Nesting a Dashboard within a Dashboard problem

Guys,
I hope that you can help me with this problem.
I wish to embed a dashboard in another dashboard. To do this, I export the first dashboard as an *.swf and then import it into the new dashboard using an image component.
However, if I then rexport the first dashboard as an *.swf with new data in, the *.swf in the second dashboard is not automatically updated. To update it, I have to re-insert the *.swf.
Is there a solution to this problem?

i think you need to make your internal swf file get the data dynamically
it will not change unless you make it dynamic.

Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7) report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area. I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page. The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note : My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form. I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout. (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.

Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.

Pass variable value from one dashboard to another dashboard

Hello,
I have one main dashboard which have "year" prompt with drop down and variaous links & also some reports.
And we have same year prompt on another dashboards only difference is, this prompt is editable not drop down.
The requirement is, when I navigate from main dashboard to another dashboard through reports, that time selected prompt value
comes in navigated dashboard prompt.
But When I navigate from main dashboard to another dashboard using Link or using <A Href> tag, now selected prompt value can not come in navigated dashboard prompt.
How can we pass selected prompt value from one dashboard to another dashboard? OR Is there any other technique?

Hi,
You need to make the scope of the prompt as 'Dashboard' and if this doesnt work.
Then use presentation variable in the first prompt and pass it to the second prompt.
So this will surely pass the values across pages.

Use a dashboard prompt and set the scope to "Dashboard." Also, save the prompt to a Presentation Variable. If you're using dashboard prompts on the second dashboard page, give it the same name.
When the prompt is selected on page one, it will feed the prompt on the second page. If the prompt is used as a filter of a report on the second page, it will filter that report, too.

Nesting reports/report within report/Recursive reports!

This one's really annoying - Can I or can i not nest one report within another?? I have got a really complex report which I want to embed into another and don't want to go through the hassle of rebuilding it in the parent!! Here's what I am trying to do -
I am trying to create a recursive report. I have got a database which has a
table called Outlet and it has several directly or indirectly related child
tables. I have created a report to show these details for a single Outlet.
Now the issue I have is one Outlet can have several child outlets. Basically a
one to many relationship on the same table. I want to display the exact same
details which I displayed for the parent outlet - for each of the child outlet
for the parent.
And each of the child outlet in turn can have more child outlets. So
essentially I want to recurse into the same data model and layout model twice.
So conceptually I want to create a reusable report which I can call from
another report but this report must be displayed in a frame of the parent
report.
Any suggestions as to how I can do this without physically creat9ing three
levels of datamodel and layout model?
I am running the parent from command line and need the output in a single RDF file?

Create a report that shows all the details you want, then group it by ModelName. In the section expert, hide the detail line. When you preview the report you will only see the group name, and when you click it a new report will open showing the details for that group.

Is it possible to nest a PDF within a PDF?

Is there any way of nesting a PDF within a PDF? In word for example you can have a thumbnail image which will then open into a PDF, however when you then change the entire word document into a PDF the nested PDF files no longer open into a new window or expand at all.
Any help would be much appreciated

You can manually attach a file in a pdf file. There is no reason the file could not be a pdf file.

OBIEE(11.1.1.6.8) dashboard prompts "Please Wait" Problem after the automatic upgrade of browser

We have a problem in OBIEE(11.1.1.6.8) dashboard prompts after the upgrade of Chrome browser.. The values of dashboard prompts are not shown to user ( with message "Please wait" ) We had this problem in Internet Explorer 10. So we had announced the users to have minimum browser versions Chrome 12+ , Firefox 17+ , Internet Explorer 9.x as its is declared in certification matrix. Now after upgrade (automatically)in Chrome version 30.0.1599.101 m , we have the same problem and the only working browser remaining is Mozilla Firefox. What should we do to prevent this without upgrade or patch ? Is there any workaround ?

New to the forums, but I was wondering, can anyone point my in the direction of some decent literature about dashboard? I am new to the dashboard feature within BO and am trying to learn a little bit about what it is. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I guess I was put under the impression that Business Objects had a Dashboard builder within. I am new to this, so if that isn't the case, or if there is another way to build a dashboard, that's what I'm trying to find out. Thanks for your help!

Problem to transfer Variable value to Dashboard A to Dashboard B

But at this condition,The variables of Dashboard B are not bound to any cell because they will be set at run time with values passed in the URL.
My question is can I get the Variable value from the URL in the Xcelsius Designer and put it into a specified cell and link this cell with the query,so that even jump to Dashboard B I can still change the variable values.

Let me explain the issue in detail.
In Query Designer, both the year and month variables are defined by user exit function to read current year and month and can be modified during the query runtime.
In WAD, Query1 is used to be a table with a table interface to hyperlink a chart which is defined by Query2 with the same variable value of Query1.
During the runtime of template, if I change the variable value of Query1 , I want the variable of Query2 to be changed automatically with the same new value.
So in the table interface of Query1 , I write the ABAP code in "SE24" and related source code to the variable is following:

Can we call another dashboard within the main dashboard?

Hi Xcelsius Gurus,
Currently I have created 4 dashboards out of total 10 dashboards using "Dynamic Visibility" in one single SWF file. As each dashboard has more KPIs in it, it has performance issues. We have still 6 dashboards to go.
Hence to get better performance, I am planning to break this SWF into multiple SWFs. Each sub-dashboard will have "BACK" button. Hence I'll have one main dashboard, where on click it will open the respective dashboard and when clicked on BACK button the main dashboard will be visible.
Will this be possible? If yes, how to achieve the same?

do you have BOE intsalled? If yes, then you can use the OpenDocument command for that:

If not, then I would recommend you to build the "main dashboard" as a html navigation, each dashboard can be loaded in other frame.
You can also try to use the URL Button Component, this will open a specified Link, including swf's files.

New to dashboard prompts and having problems

I am trying to use two dashboard prompts as presentation variables (which I have never used before) for the start and end dates of a date range for a report.
I created two dashboard prompts: pvStartDate and pvEndDate as you suggested. For these dashboard prompts, the operator is "is equal to or is in", the control is Calendar, and "Default to" is Report Defaults. I selected "Presentation Variable" and named as pvStartDate and pvEndDate.
At the suggestion of a seperate post, I am using these presentation variables as filters in the report. Currently I use the two fillter method: Modified is greater than or equal to @{pvStartDate} and Modified is less than or equal to @{pvEndDate}.
I get the following error when trying to procede:

Actually, the error was from pulling at the dashboard.
I decided to go the easier route and use the step-three prompt in the filter.
It seems, though, that the operaters "between" and "less than or equal to" do not contain the final prompted date in this system as the date is indicated as 12:00 AM--or midnight at the start of the date.
This system is so strange.

Send Smart Forms within emails (html) Problems with format

Dear all,
the ABAP report SF_XSF_DEMO1 is a demo report which converts a certain smart form into HTML and then sends it as an email in html format.
Sending the email is possible without any problems but I am wondering about the email format.

I am not happy with the email layout as the Smart Form "SF_XSF_DEMO1" is designed in a different way.
What do I have to adapt within the report in order to send an email that really looks like the Smart Form? Or is it a customizing issue?
(I would like to avoid having to send the Smart Form as PDF attachment...)

Hi Kristian,
When ever you send a smartform output as an HTML email, the system generates automatic style sheets which are not supported in many email clients such as Outlook 2007, hence you will face a formatting issue. We faced the same issue and had do it it like this:
Build a BSP page similar to the output which you want to send as an email. Now you can use the BSP URL to send the html email using cl_bcs class.
