Netboot: No sharepoints defined

Ok, at first I thought I just messed something up, then it happened again.
I have Server 10.7 installed on a MacPro tower. The only purpose of this machine is to be a NetBoot server for imaging my labs and classrooms.
I have the server installed and the NetBoot service configured correctly, I know this because I have successfully imaged multiple machines off of it. However twice now I come back from the weekend or other extended period of time to find the NetBoot service shutdown. The logs read as follows:
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: interface en0: ip 10.100.10.161 mask 255.255.255.0
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: interface en1: ip 10.100.12.55 mask 255.255.255.0
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: bsdpd: re-reading configuration
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: bsdpd: shadow file size will be set to 48 megabytes
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: bsdpd: age time 00:15:00
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: bsdpd: no sharepoints defined
Aug 27 17:16:56 basestar bootpd[568]: bootpd: NetBoot service turned off
The catch is no one and nothing has touched this server in that time. This has happened twice now. The first time I did tons of searching and reading and could find nothing on the topic. I tried changing settings but to no avail. The first time I unchecked all options stopped the service, removed the service from server trashed every preference I could reference restarted and selected the image and client volume and still got the same error. As this was a machine only for this purpose I wiped it and started over and successfully brought the server back and the images. Now the exact same thing has happened again. This worked last week come back today to try it and find this.
This time however every time I hit the save button on the NetBoot window to attempt to reselect the image location it blanks out and I cannot get a response.
I found in another forum about running a fullstatus of netboot from the terminal and this is my output:

There were some lines about previous clients I removed from the paste because I figured they dont really matter at this point.
If anyone can offer me a solution that wont involve me refreshing the server again I would appreciate it, especially since this seems to be something that is reoccurring for some strange reason.
Thanks in advance. Hopefully this is enough information.
Here are before and after screen shots of the NetBoot settings window.
One last bit of info. There is only one hard drive in this machine. I have yet to change that variable, as I didnt see it as much of an issue considering the configuration. Tell me if I am wrong though.

You missed the part where I said at this point I cannot select images, the screen blanks out when I do (see the screenshots).
Yes they are both connected as this machine hosts across two different network segments in different ranges.
Like I said, it worked. For some reason it just stopped working with no input from me or anyone else (I am the only one managing this server and the only one with Admin creds). There were no machines booted to these images either. Literally changed over the weekend apparently on its own.

  • Netinstall Problem - clients cannot see boot image

    Hi all,
    I really want to be more efficient at deploying images out to the more than 100 Macs I am in charge of in my job. So, I've been researching all my options, and finally decided to just jump in and build an image to deploy!
    I was pleasantly surprised at how easy instaDMG was to work with, and though I don't expect it to go smoothly, would really like to try out deploying my image to a machine for the first time. I realize that I can't do this until I boot said machine from an alternate OS source than the one that runs the hard drive of the Mac. So, I attempted and somewhat successfully created a netinstall image.
    I have been unable to boot the Mac on my network that I want to try deploying to from the netinstall image I created and put on my server. I have researched and tried everything I can find, but I am totally at a loss now about how to make this Mac recognize on bootup that there is something for it to grab on the network. All I get is the flashing world at start up, and then after a few minutes of that it gives up and boots from its hard drive.
    Please help me! How can I make this thing work?
    Here is what I have tried:
    I created the netinstall image and placed it in the /Library/NetBoot/NetBootSP0 folder that was created when I activated a NetBoot server.
    I set up the NetBoot and NetBoot Client sharepoints for access, and even created an additional new user called "image" (nonadministrative) for later authentication.
    I also tried telling these two sharepoints to automount, thinking maybe that was the problem.
    It is entirely possible that some of the settings I chose to use during set up of any of these things were wrong, though I tried to follow instructions I had from numerous places as carefully as I could. The problem is, I am not a networking person, and really am a biologist by trade - the computer stuff is an aside, and a self-taught sort of thing.
    Can someone help me trouble shoot my issue here?
    Thanks much in advance!

    Hi
    +"Could that be the problem? If so, how do I fix it?"+
    Apart from the advice Brian has offered you should be aware of some general information regarding the Service itself. The Service does not work wirelessly. There needs to be a DHCP Service running somewhere on the same network. Clients 'discover' the Service using DHCP, BDSP, BootP and TFTP. The DHCP Service does not have to be on the Server itself. Netboot does not traverse subnets easily. If you don't have the facility to traverse subnets (ie: switches capable of providing an IP Helper address for the NetBoot Server itself) then you will need to either (a) place a NetBoot Server at each subnet or (b) use Routers or VLANS to route/relay appropriate traffic for each subnet.
    +"You mention an IP Helper. Is this something in my server software that I have already?"+
    No
    +"Or an additional downloaded program?"+
    No
    An IP Helper Address is configured in your switch (if capable) as already mentioned. You could approach this another way? Configure the DHCP Service to hand out IP addresses to your mac clients that are within the same subnet as your NetBoot Server. Or you could look at it another way and re-assign your NetBoot Server's IP Address to be one that is part of the same range as your clients. Obviously it needs to be an address that is not within the Clients' DHCP Pool.

    Explains what an IP Helper Address is.

  • Cost of OS X Server

    This may be a question to which there is no answer but...
    I have several Macs/PCs networked at home and I think that OS X Server may be a solution for me. I'm willing to spend a few hundred dollars to 'play' and see if I'm right. My 'playing' will likely extend over a few months at least since I am not in a rush and have never run a server before. I'll be learning as I go.
    OS X Server (10 Client) is currently selling at $325 CDN (educational pricing). Seems like a good deal to me. But Leopard is supposedly 'just around the corner' (this spring).
    Does anyone have experience with Apple and Server OS pricing? I can wait to get the 'newer' (Faster! Easier! Better!) Leopard OS - and in fact, maybe I should since I'm in no rush. But I don't want to wait and then find the price jumps to $600 or something like that - that would be a bit much for me to spend on my 'playing'.
    Any thoughts on previous experience? I am new to servers and have not followed pricing in the past. Thanks!
    David

    You should look at Network based home directories. Or, if you need to take any computers out of your house (laptops?) & still have access to data, you shuold look at Portable Home Directories.
    In either scenario, remember that all the data on your client machines will be stored on your server . You should ensure adeqate disk space and define a backup policy for the server.
    Here are some suggestions to help in the short term without requiring any investment in OSX Server:
    FILE SHARING, BOOKMARKS, DOCUMENTS
    1. Designate 1 Mac as your server.
    2. Install the excellent freeware, Sharepoints from www.hornware.com on the server.
    3. Define some sharepoints and users
    4. Set the sharepoints defined in step 3 as start-up items on your other Macs.
    5. Save all documents, bookmarks etc on the server sharepoint.
    MAIL
    If you are looking to host our own mailserver, forget OSX server (altogether, even in Leopard) and look into Communigate Pro http://www.communigate.com/content/default.html
    It has a free 5-users-or-less version. It has excellent webmail and security built-in.
    It will also allow you to do VoIP if you are looking to that. And FTP, web hosting, It's way more powerful & configurable & easier ootb that OSX server.
    You could continue using Entourage or Mail but using the excellent webmail interface will remove your commitment to any one machine.
    MUSIC
    iTunes sharing of a designated music server might be an option.
    REMOTE LOGIN
    You need to look into VPN. OSX Server has a good VPN server. However, you may find your home router has VPN also.

  • Neboot not restoring my image

    Hi,
    I created a Netrestore image of my Macbook Pro using system image utility. I then copied it to the /volumes/storage/library/netboot/netbootspo sharepoint, which was auto created for me. AFP and NFS protocols in use. I then placed a tick next to the ethernet port. I wasnt sure whether i need to tick images and client data so I ticked then both.
    I selected my image and initially selected HTTP. After not having any success I select NFS but to no avail.
    I switch on my macbook and press N, an icon of a globe appears and the following is written to a log. The machine looks like it is loading but nothing happens

  • Sharepoint Sites lost their defined color Themes

    Hello All,
    i have a MS Office Sharepoint Server 2007 deployed for years now. In the last two days the machine that hosts Sharepoint server had some SW issues and needed FW and Driver updates.
    After upgrading the server, i noticed that i couldn't open any of my Sharepoint sites.
    i was getting an error : "The website found, but you don't have permision to view it, you have to login" inspite the fact that i'm using the domain administrator account to login to these sites.
    After reading many posts about it, i managed to overcome the error and now i have access again to all my sites.
    Thing is that all of them returned to the default color theme (a light blue color) and despite the fact that i change it again to the desired Theme i want, they stay on the Default Theme. (i can see in the preview that the Theme is what i want, but when
    i hit Apply, nothing happens).
    Same thing happens if i open the site through the server itself and login as Domain Administrator.
    Does anyone knows what causes this and how to resolve it? it doesn't affect functionality of the sites, but i would like to know how to sovle this.
    Thanks,
    Elias

    Ok, i just soved the issue with the color Themes.
    I run the Sharepoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard, as Soni K suggested, and now all sites returned to the colord i've defined for each one of them.
    the issue with the Shared Services still stands...
    if i try to Browse the Shared Services Site through IIS i get " The website declined to show this webpage"
    This site requires you to log in
    This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that this program was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.
    Despite the fact that i'm logged in as domain Administrator.

  • SharePoint UserProfile telephoneNumber Not Defined

    Hello Experts,
    I am following this article https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/jj163142.aspx#bkmk_GetChangeUP to retrieve user profile properties from server object model. I am able to retrieve displayname and department but once I get the "telephoneNumber"
    property it give me "Not Defined  An administrator must create this property in the Profile Administration tool"!! I checked telephoneNumber internal name from the central administration and it is correct.
    any idea please? here is my code
    string targetAccountName = "domain\\username";
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://targetsite"))
    SPServiceContext serviceContext = SPServiceContext.GetContext(site);
    UserProfileManager userProfileMgr = new UserProfileManager(serviceContext);
    UserProfile user = userProfileMgr.GetUserProfile(targetAccountName);
    Console.WriteLine("\nName: " + user.DisplayName + ".");
    Console.WriteLine("\nDep: " + user["department"].Value + ".");
    Console.WriteLine("\nWork Phone " + user["telephoneNumber"].Value + ".");

    You may want to check the Policy Settings on the user profile property. Make sure the default privacy setting is set to "Everyone". You may also want to try checking the "Display Settings" and checking the "Show..." options.

  • Netbootclientsx sharepoint not showing in netbooted machines

    In 10.4 Server, when a machine booted over Network in diskless mode, a sharepoint called NetBootClientsx appear on desktop.
    Now, on Leopard, Diskless Netbooting is fine, but no sharepoint appear.
    Is there any hidden feature into some plist file?
    Thanks

    i'm not sure how it works with Sharepoint... however, i can tell you how we use the portal integration kit within WebSphere Portal.
    first, the PIK itself is only used for BO integration, not Xcelsius integration (unless you are doing SSO in which case the BO login module is required).
    the Xcelsius integration comes from creating the web parts on the client. For example, for WebSphere there is a tool that is loaded onto the client machine called "XcelsiusPortletCreationUtility". the purpose of this utility is to take a swf file and wrap it in a war file that can be deployed to the portal. i would assume that  Sharepoint works in a similar way with a client utility.
    also, within the Xcelsius file you must create a portal data connection, even if it's not actually used.
    please look through your Xcelsius documentation or try to find the specific document that explains Sharepoint integration.

  • Netboot: kernal panic at startup (clients) - no sharepoint tab for NetBootSP0

    Hey all:
    I'm trying to set up a Netboot image. Netboot Service is running, as well as NFS and AFP for the NetBootSP0 and NetBootClients0 sharepoints. Holding down N finds the NetBoot server OK, but I get a kernal panic when I select it. I get the globe and then the gear, and then PANIC. "NFS server refused mount" is the message.
    I've searched around quite a bit. I think I may have a lead but don't quite know how to fix it.
    When looking at the sharepoints in Server Admin I see the following for the two relevant sharepoints...
    NetBootClients0:
    NetBootSP0:
    From what I've read, I have to set the NFS export to World, but the NetBootSP0 sharepoint doesn't offer a SharePoint tab (compare areas indicated with the red circle), so I'm unable to select Protocol Options and confirm the NFS and/or AFP settings. Should this tab be there? Why might it not be?
    Any help is appreciated. I've been having quite the week looking into this.
    Thanks so much in advance.
    Michael

    I no longer have a 10.6 server setup, so I'm going from memory here...
    It looks like the sharepoint wasn't created properly. I would go into the NetBoot panel and completely tear down the configuration (disable ports, sharepoints, save.) Then reconfigure it and see if that causes the sharepoint to be configured properly.

  • NetBoot across subnets with a bootpd relay

    Hello Apple Community!
    I've got 4 subnets at my school, each with various Macs around campus.  I have a Mavericks server on each subnet currently, each with their own NetBoot images.  It's a pain to keep everything updated.  I can get a single client Mac (pre-2011) to boot across subnets using the bless command, but that's not really a viable solution for us to run a bless command on each client every single time we want to netboot.  So far, the solution has been just to have dedicated netboot servers on each subnet, but I know there has to be a better way.
    This article (OS X Server: How to use NetBoot across subnets - Apple Support) describes three different methods for netbooting across subnets, but two of them are not really viable for us.  Those involve reconfiguring the network to allow BootP data to pass across subnets or configuring one server with multiple network connections, one for each subnet.  However, option #2 describes configuring a bootpd relay.  Based on my reading, this sounds like exactly what I need.  However, I can't find any good documentation to walk me through setting it up.
    I've thoroughly read the bootpd man page, which has had me editing the /etc/bootpd.plist on multiple servers.  This hasn't gotten me very far.  My clients still don't see the remote NetBoot server.  It seems like the relay is supposed to redirect broadcasts from the remote Netboot server, through a local NetBoot server to the client.  But I have no idea how to make this work.
    Could someone please give me more guidance on what I'm supposed to be doing here?  I'd like to host a single NetBoot server and have any client on any subnet be able to option-boot to see the NetBoot startup options (I have multiple NetBoot images, from Apple Service Toolkit to DeployStudio and Mavericks/Yosemite installers in between).  Even if I could get it to just netboot to one default source (AST), I could deal with that.  I'm also happy to host multiple NetBoot servers, but with all my NetBoot images in one location.  I'm stumped in this multiple subnet environment and I need help.  Please help.

    Thanks again for your feedback.  I had forgotten I left the "tftp://" on the IP address.  Though, I've tried that multiple ways, starting with IP only.  Also, per the bootpd man page (https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man8/bootpd.8.html), <allow/> and <deny/> are lists for MAC address allowances and when nothing is defined everything goes through.  These are there by default, though I will remove them and see what happens.  Also, according to the man page, bootp_enabled enables on all connections when a boolean is set rather than an array.  Though I will still change this also and see what happens.  The array that comes after the netboot_disabled key is auto-generated by NetInstall when you turn the service on in Server.app.
    Essentially, that plist comes from a fresh activation of NetInstall.  I deleted the previous .plist, rebooted the server and when I turned on NetInstall, that's what was created, plus my bootp modifications.
    All that said, you said that you assumed I started the relay with the 'debug & logging' options enabled.  I haven't started the relay in any active sense.  So far, I've just been modifying this .plist, and rebooting a bunch of times, but that's where I seem to get lost.  Is there a way to actively "start" the relay?  I'd love to look at these 'debug & logging' options.  As for the 'Startup Disk' prefs on the client Mac, they do not show any significant change.  Basically, they just don't see the remote server as a startup option.  I have not gleaned any pertinent info from console, though I'm not sure I know what I'm looking for.
    On a side note, I had a wild hair to try something different.  I set my local subnet's server to look at a NetBootSP0 folder that was actually a symlink to a NetBootSP0 folder that was mounted as a file share from the remote NetBoot server.  This really looked like it might work.  When you boot the client, it saw the startup volumes from the remote server.  However, upon boot, it doesn't seem to make the connection and winds up booting back to the internal hard drive.  It was worth a try...

  • How to create a bc model for sharepoint 2013 that consume data from two Sql tables?

    Hi everyone!!!
    I have created several external contents using SQL Server databases as datasource. The thing is every time I created one, only consume one table and define operations for that table. I would need to create an external content that can contain the
    information of two tables. I tried to export the bdc model and type the query using left joins but nothing happens...I did it in that way for sharepoint 2007 and works!!!
    I know if a create a view in the database I can have the data that I want and I can create the external content using the view. But the thing is I don't have access to the database for creating anything, just read it.
    can anybody can help me, please?
    Thanks.

    Please follow this article to write SSRS reports with data source as SharePoint list/calendars etc. All document libraries, list and calendars are derived from base list class so you can use any of this type as a data source
    http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/2068/using-a-sharepoint-list-as-a-data-source-in-sql-server-reporting-services-2008-r2/
    Once your SSRS report is developed, you have multiple ways to show it in SharePoint
    - upload to SSRS server and show in sharepoint in a page viewer web part or simply open it as a link in new window
    - configure SharePoint environment with integration to SSRS and upload report to SharePoint library. Display report in a web part page using SSRS web part.

  • Excel Services with SharePoint List Data in SharePoint 2013 - Chart is not refreshing automatically

    Hi Everyone,
    This is My req: I m going to display pie chart and Bar chart in share point 2013.
    Steps I have follwed:
    1. Export the list to excel.
    2.Using the Power Pivot table I have done the chart.
    3. Uploaded into document Library.
    4. Added into the web part.
    Chart are displaying. But When ever user added the data into the list chart is refreshing.
    Is there any option to refresh the data in chart? Waiting for valuable replies.
    Regards, Manoj Prabakar

    SharePoint lists as data sources in Excel Services is not supported.That's the reason refreshing is not working. There are some work around you can use  -
    Export as Data Feed - Export your SharePoint list as Data Feed , use this data feed to a PowerPivot for Excel workbook and publish this PowerPivot using Excel Services.
    User-defined functions  - write UDF in C# and extend the Excel Services functionality to work with SharePoint lists.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/library/bb267252(office.12).aspx#Office2007ExcelServicesUnlimited_SharePointLists
    Web Services API -
    The Web Services API can be used to push data from a database and then refresh the data in a SharePoint Server list by using Excel Services.
    JavaScript Object Model - The JavaScript Object Model for Excel Services in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 provides many solutions for Excel Services.

    With all of this configured, I can go to the new test site, I do see the form where I can choose either Windows authentication or Forms authentication. I can successfully login with Windows authentication, but forms authentication gives me me an error.
    The server could not sign you in. Make sure your user name and password are correct, and then try again.
    I can successfully login to a LDAP management tool, using the same credentials I entered on the form, so I know the username and password being submitted are correct. I get the following items in the event viewer
    8306 - SharePoint Foundation - The security token username and password could not be validated.
    in the SharePoint trace logs - Password check on 'testuser' generated exception: 'System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.IdentityModel.Tokens.FailedAuthenticationException]: The security token username and password could not be validated. and
    then this:
    Request for security token failed with exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException: The security token username and password could not be validated.

    I monitored the LDAP server and did a packet-trace on the communication happening between the SharePoint server and the LDAP server and it is a bit odd. It goes like this:
    The SharePoint server successfully connects to the LDAP server, binding the ldapserviceid+password
    The LDAP server tells the SharePoint server it is ready to communicate
    the SharePoint server sends an LDAP query to the LDAP server, asking if the name entered in the form authentication page can be found.
    The LDAP server does the query, successfully finds the entered name and sends a success message back to SharePoint
    The LDAP server sends notification that it is done and is closing the connection that was bound to theldapserviceid+password
    The SharePoint server acknowledges the connection is closing
    ... and then nothing happens, except the error on SharePoint
    What I understand is that the SharePoint server, once it gets confirmation that the submitted username exists in LDAP, should attempt to make a new LDAP connection, bound to the username and password submitted in the form (rather than the LDAP service account
    specified in the web.config). That part does not seem to be happening.
    I am at a standstill on this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    OK, our problem was resolved by removing any information about the ASP.NET role manager. Initially, we had information about a role manager defined in three different web.config files, as well as in the SharePoint Central Administration site, where there
    is the checkbox to Enable Forms Based Authentication (you see this when you first create the new SharePoint app, or afterwards by modifying the Authentication Provider for the app.) In either case, you will see two text boxes, underneath the checkbox item
    for enabling Forms Based Authentication:
    "ASP.NET Membership provider name"
    "ASP.NET Role manager name"
    We entered a name for Membership provider, and left Role manager blank.
    In the web.config for the SharePoint Central Administration site, the SecurityTokenServiceApplication app, and the web app we created with FBA enabled, we entered the following:
    <membership>
    <providers>
    <add name="LdapMember"
    type="Microsoft.Office.Server.Security.LdapMembershipProvider, Microsoft.Office.Server, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"
    server="ldap.server.address"
    port="389"
    useSSL="false"
    connectionUsername="cn=ldapserviceid,ou=sharepoint,ou=test,ou=location,o=validobject"
    connectionPassword="validpassword"
    useDNAttribute="false"
    userDNAttribute="dn"
    userNameAttribute="cn"
    userContainer="OU=people,O=validobject"
    userObjectClass="person"
    userFilter="(ObjectClass=person)"
    scope="Subtree"
    otherRequiredUserAttributes="sn,givenname,cn" />
    </providers>
    </membership>
    <roleManager>
    <providers>
    </providers>
    </roleManager>
    useDNAttribute="false" turned out to be important as well.
    So, for us to get LDAP authentication working between SharePoint 2010 and Novel eDirectory, we had to:
    leave anything related to the role provider blank
    configure the web.config in three different applications, with the proper connection information to reach our Novel eDir
    Ensure that useDNAttribute="false" was used in all three on the modified web.config files.
    Since our eDir is flat and used pretty much exclusively for external users, we had never done any sort of advanced role management configuration in eDir. So, by having role manager details in the web.config files, SharePoint was waiting for information from
    a non-existent role manager.

  • Sharepoint 2010 on Windows 2012R2 and claims based authentication

    Hello,
    We have installed a sharepoint 2010 SP2 CU dec 2014 on a Windows 2012R2 server.
    The installation went without problems.
    However, we want to use claims based authentication on a certain web app pool.
    Therefore some configuration on IIS is required.
    The first issue we ran into, is the web application pool uses ASP.NET 2.0, which is the default settings.
    However, using this ASP.NET Version 2.0 the feature "Providers" and ".net users" are invisible.
    When changing the .net version to 4.0, the features comes back again.
    I can fill in the connection strings without problem.
    The providers feature however, gives me the following errors:
    There is a duplicate .... sections defined.
    When googling on this error, it seems that on .net 4.0 these sections are already globbally defined in the machine.config, So i removed these entries in the machine.config
    These are the lines that are "double"
    <section name="scriptResourceHandler" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingScriptResourceHandlerSection, System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" requirePermission="false"
    allowDefinition="MachineToApplication"/>
    <section name="jsonSerialization" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingJsonSerializationSection, System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" requirePermission="false" allowDefinition="Everywhere"
    />
    <section name="profileService" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingProfileServiceSection, System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" requirePermission="false" allowDefinition="MachineToApplication"
    />
    <section name="authenticationService" type="System.Web.Configuration.ScriptingAuthenticationServiceSection, System.Web.Extensions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" requirePermission="false"
    allowDefinition="MachineToApplication" />
    So after removing these lines, i can get into Providers feature in IIS.
    but, when i click on "Add..." i get the following error:
    Add Provider
    There was an error while performing this operation.
    Details:
    This method cannot be called during the application's pre-start initialization phase.
    OK
    I spent to much time already to solve this issue and i hope  that someone can give me some advice to address this issue.

    SSRS Expressions: Part 1 - Program Flow

    Jinchun Chen: "Perfect! Good article for SSRS newbie."
    Ed Price: "The table and images help bring it more value. Great job!"
    Anil Maharjan
    How to Schedule and Automate backups of all the SSAS catalogs within the

    Jinchun Chen: "Another great tip!"
    PT: "Nice tip"

  • Adding URL to Task in Visual Studio / C# SharePoint Workflow 2010

    I have a custom SharePoint Workflow (2010) using Visual Studio.
    During my task creation, I am populating my task using the .ExtendedProperties.  I get how to do it with strings, numbers and boolean.
    Now I want to add a URL (link) to the task.  I have the URL type defined for one of the fields of the task, but I'm not sure how I would format the values to pass in.
    MyworkflowTask.Item.ExtendedProperties["OriginalItem"]=??
    Since I need to pass in both the URL and description, not sure how to format this.
    Thanks

    You can use the SPFieldUrlValue class.
    SPFieldUrlValue value = new SPFieldUrlValue();
    value.Url = "http://www.certdev.com";
    value.Description = "very cool";
    MyworkflowTask.Item.ExtendedProperties["OriginalItem"] = value;
