Netflix Problem iPad

Hey there,
my Netflix App has not been working on my iPad for 2-3 months now. No matter what movie/show I want to watch I always get the message "Cannot play movie. Please try again later". I can watch Netflix on my iPhone and MacBook without any problems.
Here's what I've tried so far:
- delete and reinstall the Netflix app
- reboot my iPad
- restore my iPad
- iPad runs the latest iOS update and Netflix update
I also called Netflix support service. They told me there's nothing they can do to help me and there's probably something wrong with the iPad/iOS. Again: it works perfectly fine on my iPhone.
Has anyone had the same problem? It's quite annoying
PS: My iPad also won't play videos in Safari. It used to work without any problems, but suddenly stopped also 2-3 months ago. I just get a crossed play-button (on the exact same websites as before).

So I have now downloaded the latest Netflix app update and it has not fixed the problem at all. It still says "Cannot play video, connected display is not supported." I downloaded the NBC app and that says "Airplay is not supported." I have not problem playing videos straight from the Safari app or Youtube. Can anyone out there tell me what is wrong. This is super frustrating. It isn't clear to me if this is a Netflix problem or Apple problem since people at either place point to the other company when I talk to them on the phone. It ***** when updates create problems where none existed before.
Anyone else running into this?
Anyone found a fix?

  • Best way to watch Netflix? Ipad 3 or direct connect to Panny ready blu-ray?

    I am researching the best way to stream Netflix?  Here is what I have;
    Brand new iPad 3
Pioneer VSX-1120 which has both HDMI inputs and a iPad USB/rca input.
Panasonic DMP-BDT1-- Blu-Ray with Netflix ready, (has ability to connect to Internet via Ethernet or wirless adapter)
Panasonic TC-P58VT25 full 3d HDTV with HDMI and Ethernet inputs.
    Westell 7500 wireless router
    What are your suggestions?
Download Netflix on iPad and connect to Pioneer receiver  This would stream wireless from the router to iPad  Then wired from iPad to receiver???
Just connect the Blu-Ray player or TV to the Router with Ethernet?  No wireless involved.
    Help...???

I would go Ethernet (assuming it is not a problem running the cable), and allow your Blu-Ray player do the work.  That way your WiFi bandwidth for in hone computer-to-computer Data transfers is not affected, and any such in home transfers do not affect your Netflix viewing.  Also if you have any WiFi interference it will not affect your Netflix viewing.
This would leave your iPad free to play with during the movie :-)
I would use the iPad to browse and select Netflix movies putting them in your "Instant Queue", so you can easily start watching form the Blu-Ray player.  Chances are the Blu-Ray player's user interface is not very user friendly :-)
You can still download Netflix to your iPad, and watch movies directly on your iPad when you do not want to sit in front of your TV (such as when you are away from home, or someone else is using the TV).
This is more or less the setup I use, only I have an internet capable TV with Netflex built in. I had the option of Ethernet or WiFi, and went Ethernet, for all the reasons above, especally since browsing Netflix via the TV interface is a pain, but selecting a movie already in my Netflix Instant Queue was easy. And I still watch a movie on my iOS device, if that is more convent.
If the Blu-Ray Netflx experence is not as good as using the iPad, or if there is extra expensive equipment to buy, or getting Ethernet to the TV location is a problem, them adjust your setup accordingly.

  • Trying to stream netflix from iPad to tv...not working...have av and hdmi hooked up...?????

trying to stream netflix from iPad to tv, but not working...settings in iPad, or something?

Sorry, totally missed that. Can you give some information about what is happening when you plug your iPad to the TV?
For example, does normal mirroring work (i.e., do you see your iPad home screen on the TV when you plug it)? Does any application other than netflix (be it a game or another streaming application) work? Do you get an error? Does it just show a white/black/blank screen on your iPad and TV?

WLAN over a router. Suddenly no connection was possible, both with ipad 3
and before fine working ipad mini ( 6.0.2) The router was the same .
In the system preferences WLAN connect to my ipads correctly .
But the program with exactly the same preferences as the day before can`t connect
to the client on my telescope .
    Any ideas
IP Telecop 192.168.2.101 - Router 192.168.2.1- Ipad 192.168.2.100 DNS no Dlink Port 4030
    Connection to Ipad : yes
Connection to the program on ipad : no
Day before nothing was wrong .
    Best regards

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • I cant watch netflix on ipad, it wont let me download update because ipad doesnt have ios 4

When i click on the netflix app, it says to update to the latest version of the app. So when i try to download the update to the app, it tells me i cant download the app because my original ipad does not have ios 4.  So now i cant watch netflix on my ipad at all?? Please help.

Hmmmm, what to do.  I know.......update your software on your iPad .  If you have iOS 3.x a lot has changed, and you need to connect your iPad to your computer and install the latest OS via iTunes.  You're missing the cloud and a lot of great new features.  A lot of upgrades have come and gone since you last updated.  The current version is 5.1.1

  • Any Help For Yet Another HDCP For Playback/Netflix Problem?

I have a very complex set-up and had no problem streaming until the other night and I have tried every single solution I can find online under the sun so that is why I am posting here.
I have a Pioneer Receiver that I used a Terk Smart HDMI 3 x 1 Selector with and was able to stream Netflix with no problem.
This is how everything used to be set up:
    Pioneer Receiver
    Blu-ray IN
    HDMI OUT Terk
    DVD IN
    Panasonic DVD Recorder OUT
    OUT
    Panasonic LCD TV HDMI 1
    Terk HDMI 3 x 1 Selector
    OUT
    Pioneer Receiver Bluray IN
    Panasonic Bluray Player
    Input 1
    AppleTV (3rd Gen.)
    Input 2
    Mac Mini (2010)
    Input 3
Now here's the rub:  I also have a PS3.  I used to unplug either the ATV or Mini whenever I wanted to use it and I got tired of switching out so I bought a Monoprice 8 x 1 HDMI Selector.  The logic here being that I would have more than enough HDMI inputs to plug in everything.
When I first hooked up the Monoprice, I hooked the OUT from it into the Bluray IN on the Pioneer and then hooked all of the HDMI cables from all of the various electronics into the INputs on it.  Tested all of them to see that it autoselected whatever I had chosen and even was able to stream on NF.
This is how I have everything hooked up now:
    Monoprice 8 x 1
    OUT
    Pioneer Receiver Bluray IN
    ATV
    Input 1
    Panasonic Bluray Player
    Input 2
    PS3
    Input 3
    Mac Mini
    Input 4
    Panasonic DVD Recorder*
    Input 5
*Bluray IN  and OUT are the only HDMI slots in use on the Pioneer Receiver using this hookup.
Now all of a sudden yesterday I went to stream NF via the ATV and I got that "This content requires HDCP for playback" error.
I did everything I could think of and also tried all of the suggestions I could find on the web.  I had already switched out the HDMI cables as I had bought new ones when I got the Monoprice.  So I hooked the Terk back up thinking it would "fix" things.  No dice.  I put the old HDMI cables back on.  No dice.  I have it hooked up now with the old HDMI cables and still no dice.  I unplugged everything and let it sit thinking I could force a new HDMI handshake.  NF started streaming for 5 seconds and froze -- and then the error message.
I also have a Scientific Atlanta DVR that the ATV is plugged into that the HDMI 2 of the Panasonic TV is connected via HDMI.  The Panasonic TV isn't "old" as I think I got it in late 2009 or late 2010, as it has more than enough HDMI inputs, component, and also a PC connection -- in case someone wanted to suggest the TV wasn't capable of handling the hookups. The ATV is running the latest version of the software.
This is really frustrating since it worked with no problem from the day I got the ATV and now after upgrading the switcher to get more HDMI inputs, everything went kaput.
And I just don't know what to do.
I'm not sure if having everything being dependent upon the Panasonic TV being powered on is affecting things, but it never affected things when I was using the 3 x 1 HDMI switch.  When I wanted to use the ATV, I'd press the Bluray input on the Pioneer receiver, hit the ATV remote and it would come on.  Click into NF and voila: streaming with no problems.
Currently, I still do the same thing -- and I can listen to the radio, stream in iTunes Match on the ATV.  It's just the NF issue that's really beyond me.  The only thing I can think of to try is to maybe put the DVR in the surge protector slot so that it has to be powered on so that everything else will power up instead of the TV?
I'm hoping someone has a suggestion that involves something other than restarting/restoring the ATV, or unplugging things for 30 seconds because I have tried everything I've come across.  I just don't know what to do but I really would like to be able to use NF on the ATV because I like the fact that it plays in Dolby, and I really don't want to have to go back to the PS3 to utilize that feature.
In the meantime, I guess I will switch the DVR on the surge protector with the TV and see what happens if I change the way things power up in the chain.

I am at a loss.  I thought I had a micro USB cord but since I didn't, I wasn't able to downgrade the software.
I did a complete restore for kicks.
    This is the current setup
    ATV HDMI
    Panasonic TV HMDI 2
    ATV optical output
    Pioneer Receiver
Again, all of the other devices run through the 8 x 1 switch box which is NOT powered on to use the ATV.
I get the HDCP error whenever I try to access the following:
    Netflix
    Trailers
    Vimeo
    WSJ Live
HHL and the other sports channels
    These work fine:
    Radio
    iTunes Match
    Podcasts
    Flickr
TV Shows and Movies because I tested both watching previews and they streamed perfectly
I've changed the settings on the ATV until I'm blue in the face and this is what they are currently:
    Dolby - Auto
    Audio Output - Auto
    HDMI Output - Auto
TV Resolution - 1080p HD - 60Hz -- and yes I've had it set on both "Auto" and 720p HD - 60Hz and neither stopped the error once it started happening
All of the equipment is HDCP compliant as I checked
The cable between the TV and ATV
    The 8 x 1 switch box
Panasonic TV specs -- it is HDCP compliant as I said in my 3rd post (according to the manual)
The Pioneer Receiver (for good measure)
I have no idea of what to do other than to hope that Apple does something with the next update to restore everything, as this HDCP issue is really beyond annoying and it's clear 5.2 broke something.  In the meantime, I really am open to suggestions to try something else other than smashing the ATV with a hammer

  • HT1365 Apple TV and  Netflix problem

My apple TV works well with all the apps on it except with Netflix. Lately it will quit and state " Your Apple TV isn't connected to the Internet " to check your network setting go to   etc etc . I do that and go to for instance Utube and there is NO problem and switch back to Netflix, it runs for a while and then get the same message !! I have tried ALL of netflix and apple's suggestions but to no avail !! HELP !!

I don't think this has anything to do with wireless. You should post in the AppleTV area.
There does seem to be a bug or 6.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24065052#24065052
If you are posting here because you think it is a wireless router issue..
I strongly suggest you run an ethernet cable to your AppleTV and use that for a test.
Wireless for streaming is always a bad idea when you live in an area where wireless is grossly overused.

  • WiFi problem ipad Mini & iphone

Since updating to iOS 7.0.3 (and then to 7.0.4), my ipad mini often has not been able to access wifi.  While the wifi icon is still showing a strong connection, the network activity icon just goes around in circles.  Sometimes there's a message that it cannot connect to the server.  This also happens to my iphone 4, less frequently and not at the same time.
When I power off and restart the device, sometimes wifi works properly again, sometimes not - but it always shows the wifi icon as working.  i have tried different things like closing all open apps.
There is no problem with my network or my wifi connection.  Both of these devices worked flawlessly until iOS 7.0.3.  Anyone else having the same problem?

Nope, no WiFi problems with either iOS 7.0.3 or 7.0.4 on an iPhone 5, an iPad 3 and an iPad 4.

  • Netflix on iPad G1

I rencently found out that i can get netflix on my iPad G1, but when i go to the app store and try to download it, it tells me that i need to update to the latest verison of ISO 6, but apparently i cant get 6 or 7 on the first ipad. Is there anything I can do to get around this?

Yes, Netflix has been streaming to iPad for more than two years now. You're a bit late to the party and I think in this case, the party has already ended for your iPad G1.
The first generation iPad can be updated only to iOS version 5.1.1, which you are running according to your profile. According to Netflix, the app does indeed require iOS 6 or later. Although Apple now allows developers to provide earlier versions of apps to it's customers, the developers themselves decide whether or not to do so. That decision is based on a number of factors including technical considerations, user experience and customer support.
Unfortunately, unless you can convince Netflix to re-release an iOS 5 compatible version, I think you are out of luck.
