Nested Folder in NAS QNAP TS-219P II not reachable by Canon IR-ADV 2025

Hello,
I've got the following problem:
I want so send a scanned document to a NAS. But when accessing the specific subfolder with smb the copier returns "no answere form server" (translated vom german).
Specifically I am trying to access a network share via SMB with a user that has onyl r/w priviliges for one folder (\\NAS\M) that is nested in root\A\M while root\A is also shared as \\NAS\A. But I can only access \\NAS\M if the user has also privileges for \\NAS\A. This is not replicable in windows or ubuntu and I'm guessing it has something to do with the smb implementation of the printer.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

  • Share nested folder but not parent folder?

    Is it possible to share a nested folder in Lion 10.7.3 but not it's parent folder for one user, but then share the parent folder and all child folders to other users?

    Thanks John,
    I already have that clicked, but the problem is that there are some images that are floating around the parent, not in a sub. If one goes into exployer (but not thru LR) one can easily see which ones are not in the subs, as they show up beside the sub's. But that only works with the jpegs and not the DNGs, as they do not have a thumbnail. One could also add up the numbers of the subs (in LR) and subtract from the parent to find out how many are not in subs, but it still does not identify them.

  • How to display the first node in a nested folder?

    If my navigation structure has nested folders and the first page node is in a nested folder. Is it possible to have user click the outer folder and the first node displayed in the content area?

    Hi there,
    please refer to the document "Installing Patch 4 for Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2" (EP6SP2Patch4_install_v5.pdf) to be found on Service Marketplace; there: "6.3 Navigation Enhancements", there: "6.3.2 Default Entry for Folder" & "6.3.4 DTN: Clicking Folder Name Launches First Node".
    This should answer your question if you think about nesting with one level (I don't think it works over more levels, imagin Folder A only with subfolders, for instance Folder AA with a page AAA under it. Clicking on A will not open AAA, I think, even if this is the first "displayable" element; but I didn't check it out).
    Hope it helps

  • How do you get the root folder to recognize updated file in nested folder?

    I believe in OS 9, a modified file nested in a folder would trigger the root folder to recognize and update to the top of the "date modified" column. As long as I've used the Mac (20 years) I've used the "date modified" to force my current client folders to the top of the column. Lately, I have many nested folders in the root client folder. When I make changes to a file in a nested folder, OS X doesn't make the root folder recognize changes within a nested folder. I realize there is not likely to be a fix for this in OS X, as Apple probably deems this behavior to be proper (I do not,) so my question would be expanded to include suggestions for third party software that may accomplish this.

    Sorry, posted that last post and ran out of time while editing it. It should read like this:
    "Yes, if you ADD a new item or folder to a folder, it updates the root folder, but if you simply MODIFY a file (like Photoshop) within a subfolder, the root folder WILL NOT update the date modified. Check it out."
    Actually, whether the directory that a file is re-saved in will be modified or not can depend on the application in question and how it saves files.
    Let's say a folder has a single file in it. The modification date of the folder will be the last time a change was made to the directory, either by adding or removing an item from it. (This can include the invisible .DS_Store file in which the Finder saves view settings for a folder, which can often be written without you're realizing it unless you have the Finder show all files like I do).
    Then, let's say you open that file, which is a stream of bytes, in an application. You make some changes which alters the representation of the stream of bytes in RAM. The application then saves the changes to the file by filling it with the stream bytes as they now are in RAM. Modifying the contents of a file in this manner does not alter the directory that it's in. The modified date of the folder should remain unchanged.
    Some applications use a different method than above to save files, however. Let's say that theoretically while the application is re-writing to the original file during a save, the power goes out and your computer shuts down. There's a good chance that the document that was being saved is now corrupt. A safer method that some applications use, is to first write out the information to a new file in the same directory as the original file, then delete the original file, and then rename the new file so that it has the same attributes as the old file. This method will, of course, modify the directory that the original file was in by adding and removing a file.

  • Best way to batch resize images in nested folder hierarchy?

    Hello,
    I'm looking for help on [what is probably] a classic problem related to content sites.
    I'm launching a content site that has numerous articles, and attached to each article is a number of images.  The raw site assets are currently set up in a folder hierarchy like this:
    Overall site assets folder
    Category One folder
    Article One folder
    Unmodified images folder
    Resized, production-ready images folder
    Article Two folder
    Unmodified images folder
    Resized, production-ready images folder
    Etc..., etc....
    There are hundreds of articles in this hierarchy.
    I'm looking for a script that will take every image in each "Unmodified" folder and save a resized copy to the "Resized" folder, preferably with different settings for vertical and horizontal images (though I'll be OK with just fixing the width if need be).
    I realize that I can do this manually and locally within each folder with a droplet, but between droplets / actions / plug-ins or third-party tools, is there an easy way to accomplish this across a large nested hierarchy with many folders as long as the Unmodified and Resized folders are nested together?  And what about horizontal vs. vertical images?
    THANKS!!!!!!
    Scott

    Ahhh, I understand what you're saying.  I'm downloading and installing this CS6 script, which might be along the lines of what I'm looking for:
    Dr. Brown Services - Image Processor Pro
    http://www.e-zest.net/blog/photoshop-cs6-save-for-web-images-batch-processing-keeping-nest ed-folder-structure-intact/
    Photoshop supports recording the actions and the facility to run that action for batch processing. But it also has a couple of limitations up to Photoshop cs6 as mentioned below –
    Photoshop does not maintain the source, hereditary/nested folder structure for the output (destination) images. Save for web only saves all the files to the folder specified when you record the action.
    In case of some file handling issues, Photoshop action throws an error & pauses/stops working, wherein we need to skip these errors manually.
    I I tried to Google it to find answers and also tried couple of JavaScript solutions such as the – SFW Batch Processor, SFWCS4-5, Picture Processor etc., but unfortunately all of them didn’t work for me. Either it gave up or stopped working or even threw errors for PhotoshopCS6 and CS2.
    Thanks to Russell Brown for providing new CS6 Extension script to resolve the ‘save for web’ batch processing issue like maintaining the images nesting folder structure.
    Not sure if it does exactly what I need, but checking....
    Best,
    Scott

  • Snow Leopard and NAS QNAP TS-459 possible permission issues?

    I am running an art department and we have been using a NAS box as our server which has worked out well for us prior to installing Snow Leopard and our 2 new imacs.
    Since installing we have run into the following issues:
    1. If a user has recently worked on a file, saved, etc., that user or another user cannot move or rename the parent folder into another location on the server. The contents of the folder can be moved or altered, but not the parent folder (with all its contents)
    2. If the file has been left for several hours, or the user has shut down the folder(parent file) can be moved.
    3. sometimes however, we cannot rename a folder regardless of who or when it was created... we will get an error message similar to the following: You don’t have permission to rename the item “xxx”.
    4. The renaming/moving issues are also sporadic, there seems to be a bigger problem when the server(NAS) is under a lot of use.
    We have had to copy the files to our desktops, throw out the file on the server and then refile in its new destination.
    Can you shed some light

    The account that's is not working is the MAIN account created with Lion, after upgrading from the AWESOME Snow Leopard...
    So I need to understand one thing, I need to do a backup, then I open the new admin account (not main) I created and migrate everything over there??? And then delete the old main account?
    Note: The new admin account I created seems to work without issues, I just started few of the programs that were not working (in the main account) and they start without error messages.

  • Nested folder problems in XP via Bootcamp

    I'm running Windows XP on my iMac via Bootcamp. It runs pretty much fine, with the exception of some fits over mouse/keyboard/DirectX drivers that I guess everyone is having.
    However, it has one really huge annoying and flummoxing problem: if you have too many layers of subfolders, XP stops letting you drag files into the nested folder, won't open them if they're text or jpg, etc.
    For example, suppose I create a "Beretta" subfolder at this level:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Kate\My Documents\Games\Particular Game\Downloads\Weapons\Handheld Weapons\Guns\Handguns\Pistols\Beretta\
    XP won't let me drag any files into the "Beretta" folder without an error message saying "Cannot move file RKELLY: The file name is not valid or [is] too long. Specify a different file name." I can drag the "Beretta" folder to another location further up the tree--or to my Desktop--and drop the RKELLY file in. If I check, the RKELLY file will open fine. I can even move the "Beretta" folder back to where I wanted it, under "Pistols." But then the RKELLY file inside the folder won't open. I can't delete it or do anything else to them, either, until I move them back to my Desktop or another less-nested folder. Instead, just get a "ding" sound.
    Is there some sort of limit in XP I don't know about? Or it is a BootCamp issue? I can't figure out for the life of me why this would be happening, and it's a huge pain.

    Long File Names and Maximum Folder Depth
    Fat32
    The FAT32 file specification from Microsoft does not specify a maximum directory depth. There is no official published NTFS file specification...however, under NTFS the directory depth is limited by the 255 character file name limit; directory depth cannot be more that.
    The following is taken from Article No.: Q148754
    Long file names are limited to 255 characters in Windows 95. However, the maximum path length in Windows 95 is 259 characters. The maximum path length represents the length of the file name, plus the number of characters used to represent the drive and folder where the file is located. For example, the path length for the file
    C:\Windows\LongFileName.extension
    is 33 characters, but the file name is only 22 characters.
    Because the path length is limited to 259 characters, a long file name is limited to less than 255 characters if more than five characters are needed to represent the drive and folder where the file is located. If five characters or less are needed to represent the drive and folder where the file is located, the long file name is limited to 255 characters, even if the total path length is less than 259 characters. For example, if a file is located in the root folder of a drive, the long file name is still limited to 255 characters, even though 256 characters could be used before the maximum path length is reached.
    NTFS
    NTFS File name has a repeatable attribute for both long and short file names. The long name of the file can be up to 255 Unicode characters. The short name is the 8.3, case-insensitive name for the file. Additional names, or hard links, required by POSIX can be included as additional file name attributes.

  • Double clicking a nested folder is driving me crazy

    I have a folder mac hd/folder/folder and I open it to work with all the Filemaker files in that folder. There are 40 and I have to open them all by hand. Every time I open one, I guess it thinks it is an application it springs shut, closing all the folders, it also closes the hard drive and I have to start all over. How can I set it so the folder I choose stays open. The finder menu window I can't get used to. I just put the folder on my desktop for now. For now I put the folder on my desktop and it doesn't do that but I would like to know why the nested folder doesn't stay open.
    I just started opening all the files in the folder on my desktop and the one folder now is also springing shut after I open each one. I have to double click the folder and then double click the file and repeat 40 times. Why can't it stay open?
    thanks

    i replaced a older jsf impl with the latest and it was fixed

  • FTP publishes to nested folder, problems ensue

    Hi,
    I'm trying to publish my iWeb site to a domain hosted on my university's server, and have made a successful test connection to that server, but when I publish the site to that server, it ends up in a nested folder, which my school's server doesn't allow read access to for the general public. I need for iWeb to publish its pages directly into the directory I provided for the FTP path. Does anybody know how to do this?

    One of the problems with the iWeb FTP is that it uploads the whole folder created by iWeb and this creates a sub directory which, in your case, you don't want.
    Publish your site to a local folder and upload the contents of the folder and not the folder itself.

  • [Solved] Error : The file or folder path /Probl?me 1 does not exist

    Hello,
    I encountered this error
    The file or folder <path>/Probl?me 2 does not exist
    while I was trying to open a directory already extracted from a zip file containing directories with special characters. In this case, it is a "è" that was misinterpreted as a "?".
    I searched the forums and on google, the solutions proposed do not work for me. Although, I have to deal with these files written in french, I would like to have my locale in english (US), with a system wide support for special characters.
    Attempt 1: Adding the option : iocharset=utf8 into the fstab, like this :
    fstab :
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>

    /dev/disk/by-uuid/668427a8-5f51-42bd-a316-fc7984bf5f4f /var ext4 defaults 0 2

    /dev/disk/by-uuid/71e543b6-e06c-4b0e-b1e3-3b491ff1fefe /var/cache/pacman/repos ext4 defaults 0 2
    #/dev/sda12 /mnt/archive ext4 defaults 0 2
    #.host:/ /mnt/hgfs vmhgfs defaults 0 0
    This solution does not work, because after adding iocharset=utf8, in front or after a "defaults", after a reboot, while mounting the filesystem, there is the following error message:

    It is complicated to remove these directories. I had to use the inum to get precisely these directories before removing them.
    $ ls -il
    total 8
    1577566 drwxr-xr-x 2 [username] [username] 4096 28 jan 07:09 Probl?me 1

    $ find . -inum 1577566 -exec rm -i {} \;
    rm: impossible de supprimer « ./Probl\212me 1 »: est un dossier
    Note that the hypothetical character 'è' is represented has a '\212', a 'È' if seen as a extended ASCII character.
    These directories cannot be deleted this way :
    $ rm -r Problème\ 1
    rm: cannot remove `Problème 1': No such file or directory
    or
    $ rm -r ProblÈme\ 1
    rm: cannot remove `ProblÈme 1': No such file or directory
    What should I do to be make the operating system recognize those special character, and interpret them correctly ?

    I found a working solution, but better solution are also welcome
    I had to have fr_CA not only in utf8 but also in iso88591. I had to modify the /etc/rc.conf this way :
    LOCALE="fr_CA" <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
    HARDWARECLOCK=""
    TIMEZONE="America/Montreal"
    KEYMAP="us"
    CONSOLEFONT=
    CONSOLEMAP=
    USECOLOR="yes"
    To preserve the english US language system wide, I had to add the following line in the /etc/profile :
    # Allow french special character while in en_US
    export LANG=en_US
    The character misinterpreted by a "?" is now seen :
    as a "è" in dolphin
    as a "?" in the console
    It is now possible to access the folders.

  • How can I save a page offline? the "complete" option in "save as" produces a folder w/ 36 kb files that will not open.

    the "complete" option in "save as" produces a folder w/ 36 kb files that will not open anything - can't I save the page as a single offline file?

    This is not really an answer just my comments on your question.
    I am sure I recollect efforts being made to get mhtml to work with FF.
    Probably the important thing to remember about .mhtml is that if other browsers do support it they may need addons, and may not necessarily render the content correctly/consistently.
    There are FF addons designed for archiving webpages, you could try them, but that then assumes the recipient has the same software.
    You could simply save the page from FF to your XP pc; then offline open it with and save it using IE, before then emailing using FF, and attaching the .mht or mhtml file that you have now created on your PC.
    As an alternative method, in some cases it could be worth considering taking a screen grab of the required page, then sending that to the recipient as a single email attatchment using either a bitmap or jpeg file format for instance.
    Something such as an airline booking may be designed with a print option, possibly it could be worthwile looking at sending the print file itself as an email attachment.
