Netflix on AppleTV in UK (iTunes account location in another country)

Netflix in UK does not run on my AppleTV - I get the warning that my iTunes account has location set to another country (Czech Republic is where I come from)
Now I was about to simply change the location to UK but I came accross this thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/11581689#11581689 (and there are many many more) saying there might be issues with my purchased content (iOS devices etc.)
I have AppleTV, I am currently in UK and I want to watch Netflix on my AppleTV - that's basically why I've bought it.
So the obvious question is - what now?
1. changing iTunes location is definetly going to end up in issues with my iOS devices (ie. some apps are strictly for Czech market - newspapers etc.)
2. creating second (UK) account for AppleTV only is just crazy (iCloud, podcasts etc.)
3. should I hack it (jailbreak)? Would it help?...
I have no more ideas how to make it work :-)

To the OP: Yes, there are methods for getting around the restrictions, but just as a note, don't be surprised if this doesn't last too long on the forums. I know that there's certain topics that while not strictly against the rules the forum hosts just prefer not to air on Apple's own site.
To renjister: There are many things that are legal if you are physically present in one country, but are not legal if you're in another. Although the Internet is virtual, the presence of the material is "physical" in that regard. This isn't new. I don't know about now but I remember in the early 1990s Apple software used to have different versions for different countries, I think because of encryption tools included in the packages. You would have been breaking the law copying a free (back then) OS disc and sending it to somebody in another country.

By far the easiest solution is to set it up on your computer with the foreknowledge that the recipient will need to Restore as now and put the photos back on. You've got the surprise factor and the post-surprise effort is minimal.

I don't think you want to be disabling the firewall on the router. Yes you are connected properly to your network. The first hurdle is the date and time, there might be different reasons behind some of the problems, but it seems something is blocking the Apple TV from connecting over the WAN correctly.
Do you have access to youtube and movie trailers.
Does your router allow access over port 123 (TCP)

It can only access one at a time. You can go into settings and input both of them in but you would need to switch between them.

Im currently living in Australia but have a German iTunes account and was wondering if I buy Apple tv from Australia would I be able to use my German iTunes account to rent and watch movies or will it be region locked? Would I have to create a new iTunes account registered to Australia?

Absolutely Yes. I do it. I have a US account along with my US registered credit card which I can use in the UK. And vice versa.
The key is your credit card and bank account need to be registered to the country of the iTunes account, not where you happen to be accessing the content from.

Verifying US iTunes payment acct in another country?

I'm a US service member in Qatar for the next few months. I purchased an iPad (4?) here at the base exchange a day ago.
While attempting to verify my iTunes payment info so I can download apps, it keeps telling me to contact support.
My billing address is in the US, and I'm obviously connected to Qatari Internet.
I'd hate to have just wasted $500...I'm an android lover who wanted to try apple...just my luck I guess :)
Is there a way to get my payment acct verified over here so I can download apps?
I can't get a Qatari credit card, and don't have a Qatari mailing address to create a new account...
Even when attempting to change my country to Qatar, I can't choose the "None" option for credit card...it requires one.

To make iTunes purchases, you must use the store for the country you are physically located in.
To make iTunes purchases, you must have an iTunes account for that country store.
To make an account for that country store,
- you must have an iTunes Gift Card specific to that country and and a mailing address in that country.
- Or you must have a credit card issued from a bank in that country and a billing address in that country.
Doesn't matter where you purchased the iPhone.

How do I move my iTunes Match subscription to another country

I subscribed to iTunes Match 2 years ago, when I lived in Australia, and have renewed it again recently. Part of this process was to match 25,000 music tracks which took weeks to complete. It also chewed through a huge amount of bandwidth.
I have now moved across the Tasman to New Zealand and have a new username and password for the NZ store. However, my iTunes Match tracks are only available under my old Australian iTunes account.
How can I move my iTunes Match subscription from Australia to New Zealand without having to upload/match all of my library again? Or have to pay another annual subscription?

App/itunes gift card from another country

For Christmas I was given an app/itunes gift card by a friend, the card was purchased in italy. Now I have just tried to enter the code and guess what? it tells me i cannot redeem it cos my store is Uk not Italy. If i try to change it to Italy it tells me I have to register with an italian bank account and address. How is this possible that i cant use an apple card on the apple store??? is there anyway to change this??? i have to say this is truly ridiculous...

OK you have 2 options lets say for example you live in the UK and the iTunes card is from the USA.
option 1) go to eBay and sell the card to someone in the USA.
option 2) use the itunes card.
if option 2 you will need to use the following steps
1) Move to the USA <------- This is just so you are following Apples rules ;-)
2) you will need a USA iTunes account, now that you live there so make a new Apple ID. To do this go to https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US and the 1st thing you are going to want to do is go to the bottom of the page and make sure that next to "Choose Your Country or Regin" you have the US flag (or what ever flag matches the place you just moved to to use the card) if it doesnt then click on it and change it. Put in all info to setup the account, (if for some reason you cant remember the address of the place you just moved into then use google maps). if you dont get an option to make an iCloud email address then you can make a Gmail account and use that as your new Apple ID.
3) you have now moved and made a new iTunes account you can now use your gift card. You will have access to the content in your new country and it will be at their prices.
4) if you want content from both accounts, I assume you already have content purchased from your old account then login to your iTunes/iPhone/iPad with 1 account and download what you own then logout and login with your second account.

How to redeem Itune Voucher bought in another Country

An aunt of my son [we are in UK] who lives Eire [Ireland] has bought him iTune voucher online for him. She'd put in my son's hotmail address during the purchase of the iTune voucher as a surprise gift.
My son tried to put in the validation code issued to his e-mail on his iTune account to purchase but it get declained as a message to the effecty that "code can only be used in purchased country as your iTune account does not match the country"
He'd tried by changing the iTune store to Ireland and attempted to redeem in his iTune acconut and it is not sucessful>
What shoud he do use this gift?
Should his Aunt in Ireland need to contact the Apple?

You cannot use it.
Gifts are country specific.
They cannot be used outside of the country of origin and without a valid account in that country.

Gifting a song to an account based in another country

I tried gifting a song to a friend in Australia. I got an error saying that the email was associated with an account in another country and I couldn't do it.

Closing One iTunes Account to Use Another, What Happens Next?

I recently setup a .Mac Account for my iWeb, and now want to use the same username for my iTunes, instead of a hotmail.com Apple ID (aID).
I contacted Apple and they said that I can't merge the two accounts.
In my Hotmail aID Account I still have come credit on the count, $24.00 approx.
Now here's a solution I thought.
If I GIFT a television show to myself at my new .Mac aID - it will use the credit in my account...
Now I have a couple of questions:
1) Who's account name will appear on the gifted television show? My new or old ID?
2) What happens to all the other content that I have purchased with my old account? Will I still be able to play these?
Can anyone see any problems in this solution.... its the only way I can think of getting around the merge... I want to stop my Hotmail aID and use my new .Mac aID.

I have a similar issue. I would like to change an existing Apple ID to a MobileMe address. However, since an Apple ID is automatically created when you sign up for MobileMe, I was not allowed to change my existing Apple ID to the new MobileMe e-mail address. It does not make since that this is not possible, especially since both are Apple products and MobileMe is a paid service. This is a hassle when making iTunes purchases as I will have to maintain login info and authorizations for both my old Apple ID and the new MobileMe created Apple ID. Is it possible to close an Apple ID account. If so, I could close the MobileMe created Apple ID and then change the e-mail address on the old Apple ID to the new MobileMe address. Sounds kinda confusing. If this is possible, how do you do it? Thanks in advance.

i called apple and they are sending me snow leopard so i should, *fingers crossed, be able to run the newer version of itunes. we'll find out for sure in a few days when it arrives
