Nested Tables in Pages for iPad

I am using Pages on my iPad2. When opening a document with nested tables, it loses oll formatting for the nested tables. Is there a way to avoid this?

Doesnt look like it doesn combination Letter/number/roman numeral lists. I was able to get it to do multi level numbers or letters. But no combinations. As soon as you indicate letter as your second, it resets the next level up number list.

How can I put pictures inside the table in Pages for IPad? I can do that in Pages in my macbook, but I can't in IPad.

It would appear that unless you are working from a document that already had section breaks (or the equivilent) ,you can't. I have some files in pages that began as MS Word documents with multiple sections that allow that by tapping on the footer (or header) and making the change. Files created in Pages (or from other sources but without section beaks) do not.

Can I have variable widths of columns in a table in pages for ipad?

I would like to make a table in Pages that has a larger column for the first column than the others so I can put labels in this column. Is that possible on the ipad? I know I can do this in Pages on a computer.

Yes you can:
Select the column in question by tapping on the very top bar.
Drag the || handle to the left or right to change the width.
You may need to reduce the width of one or more other columns to do this if the table is already the width of the margins.

Nested list in Pages for iPad

can I do this is iPages on iPad2. All updates installed. This is driving me crazy. Pages is great but for this...I think!

Merging table elements on Pages for iPad

Is there a way to merge cells in Tables in Pages for iPad. For example merge few cells to apply text heading to cells below.

Hi,
I had the same problem. But I think I found the solution. All you need to do is the choose the first the cell that you want to merge then tap on the tool icon the one that looks like a wren. There will be two dots on the top left and bottom right of the cell. Now you can drag as many cells that you want to merge. Next tap in the cell and choose merge. The selected cells will merge.

Tables and cells in Pages for iPad

I am using Pages for iPad. I am writing in a table and when I write a large content in a cell, it desappears on the bottom of the page.
Is there any way to make the cell to split automatically when it reaches the bottom of the page?

Trying to find a way to put websites into alphabetical order on pages for iPad. Any ideas?

But essentiall, you will need to create a table, place each URL in its own row, Tap the header to select the column, and select Sort (ascending).

Tab Function in Pages for iPad moved?

Was using pages for ipad today, and I used to use a tab function from the top menu bar by hitting a button that looks like an align button and it allowed for page breaks and tab functions.
I think I updated pages, and now I have to hold down as if I were to select a word or words, use the insert function, and then get to Tab/Page Break.
Is there a way to change this preference? It was so much easier the with the menu bar button!

I am trying to create a simple table, with varying column widths, eg Year Month Day Description. After going through the very limited options in Pages and doing plenty of Googling I have come to the conclusion that Apple doesn't allow you to have varying column widths in a single table :-( So I tried to create a custom table by using tabs, ie Year <hold, insert, tab> Month <hold, insert, tab hold, insert, tab> Day <hold, insert, tab> Description = 4 tabs = 12 steps :-( A Tab button on the keyboard would've been great, but the Ipad keyboard doesn't have one :-( neither do they allow me to customize my keyboard :-( I found software that seems to be able to do what I need but Apple says I'm not allowed to purchase the software in my country :-(

Resize columns in Pages for iPad?

Is there a way to resize columns in a multi-column document in Pages for iPad? I want a narrow left column and a wider right column. I can kinda get the effect by using a table, but it'd be easier to just adjust the column widths. Is this possible, and if so, how?

I'm not seeing a way to resize the columns and the Help doesn't mention it either. I'm just able to change the indents and "margins" within the columns, but the columns stay the same size.

Thanks. In a document in Pages on my iPad, if I press the + symbol, I am given various insert options like tables, graphic boxes and 'animatable' lines, which can be adjusted. Top left says 'text' which is obviously a text box. However my friend has an arrow option next to the word 'text' which allows him to import a thin arrow which can be rotated to point in any direction in his document (useful for pointing one area of text to another.
I don't have this option; just the 'fixed' block arrows which appear below as options. My version of Pages is the latest and my iPad is very new.

Logical symbols in pages for IPad? Asking for help

I have a new IPad and I would like to define logical symbols on my keyboard (just like ą, ę and so on). Is there some way to do it and to use it in PAGES for IPad? I would prefer to have few math symbols defined directly under some bottoms and not to use copy/paste. (I tried to find in Pages for IPad some special characters, but there are no such things, perhaps it is possible to add it?) I have also small separated keybord (perhaps this could be somehow used...?)

Afraid you cannot define custom characters for any keyboard in the iPad. What accented characters there are can be shown by holding the appropriate letter down.

I'm not finding a way to highlight text as one can do with iBooks (hold and swipe for black text, background yellow for example).
One option is to actually color the text itself.
Select the text, then in Style tools, tap the Font name at the top which shows the Text Options sheet where there is a Color option. Would changing the font color to Red, Green or Purple accomplish your goals?
If you do want black text on a colored background (highlighted) it would need to be text in a text box where you can change the fill (background) color. Style, Style Options, Fill. But this is not inline text and doesn't flow like just coloring the font itself.

Style is a function of the template applied to the document (and/or the limited number built in to Pages). You can mofify the text or apply one of the built in styles, but I do not beleive within Pages in iOS you can create a new style.

How do I add footnotes/endnotes in Pages for iPad 2?

Hi everyone. Like many people I was super excited to be able to use my iPad 2 as a word processor with the Pages app. I have a macbook black from 2007 and it is extremely heavy to carry around everyone. I'm a graduate student so mobility for me is key. Anyway, so I am writing an academic paper write now in Pages for iOS but I can't figure out how to add footnotes/endnotes to cite my sources. I can't find anything online relating to this topic. Can you tell me how to do this? I certainly hope Pages has this capability because without something so fundamental, how can it be the least bit useful? Thanks so much!

It is not built in, but you can at least create and edit footnotes (I do not use end notes, but from limited testing, it appears to work with endnotes as well but converts them to footnotes). It sounds complicated when you break it down into steps as I do below, but it really is easy and intuitive.
FIRST: The underlying concept. If you have the latest Pages for iPad, then when it imports a Word document it imports footnotes (and endnotes) and you can edit them.
With that in mind, here is how you can create footnotes on the iPad.
#1 In Word create a one short sentence shell text with a short footnote, like "See the cat run /fn1" "fn/1 The cat was black").
#2 Import that shell document into your iPad, say with email "open using Pages."
#3 Save that shell document as your sour dough starter so to speak.
#4 Now create your new Pages iPad document.
#5 When you are ready to create your FIRST new footnote, copy and paste the shell sentence with shell footnote from your saved starter shell document into your new iPages document.
#5. Edit the shell sentence and footnote to a real sentence and footnote in new document.
#6 Thereafter, as you add new footnotes, either copy / paste one from new document or shell and edit. You will see they renumber properly, even when moved.
