Netbeans 6.9.1 and bundled tomcat

I have installed a clean version of netbeans 6.9.1 bundled with tomcat and glassfish. We have moved to netbeans from eclipse. All was working fine until about a week ago. We can start tomcat fine, from within netbeans. But when it comes to restarting or stopping the tomcat server from within netbeans, netbeans attempts to stop it for about 2 minutes and then reports: Stopping of tomcat failed. This means that everytime we want to stop tomcat we have to tell netbeans to stop tomcat and then end java.exe from task manager. No config files have changed, as far as I am aware.
Any ideas are appreciated!
P.S. Tomcat is 6.0.26

I am mexican and sorry for english, well lets see, there are a botton then you select a server, click on it "add" then appear alist off servers for default, down appear a textbox called Name, set tomcat 4, then click next select catalina home fo tomcat 4 and other features, most work but, I have just used it to configure firts time the tomcat 6, dont know if that works to tomcat 4.

Starting bundled Tomcat without Netbeans

Hi,
I need to start the bundled Tomcat with Netbeans without actually starting Netbeans and rightcliking in Servers->Start Server eventually even put it at the startup of my computer. Anybody can help me do that?

Bundled tomcat is usually installed within the ide installation directory structure. For instance, if you are using Java Studio Enterprise 8.1, it is installed under <ide_install>/ide/enterprise2/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.9. For other ide versions, you can search the install dir for 'catalina.sh' to find out the directory.
To start the server outside the ide, move to the <tomcat_in_ide_install_dir>/bin. You should see the startup scripts/executables there.

Bundled Tomcat File Structure and Sun Studio Enterprise 8

I am having trouble using form authorization with Enterprise 8,
the bundled Tomcat and MySql.
Request clarification on what tomcat-users.xml is used by Ent 8.
I see the following in my configuration:
1) apache-tomcat-5.5.15-embed/conf/tomcat-users.xml
2) apache-tomcat-5.5.15/conf/tomcat-users.xml
3) C:\Program Files\Sun\jstudio_ent8\ide\enterprise1\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7\conf\tomcat-users.xml
4) C:\Document and Settings\motel\.jstudio\Ent8\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7_base\conf\tomcat-users.xml
I assume the first two are some type of windows cached.
Further, #3 I assume is initial or default tomcat-user file.
So is #4 the file that I want to edit so that my IDE can work with Tomcat?

Further, #3 I assume is initial or default tomcat-user file.I would agree with you; regarding the first two files, it is not clear how they came about since they don't seem to be in either the ide directory or ide-user directory; and also because the directories seem to point to a different version of tomcat, namely 5.15 instead of the ide-bundled 5.7... It is even possible that the first two are not related to JSE ide at all...
Regarding 3 and 4, your guess is right; 3 is the initial installation directory. This directory is not used by the ide at all for actually working with the tomcat server; this is because the ide-userdir is customizable via the command-line. You can have several user directories at the same time and switch between them by running './runide.exe -userdir <this-sessions-user-dir>'. Naturally the different sessions cannot use the same tomcat server since that would lead to conflicts. So the ide first copies the server installation to the current user directory and then runs the tomcat from there.

Email notifications per email account, and bundled together? (former Android user)

I made the switch from an old HTC Android to the new iPhone 5S two weeks ago and the one thing I cannot configure to my liking is email notifications in the notification center. I have multiple email accounts that recieve a moderate volume of emails on most of my accounts per day and need a quick way to view the activity of a given email account, not the app. I currently use two email apps as follows:
Mail - iOS7 native app
x2 Exchange email accounts
x1 Windows Live email account
x1 Yahoo email account
Gmail App
x2 Gmail email accounts
I have configured the notification center to notify me for all but the yahoo email account. The problem I have is that the notificaiton center only shows X number of recent emails (selected in settings) the APP has recieved, and does not say which email account it is, or how many extra emails on top of X that I selected were recieved. My phone is on silent 24/7 and the only vibrates for phone calls and text messages. I will periodically check the notification center throughout the day and use it as a summary of what has happend since the last time I checked.
On my Android, each email account would have two lines in the Android Notification center. The first unread email on an account would use those two lines to tell you the subject line, time recieved, email account, the total number of unread emails, and the app. Once that account gets two or more emails, it simplifies to say the number of new messages, time the last one was recieved, the email account, the total number of unread emails, and the app. What is really nice about that setup is that each email account had two lines in the notification center, no matter what, and at a quick glance I can see which email accounts are really acitve and I probably need to check on. If one email account was really active and I wanted to check on it, I could select the single notification for that account and it would take me to the (already updated) inbox where I can quickly browse to see what all the emails are about. At this point it may sound like it is just different and I just need to get used to the iOS7 interface, but let me share an example where iOS7 lets me down, and Android has done well for the last couple years:
During M-F from 8-6, my two exhange accounts and one of my gmail accounts are the only accounts I care about. One exchange account receieves 5-20 emails per hour, and the other exchange account might recieve 1-5 per day. Only a small percentage of those 5-20 emails need a priority response, but the account that gets 1-5 per day are emails that I need to know about and respond to right away. What happens in the iOS7 notification center is that I may not even see a notification for the email account that gets 1-5 emails per day, and if I do, it only tells me the sender, subject line, and some of the body if I allow more than 2 lines - it does not specify which email account it was sent to. I can choose 1, 5, or 10 emails to be displayed for the Mail App in settings, but the 5-20 emails I recieve can bump the 1 important email from the one account out of the notification center.
Is there a way to configure notifications per email account, and bundle all the recieved emails (by saying "# New Messages" or similar) on a given account into 2-4 lines? My ultimate goal here is to not lose a notification on one account due to the high volume of another, but to also keep them concise enough that I don't need to scroll through a massive list of notifications like one giant inbox.
I would appreciate any tips or advice to configure the notification center better for my use case. Thank you!

Yeah.. I have problems with all apps that have notifications.
Forget the Google Gmail example.. I'll use imo, Groupme, and Facebook as examples.
I see the notifications. But when I open the app, it won't show the newest received messages. It will take a few second before the app would refresh.
With my Android experience, all apps would update with the new information in the background. It appears that even though the apps are running in the background in iOS, the actual app appears to be paused until you reopen the app. That's when the app will refresh with the new information.

Problem installing and configuring Tomcat

I am quite new with Java and feel like a typical dumb blonde. OK, I am using an 'ancient ' version of the Java Development Kit, which is j2sdk1.4.1_01 (for the purpose of my studies, though I know there is a newer version available).
I am also using Windows XP Professional Edition.
I need to install Tomcat for my studies and asignmentd and have a CD which was given via my training institution. This is Apache Tomcat version 4.1.18 (yes, i know there are newer version available).
I have followed the installation steps they have given, installed it to C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1
I have set the JAVA_HOME as follow to C:\j2sdk (in the envir0nment variables)
and
CLASSPATH as follow to: .;C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\common\lib\servlet.jar
(or append \common\lib\servlet.jar to the location where you installed Tomcat) _
what do they mean by this and where, how ?
Interesting enough they say the above CLASPATH should show as System variables, but mine does not appear there, but instead as user variables for me.
OK. I installed everything and got the shortcuts icons for "Start Tomcat" and "Stop Tomcat"
Now I needed to test the Tomcat Installation. I was asked to double click the "Start Tomcat "icon. Minimize the command prompt window opened by Tomcat, then to start my web browswer ( I am using Internet Explorer version 7). Don't know if one should be online or oflline ? When the browser windows open, type http://localhost:8080/ in the Adress box and then press the ENTER key.
I should have received a webpage showing Apache Jakarta Project indicating setup for Tomcat was sucessful.
Well, i don;t get it.
First of all, when clicking the shortcut icon "Start Icon" it gives a message and tries to locate java.exe. I don;t know where this should be located.
Thenthey browswer does not give me a page to say setup is sucessful. instead i get

OK, I as said I have a short cut created on my desktop, "Start Tomcat" as well as "Stop Tomcat".No, open up a command shell, navigate to the Tomcat /bin directory, and run the start script. You'll be able to see the error messages that way.

Services to start and stop Tomcat

I have Tomcat 4.1.27 on a Windows 2000 Server where the startup.bat doesnt work and I have to startup the container using the Windows Services tool. The server also doesnt show any Tomcat console window so I can see what is happening.
The startup.bat just pulls up a window real quick and it disappears and the container never starts up. The shutdown.bat does shut down the container but I use the Server Services to shutdown the container when needed.
Please advise if this is normal and anyway to change it to how I have it in my local develper environment. In my local developer env, I use startup.bat and shutdown.bat and see Tomcat console window after it is started up and the console window stays up so I can view it.

I have the same env. I faced the same problem. Go to cmd prompt and go to tomcat bin directory, before that set the JAVA_HOME in the windows Env properties or open Catlina.bat file and set the JAVA_HOME. After setting the JAVA_HOME setup, give the command as like this "catalina run" in the command prompt, the command prompt window will not be disappered. If you give "Catlina start" a new tomcat startup window will be opened. If any error occurs on startup the window gets disappered.

Questions about where to Unbudle and Bundle

I have been wondering lately, as I clean up some code, how much it matters where clusters are unbudled and bundled. Please refer to these two pictures, and, if you could, provide your opinion. Thanks!

I don't think you will save much memory between a single large string and a cluster. You will however make the code more obtuse. I would recommend against using the string. I have often thought about the best approach for passing data around and have in the past used a "God cluster" which was a cluster of clusters. Each internal cluster had the data organized in a logical fashion and kept related items together. The "God" cluster was used primarily to provide a single wire through the state machine. Each state would only need to extract/update the data on the cluster that it needed but from a BD standpoint it reduced the clutter of wire. When I bundled/unbundled and I would not show the full name so it looked more like a wire with the single cluster.
I have been thinking more about an LVOOP option. A base class could be defined which provided the methods for setting/getting configuration parameters. The derived classes would implement the specific instances of the the data related to the specific configuration data. I would think this approach would use a name to do the lookup for the specific parameter. Some of the methods could include the means to read or write these parameters from an ini file. This approach would work fairly well for defined data types but I'm not sure how well it would work for typedefed data. I haven't had time to investigate this much further than a thought experiment. The one benefit of this is that it would provide a standard method for all of my applications. The downside though is that it might take a bit of BD space since it would require the code to specify the object type it was dealing with every time it acted on the class wire.

Collecting and bundling messages - transformation n- 1 messages problem

Hi guys,
I try to implement the scenario with collecting and bundling messages. I have a question: when you look at the samples in Basis6.40 SW Component, namespace http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Patterns, there is an example, which uses message mapping BpmPatternCollectMerge.
My question is: how can this mapping work??? it is mapping of N messages into 1 of the same type!!
And when you try to test it, it does not work...
Can you help, how to solve it? Or any ideas for other possibilities, how to merge the messages?

To perform a N:1 transformation, these are the follwing important steps,
DESIGN
1. In your message mapping, make sure that the occurence of the source message interface is made to be n.
2. Likewise, in your Interface mapping, the occurence of the Source Message Interface should also be made N.
CONFIGURATION
If you are using SP14 or SP15, the mapping can be done without a BPM as follows,
u will have to go for a BPM with a receive step inside a loop with a multiline container element and the transformation step outside the loop to do the N:1 mapping

Collecting and bundling messages from multiple interfaces using BPM

Hi friends,
I am currently working on bpmpatternmultilf(without condition).
In my source i have 3 messages having same message type.
Message type:
ID
Overall no
In the source i am placing 3 files like
message1.txt ID 100 Overall no 200
message2.txt ID 100 Overall no 300
message3.txt ID 100 Overall no 400.
I have used correlation element as ID.
But in the target file I am getting the result as ID 100 Overall no 200.
Overall no 300 and 400 are not present?
I understand that the messages are not getting collected and bundled?
Please help me out on this.

To collect the message of same message interface, if you know that all the files will exist for a while,
and next bundle of file will come to the folder after a period of time saying 30 minutes.
You can have your receive step, followed by container operator to append individal messages to multi-line elements.You will need deadline block, put timeout to saying 10 minutes.
This to say that you collect all the messages in 10 minutes, and put them in multi-line elements, now you collected all the messages with different ID.
Next you need to design you multi-mapping, since your message is based on ID, you multi-mapping is m:n
Eventually, you will need transformation step to call the multi-mapping, map the multi-line elements to n target messages. Your final send step send n files to your target system.

I am trying this Collecting and Bundling Messages - One Interface my interface is File .
Followed all the steps in the SAP documentation under Examples and Usage cases.
But I get only one message from the inbound channel .
when I check the Mapping in the MONI . It shows 2 instances of interface in the MessageIn but the output message of the BPE moni shows only 1 message . Message that is in the first instance of the Mapping IN .
Is it error in the multi mapping ? can some body through some light on this ..

I made source and Target Msg type as 0.. Unbound and Multiline for Transformation step.

how do I test Multi Mapping ? and when I check the MONI->PE --> Technical Details --> Mapping --> MappingIN
It shows 1 entry but the nestted table shows both the file contents that I have put in the Sender Communication channel.
I am putting 2 files in the Sender CC and expecting these two file contents to Merge and give me 1 file as out put . this is the scenario understood from the SAP documentation please correct me if I am wrong .

Netbeans 6.9.1 and JavaFX formatter

Is there any idea why Netbeans 6.9RC1 has a better javafx formatter than 6.9.1?
I'm always using the formatter with below configuration.
extend tab to space = no
all curly brackets are on new line
Netbeans 6.9 RC1 has deficiency in some points:
-insert a before a.content[i]
-i18n strings : ##""
-in string expressions: "...{some-expression}"
But Netbeans 6.9.1 has also same bugs. Even worse. My 800 lines of code become 1000 lines when I ran the formatter (adding extra spaces after each keyword).
I wonder whether the fx team is using the formatter in netbeans. I really ask this not for criticizing. Before 6.9.1, I guessed the problem of formatter was that only small code segments were tested.
But in 6.9.1, some sample codes in formatter are also wrong formatted.

After consulting the integrated Netbeans help on the topic I was convinced that this should work the same in Netbeans. Can any experienced Netbeans developer assist me in this please?

I haven't studied your problem in detail and don't actually use Tomcat 6, but in earlier versions of Tomcat the handling of JNDI leaves a lot to be desired. If you search this forum for posts about Tomcat and JNDI, you will find some useful information.
One thing I found was that you really need to use the context.xml file in your Meta-inf directory, putting the datasource anywhere else gets into one kind of trouble or another. I tried using server.xml, a context file for the application and the web-inf file.

Reorganizing Applications and Bundles in MDT 2008

I took over our MDT 2008 administration awhile back and have always wanted to do some spring cleaning of the applications and bundles in the DeploymentToolkit and to create a new folder structure a way that makes more sense to me. I'm paranoid to do so however
since this is such a critical piece of our environment. Can someone tell me if it's safe to move applications and application bundles around within DeploymentToolkit? If an application is part of a bundle, moving it wont break the dependancy will it? Thanks

Your good to go. The bundles reference the applications using their GUID, so their location is irrelevant. Clean away. While your at it, use Micheal's script to sort the share. That does wonders for cleaning up!

Retired devices and bundle status

Hi all!
I might missunderstad the documentation, but as I read it a device that is retired should loose it's bundle and policy association. According to documentation "As a result, all inventory information is retained and is assessable but all policy and bundle assignments are removed".
When I check the bundle status many of my retired devices is listed under pending, event with bundles created after the device got retired.
Any suggestions?

What is the difference between cluster patch and bundle patch

hi every one
can any one please tell me the difference between cluster patch and bundle patch ... for what purpose we apply cluster patch and bundled patch

There is no inherent difference between a patch cluster and a patch bundle that I am aware of.
Its just a name for collections of patches.
For whatever reason, the regular collections of recommended patches that sun puts out happen to be referred to as the recommended patch cluster.
The "all patches to bring you up to 5/08" that sun is putting out happens to be being called the 5/08 patch bundle.
I don't think they meant anything by the distinction. But thats the first time the term "patch bundle" has been used that I'm aware of.
So maybe there is some new patch delivery/installation technology implied. But I doubt it.
