Netflix says it requires javascript which I can't enable

There is no red plugin symbol to allow me to enable for the site alone and when I try to enable on the add-ons drop down menu I am only given the options to 'always ask' or 'never enable'. I receive this message on Netflix every time I attempt to play a video "The Netflix video player requires Javascript. Please enable that feature in your browser settings and reload this page."

Thank you. I am moderately tech illiterate. Now Netflix tells me silverlight is not installed, I attempt to reinstall and I am told I already have it. Can this be fixed in a similar way (enabling true)?

Javascrypt is enabled. Netflix says it is not enabled. What do I do now?

I'm attempting to download a movie from Netflix. Netflix says "The Netflix Movie Player requires Javascript. Please enable that feature in your browser settings and reload this page." I went to <Tools><Options><Content> and found a check mark next to "Enable Javascrypt." Under "Advanced," I checked all five boxes, and I still get the same messsage from Netflix.

Does the Netflix movie player work in Firefox now? Previously it used a kind of DRM that only worked with the ActiveX version of Windows Media Player used in IE.
I assume you are not using the NoScript extension, a tool to manage scripts on a site-by-site basis. If you are, check the NoScript pop-up for domains that Netflix uses other than its main domain.
I no longer have a Netflix account, but hopefully another user can work on this with you to diagnose the problem.

The hardware requirements for Lion are an intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB RAM.
I wouldn't even both trying with 1GB, and even with 2GB Lion may struggle. If you intend to upgrade to Lion, can I suggest you max out your RAM. RAM is cheap at the moment.

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?

Your iTunes account sounds like it does not have a credit card or payment attached to it. Even free apps require that you have entered payment information even though you won't be charged for the app.

Update v10.5.5 to v10.5.8
Download and install the combo > Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
Then restart your Mac.
That should update Safari for you to 5.0.6 and that should help with iTunes.
If necessary, after updating to v10.5.8, you can use the standalone Safari installer here > Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard

Marcello, I am having the same problem. When following the advice of many in the community to start iTunes in 32-bit mode, I get the following error after I have done so:
I am running 10.9.2 on a mac mini.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

When I close Firefox and then try to open it, it says it is already running and I have to close it which I can't do. The only way to open it is to first restart my computer which is a pain. If I can't fix this I will use an other brouser!

I am not sure what more I can tell you. I close firefox. So when I click on the icon it should allow me to open it again but I get a message that says it is already running. Either close it out which I can't do since I already did that or restart the computer.

Try holding control, alt and delete down in succession and then a dialogue box will appear with windows task manager. Once open click on the Processes Tab and look for firefox.exe. Highlight this and then click end process. It should come up with a warning but just click Yes. This should then close firefox and allow you to reopen it from your desktop without shutting down your computer. Hope this helps.
