Netflix on latest WD TV HD

I bought the latest WD TV HD Player and there is no Netflix App available. It would be great if the next Firmware would include Netflix. The product number is P/N WDBPUF0000NBK-00

Another vote for adding Netflix BACK onto the latest WDTV.
Why on Earth would you make us go buy yet another device, just to have netflix, when it was already supported, and can easliy run on this box???
Yes, there are already several other devices that run Netflix, but why not have the best of both worlds in one box? Like it used to be??
I just went to go buy one of these for my brother's and also my parents' house, telling them it was great, and it was 'one less remote' to have to worry about, as basically everything is in one place.. Hard drive movies, streamed movies, streamed TV shows, all on the same device, with the same TV 'source', and with the same remote... But on the way out the door yesterday, I thought I'd check what I was buying, and guess what?! The new '2014' WDTV Media Player has dropped Netflix..!?!? Why?? So, now it's back to just being a hard drive/usb player, and if we want this, we have to go buy yet another 2 devices, (on top of the 2 WDTV players), to watch nextflix, as well as another set of remotes/controls that I have to explain to my parents regularly?!?! No thanks!
They're both way more inclined than I am to go full streaming rather than HDD/USB, so guess what? They told me "not to bother with the WDTV at all if it can't do streaming with Netflix/Stan/etc, especially if it's 3 times the price of a Chromecast etc".
(Here in Australia, at time of writing, at Officeworks, a Chromecast is $45, and a WDTV Media Player is $139).
The WD website states this strangely as a 'feature'?!?! ...
"You don’t need another player for Netflix. You need a player for your personal stuff."
WTH?? No, we need a player for BOTH! So why not be the company that gives us BOTH in the same package?
Really disappointed, this is a terrible step backwards WD.

• Can't watch Netflix on latest version of Nightly, says I need Silverlight but nothing changes when I install it. Help?

I'm trying to use Netflix on the latest version of Firefox's Nightly browser. It tells me I need to install Silverlight, so I did, but it just gives the same Silverlight message. When I go to reinstall Silverlight, it says Silverlight is already installed. When I go to Silverlights page on Nightly (http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/get-started/install/default.aspx) it doesn't recognize that I have it installed. When I go there on Chrome, it tells me Silverlight 5 is successfully installed.
Any ideas? I really like Nightly and don't want to switch but it's annoying to open Chrome any time I want to watch Netflix.

I don't see Silverlight on your plugins list. Can you verify?
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
If it's still missing after several install attempts, make sure you haven't disabled plugin scanning. This preference is set as follows:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''scan''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If '''plugin.scan.plid.all''' is not set to true, double-click it to restore it to its default value of true.
You might need to exit and restart Firefox to trigger a fresh scan. Does that help?

• [NEWS] Verizon FiOS Skyrockets to #1 in Netflix ISP Streaming Rankings

Congrats FiOS. Maybe it was worth the wait, maybe it wasn't. But it, according to Netflix and it's subscribers, was well executed.

[NEWS] Verizon FiOS Skyrockets to #1 in Netflix ISP Streaming Rankings
Netflix's latest ISP streaming performance rankings continues to show specific and pointed improvements for companies that have struck interconnection deals with the company
Verizon FiOS jumped nine spots to top the index with a speed of 3.17 Megabits per second (Mbps.) The rapid rise, which began last month, followed an interconnection agreement with the company that uncongested ports for mutual customers. Similar arrangements with Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-Verse also resulted in increased speeds in September of 2.87 Mbps and 2.77 Mbps respectively.
The improvements were enough to propel Verizon FiOS to the top among the nation's largest ISPs at 3.17 Mbps per second. Among all ISPs, Verizon FiOS comes in seventh place behind Google Fiber (3.54 Mbps), Grande Communications (3.33 Mbps) and RCN (3.24). It's worth noting while jumping just one spot, Verizon DSL customers continue to see the slowest streaming performance of nearly all ISPs ranked, including other DSL providers.
Again, you can head here to see the ranking of all ISPs in the US or other countries where Netflix streaming is available.

For what it's worth, I've been getting remarkable good Netflix feeds for the last few months. Before that, Netflix was often at a low resolution and subject to frequent buffering if not outright loss of data.
In short, I've seen a big improvement that makes watching Netflix on FiOS enjoyable!
Enjoy.

Anyone having trouble with Netflix not showing up on the Internet Menu? I have tried to do a reset and then restore, but it says that "the latest update download cannot be done at this time, try again later"

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

• Netflix will not play on my Mac anymore after latest update...HELP!!

After latest update, Netflix will no longer play. When I select a movie, it prompts me to install Microsoft Silverlight, which I have repeatedly done. Netflix claims the latest MAC update is to blame, not a Netflix issue....PLEASE, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server. Any difference? If not...
2. Clear Firefox's Cache Completely
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
3. If needed, remove the site's cookies in this dialog
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

• Silverlight (Netflix) not working after latest Firefox update

After the latest Firefox update (34.0.5), I can't get Silverlight to work on Netflix. I get a black screen with no error codes.
Netflix has a checklist of things to do if you get a black screen (https://help.netflix.com/en/node/95), and I've done all of these things several times -- manually removing Netflix cookies, uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight (and I used a Fix-It app on the Microsoft website to troubleshoot), disabling ad blockers and virus software, and scanning for malware. I've done all of these things, and nothing has helped. I can play Netflix videos in Chrome, but I think there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to use my preferred browser, especially since I was able to do it without incident up until Wednesday night.
I had two chats with Netflix tech support. Neither were much help, but the second person suggested that I uninstall Firefox entirely and then reinstall. I don't really want to do that. I'm not really that tech-y, and I'm afraid of losing my settings. Honestly, I would cancel Netflix before doing that.
Has anybody else had this problem? Are there any OTHER workarounds or suggestions of what I can try to fix this problem? Also, is it possible to be prompted when there's a new Firefox update.. and not have it automatically updated without my permission? I can't, by any chance, roll back to the version when everything worked fine?

So, it sounds like there's a compatibility problem. I didn't realize that Firefox accesses Silverlight in a whole different way. Do you think Firefox needs to be updated/patched to be able to work with the Silverlight plugin again, or does the plugin need to be updated to be compatible with the latest version of Firefox?

First of all, I´m not a IT guy...just a fan of "firefox".
Regarding your question, since this issue started with the 34.0.5
version of "firefox" it´s my opinion that it´s "firefox" the one that
should be updated/patched to work again with "netflix".
to fix such issue.

• HT202157 After the latest update I no longer get Netflix

After the latest apple tv update I no longer amable to open Netflix. Any ideas? Already tried reboot

I had already attempted that. After a day with no changes I finally reset the apple tv to factory settings. I of course had to reload all my personal settings, IDs password etc. Netflix works again. Must be an issue apple has with the latest upgrade that added History channnel, A & E along with a few others.

• Why wil lfirefox not allow netflix to run on latest version of silverlight

Looks like fire fox wants older version 5.? vs new 6. of silverlight
Netflix works if I watch on msn
recent problem -last 4 days
firefox/netflix.com/watch instantly/get a window asking me to up date silverlite to latest version/already have installed/works on msn,but not google

Could you clear up something about your question: you posted using a Windows machine, but your question is in the Firefox OS category for the new Firefox OS-based mobile phones. I think probably your question is about desktop Firefox.
Does Silverlight 6 work on other sites, just not Netflix, or does it not work in Firefox at all?

• HT202157 Since installing latest apple tv update unable to access netflix

Since installing the latest Apple tv update I am unable to access Netflix. Message appears that Netflix is not available at present, please try again later

Hi all, an update: while sending the Apple TV to sleep and waking it did nothing to fix the problem, sending to sleep and then forcing it to restart by disconnecting and reconnecting the power did the trick. When it restarted, it advised me of the new features in the (already installed) update, somethign it did not do when it restarted after the update. It then automatically found and joined my wi-fi network.
So, if you have the same trouble after the update finishes, try powering the Apple TV off and back on.

• After the latest firefox upgrade and the Adobe Flash Player upgrade, Silverlight, which runs Netflix Instant, is not working... any connection? Thanks!

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110303 Firefox/3.6.15 GTB7.1
That is my system info ~ my firewall is open and I have no anti-virus software installed.
On Netfilx, when I click Play on an Instant movie, a screen comes up that tells me there is an upgrade for Silverlight. Click the button, go thru what looks like a full install series of windows, go back to click Play, and the same screen comes up. It has happened for the last 48 hours or so, consistently. I opened Chrome and Safari, had the same result.
A Ustream site I follow, also using a Mac, has been getting kicked off that system all day, getting an error message that references Adobe Flash Player ~ he just upgraded, like I did, and wonders if there is a problem with it ~ got me thinking...
Thank You Firefox community!
GlenJudith

From what I can tell, the problem is not Silverlight, it is the flash plugin (10.3). I uninstalled and went back to FLASH 10.1 and Netflix, flash videos, flash based applications, etc all worked again on my brand new computer. Very unfortunate and frustrating.

• After the latest update by apple Netflix and gmail will not update just says waiting

I cannot update Netflix and gmail it has beeb saying waiting for two days

Hello there, mayoung22.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for troubleshooting the issue you are describing:
Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If you see a solid color screen (black, white or blue)
Plug in your device to a power source. If you see the low-battery screen when you plug in, let your device charge for at least 10 minutes (20 minutes for iPad) before using it.
Reset your device while it's plugged in.
If resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,
Pedro.
