Net Assistant

I am having trouble trying to keep the netasst window open after running a test connection. I am doing this on a client version of Red Hat 6.1 with Oracle 8i w/the patches applied and trying to connect to a linux server. After the test connection, I get the Xterm window back. I need to change the user/pwd to perform another test, but since the window ends I cannot. Is there a way to keep the window open, or change the user/pwd for the test?

Netassistant is malware.

  • Cisco Net Assistant 5.5 not showing correcet timestamp in sys mess

In CNA Monitor/System Messages window, the timestamps are ahead by about 4 hours.  All of the devices are NTP'd and are showing the correct time when executing 'sho ntp stat', my desktop is the correct time, but the application is not picking this up.
Any ideas as to why?  I am running WinXP, and have tested it on an SP2 and an SP3 installation with the same results.

  • With Firefox, when opening a Yahoo email it sends me to Net Assistant. How do I fix this?

IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT IT OCCURS QUITE OFTEN.

    Hi Smith1440,
Firefox is a web browser. It displays the content of existing sites. Things like email or page contents come from the content provider. That being said, have you tried using IE or another browser to confirm it only happens in Firefox?
If it is specifically in Firefox, I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
You could also try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=create+a+new+profile&r=2&e=es&as=s#w_creating-a-profile creating a new profile].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How to run Net Configuration Assistant on 10g Forms and Reports server

I have a Windows 2000 server with Forms and Reports Services installed from AS 10g v. 9.0.4 (just the Forms and Reports install). According to the OUI, Net Configuration Assistant 9.0.4 is also installed. However I cannot figure out how to run the Net CA. There is no shorcut that I can find. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the reply Frank. I have looked all through the Start menu but see no "Configuration and Migration". I assume it's because I only installed the Forms and Reports option, so I only have Forms Services, Reports Services, and the Universal Installer. No big deal - I've already setup tnsnames manually. I just like to use the Net Assistant when I can.

  • Database Configuraion Assistant doesn't run

Please answer me to [email protected]
I installed Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition Database on OpenUNIX 8 (SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 + Caldera OpenLinux 3.1.1 RPM). Net Assistant was completed automatically after the installation while the other tool (Database Configuration Assistant) didn't run correctly, so I had to complete the instalation without creating any database. Runing that tool after shows the same error messages as below :

If anyone has any idea what's going on please me to the email adress shown at the top.

A.T., I seem to remember it took me hours to download PRE7 4 or 5 years ago.
I'm adding the latest step in this saga in case it helps someone else, as I had not found the following in any of the threads I searched through.
My chat got closed while I was downloading and I got sent an email with details of the case number and a link to the Customer Support Portal online so I can update the case to let them know once everything is downloaded and working (fingers crossed).
When I clicked on the link in the email, I went to a screen with the case link to use to update later.
BUT in the menu bar at the top of the page there is a link to Order History, which then took me to details of my orders, which I had not been able to get to by just using My Orders.  Beside my current order is a button to press to view the order details, so I did and got taken to a copy of the order details, which included a link to Downloads Available.  When I clicked on that, what do you know - I am in the Adobe store with all my Akamai download links for both lots of software and the installer for both 32 and 64-bit operating systems.
How do you find the Customer Support Portal?? I searched Customer Support Portal on the Adobe home page and found this link to use
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/customer-support-portal.html
It looks like you select your location then log in and you should get to your Customer Support Portal, with links to open and closed cases, as well as your order history and returns history.
Hope that helps someone in the same boat in the future.

  • 10g Net Configuration Assistanct

I need to add an entry to TNSNAMES and used the Net Configuration Assistant to add some entries yesterday. Today when I select the next button after opening the assistant, it does nothing. I get no errors, it does not go to next page, and I get no hour glass. It doesn't seem to hang up, it just doesn't do anything. This is for Oracle 10g installation. Nothing I have tried seems to work. I know I can edit the TNSNAMES to add the entry, but I also know that if you aren't very careful when you edit TNSNAMES, you can mess everything up. I have done that in past lives with earlier versions of Oracle. I would appreciate any ideas you might have

I am using XP Professional SP2. The database configuration assistant works, but I am having trouble getting OEM console up. Everything was working okay until Yesterday. I even used the Net Assistant to add 2 entries to my TNSNAMES a couple of days ago, and installed a product called SQLTools. I can get to the different db's I need to on other servers through SQLTools, but have not been able to use OEM or the Net Assistant since then. It just now hit me that maybe that installation over wrote some of the files Oracle uses. Thoughts?

  • How can you get your homage address to open when you open new tabs? My homepage is Google, but my new tabs always open with Yahoo.

On my old computer, all my tabs always opened to what my homepage was set to: iGoogle. Now with my new computer, my homepage is set, but all new tabs open with Yahoo! I've tried looking at tab setting but don't see a place to set it. Help!

The behavior that you have is not the default Firefox behavior, which always opens a blank tab. You will have an add-on that is causing this. Check for any Yahoo related add-ons to see if they have this option. The freeze net assistant add-on is another one that opens Yahoo in a new tab.
There are add-ons that allow you to specify what should appear on a new tab, but these may conflict with the add-on that is opening Yahoo.
    * NewTabURL - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/newtaburl
    * New Tab Homepage - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage
Another way of opening the home page in a new tab is to middle click on the home button in the navigation toolbar.

  • Connect to VPN but not my iMac at work

    Hi all,
Very frustrating problem here. When I'm at home using my MacBook Pro, I can connect to the Cisco VPN at work and log into SMB servers. I can also log in to AFP servers. But I want to be able to control my iMac at work because sometimes I need files on that hard drive. And I can't see any macs! When I bring my MBP to work and am on the network, I can control my iMac and see all of the other macs under the "Shared" section of the Finder sidebar.
    Here's my setup at home.
MBP: running 10.6.8 using built-in VPN. Tried to connect using "Screen Sharing," which works at work. IT gave me ARD 3.5.1. Still doesn't work.
Home Router: Airport Extreme Base Station (dual-band model, but I can't remember the model #). The firmware is current. Using Airport Utility, I have Port Mapping set up for ARD service (automatically does stuff for ports 3283 and 5900, but I don't know what the numbers mean).
I use a Comcast Cable Modem to connect to the Internet.
This thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/3144943#3144943 said I should "configure the AEBS so that the option to distribute IP addresses is DISABLED." It is obviously talking about an older version of Airport utility, but when I go to my AU > Internet > Internet Connection > Connection Sharing drop-down menu, I see three options: Share a public IP address (selected), Distribute a range of IP addresses, and Off (Bridge Mode). I am not using my AEBS as a bridge, so I think that's configured correctly.
Since I can control my iMac from my MBP over the wireless network at work, and I can make a VPN connection from home and log onto SMB and AFP servers at work, I suspect there is something wrong with my AEBS setup that's blocking something to do with Screen Sharing. Any ideas? I've even tried turning off the OS X firewall and still didn't have any luck.

Using Airport Utility, I have Port Mapping set up for ARD service (automatically does stuff for ports 3283 and 5900, but I don't know what the numbers mean).
FYI. Port 3283 is used by the Net Assistant function of the ARD (Apple Remote Desktop) service. Port 5900 is used by both ARD or a VNC server, like Screen Sharing in OS X. Note: When you enable Screen Sharing within the Sharing panel in System Preferences, you are basically turning on the Mac's VNC server service. You would then access this server via a VNC client ... like another Mac or from a PC that has a VNC client installed.
Actually, it is somewhat backwards of this. It's NOT your router that needs to have port mapping configured; it would be your work's router instead. The only reason you would configure yours is if you were attempting to access a computer on your home's local network from the work (or anywhere else from the Internet).
Since you already got ARD from your work's IT guys, they should be able to help you configure Screen Sharing, running on a work computer, to be accessible via a VPN tunnel from your home's network.

  • The website for my bank (BofA) tells me 'Your Online ID and/or Location is Missing, Try Again - when I try to sign in.

    Hello,
I updated Firefox (now the icon is Firefox logo and 45r on my desktop). About the same time, I updated some Add-Ons, as suggested on Firefox website.
Now - when I try to log-in with bank website, I type in my user name - and I get the message 'Your online ID and/or location is missing, Please try again.' Initially I thought that it was the bank web-page - but this has been going on for daaays now, so I suspect it is some setting....
ALSO - I started getting re-routed to a strange web-page (this happens randomly), when changing, going to a link on various web sites. oops. The strange website is 'Net Assistant' and it seems to want to help search, I always back out (frequently this takes a few attempts).
I cleaned the cache, got rid of cookies and mopped the floor- (just kidding on that), and I'm not sure what else to do! eek.
I do not have a specific time - or event to relate these two problems ''to'', but I suspect it is either Firefox 4 (45r?) or one of the suggested add-on updates that I did.
Actually, there is a 3rd, probably related problem: My homepage is NPR (http://www.npr.org/) and whenever I click on Firefox (45r) icon, NPR page loads, but I get a message across the top - under address bar, that says 'Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page.'
Not sure what's-up with that either.
p.s. The BofA page has the green 'safe' sign on the address bar.
    What a confusing mess. Help!
I need to get online with the bank, so I can pay my bills on time!

Glad you seem to have sorted things out.
The warning about the warranty is light hearted, I think at one stage it warned "here be dragons" but also intended to make us think as it warns that making changes may produce problems.

  • How can I modify the about:config page to automatically install/allow a new addon that I dropped in the profile folder?

We are pushing policy to create an add-on for our workstations in our labs. It is the click once .net assistant, and when we push the folder, prefs.js, and config.ini with policy the add on works, but FFx comes up with the 'allow installation' tab every time. Is there a way to enable/install the addon without that page coming up?
We work in a 'frozen' environment (Faronics DeepFreeze), so using policy for fixes like this is nice, but we are hoping to clean it up so we don't see that allow installation tab.
    Thanks for the help!

  • How can I set or reset the page that is loaded when I open a new tab using Ctrl t ?? by

I recently downloaded a program that has, as an undesired additional action, apprently setup Yahoo as the page that opens by default when I open a new tab using <Ctrl> <t> (or the <+> symbol on the tab bar). This is aggravating to me, particularly as I have not been able to find a way to stop it occurring.
I expect that it is buried somewhere in my profile, but I also have not found a way to explore or edit the contents of my profile.
There is a JScript script file called "user" in ...\profiles\4g4vpust.default that I suspect is associated with the behaviour, but renaming it achieved nothing.
Prior to this, my new tabs used to open as blank pages, i.e. did not load any URL and I was happy with that. How can I get back to that state?

Did it add the freeze net assistant add-on? That add-on is known to do this. If you have that add-on you can uninstall it Firefox should revert to the default behavior.
If you do not have that add-on, another add-on will be causing this, you can use the procedure in the following link to identify what one - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • TNS names can't be resolved

    Hi All!
I try to connect to a database and the error message that TNS names can't be resolved. tnsnames.ora is copied from the PC where the connection works. Only one instance of Oracle client (9.2) is installed. I tried to add a TNS names in Net Assistent. It worked and the test within the assistent was successfull. The tnsnames.ora was also adjusted. But! I don't see the service in NetManager and I can't add any service there. The NT user is a member of the administrator group. I also try to connect using SQL plus, Excel, Enterprice manager - it doesn't work. Any ideas?
Is there any Windows service for the TNS? How it calls? I tried to check it with lsnrctl status but the command is not exist. Only client is installed on the PC.
    Thanks,
    Andrej

If you copied it from another PC then check that you have the correct entries in sqlnet.ora
For instance, in sqlnet.ora, if the parameter NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN=yourserver_name.domain_name is not in use (commented out) and your net service name in[b] tnsnames.ora is mydb.yourserver_name.domain_name , when you try connecting with mydb as the connect string, you will get that error.
To resolve that, you either enter the connect string as mydb.yourserver_name.domain_name or uncomment NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN in sqlnet.ora(add it if it does not exist) or change the net service name intnsnames.ora to mydb

  • PHD Accounts stuck at blue screen when outside our network.

I have approx. 200 computers in a 1:1 program, the users are in groups by school in WGM and each group has applied preferences. The users work fine when they are at school however when they go home they get stuck on a blue screen for widely varying amounts of time, from 5 minutes to "hours" some of which the students claim never get to the login screen.
I've searched like mad and seen a lot of blue screen issues but none linked to PHD accounts being out of network range. I've also seen lots of issues with long login delays after having entered valid login credentials but none that closely resemble my issue.
    The Setup:
    Servers-
ODM - 10.5.4 2x2 GHz dual core intel Xeon 4GB
    ODR1 - 10.5.4 2GHz PowerPC G5 2GB
    ODR2 - 10.5.4 2GHz PowerPC G5 2GB
ODM & ODR1 are on the same subnet serving the main office, elem. and MS
ODR2 is on its own for the High School.
    Clients-
    Macbook A1181's 10.5.4 2GHz Intel Core Duo 1GB
The laptops in question are all bound to ODR2 and both the server and the clients are in the same subnet while in school everything works fine.

I particularily like the part about AD and Password Server being "set to load lazily"... trust me I didn't set anything on the server to be lazy intentionally. Hopefully this is enough info for someone with some more experience with log files to make sense of it all. TIA

Hi jzahra, I have experienced this behaviour. As your users report booting at home used to result in blue screen, also working wired would do it too. I worked around it by one of these( sorry it was a while ago) 1,logged in on work networksite and then took off-site changed network via airport menu.2,Booted and let sit overnight -as it did finally get to the login screen. I did have a couple of archive and installs and an install between these issues. You could also try turning airport off while on site and log off and login with profile recently cached and airport still off.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.
