Nested exceptions

Hi everybody,
I need to handle an expection that occurs inside of the exception itself, is there a way to declare nested excpetions?
My example:
My program should insert into error_table if ini_table doesn't exist, but should insert into error_table_2 if error_table_1 doesn't exist also.
This one cannot raise the exception (1)
  BEGIN
    INSERT INTO ini_table.. (But ini_table doens't exist)
  Exception
    WHEN ORA-00942 THEN  - - - (1)
            INSERT INTO error_table_1... ; (But my error_table_1 doesn't exist)
  Exception
    WHEN OTHERS THEN    - - - (2)
           INSERT INTO error_table_2...
  End;
Can someone help me?
Thanks.

I am not sure, but it looks conflicting/undigested to me of what you asked for and what you got and solved it by your own!

If your tables don't exist then how is the program compiled successfully( no error) ?  After then, you will able to execute it and catch error at exception blocks( Add on:- Nested !!) in run time! (Assuming, you are not writing any silly dynamic SQL for simple insertions).
When tables don't exist procedure will throw compilation error :- "C Warning: Procedure created with compilation errors."
Again Warning:- No need of adding any exceptions( used for handling logical error  at run time) for this kind of error handling.
Thanks!

            employee_application_client.addEmployee(1, John, Smith);
            employee_application_client.printEmployee(1);
        public void addEmployee(int id, String firstname, String surname)

           System.out.println("employee firstname: " + employeebean2.getfirstname());
           System.out.println("employee surname: " + employeebean2.getsurname());
    }Using employeebean1/employeebean2 in printEmployee() did not make any difference.
    The error message appears to indicate that I have incorrectly structured these methods.
    The deployment of EmployeeBean was successful and employee1 is in EMPLOYEE table via SQL query.
    I am using JDK1.6.07, Glassfish v2 with MySQL 5.0 and Netbeans 6.1 on Windows XP platform.
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Ataraxisme,
    Thank you for responding to this post.
    This is a J2EE Application Client that was created and deployed along as an Netbeans EAR (both Application Client and EJB) project which uses resource injection as opposed to JNDI lookup.
    I am trying to get employeeApplicationClient.java to work the same way as the following travelAgentApplicationClient.java example which has successfully retrieved its record record immediately after adding using resource injection:
    public class TravelAgentClient {
        @EJB
        private static TravelAgentRemote travelagent;
        public TravelAgentClient() {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            TravelAgentClient client = new TravelAgentClient();
            client.doTravelAgent();
        public void doTravelAgent() {
            try {
                Cabin cabin_1 = new Cabin();
                cabin_1.setId(1);
                cabin_1.setName("Master Suite");
                cabin_1.setDeckLevel(1);
                cabin_1.setShipId(1);
                cabin_1.setBedCount(3);
                travelagent.createCabin(cabin_1);
                Cabin cabin_2 = travelagent.findCabin(1);
                System.out.println(cabin_2.getName());
                System.out.println(cabin_2.getDeckLevel());
                System.out.println(cabin_2.getShipId());
                System.out.println(cabin_2.getBedCount());
             ......Thanks,
    Jack

    Sweta,
    Is this a java mapping or Graphical, If Java, you should not run into this issue as you dont load the nested XSD`s.
    Also the error message indicates outofMemory in mercator side when posting your Large message.

    Yep, the appserver got hold of a usable connection but the connection was closed before the appserver had finished/committed with it. It could be that the connection was closed by the database or some firewall timeout setting.
    A good start is to investigate options of configuring your appserver's connection eviction policies including forcing a validation SQL to be executed when a connection is acquired. Make sure that such a query doesn't impact on performance and have some performance and integration testing before rolling out.i found that if i close the computer which causes this issue, hence other dev computers can deploy normally.
    "deploy" here i mean deploy to a running instance on each dev's machine.
    From this, i would guess the common database server itself rejects connection from clients.
    I will try to investigate more if i am missing something.
    And here i found a link that possibly a first good attempt:
    [http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/m/505809/]
    EclipseLink automatically recovers from communication failures, but there is little we can do to diagnose the failure. We basically execute a query and have to wait for the JDBC driver, or DataSource's response, if it hangs for 10minutes, then we are waiting. You could set the JDBC timeout hint on your query, but whether the JDBC driver honors this is up to the driver. You should see the SQLException in your logs, provided your log level is warning or lower.
    If you cannot fix your firewall, they you could change your connection pool settings to use a min number of connections of 0, so there will never be idle connections. But then you will be reconnecting a lot.
    You could also use a third party connection pool or DataSource that supports a timeout setting on the pooled connections, or spawn a thread in your application the clears the connection pool every 30minutes.regards,

  • Problem in Nested Exception Aggregation

    Hi Experts,
    Can you please give me an idea of how & Steps to do the nested exception aggregation based on the 3 to 4 characteristic and agregate the volume for 1 key figure,
    Thanks Regards
    Dolly.

    Hi AL,
    here is my requirement what i have been asked to get this output result.
    i have keyfigures KF1, KF2 and total KF.
    three characteristics dist,inch,load.
    dist-inch-load--KF1-KF2-Total KF
      5---A--010-0-----10=10
      5---A--120-20----20+10=30
    10--B---050-0-----50
    12--C---160-60----60
    13--D---270-70----70
    14--E---080-0-----80
    15--E---120-20----20+80=100
    15--E---230-30----302080=130
    KF1 is the initial volume coming from the file directily.based on this keyfigure i have to calculate KF2,Total KF.
    In order to calcuate KF2 and Total KF i have some conditions.which are mentioned below;
    KF2---> if  load=0 then KF2=0 elseif load>0 then KF2=KF1 ;
    Total KF--->if load=0 then Total KF=KF2KF1 elseif load>0 then KF2=KF2KF1
    How to achieve this dynamic summation.Do i have to do nested exception aggregation based on the above three characteristics. what would be the open options.please do help me.

    hi,
    restarting the java stack would be enough. You can do that at SMICM. Before you should deregister all queues in SMQR so that incoming messages has to wait in the queue. Of coz all synchronous msgs would fail, as well messages going to your Java Inbound Adapters.
    note:reward points if solution found helpfull.....

  • Unmarshalling return; nested exception is: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

    I think what I'm trying to achieve is probably very simple (or at least should be) but I've been trying for at least 5 hrs now:
    I'm using RMI for a distributed app I'm building for my degree.
    Up until today I got around the need for using a SecurityManager by including all shared classes (those I pass between client and server) in a class library .jar file referenced by both client and server projects.
    This has worked fine, but now I've coded a method that returns an object of a class that I do NOT want to include in the shared library (because I don't want the client to be able to construct these objects); therefore, I've decided to try and get the dynamic class loading working.
    I'm using netbeans and testing on a single computer.
    Here's what I'm trying:
    My main() method has the standard code I've seen: if (System.getSecurityManager() == null) System.setSecurityManager(new RMISecurityManager());
    In the server project's Run properties, I'm specifying VM Options: -Djava.security.policy=c:\security.policy -Djava.rmi.server.codebase="file://C:/"
    I've copied the ellusive class's .java file into C:\ to keep the URL simple, but I've also tried directing it to the netbean project's bin\ folder using '%20' for spaces, both with the same results - about a five second pause (so it's finding something I think) and then the error message from the client's output:
    error unmarshalling return; nested exception is: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: mypackage.myClass
    My policy file's contents are:
    grant {
    permission java.security.AllPermission;
    I've tried about 20 different ways of formatting the codebase argument's URL.. can anyone help?
    David
    p.s. my OS is Windows 7

    Thanks EJP,
    Yes, after posting I guessed it might want the .class file instead, so I directed it their instead - still no joy, unfortunately!
    I'm carrying out all testing on one computer, so (+if+ I could get it to work) a local codebase address would not be a problem.
    Noted about the server-side security manager. I might want to use callbacks, but the server still won't need to download class files from the client, so I'll still try and set the codebase, but will try without loading a security manager on the server-side.
    For the time being I've put the class in the shared library but have defined it within the same package as the server code. By doing this I've been able to set the class's accessibility back to default, but the client can still access it as Object (from the shared library).
    This solution is good enough, but I still wonder why the client refuses to accept the class file from the C:\ codebase.

  • UnmarshalException:error unmarshalling return;nested exception ClassNotFoun

    Hi,
    I have written a client for an enterprise application. The client communicates with the application using APIs provided by the application that internally make RMI calls to the application server.
    I am getting the following error when the client invokes a remote method.
    java.rmi.UnmarshalException: error unmarshalling return; nested exception is:
        java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: <a.b.c.MyClass>
        at sun.rmi.server.UnicastRef.invoke(UnicastRef.java:169)The class 'a.b.c.MyClass' is included in the client JAR as well as in the server installation directory. The classes in this directory will be added by server into its classpath automatically. The client and server are running on the same machine but have different classpaths.
    The remote method uses class 'a.b.c.MyClass' in both input parameter and return type.
    This method returns a list of objects found as specified by the input parameters. The input parameter and the result both use the 'a.b.c.MyClass'.
    The code is able to make the call, the server processes the call, but it is failing wihle returning the result. I am not able to understand why it is failing for Unmarshalling the class that it has already (marshalled) used while sending the input parameters.
    The code was working fine previously. I am not able to find out what has made it not working.
    Waiting for your valuable help.

  • Error converting Message: 'sun.io.MalformedInputException';nested exception

    Hi All,
            I am using a File to mail scenario, My test file is getting picked up, but is not reflecting in SXMB_MONI and in runtime workbench it is showing like this
    Retry 14. Message initiation failed: Transform: failed to execute the transformation: com.sap.aii.messaging.adapter.trans.TransformException: Error converting Message: 'sun.io.MalformedInputException'; nested exception caused by: sun.io.MalformedInputException.
    Can anybody help me out? In the module tab I am using it is an UTF-8, I have checked using US-ASCII, UTF-16, It is showing me the same error.

    Hi Uday,
    Please see this explaination from help.sap.com. Hope it will help you to understand the problem.
    File Type
    Specify the document data type.
    ○       Binary
    ○       Text
    Under File Encoding, specify a code page.
    The default setting is to use the system code page that is specific to the configuration of the installed operating system. The file content is converted to the UTF-8 code page before it is sent.
    Permitted values for the code page are the existing Charsets of the Java runtime. According to the SUN specification for the Java runtime, at least the following standard character sets must be supported:
    US-ASCII
    Seven-bit ASCII, also known as ISO646-US, or Basic Latin block of the Unicode character set
    ISO-8859-1
    ISO character set for Western European languages (Latin Alphabet No. 1), also known as ISO-LATIN-1
    UTF-8
    8-bit Unicode character format
    UTF-16BE
    16-bit Unicode character format, big-endian byte order
    UTF-16LE
    16-bit Unicode character format, little-endian byte order
    UTF-16
    16-bit Unicode character format, byte order
    Check which other character sets are supported in the documentation for your Java runtime implementation.
    XML text documents generally contain their own code page description and should be treated as Binary data type.
    go with the Binary File type option if don't require any content encoding in your scenario.
    regards
    Ashwin

    >
    That 'getInt' method returns a Java 'int'. It will attempt to convert the actual data value in the result set column to an int.
    If the value is too large, too small or isn't even numeric you will get an exception.
    Isolate the problem (e.g. by debugging) to the row giving the exception and then examine the actual data value. If you are using NetBeans (or other) you can use the 'getString' method to see what the value is that is causing the problem.
    The actual 'solution' to the problem depends on your database, the table column definition and the business rules being implemented.
    You table could contain 'dirty' data and contain values larger than you want to be stored.
    Or your actual data could be correct and you are just using 'getInt' instead of 'getBigDecimal' or other method to get the value.
    Don't apply a 'solution' until you actually know what the problem is and the proper solution to implement.
