Netgear Genie on Mac to enable AirPrint printing from iPad3

I have installed the latest version of Netgear Genie on my Mac and am able to print to my wired network printer but only from the Photos application.
Printing from email or any of the iworks applications doesn't work.  The job is sent without errors on the iPad but nothing prints.
So at this point I can only print photos.
Is there any reason why this shouldn't work with other document types?
Thanks in advance for your help.

That is probably best answered by Netgear. According to this AirPrint 101 page:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
"You also need an AirPrint-enabled printer listed in this article. Printers not listed in this article are not supported by AirPrint."

  • This is a hint to anyone who cannot find their airprint printer from their ipad:  after 10 hours of trying everything imaginable, i can now print directly from my iPad by turning off the bluetooth in settings and waiting for 30 seconds.  presto!

after spending a full day and a half trying everything imaginable, i finally found a way to get my ipad to find my new airprint capable  printer.  I could print from email or the cloud, but not directly from my ipad.  After reading a discussion about bluetooth printers, i turned off bluetooth in settings, waited 30 seconds, and voila!!  I was able to print directly from my ipad.  Try it if you are having troubles

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Mac Air won't print from Photosmart Plus B209a

I can't print documents on the B209a from my MacBook Air, either wirelessly or connecting with the USB. When I send something to print, it goes to the queue but disappears quickly. The printer never prints the document I am able to print wirelessly from my Windows computer (Lenovo) without a problem. I am also able to print a test page from the MacBook Air. I can also print from my iPad using the HP ePrint app on the printer.
I have reinstalled the drivers on the MacBook Air several times. I have reset all the printers and reinstalled them. I have also reinstalled the HP software that came with the printer. I have shut down the Mac after each time.
    Please help.

    Welcome to the forums @Youlong
I understand you're having some issues with printing from your Mac, running Yosemite however, you are able to print successfully from your Windows PC and iPad. This seems to sound like a software issue somewhere on the Mac, and I have a few steps in mind for you to try.
    In order, try:
    Reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Follow this guide: Installing a Mac Printer Driver Using Apple Software Update
In addition, download this Apple driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
    Try printing again afterwards!
    Good luck

  • Print from ipad3 to hp air printer?

I am struggling to print from my ipad3 to my new hp air printer (5520) despite being connected wirelessly from my ipad and my printer is connected and prints from my pc. Any ideas how I can print from my ipad? Thank you.

    Good news and bad news:
With this as one option for my printer
    ColorModel/Color Model: *RGB RGBW
    This command
    lpoptions -d HP_Deskjet_F4200_series -o ColorModel=RGBW
does change the lpotion output to
    ColorModel/Color Model: RGB *RGBW
Notice the asterisk switched from RGB to RGBW
The bad news is if the option as reported by lpoption only has one setting it can;t be changed (at least I wasn;t able to). So in my case the  paperfeed is
    HPPaperSource/Source: *Tray1
and no matter what I tried I could not switch it to anything else.
So even if this is the source of your printers behavior there may not be anything you can do about it, at least from this point.
It is odd that the printer would only have a manual feed option as reported by CUPS. The printer does work normally from the GUI, correct? And there are no switches/settings on the printer for this?
Something else to try, as a test, is to connect the printer directly to the system and see if anything changes. I know with my printer hooked up through the Airport I cannot get to the ink levels and such or run any maintenance commands. I have to directly connect it to do that.
    Sorry I don;t have more,
    regards

  • Mac: no PDFMaker, so printing from Word to PDF has inactive links

I have written a fabulous document in Microsoft Word, which has paragraph numbering, and many ‘Insert > Cross-reference…’ links to paragraphs. And it contains lots of ‘Insert > Hyperlink…’ links to external documents. It’s fabulous.
If I saved this to PDF using a Windows machine, those links would work in the PDF. Clicking on a cross-reference would jump there; clicking on an external link would command the default browser to do the obvious thing. Hurray!
But on the Mac, the external links aren’t there. Not if I do “Save as PDF…”, nor if I do it via Adobe Acrobat XI with “Save as Adobe PDF”.
If the link text is there “http://…” then the PDF reader guesses it is a link, and it works. But if ordinary words have been made into a link, it is formatted as a link but is inactive.
Please, how can Adobe be persuaded to release PDFMaker for the Mac? Or otherwise make this work? (Adobe Acrobat XI: Help and tutorials (September 2013), on page 46: “PDFMaker is not available for Mac OS. However, you can still create PDFs from many business applications using the File > Print command. In the Print dialog box, choose Save AsAdobe PDF from the PDF menu.”)
FYI, I also asked this question on the Microsoft side, but other than discovering that PDFMaker would solve my problem if it existed for the Mac, that didn’t help.
    Versions:
    Mac: OS X Mavericks 10.9.5
Word: Word for Mac 2011 Version 14.4.3 (140616)
    Adobe Acrobat XI: 11.0.09

Actually PDF Maker has never been available on the MAC as I understand it. At Buying guide | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro it is indicated that PDF Maker is available on on Windows (has a little dagger that indicates this and is probably hard to catch). I can understand that it may be related to the way that OFFICE is written for the MAC. One of the members drops by to help folks with MAC issues like this at times. He apparently has some work-arounds. If the MS PDF plugin will create the links on the MAC, then an alternative is to print the document to an temp file and create the base file with the plugin, then use replace pages to get the printed version included, or just live with the MS produced version. I don't remember if the MS plugin creates the bookmarks and such.

  • Printing to my mac nad trying to print from vista

    09-22-2010 06:49 PM
    hi can some help me.
i have recently bought an intel mac and i have connected my HP C4180 this works ok.
i have also a laptop running windows vista
What i am having problems with is getting the laptop to print via the mac. the network is on a belkin router . i have managed to get a printer queue on the laptop but it comes up with error

This is not impossible but very difficult, involved and becomes unreliable with each system's update.
Are you very knowledgeable with the two operating systems, networking and device sharing?  If not, just buy another printer and save yourself a lot of grief.
An even better idea is to get a $100 wireless printer, connect it wirelessly to your router and have both computers use it (including scanning function - sharing a printer like you are trying to do will only share the print function).
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • How to enable "remote printing" from a .rdp shortcut on OSX

    Hi,
I cannot get my .rdp file to open with "forward printing devices" working on OSX (works fine on Windows).
When I create an entry in RDP Client and check "forward printing devices", it works fine, but if I then export the configuration to a test.rdp file and run it, then the forward printing does not work.
If I then import the test.rdp I just exported and open the session params, "forward printing devices" is not checked anymore.
What is the param(s) that I should set in my test.rdp to forward the printers (same as checking the "forward printing devices" in the ui)?
I have already tried the following:
    redirectprinters:i:1
but it does not seem to work
    Thank you,

    Hi,
It seems that the parameters we set in the .rdp file do not work for the app of Mac. You may have to configure this via UI.
I will forward this issue to the product team.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • First gen. Mac Mini - won't boot from DVD/CD, or into any safe modes

    Hi All!
Last Sunday my Mini seemed to start hanging up, then all of a sudden it was spinning beach ball time. Everything pointed to a hard drive issue, including Disk Warrior, which couldn't replace the directory due to some kind of disk issue (I've forgotten). Was able to get into safe boot mode, tried fsck -y:
    +disk 0s3: I/O error+
    +Invalid Key length (4,25910)+
    +**volume check failed+
    +/dev/rdisk 0s3 (hfs) exited with signal 8+
Soon after that I couldn't even get into safe boot mode. Yesterday we replaced the hard drive, but now I can't even boot from the Leopard install disk, or even eject it so I can try booting from the Panther install disk. It's as if it's no longer recognizing the keyboard. I can't boot from the CD/DVD by holding down the "C" key, nor can I boot using the shift key. All paths lead to the flashing question mark/mac face folder...
What else can I try? Could this be a power supply issue?
There is nothing else hooked up to it at present, other than the keyboard and the monitor.
I do have a LaCie mini back-up drive with Panther installed available, if that's any use.
    TIA
    Rose

    Just for the records:
the Apple A1243 aluminium USB keyboard is not available at start up time (in connection with Mini 1,1 OS X 10.6.4, 1GB, late 2006)
I did not get the start screen to login, system hung with frozen wheel - so I was glad to have Boece's advice to use the IR remote for changing to the OS X DVD for startup (remember, no key worked on the keyboard). Nevertheless, Disk First Aid from the DVD have shown no problems with either disk nor allowances - but I have not been able to start from the the mini's disk.
Then tried the usual hints from Apple's documentation - to no avail.
After that I tried to restore from my actual TM backup, which used up some time (it's working rather slow, isn't it?), but then I got hung at the BSD's screen asking me to shut off an restart - another loop.
I guess that the iTunes update (9.2.1) is the culprit, as the last Safari update (5.0.1) is working OK.
At last, I made an erase & install - which worked (I am no in the duty of installing all updates again) so far. Let's see ...

  • How to print from Ipad3 on HP Envy 110 mobile out in the field?

I have bought an Ipad3 and a HP Envy 110, in order to be able to print PDF document mobile, having the printer in my car,  so I don't want to use a WiFi network. How do I get it working? If I just put power on the printer, the IPad doesn't "see" the printer. Who knows what to do? Thanks in avance, Peter

If the ad hoc printer mode is not available for the envy, there are some reasonably cheap ways to get a wifi network in your car.   A cheap router from best but will generate the wifi network.  Does not matter if you have Internet or not.  A ifi device will also work, and most/ all of them run on batteries.  Lastly, if you have a smart phone or I phone that generates a wifi hotspot, that may be enough to support the printing function.  ( I need to test my I phone later today to see if that works.)

  • How to print from XP to HP attached to Mac Mini usb

    Hi,
I have attached the HP F4280 Printer via usb to my Mac Mini. Printing my MacBo Pro wirelessly to it is okay already as answered on the other topic that I started as well. I can actually print now using my client mac.
My problem now is that I have a pc notebook as well running on XP. I want to print wirelessly from it to HP attached to Mac. I have configured all print sharing etc on Mac host. but can't add in XP.
I have downloaded already Bonjour for windows on my PC but can't seem to find the printer when I entered \\192.168.1.105\computer name.
Any help would be appreciated. No XP forum I could find.
    Thanks
    Jingo

You need a third party printing app or an app that lets your computer act as the print server. Your printer is not an AirPrint printer from what I can see. You can double check here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Printopia for the Mac or Fingerprint for Windows will let you use the computer as the print server.

I have an epsom Stylus SZ218 printer hardwired to my I my MAC and wish to print from my I Pad any ideas?

Epson SX218 does not appear on the list of AirPrint compatible printers....see below for details....so it would not be be possible to print from the iPad to this printer unless you add additional software that might allow this.

  • New Mac Mini won't print on Kodak AIO 7

We bought a new Mini yesterday and I've already run into a problem. Although my Mac recognizes my Kodak AIO 7 printer and I've been able to wireless scan from it to the Mac, I can't print from the Mini to the AIO. I get an error message that says that it can't connect to the print.
It's odd and I haven't been able to find a fix. Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Help Printing from Windows 7 to shared printer on Tiger/Mac Mini

UGH! My folks have long been running on a Power PC Mac Mini with Tiger. The Mac has an Epson Stylus CX4200 - works great in this configuration. Unfortunately, we have a need to implement a laptop with Windows 7 running. I'd like to print to the Mac's locally-attached printer from the wirelessly-connected laptop.
Anyone know how to configure windows 7 to print to the shared printer attached to the Mac? Any help, greatly appreciated.
    - Brad

    Hello Brad,
If you download and install Bonjour for Windows onto the Windows 7 laptop, this will assist you with finding the printer being shared by the Mac.
Note that the web page does not mention Win7 support, but since Vista is supported there should not be an issue.
I also cannot ever remember using it when I had Tiger on a Mac, so not 100% of it functioning correctly (certainly works when printer is shared by 10.5 and 10.6).
In case it doesn't work, you could manually add the printer queue on Win7. The connection used by Bonjour for Windows is IPP and you will need to know the IP address or name of the Mac sharing the printer. You will also need to know the name set for the Epson, which can be found via the Print & Fax pane.
    The network queue name on the Win 7 laptop needs to be;
    http://maccomputer_name.local:631/printers/PrinterName
    or
    http://IPaddress_of_mac:631/printers/PrinterName
Then for the Printer Manufacturer and Model you can select the HP Color Laserjet 4550 PS. Don't worry about selecting a PostScript (ie PS) driver. Even though your printer probably does not support PostScript, the Mac will convert the incoming PS spool file into the appropriate format used by the Epson.

  • Cannot enable web printing on my photosmart 310a

I have not been able to enable web printing from the day I took this printer out the box. When I touch the ePrint icon to enable it says cannot enable. It also says I am not connected, which I know I am because I have been able to ePrint from day one and it tells me in connection I am connected to my router. Can someone tell me how to enable web printing so I can get my email address from the sheet it prints out?  Thank you.

    Hello Grace-in-BC,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to help out in anyway I can regarding the network issues with the 7525. The results of the network test that state all pass is referring to the connection to the network only, not the ability for the printer to access the Internet.
The typical cause of this Internet connection issue is the DNS. Which DNS info have you used?
I have found the best DNS's to use are the Level3 and Google, from this web site: Free and Public DNS Servers
