certification helps there, or project experience can come by working in an environment which has SAP [this is a catch 22 situation]
so doing the recommended courses [at reputed institutes] & clearing the certification helps to come out of the circle

I would like to know how can I obtain the list of hosts currently avaiable on my LAN, just like the net view command.
Actually I've made this task with reading the console's output of net view command, but I want do this with an only-java solution.

net view polls all the windows hosts on your network.
It uses windows specific protocl to do this.
There is not java only eqivelent and you cannot use this to find UNIX boxes unless they are running Samba or the like.
At best you can scann for a give service for all the hosts on your lan. You have to have a service(s) in mind. Doing anything else is rather pointless unles syou are trying to hack the network.

Net view doesn't show all network computers in Windows 2012 R2

We have Symantec Endpoint v12 running on Windows 2012 R2. It used to be working fine and we could see all network computers in Endpoint Protection Manager. Since last Friday, the Endpoint Protection Manger can see only two computers. If I run new view
command on the server, it also shows only these two computers. If I open Windows Explorer and then Network, I can see all network computers. The network discovery and share has been enabled. Other servers and computers don't have this problem. What could be
the issue?

Can view net camera with E-63

again i am putting the isue , I would like to see net camera and access Pc on remote whot should do with E63,

For the white screen try:
- A reset;
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Connect to your computer and try to restore via iTunes
- If still white screen. let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try the above again.
If still problem then it appears you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Export to text from CR viewer

Hi all,
I need to export my report to the plain text. This option is available in designer (2008), but it is not in the viewer. Any idea how to export the report to txt from the viewer?

Are there dll for text export that can be installed on a machine where the viewer is called from

Customizing ActiveX Viewer for Crystal Reports 2008

Here's the scenario.
We have reports designed in Crystal Reports 2008, that are deployed on Business Objects 3.1 Infoview. All reports have Parameters for users to choose. All reports are expected to refresh on open.Some are dynamic some are standard static ones. There is an application developed in JAVA that is rendering these reports using the ActiveX viewer.
The users are not comfortable with the way reports look in JAVA viewer. Hence the choices are either HTML viewer or ActiveX viewer.
The application achieves this by making OpenDoc call to the report and using
sViewer=actx
as one of the parameters. Here's the issue that we run into. When users land on the parameter screen, the parameter screen alone Pops Up in a new window. Once all the parameter values are entered and the users clicks OK, the window vanishes and actual report is rendered in the original window.
If we use HTML viewer by setting
sViewer=html
The report Parameter screen is rendered in the main window without popping up. However we do not wish to use HTML viewer because, some of the reports are linked to other reports with OpenDoc calls. i. e. Parent report calls child report with a OpenDoc call. In the HTML viewer, when you click on the link to child report, it opens in same window despite setting
sWindow=new
in that opendoc call. Thereby losing parent report and no way to navigate back to it. This problem does not happen in ActivX viewer.There it seems to obey the command to open in new window.
Lastly you can recreate all this behavior by setting your viewer preferences in Info View settings.
So, here's my questions.
1. Should I use the .Net viewer instead of ActiveX Viewer ? If so, where can I find Syntax for the same ?
2. Can someone point me to documentation on the ActiveX Viewer ? Specifically making it not to Pop Up the Parameter Screen ?
3. Should the Java application use a different method other than Open Doc to cal the reports ? If so where can I get the details ?
Apologies for the long post. I tried to anticipate most of the questions that may arise in your mind. Thanks in advance for the time invested.

I already have the Open Document document you mentioned. Can't seem to search for the KB article in Marketplace. No results found.
Just to clarify, I do not want to avoid the Parameter screen. Its the fact that it Pops Up in ActiveX viewer is the issue. The only thing I want in ActiveX viewer is to make that screen appear in main window just like HTML viewer.
I understand that there is no difference as far as opendoc is concerned between .Net or JAVA. I am looking for the SDK behind the viewers themselves.
To my third question, your answer is what I was looking for. But need a bit clarification.

How do you capture real detail of sql errors in crystal viewer of CR2008

How do you captue the further details of an sql error when running a report in Crystal 2008 viewer (within a software application)? I get a 'failed to retrieve data from database. Details: Database Vendor Code: -nnnn' error where nnn is a number like 210074. If I run the same .rpt directly thru crystal I get a failed to retrive rowset. Then after choosing ok on that message I get another message with more details and this time (in this particular case) it happens to be 'Column XXXXX cannot be found in database or is not specified for query. Other times it could be something about excedding max length/precison, etc..
We recently switched from using the RDC CR10 to this new .net viewer way. With the RDC it gave us the 'meaningful" message so we could tell what was wrong. Using this new method it does not. Is there a setting for showing more detail or some coding that would give me the real message detail using cr2008?

Back in the RDC days we manually added a lot of code to capture the exception info. When CR was re-written in 9 we removed all custom "fixes" and error handling, we basically said any ANSII 92 standards rule apply. We just pass what the client gives us.
What this means is we dynamically pass the exception from the client to CR and interpret what we can or we simply pass the error code to the error UI.
What you can do is to use a try/catch block and create your own error table according to Progress Error codes to pass on a more meaningful message to your users.
We won't due to the vast amount of errors possible and the vast amount of DB clients we would have to maintain. If the client doesn't pass meaningful info onto CR then we just pass it's error onto the the end user.

Handeling errors thrown from report viewer ?

I am using Crystal reports 2008 (12.0.0.683) for developing windows applications in Visual Studio .Net 2005. I use Crystal viewer ActiveX control in our windows form application for showing the reports.
In my report, in the header part i am using sub reports. When the sub report gets extended too long then on lauching that report it shows me an error message that "page header or footer too long to display".
How can i catch this error in my .net code so that i can show my own custom message instead of this message? Also this error message does not come in the catch part of my try catch block in the .Net code ?

The error which i am getting is not while printin the report through printer, but while previewing the report in my windows form crystal viewer activeX control.
The error it displays is common, it happens when you have a exceptionally large page header/footer. You can try by yourself by creating a report with very big page header more than 20 inches in lenght. when you launch this report in .net viewer then it will display the error message that "page header or footer too large to display". But what i want to know is how to handle this error in my .Net code and how to catch this error in my .Net try catch block. Because i have obseerved this error message gets displayed inside the crystal veiwer control and is not passed to the .Net code. is there any way so that i can suppress this erro and displaying my custom message instead ?
In my report the page header gets extended beyond limit, because of the sub report i have used in the page header.
Any help will be appriciated.

Hello,
It looks like the MAX provider for NI-IMAQ 1394 may have been corrupted. This can usually be fixed by running a repair on the installer. You can do this by running the installer from Add/Remove Programs.

How to view live webcam that use windows media player and java

I am new to iphone and I have two live webcams that I like to go to and can't get either one on my iphone 3gs. www.ruidoso.net, view live webcam link and www.skiapache.com live webcam link. How can I get to them?? oram I just out of luck.

You've got to remember that, as powerful as the iPhone is, it's not a desktop computer. So certain things that have been designed for desktop computers may not work the same or at all. The owners of those websites probably never considered anyone wanting to view them on a phone.
The first webcam you can view on your iPhone by going to http://www.ruidosowebcam.com/camera0.jpg and manually refreshing the page to update the view. (The Java applet just refreshes the page, something they could easily have done in JavaScript for increased compatibility).
The second one I can't help with, as that one doesn't even work on my desktop computer, but WMV is a proprietary video format from Microsoft, which the iPhone doesn't play. You'd have to ask the website owners to use a more industry standard video format that the iPhone can play.

Alternative to Active X viewer

We are considering going to BOE 3.1, and have many .NET apps usiing the ReportClientDocument model.
The Active X viewer has been problematic, are there any other options to using this viewer in 3.1?

It appears your issues are related mainly to the download and install of the ActiveX Printcontrol (Printcontrol.dll) and not the ActiveX viewer (crviewer.dll). The activeX viewer was modified such that it does not need to be registered on a client machine, whereas the printcontrol.dll still does. What version of crviewer.dll are you deploying? What is the name of the .CAB file(s) being deployed through SMS?
XI3.1 still uses the printcontrol.dll for activex printing and your two options with the DHTML viewers (both the .NET viewer in custom apps and the DHTML viewer used in Infoview) are either to use the activex print control, or use pdf printing. If your end users do not have sufficient permissions to install the dll and they do not want PDF printing, then SMS deployment is the remaining option.
The "recurring problems" you mention sound like they are each different.
1. page navigation.... where does this occur? in your custom apps or in Infoview or both? this sounds more like a postback issue and not an activex issue
2. hitting the print button displays an error on the page. What's the error? if you get a yellow exclamation mark in the bottom left of the browser window, click on it and get the detailed javascript error message.

Intermittent loss of UNC path access on Windows Server 2012

Hi All,
I hope someone can help with a major headache we've been having on two Windows Server 2012 boxes since September this year. Basically, these servers will intermittently lose the ability to browse network shares from windows explorer and the only way we have
found to resolve this is to reboot. When the issue happens, we can't even log into the server as it sits at 'applying user settings' - presumably as it is failing to access the netlogon share on our DCs. If we have an active RDP session when the issue occurs,
we can connect. In this instance we see that if you enter a UNC path in Windows explorer and hit enter, nothing happens - no error messages or anything. The only way I can get any response is when trying to access the IPC$ share on another server, which gives
the following response:
\\server\ipc$ is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this resource, Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
The parameter is incorrect.
Everything looks right from a physical network perspective, as we can ping from the affected servers and DNS queries are working fine. I can even run net view from powershell and see the local servers and shares on these, however any attempt to access shares
just hangs the powershell session.
If I look in the SMBClient event logs, I can see entries like the following:
Event ID 30805
The client lost its session to the server.
Error: The transport connection is now disconnected.
This is made worse by the fact that when this issue happens, we can't even cleanly reboot the server (it just hangs) and have to perform a cold boot.
The firewall has been turned off and we have taken off our antivirus software to eliminate it as a possible cause. We have even rebuilt one of these servers on a clean install of 2012 R2, but the issue re-appeared. We have also tried using different NIC
drivers (Broadcom NICs installed) to no avail. We have also tried disabling IPv6.
We have logged a ticket with Microsoft support, who have come back telling us that this could be related to a known bug with DFS in 2012 for which a fix is being tested prior to release in a few weeks. However, I can't sit around on my hands until then on
the off chance that this fix will resolve our problem. These servers are hosting our production Lync 2013 front end service and when this issue occurs it breaks the address book search and response group services, so this issue is of critical importance for
us to get resolved asap.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

That's right, if you hit enter absolutely nothing happens, no error messages. It makes no difference if I try name or IP address - even trying \\localhost doesn't work. A few minutes later after trying, an entry appears in the SMBClient event logs as mentioned
in my original post. To me it looks like something deep within the networking operations of the OS is randomly breaking. Also, if I try to browse the network from Windows explorer, it just hangs. When I try to restart the workstation service, it just gets
permanently stuck in a stopping state and the server has to be cold booted. Once it boots up, everything is working fine again....until the next time. There is absolutely nothing appearing in the application or system event logs indicating the root cause.
I've checked and DNS resolution is working OK and I can telnet to other hosts on all the required ports.
I had originally thought it might be related to the Broadcom NICs as we've had issues with them in the past, but we switched over to use the 2012 inbox driver for them and the same issue happens. I should also mention that one server is a blade and the other
a rackmount box. Dell support have run full diagnostics on both and have come up clean, so it doesn't appear to be a hardware issue. The even more baffling thing is that we have a third server with identical spec and config that does not have the problem.
The only difference with this third server is that it is not part of a Lync pool pairing using DFS and sits in a remote location on a different LAN.
I had thought of trying to drop back to use SMB1 by disabling SMB2 and 3, but I'm not sure if this would adversely affect any other services.
This one really has me stumped.

A single report has db connectivity issues

I have several reports connecting to our Informix db by logging on to the Informix online server. All except one of these reports work fine. We view all the reports using the .Net viewer in the browser. This one report is able to open fine with the preview function of CR 2008, and when I navigate to the .aspx page that prompts for the parameter that page loads fine.
When I select the parameter and attempt to load the report I am immediatly greeted with one of four errors:

Yet if I leave the page there for a few minutes and then hit refresh the report occasionally opens.
I am not sure if this is the cause or effect or possibly irrevelant, but when this report fails to open we also get an error on the db side:

It should know the database, yet it is blank in that error. This happens only on this report while others use the same datasource. I have checked the .aspx page we use and it looks like it should.

The issue is in the OUTER. For some reason CR 2008 does not put parens around ssfnew:informix.wo wo,
    ssfnew@prod_on:public.wo_view wo_view. If we run the 2008 query with the parens in place the query finishes in 23 seconds as opposed to not finishing. Why the report sometimes loads is still a mystery.
We are tearing apart the report to see if rebuilding it will generate the correct SQL query, but this is not reasonable if we have several reports with this issue.
