Hey, i need help. So my ipod was broken, I got it fixed and everything was okay. Then i reset the ipod due to difficulties and i want WiFi but Netgear asked for a password.I completely forgot it because it usually always automatically would be set. So i didn't know and called Netgear. The guy was very rude and was like I can't give you your password because your warranty expired. I always had warranty but never really needed it so thats why I didn't repurchase it. I was like I don't want to pay $60.00 to find out my password. Does any one know how to find out your WiFi password for the ipod because no matter what I did, it will always say "incorrect password unable to join "NETGEAR". HELPPP!!!!!!!

This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?

I need to connect a Netgear WiFi extender to my time capsule

I have bought a Netgear WiFi extender to connect my Skye TV box to the internet. I use a Time Capsule as the home router and it won't connect to it. Any ideas please.

The Netgear will only work if it uses universal repeater.. You cannot extend wireless on Apple router using non-apple products.. and universal tends to be somewhat flakey.. good luck.

If you have a recent Mac.....
Open up Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Base Station menu up at the top of the screen
There is a setting for Add WPS Printer there, but it should work for vitually any WPS device
Choose the First Attempt option as a substiture for a button, which the AirPort does not have
If all else fails, then you will need to use the manual connection method suggeted by Netgear, not the WPS method.

The netgear is not going to work very well.. and not at all unless it is universal wireless extender.. you cannot use WDS method.
If it does support universal wireless then make sure the airport uses a rational SMB compatible wireless name.. not an apple name which is 35 characters long with spaces and illegal characters like apostrophe.
So nice AE name.. AEwifi and actually while you are trying.. fruitlessly to do this.. use AE24ghz and AE5ghz (so different names on the different bands)
Assuming your AE is gen3 or greater.
You should also fix the wireless channel at least for 2.4ghz since the netgear is probably only going to repeat 2.4ghz so use channel 11, as a trial.
And use no wireless security as a test.. if that works.. then use WPA1 & 2.. as often old equipment using WPA2 is not compatible.
If it fails with simple name.. fixed channel and no security. Sorry it is not compatible at all.. it happens.
If your AE is G wireless or earlier model.. really the time has come for replacement.
If your Express is G wireless model it is not supported.. and is too old to bother with expect I guess if you want to run audio to a speaker.
You must use older 5.6 utility to do this.. so do you have a computer running older OS.. up to Mountain Lion it is easy to install with a bit of manipulation.. later is much harder .. or windows computer anywhere or available to you.

Printing from iMac using bonjour to a printer connected to netgear wifi router USB port

Wondering if someone could help provide advice. I have just purchased my first iMac and a new NetGear W600 wifi router. I have connected my Canon multifunction MX310 printer directly to my iMac and it prints and scans perfectly. However when I connect it to the USB port of my new NetGear W600 wifi modem the only thing I can print is the test page on the iMac, ... nothing else prints. I receive the message that my iMac has connected to the printer but nothing prints out, except the basic test page.
In stark contrast, when I install bonjour on my Dell notebook PC, running Vista, it prints perfectly to the same MX310 printer connected to the NetGear wifi router!

Make sure that the Att Modem goes to the netgear router via ethernet cable. Then connect your Apple Tv with a ethernet cable to the back of the net gear router. Airplay wants it to both be connected to the same device, usually.

Netgear wifi booster for my IPad

I'm trying to setup a netgear wifi booster for my IPad but it won't communicate connect to the internet

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Connecting T5 to Netgear WiFi router

I have been trying to connect my T5 using the Palm WiFi card to my Netgear DG834G ADSL WiFi router and have read the very helpful check list provided on your site as well as the other correspondence. I started with the usual problem of the thing disconnecting after trying to download the IP and worked up to manual entry of IPs and DNSs etc.
So far I have :-
Found the T5 MAC and entered it as a trusted device in the router.
From the router itself I have found :-
The two DNS values (these are for the ADSL port?)
The hex 128 bit Key (all 4 are the same) and checked it against a separate key generator using the phrase I entered when I set the router up with the P.C.
The following IP address information:- For the ADSL port:- the IP address and it’s mask, network type (PPPoa), the IP address for the gateway and the two DNS values. I have also found the IP address for the router LAN port.
Loading these in various combinations into the T5 setup in manual causes the unit to seem to log on and display the field strength. But Blazer etc does not work. If I change the WEP key to make it wrong it logs on in the same way, which is very suspicious!
I have managed to get the T5 to download the IP address in auto (after setting it as a trusted device in the router) by switching to ad-hoc and it returns a message saying that it has "connected". Checking the network "info" in prefs/WiFi then shows an IP not found in the router information with it’s mask. However, no DNS info or IP address in the line called "Router" shows up and although the response from Blazer is different (quick connect and URL rejection), nothing works. Manually entering the DNSs with auto IP recovery in ad-hac did not change anything.
I have been through entering the WEP key in hex etc.
Of all the IP address information available, which ones should be entered in the three fields required on the T5? The DNS values relate to the ADSL port. Is this OK.
I would welcome any suggestions. I have yet to try it at a remote site, but I am sure the basic kit is OK, just finger trouble !!!

Can't connect to netgear wifi with macbook pro

I have a Netgear N900 router and although I can find the signal I cannot connect to the wifi. Each time I clicked on it, it would fail to connect and say to move closer to the router. However the router has already been upgraded to make the signal strong enough to reach my room. I have tried restarting the router and it has not worked. I have gone into the router through my browser and reserved an IP address and changed my network settings on my computer to "using DHCP with manual address" and entered the reserved IP address. I restarted my computer but now my macbook pro says that it is connected but I can't connect to the internet when i open a browser. I'm not sure if I'm not reserving the IP address correctly or if there is another solution to this problem. If anyone has encountered this problem and found a solution that would be amazing. I have been trying for a month now to fix this. Thanks!

It does this i try to connect then asks me for password and I type it in and it doesn't connect it doesn't say unable to join or incorrect password I press it again and press join network and the network falls down for a second and does the same thing over and over till it finally connects, it happens on other people's iPads and does the same thing it acts like its going to connect and does the same thing this is at a school in Alabama but if your connected and you turn off wifi and turn it on again and try to connect it connects idk know why this happens this is on a NETGEAR modem if it resets then everybody is able to connect and after a little while it misbehaves for someone else but before class it works just fine this was on a ipad air and ipad 3rd generation it does it on every ipad and iPod touch on any apple device if I can I'll give you a video it even happens to every classmate even at 1st period i don't know what's wrong

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Problem joining netgear wifi booster

I have purchased a netgear WNIFI booster WN1000RP as I have poor wifi in parts of the house. I can see the network on my ipad but am unable to join it using the same password as my router. Anyone else had same problem!

Can other devices connect through the netgear booster?
My iPad Mini performs average to poor with WIFI networks outside the room.
Line of sight between iPad en Router / Booster works best to be able to connect.
The iPad can receive the incoming WIFI signal, though the router can't "hear" the iPad
because it's outgoing signal is to weak for the distance.
Move closer to the router or establish a line of sight.

After recent updates, my speeds have dropped off. My iTunes pauses and buffers frequently during a song. Apple has kindly replaced my Apple TV, but the problem remains. I have spent big money on the latest WiFi router (Netgear), but no change. What gives?

I am using Apple TV, linked to my computer network via a NetGear WiFi router. After the latest apple updates, it now takes forever to load my library from my computer. Music pauses frequently to buffer before continuing, and pictures take a long time to load. Apple has replaced my apple tv on warranty, but nothing has improved.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

I have a wifi network provided by a Netgear router. Can I extend it in WDS with an Airport Express? In other words, does the airport express go in WDS with a Netgear wifi?

This is one of those things where you really won't know until you try. If you need to extend your Netgear router, you really should use a Netgear device to do it to insure compatibility.
The reason for this is that WDS was never adopted as an official standard, so the chances of one device working with another manufacturers device are open to question.
If you want to try the AirPort Express, it would be a good idea to understand the store's return policy in advance before you buy.
I would be extremely surprised if it worked with an Apple device, but I suppose anything is possible.
