Netapp All-Flash FAS (AFF) – What Does This Mean?
by NetApp A-Team Member Glenn Dekhayser, Practice Lead, Office of the CTO, Red8
A bunch of my contemporaries have published excellent technical blogs on NetApp’s recent release of their All-Flash FAS systems and simultaneous massive reduction in the acquisition and support prices of those same systems. So there’s excellent new info on how great these platforms perform, and how their costs are now in-line (or better) than competitors who have been flash-focused for a while now. Assuming the performance is there (and based on performance numbers I’m seeing in real-world scenarios, it is), and those costs are well understood, does this development mean anything important to the storage or converged infrastructure market? You betcha.
If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded

Hi
I dropped my macbook yesterday and it turned itself off. When I tried to turn it back on all I got was a white/gray screen with a flash folder with a ? in the middle of it? What does this mean and how do I get it to stop so I can log onto my laptop?Deev
Normally the question mark on the gray screen means it can't find the operating system. Have you tried booting up from the installation DVD? Do that, and when you come to the screen where it wants to begin a system installation you'll notice in the menubar where it say's utilites. Click on that and choose disk utility. from there choose your disk and try to verify and repair the disk. If you can you may want to also try and new install of the system. I don't know how much critical data you have, but reinstalling is an option. did you purcahse you from an Apple store? If you did you may want them to look at it. Hope this helps.

Why has my monitor suddenly begun to have a moiré pattern all over – it is even showing up on my icons on the dock? It appears to be very thin bright green vertical lines. I have a 2007 iMac which is running 10.6.8. What does this mean? I've attached some screen shots below.
Also experiencing some funky issues with my wireless keyboard. With new batteries, it will just stop functioning. Certain keys intermittently won't work. Also the fans go on as soon as I turn the computer on - some times they stay on and sometimes they don't. Ever since upgrading the operating system - I've been having many issues with this iMac. Not happy. Any answers out there? Thanks for your reply LexSchellings, There is no disc in the drive and I went through the suggestions you put forward on the phone with Apple support without any luck. I can put a disc in but it pops straight back out again without registering on finder.
The idea of using an external drive was to enable me to avoid the cost and loss of productivity whilst machine in repair... if I have to take it in to get the old drive removed than I might as well have a new internal drive put in, although I do worry about the reliability of these apple drives given my experience with this one coupled with my limited online research ... on line forums seem to be full of people with the same problem (although perhaps searching such forums is bound to make it seem a common problem as users with perfectly working machines are less likely to post (?)) Your reply suggests that no external drive will work whilst the existing drive is in place.
As a postscript: I do realise that this is a user forum ...my secondary question was asking if anyone knows how to put forward a case/complaint to Apple... I can't find a link on the support page that would enable me to do so and I was wondering if anyone on this user forum had any ideas/experience.. -
I'm a first time Mac user and I went to play my music on Itunes out loud and all the music I previously purchased will not play and then a pop up appears saying my computer is not authorized? what does this mean and how can I fix it?
You need to authorize the new computer that youre working with. First hover over the store button at the top of the screen and then select the authorize this computer button then a popup will appear where you have to put in your Apple ID and Password. Hopefully this works for you

I tried to save a video to IPhoto, and then when I tried to open IPhoto it told me I can't open the application because classic environment is no longer supported. What does this mean, and how do I get back all my photos and fix this? thanks.
With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know some details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what fixes have you tried?
where is you library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

When I open iTunes, I get a message that the files in my library are "unchecked." What does this mean and how do I fix it?
Windows - Ctrl-clicking a checkbox causes all tracks in the current display to become checked or unchecked.

It means exactly what it says:
Contact itunes support
It is saying this because you need to contact itunes support.
Have you considered doing what it told you to do? contact itunes support -

Click the Finder icon on the dock at the lower left of your Mac's screen, then open Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click directly on the Time Capsule picture
If you see an Update button, click it
Otherwise, click on the small amber icon and a message will appear to tell you why the amber light is flashing -

Hi, I was given an iMac Flat Screen over the weekend, it turned on ok, this morning when i turned it on there is a circle with a flashing ?, what does this mean, help!
It means that it cannot locate the operating system.
You need to reinstall from the disks that came with the iMac and which the vendor is required to give you. -
I am unablre tpo bring up my home screen. All I get is the i-Tnes logo and an image of the connector lug with an arrow pointing to the logo. What does this mean? Is it try to tell me that I need to sync? This has only happened since the IOS 7 update started.
It sounds like it's gone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
You will need to connect it to your computer's iTunes, and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/resync your content to it -

What does this mean?
My iphone 4s just developed a similar problem. Ultimately, after a visit to the Genius Bar at which I was offered a replacement phone for $149, I took the phone to a non-Apple repair shop which diagnosed the problem as tarnished pins in the docking connector and replaced the connector for $49.
The symptoms I experienced were that the phone would not pull a charge. I tried different cables, wall outlet versus computer USB connection, etc. The screen stayed black until I depressed the sleep button, at which time the red battery / lightening bolt symbol would flash three times and then the screen would go black.
If your battery is dead, that icon will not show up at all. If you get the icon, it means your battery is run down and needs to recharge, but the defective docking connector is preventing the battery from taking the charge.
