Netgear used to connect fine, now, who knows??
Hi all,
I have a G4 graphite iBook clamshell and a few years ago bought a Netgear WGR614 to connect to it wirelessly via my cable modem.
Connected it, worked fine, no problems...but a few weeks ago I went to a friend's house with my iBook, used their wireless (no problems) and now my iBook won't stay connected to my Netgear at home.
The Airport is on but not connected; I can fiddle with the settings and sometimes, through sheer luck, it'll connect, but if I put the computer to sleep and turn it back on, it drops the signal.
The iBook sees the Netgear, it just won't connect. When I try to connect manually it asks for the password (passkey). I type it in and am told "there was an error connecting with the selected Airport network".
If it connects, it stays connected; but if I shut the computer off or put it to sleep, it disconnects.
Any ideas? It worked just fine before...

Read the first two reviews. Go to the Netgear Forum. Sounds like a lot of people are having trouble with that model.
You could hit a bunch of free wi-fi places and verify that's not your iBook.
I just had a client with the same problem and I researched the wireless router they had, same thing, replaced it, problem gone.

My new iPad with Retina Display is not able to connect to the Wi-Fi of my new Time Capsule. It use to connect, but now it just spins and spins and never connects. I've tried rebooting everything many times.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I purchased a 3TB Airport Time Capsule to use with my Mac running latest Maverics. After 8 hours been able to configure the box using Ethernet connection but now I want to move my current backups from my small driveand it wants authentication but no box is available to provide my administrator name can anyone help ?
I overcame the permissions by allowing both paths to have read and write access to anyone but that didnt solve it until I copied it into the DATA directory which I created on the Airport Time Capsule.
I had already discovered the TIME MACHINE How to transfer backups but I am struggling still with the item and cannot currently get it to work. My setup seems to have created a wireless link to my router which is what I wanted and in that set up there are three options. I have simply gone for the extension of my network. I ignored the other option there which I cannot remember something like DNS? That may be the problem becasuse when I remove the Ethernet connector it just doesnt go anywhere.
I have also found I cannot update my TIME MACHINE software (currently 1.3) as although Apple tell me I should be able to set backups hourly daily or weekly I have only ever been able to run it hourly when i would prefer longer intervals so thought an update might be necssary.
Also tried to get an update for my Airport Utility (Currently 6.3.2 but cannot find one even though I have read there might be one available and again this might be the problem.
Have reset the Time Capsule now about a dozen times.
Following the instructions and trying to copy my existing backup it suggests you need to copy it to the root directory but that is when I get some sort of security issue and I found I could only get it to accept if I dragged my .backupdb to the DATA directory on the Time Capsule. I dont even know if I do this it will work when I come to use it.
I therefore found your reply of no more help than i had discovered but I hope you return to read this note because I really do need some help.
I am intending starting again in the next couple of days and fully documenting what I do and what I see and then as I suspect it will be no different and I will then seek an appointment at the Apple Store in Trafford Centre and if that proves unsuccessful then I still have time to return and become a dissatisfied customer with Apple for the first time in a long experience with Apple. I have noticed frightening notes on the conversations which point to problems of Mavericks working with Airport Time Machine!! So in the end it might not be me doing anything wrong. Unfortunately you do feel left out in the dark sometimes that is why I hope you can respond with a solution? -
Itunes wont start in Windows7 Professional 64-bit, it used to work fine now it won't start!
OK, So my itunes use to work fine until yesterday when I went to open it. It wont start and I tried many different things. Unistalled, re-installed, removed everything apple related (one of the apple support articles told me to try that) and that didn't work either. I know this question may have been posted earlier but I can't find anything for this specific issue (win7 pro, 64bit).
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.Before you go knocking a much better OS than you'd wish to believe, I'm having the SAME problem in XP.

By "copy", do you mean inserting a document into the printer's feed (or on the scan bed) of the printer and having it then make a copy onto another sheet of paper? If so, then it's highly unlikely to be a Mac-related problem. You probably will need to take this up with Brother tech support.

I've been using my audigy 2 Platinum to record myself playing guitar for the past 2 years. I have my guitar amp hooked up (via send input on the back of the amp) to the Line In 2 (MIC IN 2) input. Lots of the time ill be up late recording stuff, so i turn my master volume down on the amp (so it doesn't come out of the amp) and just have it come out of my pc speakers. This time, the sound thats comming out of the speakers is just ugly noise. When i'm not playing anything it just hums. When i play something it just sounds like crap. I thought at first it might just be the speakers, so i recorded something and listend to it on different speakers, sounded exactly the same. So next thing i tried was a different guitar amp. Same thing. So i then opened up my tower to see if anything looked strange, everything looks fine. Next i uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers thinking that might help, sure enough, no help. I came here and read the FAQs and tried anything that sounded like it might help. Still havn't the same problem. I am completly baffled now. Is it possible i could have damaged it the last time i used it's If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know. I am running WinXP service pack 2. Thanks

Thanks for confirming that is the correct directory. I agree cloning directories isn't the proper solution and would like to help identify what actually went wrong. Perhaps a mapping was removed from CF Admin. It's intriguing that expandPath('/secure') resolves to the proper directory but <cfobject name="getreqstatus" component="secure.common.getreqstatus"> throws an error that it can't find the getreqstatus.cfc that's located in secure's "common" subdirectory.
Just to be clear, is C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev the website's root directory? And is there also an Application.cfc file at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\Application.cfc as well as the one at at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin\xxxx-Dev\secure\Application.cfc?
Could you create a file named bar.cfm w/ this code?

Edit: Please rename or remove the cloned directories (i.e. the /secure/common within the calling routine's directory) before running the above.

Laserjet 2200d used to work fine; now red light on and can't find problem
I have a Laserjet 2200d. It worked fine for years. Suddenly, one day it just stopped working. The red emergency light is on. I can't find any problem. I've tried the usual, like paper jam and shaking cartridge. I recently found a user forum that suggested taking the whole machine apart and adding a drop of oil to the motor shaft in the circuit board of the laser scanner assembly. I even tried that. Didn't make a difference. Anything else I should try before tossing the printer? An old cartridge shouldn't make printer stop, should it? I don't want to buy a new cartridge or spend money on this printer unless I know I can get printer to work.

I am running version 24.4.0 I can send and receive email but when I get an email that has a hyperlink that I click on and go to. But we don't go anywhere, I tried running in the safe mode that that help, tried rebooting that didn't help. I have an earlier version on my laptop that works fine.

Hello,
I am using a MacBook Pro. Bought in April 2011. Upgraded to Lion, OSX 10.7.3
I have an Apple mail account that synced with a gmail account in my Mail Program.
I then chose the CLOUD activation. I can find my mail if I go to cloud.com but I no longer get any Apple mail delivered to my Mail program on my computer. My gmail account syncs just fine. In fact, the Mail program doesn't even open any longer when I double click. I have to go to the Mail menu, select Message Viewer to even view my mail program now. The Internet connection is testing fine using the Connection Doctor. But when the Connection Doctor program just whirs for eternity and never finishes checking the accounts.
Is this a bug? Do you have to set up your mailbox again for Apple mail to get it to sync after having mail hosted on the Cloud? Or does hosting on the Cloud mean I now always have to go the hassle of logging in at the cloud site to even access my Apple mail?
Any ideas out there? I am sure there are Mac geniuses, the real ones, floating around in cyber space and would love to get some intelligent directions to solve this new issue.

AnneI would like to add that Comcast is my internet provider. Perhaps that is part of the issue although the Connection Doctor confirms the mail box is connecting to the internet. No other function processes when Connection Doctor program is used to find the source of the issue. I have read forum posts but am unable to find a way to get my Apple mail to be delivered to my computer. It worked fine up until I chose to transfer mail to the Cloud. My mail account is a .mac account.
Still hoping someone out there can help me.

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch and just did the update to IOS 5. Now I can't connect to my Netgear wifi router. My iPhone connects fine along with all of my other laptops etc. I have the router set with WPA-PSK [TKIP] security and an access list. I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?
Thanks Bob, I don't know why but it all of a sudden worked a few days later. It's a mystery but at least problem solved.

When try to connect my iPod touch 4th gen to my house Wifi it won't connect, it used to work fine but now it dosen't work, but it does say that the internet is available, but when I tap on it it just loads. all other devices work fine.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Sounds more like you have a problem with your apple id. For starters go to that page click manage my apple id and singn in. If you can't sign in reset password.
