Netflix app doesnt load on iPod 5

Recently, Netflix has stopped working on my iPod. The app doesn't crash or anything it just doesn't stop loading. I've checked the app store and there is no update. Any suggestions?

  • Streaming Netflix app on an older iPod Touch?

    Hi all you iPod gurus,
I've got an iPod Touch 2g running iOS 4.2.1.  I've been running the Netflix streaming app without major issues for a couple of years (version 1.4.0, build 930547).  In the last couple of weeks, it has just quit working.  I open the app and it goes to a gray screen after a few seconds.  I've deleted the app and restored it from a backup version, I've restored the entire iPod.  No change.  Any suggestions?  Has anyone had a similar issue?
Some additional information:  I tried the same version of the Netflix app on my son's newer iPod Touch with the same result.  Then I updated the app on that iPod to the latest version and that newer version worked fine.  This leads me to believe that the problem could be an issue between the older version of the app and the Netflix servers.  But updating the app is not an option for me; the newest Netflix app requires iOS 5, which my iPod does not support.  I'm a little bit frustrated, and I'm wondering if it's just my iPod or a more general issue.
Any help would be appreciated.  Even a simple, "I've got an iPod Touch 2g and my Netflix app runs fine" would be helpful.  Thanks much.
    Steve

    Devground,
I have a second gen ipod touch with ios 4.2.1 and am able to watch netflix (version 2.2.1, 9/21/12, 8.3 MB) on it as of today, December 1, 2012. I don't know if it's stable, but it's running right now. I recently had difficulties with the app when I tried to upgrade to the version that requires ios 5. Though I hadn't used it in a while, so I don't know if it was the attempted upgrade that caused my trouble.
I also don't know what ultimately fixed my problem and don't recall exact symptoms as it took a while to troubleshoot (slow os on this hardware) and attempted many things. However, I made sure that if I even had the new Netflix app that it did not overwrite the 2.2.1 version in itunes. I backed up 2.2.1 just in case.
Then, I deleted the old version from the ipod and reloaded it through itunes. It took a couple of times of doing this, disconnecting and power cycling the ipod before i was able to successfully login again.
Not sure what even did it in the end. After doing all the uncertain steps above and all but giving up, I read lllaass's comment on another post that suggested syncing, which I did after the uncertain steps above, and it finally worked. Unfortunately, I can't really answer specific questions on the method I used, but I'm sure that other 2nd gen users can confirm that they are also still able to use Netflix on their touch.
I hope this makes some sense - sorry it's so vague on details.
Good luck. And thanks lllaass, I guess!

  • Facebook App Not Loading on iPod

Somehow the Facebook icon was deleted on my iPod Touch. If I click on "Settings" and scroll down, there are still settings available for Facebook. I've tried to sync again with iTunes, but that did not change anything. I then unclicked the option to sync Facebook in iTunes. This got rid of the settings options on the iPod. I then deleted the app from iTunes and re-downloaded it. When I synced again, iTunes said it was installing Facebook to the iPod, but an icon never appears. The settings options reappear, but the actual icon never does. And when I try to download it again with the iPod, the "free" button is grayed out. ??

Did this change after you upgraded to 3.0? then this might be a compatibility issue.
Otherwise a restore of the ipod should do it: Plug it in to the computer > itunes > press ipod > (first tab there should have a button) > restore

  • Why wont apps store load on ipod5 wifi is on and signal is good

Why wont apps store load on ipod 5. wifi is on and signal is good

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon.  The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A."  The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC.  Do NOT use an iPhone charger.  Do NOT use an iPod charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.
    According to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • Netflix app for ipod touch not working - gray screen

I downloaded the netflix app today, but when I open the program it loads the netflix welcome screen then the screen goes gray and nothing happens. How do I get netflix to work on my 2nd generation ipod touch? I am running iOS4.

A friend from work came up with this, but I forgot to ask him how he came across it. I think his Ipad was working then stopped and he didn't change anything and figured out the time was off.
If most people are having a time issue it makes sense that mostly ipod touchs' are affected, since the iphone should sync its time via cellular magic and the touchs' don't do this.
I guess the netflix app is doing some sort of authentication and the time being off causes it issues.
Glad someone found this information to be useful, pass it along.

  • Why do I keep getting a page block error when trying to use Netflix app. I can't even load the website

Everytime I try to load the Netflix app, I get as far as the red screen and it stops loading. The iPad doesn't freeze, it just stops. Then when I try to go to their website, I get a blocked error message. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Some possibilities:
You are on a network that blocks streaming content or otherwise won't let you access it
You have restrictions set to block some content (Settings App, General, Resrrictions).

  • Why won't apps load to iPod?

Have a 4th Gen IPod.  When dragging apps from apps section to left margin to add to IPod the + sign changes to the circle with slash sign as margin line is crossed and apps wont load. Also, when using screen to rearrange apps, the app list an screen images are shaded/not accessible.  Verified ample memory space available.  Tried restoring IPod to factory settings and started over.  Still having same problem.  Music loads fine.  Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and ensure that Restrictions are OFF for installing apps.
Is the iPod signed into the account that purchased the app? (Settings>Store)
Yu staid yu restored to factory settings/new iPod. Did you do it via iTunes?

  • Netflix app is stuck in a loop. Tapping the icon sends you to the NETFLIX red sceen. Screen says it's loading but it reverts back to the icon screen. I've removed and reinstalled the app half a dozen times. Anyone have a fix?

Netflix app is stuck in a loop. Tapping the icon sends you to the NETFLIX red sceen. Screen says it's loading but it reverts back to the icon screen. I've removed and reinstalled the app half a dozen times. Works sometimes but then reverts back.

Try resetting your iPad by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

My HT BDV-N790W shows "needs network update" also my netflix doesnt load. Can i get some help, please.

There's a lot there, so I'll start with the parts I can answer quickly.
The "ACL found but not expected..." messages can be safely ignored, so says this article
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306925
(look below all the "SUID" examples)
I had changed my Desktop image earlier but when the "Installing 1 item" window came up it changed back to the back ground that you first see on your desktop after installation.
Leopard installs updates a bit differently. If it's simply an application that does not change system files, it installs them like before, without having to restart. If the update is to the system, then you must immediately "restart," It then goes to that stars and purple screen to perform the installation. Before, it would do the installation while you still had control of the Mac and would prompt you to restart when it finished the installation. This change probably make things more secure and reliable, because you aren't allowed to do other things on the Mac while system updates are being installed.
Please post back with the remaining point of concern.

    Compared to what?
Does Netflix behave differently on other devices?

  • Ipod 60g doesnt load with all my music

MY NEW IPOD 60 G DOESNT LOAD WITH MY I TUNES MUSIC,IS THE SAME THAT I USED IN MY OLDEST IPOD?

Suddenly the apps I downloaded won't work. The screen "blinks" for a second as if the app is loading, and then returns to the home screen. All the apps that came with the iPod seem to be working fine. How to get them all working again?

First try a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck, try downloading another free app from the App Store.

Lastly, try to restore the iPod from a previous backup or restoring it to factory settings.

  • Can I run the Netflix app on a 1st generation Ipod Touch running 3.1.3?

I have a 1st generation ipod touch running ios 3.1.3. I want to run netflix on it but when I try to install from itunes I get the message "The app "Netflix" was not installed on the IPOD because it requires a newer version of IPOD software." I have read from goggling this issue that netflix streaming on the 1st gen ipod is possible. What am I doing wrong? Or is this not possible at all?

"The "reason" that Netflix will not work with iOS 3.1.3 is because Netflix does so much that iOS 3.1.3 cannot handle it. SImple."
This is untrue, as was stated earlier:
I was running netflix on an itouch first generation ios 3.1.3 untill the glich with the app store.  The newest update will not run on it now and I lost the original version when I reset the Itouch thinking the problem was on my end.
If you had said it's "incompatible" instead of "cannot handle it" or specified the version of the Netflix, perhaps the new Netflix app is so incredible, or rather it "does so much" MORE, you might be within the realm of having some useful input, but the following:
    It would appear so!
leads me to understand you don't know what you're talking about or you're a wannabe company man and just lying.
If anyone else has useful information regarding running the Netflix app that certainly worked for us Netflix subscribers who are also 1g owners–and there are at least thousands, if not tens of thousands–and were using the app before we upgraded to 3.1.3 or restored and downloaded the latest Netflix app, it'd be great to hear from them.  1. 2. 3. SImple.
