NetInstall Naming Clients File???

I have seen this same question posted a couple of different times but I have never seen a solid answer. So I hope you will bear with me.
Tiger Server offers, or at least so they say, the ability to name client computers when performing a Netinstall. To do this you must create a csv file, either .txt or .rtf, which lists the hardware name and the share name and the local name of the assorted clients. I have created this file, both in txt from text edit, Excel and Word (saved as txt) and as a rtf file. I have stored this file in the /Library/NetBoot//NetBootSP1 and have indicated this in the systems image utility when creating the image. Yet the clients always revert back to the default name + MAC addr.
I have tried a couple of variations on the content of the file but I have not had any sucess. I got the MAC address usings the "Reports" function of Remote Desktop. I then, on different ocassions, either copied them directly into Excel or Textedit and inserted the names I needed. I also created this same file totally manually using Text Edit. There was no change in the result between the various combinations.
I have also contacted Apple tech support about this but the answers were more of suggestions, none of which worked for me.
If you have been able to actually name your clients by using this file capability could you please give me the detailed description of just what your file format was including number of columns, blank spaces, delimitors and so forth, where it was stored and whatever else you may have had to do to make this naming process performed as it is supposed to?
I am trying to image about a hundred systems and going to each of them to correct the names after they are imaged, even using Remote Desktop,would take more time than I have.

You won't find MachineRenamer at Version Tracker, from what I can see. It's still available at http://www.mmlc.northwestern.edu/mmlc-software/machinerenamer/.
We've been using MR for about three years now, starting with 10.2. It's proven to be less robust under 10.4.3 than I would like--some machines show duplicate names at the login window (meaning they take the name of the original machine on which we built the image, then add a number, like "labmac01 (3)"), but I suspect this is due to the login window caching the name from an earlier point in the boot process (before MachineRenamer actually runs), because the hostname is always set properly after the machine is finished booting.
Even though MR never got beyond version 0.5, it's a pretty solid piece of software.

I was have some problems earlier with a very, very slow MacBookPro which wouldn't shut down. Every program interrupted Log Out. When I finally restarted, a file named "client node" appeared on my Desktop. It's a quite large file (1.23G). I tried to trash it, but Trash won't accept it. Is it important, can it be thrown out?

You don't "load" jars. If it's on the classpath, you can obtain individual resources from it using various methods on either Class or ClassLoader. Do you mean "how to add a jar to the classpath at runtime"? Can't be done without using a classloader, typically URLClassLoader or a subclass thereof. Why you want to not use the proven method is beyond me. Presumably because you don't understand classloading. In which case, forget it.

When i execute as a standalone application it displays a message as
"Some ActiveX Control on this page is unsafe.. do u want to continue"
if i choose 'yes', it reads the file and list in the text area..
But the same coding doesn't work on Tomcat....

Is there any file carver technology tool to recover from a HDD only a group of named jpg files that i lost? I lost 500 jpg files in my iPhoto library named i.e from 1.jpg to 500.jpg and I want to recover ONLY them from an 1TB external WD My Book e-sata disk, to avoid time waste and unwanted jpg files.
I' ve used data recovery software as Photorec, but it recovers all the jpgs it can find, it can't search for specific name files and as it uses its own naming for the files it recovers, i have thousands of photos to look up and find these i really want.Not to mention so much waiting time.
Even if you know other technology tool that can help me please tell me.
I've also used StellarPhoenixMacDataRecovery that is not file carving tool, but with similar results.

How to Load table from client file in C?

I'm trying to determine how to write a C program to load a client file with the "load table ... using client file..." syntax without calling out to the dbisql program to load the table. I'm probably not seeing the forest for the trees here. I know I can use the bulk api (equivalent of bcp) but would rather use the load table because it is much faster.

There is nothing special to do - you execute the statement from your program just like any other SQL statement. The only thing to be aware of are the privilege/permission issues:
When loading from a file on a client computer:
READ CLIENT FILE privilege is also required for the database user.
Read privileges are required on the directory being read from.
The allow_read_client_file database option must be enabled.
The read_client_file secure feature must be enabled.
Revoking these privileges is also the only way you can prevent a user from executing the statement.

Naming R3d Files in Premier + Timeline Settings for 4K plus archival HD and SD footage

We recently made the switch over to Premier and are beginning post on our first 4k 16x9 project. Very exciting to be editing with the raw r3d files, our one concern is that naming the files (it is a feature doc with a lot of footage) in premier will break the link to the orginal file once we export via xml to resolve for the online as well as to go back to color correct in Red CineX. Is this correct or comepletely misguided. My gut says that naming the files in premier is just adding to the metadata associated with the clip and the export should be fine. Can you please set me straight?
We are also going to be adding archival footage from 1080 to SD with varied frame rates. The bulk of the footage is shot at 4k 16x9 at 23.98. What would you recommend our timeline setting be set at? Ultimately we will be exporting at 1080, but ideally want to keep the timeline as high res as possible for future export at higher resolutions.

I'm afraid there probably isn't a good way to scale SD to 4K...
unless it originated on film and you can go back to transfer.
Magic Bullet Instant HD works pretty well upscaling SD to HD.

I am referring to file management on disk as it relates to the Project.
For example if you load all of your media and change the file names,
then discover that there is something quirky with a particular file... it will
make it more difficult to trace on disk for evaluation.
It will not affect the media reference in .xml export at all.

Quick for timestamp when naming a file in save dialog?

I would like to be able to add a timestamp when naming a file in the save dialog. The reason is that it will give me a quick way to name a file when the rest of the file name I have entered might conflict with a file of the same name.
Is there a quick key combo that would does this?

Why do I often get some folder in my Trash named Recovered Files?

My computer often has problem when sutting down. Some time I even have to mannually switch off the computer because it doesnot shut down itself. Also I keep getting folders named Recovered files in my trash. Are these relevent files. Can someone please explain this?

Usually they are installer files that you don't need. Open trash and make sure it is not a Doc or something else that you think is important, and put it a folder if you want keep it, but you can usually trash it.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

You don't need to maintain all versions of the upgrade chain, but many of us do in case we need to work on a legacy file. If you want to rmove a version, though, ti should be done BEFORE installing the later one. Just reinstall CS5 and things should get back to normal.

Auto-naming of files in folder

I've got a question in regards to the process of naming several files in a folder. I know that in Windows it is possible to mark all files in a folder and then rename them all without having to rename every single file. Let me give you an example;
- I have a folder og photos name "Summer 2009".
- In this folder there is 65 files(photos)
- I mark all items and rename them "Summer 2009"
- After this, the files in the folder be named: "Summer 2009 (1)", "Summer 2009 (2)", "Summer 2009 (3)" etc. etc.
In this way it is easier to keep every photo arranged in the order I prefer and it does not take long to name the files.
So my question goes; is there a such a function or a similar one on Macs?

There is no real way of doing this by rules. OPA does not have a concept of when an entity is added (ie there is no way of asserting in the rules which entity was added first).
This should be done by whatever is adding the accounts, or it could be done via custom code using an entity inference listener.

I am trying to learn SAP HANA and started watching the tutorial videos from SAP HANA Academy. Would it be possible for me to download the SAP HANA Studio and Client files so I can practice development on my PC? The video, HANA Academy - Installing the SAP HANA Studio and SAP HANA Client tools - YouTube, points to an old SAP Service Marketplace interface and I am unable to follow the instructions on where to get these files.

I REALLY need to find Oracle Client File

I was installing a copy of Oracle 8i - 8.1.7 on a Unix operating system. After installation I tried to locate the client file so that I can start up the client, but to my surprise I could not find the client file(s) - program. Do you know what filename under the Oracle directory contains the client file. Without this I cannot run any of the great wizards that Oracle has to offer.

Well, there are a whole lot of files that come under the broad category of 'Oracle client'. There's presumably a /bin directory that has a number of utilities like SQL*Plus available...

If you go to "Software", you can download the full product (i.e. 8i EE). On install, you'll be presented with the option to do a full install (client + database) or a client-only install. You'll want to choose the client-only install.
