Netflix won't open on Apple TV

I just got my first Apple TV today. I updated it to the latest software. I also setup parental controls.
Everything is working except Netflix. I select Netflix, enter my four digit pin, it's accepted, and the screen flashed back to the home screen.
It's as if Netflix doesn't even try to open. There is no error message and there is no message indicating Netflix is loading and then crashing.
I tried removing the power cable and rebooting the device but I still have the same issue.
Any ideas?

You might have to turn off parental controls and turn it back on after you have finished ,

  • HELP: iTunes crashes (won't open), and Apple website crashes Explorer too

I've had an iPod for years, and have 16G + of music in my library on my old desktop computer. That computer is EXTREMELY slow, however.
I got an iPhone last week. So since I want more ease of music access, I thought I'd install iTunes on my laptop (which is so much faster), and move my music from my old desktop.
Last weekend, I only got around to installing iTunes on my laptop, and authorizing that computer so I could download some apps.
This weekend, I tried to open iTunes on my old desktop computer again, so I could start the process of moving my music library to the laptop. I was surprised to discover that iTunes won't even open anymore, at all. I just get the standard error message, "iTunes 8.0 experienced a problem and had to close." Believe me, I've restarted the computer several times, and it still won't open. I've run Norton, and there are no viruses identified either.
So, I thought I should go to the Apple website and download the program again. Not possible! Anytime I even try to go to www.apple.com or www.apple.ca or www.itunes.com/downloads, my Explorer browser window crashes. In fact, it crashes any and ALL open browser windows, not just the one that I typed an apple URL into.
I'm fortunate that can use my laptop to access this apple forum, or I'd really be at a loss.
Is this happening because I authorized my laptop? It seems more like an evil Apple-hating Microsoft virus somehow...
What can I possibly do to get my iTunes library (all 16 gigs of it) to my laptop, WITH all my carefully organized playlists, etc?

Sounds a lot like a virus I had on my desktop..it finally forced me to wipe everything and go with the laptop.
However you could try to download Firefox, or another browser, and then try to log onto Apple. Maybe its completely an Explorer issue? Cant hurt to try at least. Firefox is quick and free to download.
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
And no, I am not one of those "Firefox is the answer to everything" people...you could try the new Google Chrome browser as well.
    http://www.google.com/chrome
Good luck..I know how frustrating this is. I hope something works.

  • System Prefs won't open from Apple Menu

    Ay, ay, ay.
    Gigabit G4, Tiger
I couldn't get rid of the blue label on Applications/System Preferences so I created an "archive" of it, tossed the original in the trash and opened the archive. The renewed Sys Prefs gave me permission to change the label, but now it won't open from the apple menu. I guess its an alias there. Where would it be? How to fix it?
    Casey

    Hi,
In some cases "newer" version of an App will not run on Older OS software.
For instance Leopard's iChat 4 will not run in Tiger.
You say a clean install and do not say if you moved your Home Folder Contents back.
Your Mail would have been in there as would the Address Book info.
However related to the first item, you may have issues getting the older Tiger apps to read documents/Databases created by the newer Apps in Leopard.

  • EPUB file won't open in Apple iBooks

    Hi all!
I'm creating ebooks for a client using InDesign CC and she reports that the most recent EPUB I've created for her won't open in iBooks. As I don't own a smartphone or tablet I can't error-test on my end, but if you can think of anything that would lead to this error please let me know! I can't think of anything I've done differently in creating the EPUB, so maybe it's an issue with a recent CC or iBooks update? Has anyone else had this problem recently? The other ebooks I've made for her open fine.
Her report on what happened: "when I go to my downloads folder and double click the file -- it opens the book shelf in ibooks and shows that the file is there but it has no cover. When i double click the book the program doesnt do anything. it doesnt open."

In your last post here, you also had the same problem with the cover, which I think was due to the CMYK mode settings. Now I have no idea if iBooks doesn't display cover images that are CMYK, but usually images should be RGB (or Grayscale) in EPUB in order for them to display in ADE and Nook.
Are there any other problems in the EPUB, i.e. other than the cover?

  • Netflix won't open

I have tried to open Netflix on Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari and I get the same result which is nothing! Recently, about a month ago, I put American Netflix on my laptop by changing my DNS numbers. It works when I am at home or at a friends etc but when I'm at work it won't.
    This is what it says:
    The connection has time out
The server at signup.netflix.com is taking too long to respond.
    1. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a fw moments.
    2. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
    3. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure tht Firefox is permitted to access the web.
It can't be #1 because I've tried logging on numerous times during the past couple days.
#2 my network is decently strong. I can get onto youtube, facebook and other tv show websites.
#3 my computer is not protected by a firewall.. what about a proxy?
Can anyone give me step by step instructions? I've tried updated chrome, firefox and safari, as well as my macbook pro. Nothing seems to be working.

It works when I am at home or at a friends etc but when I'm at work it won't.
Netflix is blocked on your work network.

  • Netflix won't work on Apple TV anymore

Hi there - bought my Apple TV a few months ago and signed up for Netflix over 30 days ago. Everything worked fine.
Now everytime I try to start Netflix I receive an error message "We're unable to connect you to Netflix. Please try again later (ATV-ui113)
    Any idea?

I also have the same issue and I have done all that restarting, resetting, unplugging everything. In my case none of that stuff works. I have the latest software. It is connected wired to ethernet port from the router because I gave up trying to make it work with Wi-Fi. There is no connection problem! Everything connects just fine. Even when I connect to the Wi-Fi network. It simply won't stream Netflix. I get sound but the picture either goes black or freezes. Apple!! Make the **** thing work with something other than iTunes Store and don't make us buy your overpriced router (Airport Express or Extreme). I'm betting I can go out and buy a Rocu right now and it would work just fine.

  • Netflix won't open in safari on mac desktop

can anyone tell me how to get netflix to work on my desktop mac through safari.

Classic operating systems don't support Safari.
Safari on pre-2006 Macs, known as PowerPC (or PowerMac) Macs don't support the version of Silverlight necessary to run Netflix.
Without knowing which operating system or Mac model you are using, it is impossible for anyone here to help.
Identify your Mac using this post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6413
Then pick the correct forum in this post: http://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2463
After going to Apple menu -> About This Mac to find your operating system.

  • Calendars won't open after apple added them ack

When i try to open "calendars" a popup window & spinning beach ball starts-popup says iphoto not responding. all i can do is force quit iphoto.
Anyone have an idea as to why and how to fix ?
    thanks
    Dickster-------

Backup the library and try the fix below:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in the User/Library/Application Support/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Netflix won't work on Apple TV

Netflix had been working fine from Apple TV for months.  Now, I get a message that it is currently unavailable, try again later.  At the same time, I can access Netflix from Mac, iPad, etc and everything works fine.  Just not from the Apple TV.  Can anyone help with this?

You have posted this in the Older iPods forum, when you should have posted it in the Apple TV Forums.

  • After the update netflix won't open

after I installed the new update, the netflix app won't open

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
    Delete and reinstall the app

  • When I try to open iTunes, Error 2 appears saying that iTunes won't open b/c "Apple Application Support was not found". What do I do???

When I try to open iTunes, Error 2 appears saying that itunes won't open because "Apple Application Support was not found". What do I do???

If your problem is only w/iTunes, you really should re-post over in the iTunes for Windows forums instead of the iPod forums.

  • Netflix won't accept my ID and password?

I have just added the Apple TV to my TV.  When I tried to sign in to Netflix using the ID and password that I use on my entire collection of devises, iPhone, iPad, iBook, iMac 27", iMac 20" will all connect to Netflix, but Netflix won't accept my  Apple TV.  No error codes, just won't recognise the same ID & PW!!
    This really ticls me off!!

After 2 calls to NetFlix with no solutios and 1 call to Apple with a solution which fixed the login and password with Netflix completely.  Apple very carefully guided me through resetting the WiFi channels to correct potential interference with other neigborhood WiFis.
This fix is very specific to ones neigborhood.  The thing I learned that most should know about is the power of the System Information under About This Mac.  Once in the System Information, go down the list to Wi-Fi and click it.  It may take a few seconds, but your Mac see all your neigboring Wi-Fis, even the very weak signals and reports the Signal / Noise (S/N) of each. I was flabergased by this encreadible list of 14 WiFis close by.
Apple had me read the Channel of these and the S/N and then had me change the channel of my 2 WiFi Networks on my Airport Extreme. This worked!

  • TS3274 I downloaded netflix and it's not showing up and if I go into App Store it says it's downloaded but it won't open. Can anyone help me?

I downloaded Netflix from the App Store and it won't show up on my iPad and when I go into the store it says downloaded and open but it won't open. I tried deleting it and reinstalling it but I can't figure out how to uninstall it either. Please help

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - Try when connected to another network
    - Update via iTunes on a computer.

  • IPad Netflix app won't open, error screen pops up. Help please

I have an iPad 3G 1st gen, and the Netflix app was working fine up until earlier today. I'm hearing about all these other people who are getting error
messages saying Netflix cannot open the movie and to check the website. My Netflix won't even let me open it anymore. It sits on the Netflix screen for a
while and then turns into a grey screen and an error message says "check network connectivity and make sure date/time settings are correct". My network
connection is fine, my safari and other internet apps work fine. My date and time is correct. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it, I have power cycled my
iPad, I have plugged it into my computer and iTunes, I have updated the Netflix app. None of these things have worked, it still will not open and it still gives
me that error message. Like I said, it was working fine earlier today and just wouldn't open when I came back to finish my movie. Has this happened to
anyone else? Help would be much appreciated.

  • Programs keep not responding, computer freezes often, apple mail won't open

Starting yesterday my computer has been running very slowly. it takes almost 15 minutes to start up and then programs won't open or will quit unexpectedly or not respond. Not to mention that my computer freezes every 30 seconds or so. I have 4gb of crucial ram that system diagnostics say is ok. i don't know what is wrong.

Have you tried opening Mail from the Applications folder. The Dock alias may be corrupt.
    Try a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
