Netbeans palette does not work
Hi.
I've had problems with Netbeans and JavaFX. I downloaded Netbeans 7.2 (SE) and JavaFX SDK 2.1 and I can create a JavaFX application in NetBeans normally, but I can not access the palette of componets of JavaFX. Actually, the palette is empty. Does anybody know what is happening?

JasperReports does not work outside Netbeans
Hi guys,
Background story: application with a couple of forms, the data can be stored and saved from a sqlite database. In the end the forms need to be saved as a PDF.
Netbeans 6.7, JasperReports 4.0.2.
Libraries in my Classpath: Commons-beanutils, Commons collections, commons digester, commons javaflow, commons logging, iText, Jasperreports
I tried to use JasperReports for this matter. It runs perfectly when in Netbeans, and my PDF is generated.
However, when I try to run the compiled .jar file from windows explorer... the whole JasperReports part does not work at all.
I made a simple example showing my problem. It produces a nice 1 line PDF when in netbeans, but outside Netbeans, nothing again.
Could you give me some advice on this? Or maybe an alternative for JasperReports?

Merge to HDR Pro does not work on Nikon D800 RAW (NEF) files
Hi,
I can't get Merge to HDR Pro to work on NEF RAW files from my Nikon D800 - nothing happens after after confirming the file selection. However, it works ok if I convert those files to DNG (using Lightroom 4), and if I use the D800's JPGs, and if I use Nikon D7000 NEFs. It just seems to be a problem with Nikon D800 NEFs.
Steps taken:
1. File -> Automate -> Merge to HDR Pro
2. Browse... and select NEF files (even selecting 2 files does not work).
3. Attempt to Automatically Align Source Images is checked. Then press OK.
Expected result:
Progress cursor spins as files are loaded and HDR dialog appears.
Actual result:
Nothing happens - no progress cursor or CPU or disk activity - it is as if I had clicked cancel instead of ok.
This is a clean install of the 64 bit CS6 beta on Windows 7 64 bit, with no plugins, and I reset preferences (Ctrl+Alt+Shift on startup). I do have my existing CS5 Extended still installed, as well as Lightroom 3.6 and 4.0.
I can send you the NEFs if you like.

The Ps CS6 public beta version contains the same camera support as found in Ps CS5/5.5 compatible CR 6.6. There will be future updates to CR 7 for Ps CS6 to pick up more camera support. The Nikon D800 NEF files are not supported, yet.
If you like to work with your D800 files in the public beta build now, you'll have to get the DNG Converter 6.7 from here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-7/
and convert your files to DNG.

Image display control scrolling does not work properly when zoomed in
I am using a ROI on an image in the image display control. When zooming into the image to fine-adjust the positioning of the ROI, the image scrolling does not work properly. As far as I understand, the image should scroll automatically when the ROI is leaving the visible area. However, the scrolling behaviour seems to depend on the origin of the Labview panel, not the origin of the image display control, which might require to move the ROI way out of the visible area before the scrolling takes place. In other words: the coordinate system of the image display control is shifted with respect to the true visible image area, depending on where you place it on the front panel. As a consequence, when clicking on a ROI which is in the visible area, but is outside of what Labview thinks is the visible area, it might immediately jump to the left border of the image, making the positioning of the ROI really difficult.
Has anyone noticed this behaviour, and what would be a reliable solution to avoid this?

no, I am not talking about the tools palette. Just place an image control with some image in it on a new VI front panel. Then, use the rectangle from the tools and select a ROI in the image. If you zoom in (using the magnification glass), and then grab the ROI and move it around, the image scroll with the ROI. So far, so good. If you now place the image control elsewhere on the panel, or add new control above it, resize the panel, etc. , this scrolling when moving the ROI will not work correctly if the origin (0,0) of the panel is far away from the image control.
I have attached a VI for simplicity (although there is hardly any code in it).
If you make a ROI and try to move it down, you will notice that scrolling starts if you move the mouse out to about 10cms below the image (depens on your screen, of course). After that, if you click on the ROI, the scroll bars and ROI might jump up to the upper end of the image. Imagine how annoying this is if you try to finely adjust the ROI position.
I think it is a bug in the implementation of the image display control.

Delphi Client Web Service does not work fine

Character palette does not allow insert
In the character palette, I can select every glyph. I can examine every character, Roman or not. However, the Insert button is always grayed out. This appears to be application-independent. It worked fine in 10.4.3.
I'm sure there is some plist file I must delete, but I'm not sure which one. Any ideas?I have reinstalled two of
the applications in which this happens, to no avail.

Not necessarily. I think there are some apps, including AppleWorks, that it just does not work with now, so you have to use the keyboard for special characters (or a replacement like PopChar). I doubt reinstalling the OS is going to fix these app specific issues. -
Jakarta Commons -- File Upload does not work with Application Server

I tried Jakarta Commons file upload. In the netbeans, I copied the common jar files "commons-io-1.2.jar" and "commons-fileupload-1.1.1.jar" in the
netbeans-5.5\enterprise3\apache-tomcat-5.5.17\common\lib and set the class paths. It is working correctly when I compile and run from the netbeans. 1. servelet-api.jar
2. commons-io-1.2.jar

No need to set any class path.

Fluke 5500A Driver does not work
I am connecting my computer to the Fluke 5500A Calibrator. Using Labview 7.1 and VISA 3.2. The driver from the web does not work. Do I need to download the old version of the VISA? Has anybody facing the same problem?

LianIn order to help you, you should really give some details on what exactly doesn't work. I did look at the driver though, and have one suggestion. It uses an old VISA Open function in FL5XMCAL Initialize. You should replace it with the VISA Open on your palette. When you do that, the wire to the string called Instr.Descriptor is broken. Delete this string, make the VISA Session control visible, and wire this to the connector pane where the string control was wired. If you want, you can also replace the string controls in the 2 VIs that call the initialize function with VISA Resource Names as well. These are the 2 Getting Started VIs. I've never used this instrument but I've never had much luck getting a driver with the "old" VISA Open function to work. Having a VISA Resource Name on the front panel makes things a lot easier anyway since you don't have to type in an address. Just click the arrow and pick from the resources available.

Alt shift clear paragraph overrides does not work

This is one of those little things that is becoming very frustrating-- crtl +shift+ click on paragraph style does not work all the time. It worked for me last week, but is not working today-- or it actually does work after click about 3 times , clicking another style and clicking back on the correct style. Anyone experiencing this/know a fix or what I may be doing wrong? It shouldn't work at all. Those modifiers are for the clear overrides button at the bottom of the styles palette. Alt-click on the style name to clear all overrides. I believe this is different behaviour from CS2 (or am I thinking of CS) where alt-click cleared character overrides and alt-shft-click cleared everything. -
Following code does not give me transparency beyond the circle. Circle is placed in the white square.... Whats strange is that if I run my application as Web Start, i get the transparency. In Standard Execution mode it does not work... NetBeans 6.8, JavaFX 1.2.1, Java 1.6u17 Windows 7 x64.

If I run above code in Standard Execution mode transparency does not work, i have white square background. If I run it in Web Start it does work properly. If just copy the above code into the text file and compile it using command line javafxc and run with javafx White Square Background is still Visible... Em.merge does not work while em.persist does?

...When I call the method setList for a non existing key, the entity is stored in the database. When I call the method for an existing key, the old value is not updated by the new, i.e. the merge method has no effect. If I comment out the 2nd alternative, it has no effect either. I will try to summarise my knowledge of the JAVA persistence API as the documentation is not always clear and may be misleading.
In SQL you have 4 main statements: INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE.

em.persist(Object entity) -> INSERT
em.find(Class entityClass, Object primaryKey) -> SELECT
em.merge(Object entity) -> UPDATE
em.remove(Object entity) -> REMOVE
However, practice shows that this is NOT the case!
em.merge(Object entity) does exactly the same thing as em.find(Class entityClass, Object primaryKey)! The only difference is that the em.merge(Object entity) method takes a detached object of the entity class as argument with the same primary key as the attached object you are loading.
Detached objects are objects of the entity class the database manager is not aware of. Attached objects are objects in the database and are managed by the persistence context. Every newly created object of an entity class is detached. You can attach them to the database with the em.persist(Object entity) method call. Attached objects can be retrieved with the em.find(Class entityClass, Object primaryKey) or with the em.merge(Object entity) method. All changes made to attached objects are automatically stored in the database. There thus is no explicit method for the UPDATE statement. You just make changes to attached objects and the entity manager copies the changes to the database (at the end of the persistence context). An easy way to make all the changes you need at once is to have a detached object that contains the right values and then copy all these values to the associated attached object with a self defined copy method in the entity class as in

// <-- end persistence contextIf you are working with session beans, the persistence context standard begins with the beginning of a transaction and ends with the end of a transaction. A transaction standard begins with the start of a session bean method and ends with the session bean method. If you choose to, you can make the persistence context of type extended with

private EntityManager em;In this case, the persistence context ends when the session bean is removed from the EJB container. (Can be useful to keep attached entities in the state of an stateful session bean.)
Without session beans, you have to declare explicitely the start and end of a persistence context or transaction, but I refer to existing documentation for this, as I do not actively know how to handle things without session beans.
Finally, the methods em.persist(Object entity) and em.merge(Object entity) use a detached object as argument, while em.remove(Object entity) uses an attached object as argument (using a detached object results in an Exception thrown).
