Netra 1125 Power saving settings

We have just installed Netra 1125 with Oracle. One peculiar problem we are facing with the machine is the m/c is getting power recycled automatically . And automatically the machine is getting halt at Ok prompt on the console, we are giving Go command to bring up the machine.
We have tried with power.conf ,environment settings - Nothing has worked out . Looking forward for possible help for this problem...

Hey there ,
To resolve this problem , please uninstall the toshiba power saver from the add-remove programs menu and then change the necessary settings from the Windows Power Options and then reinstall the Toshiba PowerSaver from the Tools and Utilities CD or from the web.
Cheers

  • Power Saving Settings

Okay, I have a few questions about the power savings on a Macbook.
Does "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" affect system performace? because I'm planning to disable that when I am connected to the power supply and enable it when I'm using the battery.
I was also wondering what power settings I should use still wanting good performance and long battery.

When you put the hard drive to sleep there may be a slight delay in responsiveness when the drive is waked up.
You can set any combination of settings for running on battery, but the better the performance level the less will be the battery life. You will just have to find what works best for you. The "normal" option on battery will provide about 3 hours typically.

  • N8: Power saving - Visibla or not visible

In the power saving settings of my N8 there is the choice  among "Visible" and "Not Visible" related to the request to switch to power saving mode when battery low. Someone knows the difference? I'd prefer the N8 to switch automatically in power saving when battery low without asking, so, is the "not visible " option to allow this?

Deactivate the Power Saver Mode via the power key is not working as well. The phone shows that the POWER SAVING MODE DEACTIVATED but the settings still don't change to normal. So far, this was the biggest problem with my N8. I really hope that the upcoming firmware of the N8 will address this issue.

  • Power Saving "Exclusion" Collection

Hello. I've implemented power saving settings on a query based collection which dynamically updates itself so right now there are over 600 PC's within it. I'm starting to get calls from users who want to be excluded from the plan for one reason or another.
Right now I'm modifying the query to explicitly exclude the PC name (System Resource Name not equal to "computer name") but I see this as a very tedious method. Can I create a direct membership collection, call it something like "Power Saving Exclusions", set
the power saving feature to "Never apply power management", and manually add PC names there? In effect I'll have the same PC in both collections. Which collection will take precedence? Is there a better way to go about this? Thanks!

I think I answered my own question. Reading theough the Admin Guide on Power Saving I came across the Exclusion section. It reads:
In Configuration Manager 2007 R3, you can prevent collections of computers from receiving power management settings. For example, you might want to exclude a collection of servers from receiving any power plans. If a computer is a member of any collection
that is excluded from power management settings, it does not apply power management settings even if it is a member of another collection that applies power management settings.
    Sorry for jumping the gun!

  • Is there any settings for motorola bc4 bluetooth power saving on Presario CQ56?

I bought a Gigabyte Bloetooth mouse (M7700B) and it is work fine, but If I stop to move the mouse for a while (2-5s), than at the next movement the cursor wont start for a few seconds. Like the cursor stucks.
I have read an article, about this problem, and there was writen, this is because the bluetooth device power saving. In tis article was suggested, to turn off power saving on bluetotth device, but on the controll panel, thre is nothing to set.
If anybody has some information about this, tel me.
Thanks and sorry for my English

It's an idea, Scott, but I haven't heard that anyone has implemented it.
There are a number of other options that various people have noted would be handy to have "on" when running on AC and "off" when running on battery, or vice versa. We can all think of some of them. Send feedback to Apple:

  • Adobe Reader 2.0 for PocketPC power-saving issue

    Hello,
I have a Fujitsu-Siemens LOOX720 device and noticed that device battery discharges relatively quickly when I read PDF documents with Adobe Reader (Windows Mobile 2003SE).
The trouble is that device runs at turbo processor speed all the time the Adobe Reader document is viewed (even when you switch to other applications and put Adobe Reader instance to background).
I set the processor speed settings of my device to Automatic Mode and the rest of applications work as expected - they do not consume much CPU power when they are idle and the CPU is automatically switched to power saving mode. This does not happen when Adobe Reader is viewing the document and the only solution is to set the CPU settings to Power Saving mode manually. This is very inconvenient because rendering of PDF documents is too slow in power saving mode.
I hope the description is clear and it will help to fix this problem in future versions of Adobe Reader.
    Thank you!

    >>> battery drain happens only when the device is powered on and there is running instance of Adobe Reader with opened document. <<
Actually, my experience is continued battery drain when powered OFF and there is running instance of Adobe Reader with opened document.
One possibility is that when the midnight calendar update occurs, an open instance of reader may keep the unit powered on.
On windows mobile devices, the power button is a "suspend" button and applications remain open, and while normally inactive, some programs continue to run and make power demands on the ppc.
    >> report to adobe <<
It's been pretty obvious over the years that Adobe does not care about nor will invest any resources in the ppc reader to address any user issues.

  • E72 "Activate power saving". Consequences????

I want to know DETAILS what happens when I push ON/OFF button and select "Activate power saving".
What are the negative effects of this?
Noise cancellation still works or NOT?
    Does GPS work?
    What else???
"The Nokia E72 features active noise cancellation and navigation as well as a digital compass."
The latest USER GUIDE says NOTHING ABOUT THIS! I used Ctrl-F to find "power saving". Basically nothing is said what happens in power saving mode!!!!
    Languages: English, Finnish

it disables all UI effects (Theme transitions, etc.),
lowers display brightness to minimum. Brightness option in display settings is disabled.
switches the processor to a more power efficient mode (performance is noticeably lower)
instantly turns off connections when they aren't needed (e.g. WLAN connection gets disabled instantly after you open a web page, if you want to open another one then the device connects and then quickly disconnects again). As a result, push mail gets disabled. You will have to manually sync mails as long as power save mode is enabled.
Noise cancellation still works. GPS still works - in the same way as with the WLAN connection described above

  • Power Saving is Fake

i just want to tell every1 here that the power saving mode doesnot saves your battery.
i have tested it for the last 4 days.
i put the my n8 on power saving mode for a period of 24 hours and during which i jst receive 2 calls and used wi-fi for 15 mins only. These are the most appopriate figures i'm telling here.
and my battery was showing last bar after exact 24hours.
then i put my cell phone on profile "Meeting" with i have disabled the ringing vibration only.
and i was expecting that i'll no longer last for 16 - 18 hours .. and i received and dialled 15 calls instead of that 2 calls on power saving mode and used the wifi for 30+ mins. But surprisingly after 24 hours i still had my battery showing 3 bars..
this really made me surprise that if the phone is showing me 3 bars of battery under normal conditions then what the heck is Power Saving Mode is doing ??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This is hardly a scientific analysis. Power saving mode doesn't switch off any particular features, it simply puts various functionalities on a mode that consumes less power when not being used during normal operation. Only if the phone is in offline mode with all types of radio signal disabled is it truly doing "nothing".
Switching to a profile with no audible ringtones will only make a significant difference to overall consumption if your power unless you receive literally hundreds of calls, the maximum any incoming call will ring is 30 seconds which even at highest volume is not going to make a dent.
Your WLAN usage is not just down to surfing, certain home screen widgets or other apps may be making connections at other times. Personally, I only use widgets to give me quick accss to phone features such as my contact, calendar, music player etc. - I never have any of the downloadable widgets or widgets for TV/Radio services etc. active.
By far the biggest impact on your consumption is likely to be your network connection, firstly you need to be aware that power consumption is different if the phone is on GSM or 3G, talk time is significantly lower on 3G than GSM, though standby (ie: completely idle) time is marginally higher on 3G. If you are in an area where your network operator has a lower quality 3G service, it is possible that your phone is having to hunt more often for signals (if 3G drops out, the phone aurtomatically picks up GSM until it can find again a good enough 3G signal). If this is the case, you might benefit from switching to GSM-only mode (Menu>Settings>Connectivity>Network>Network mode>GSM) to see if this makes any difference. I live in an area where my operator only offers GSM services, so with no network switching the battery life is fantastic. I work in an area where I can usually get 3G and sometimes 3.5G, and I do notice a difference in battery life due to network switching.
I recently travelled by Eurostar from Brussels to London, during which I watched a film of almost two hours on the N8, then spent the afternoon in the city with friends during which time the phone was frequently roaming between different networks, and by the time I got to the friend's house where I stayed the night (around 8 o'clock), I stlll had three bars. Power consumption is a minefield because there are a myriad of different factors, many of which are external to the phone, which affect performance.

  • N8 power saving problem

When i deactivate the power saving mode the phone wont adjust the Deplay Light Sensor. It remains at low, doesn't came back to the settings before activating the power saving. Do you know some fix ?

  • N8 - Power Saving Mode

    Hi,
I got a bit problem here. My N8 will automatically activate the POWER SAVING MODE once the phone battery goes low. I've set the power saver mode query to "ON" so that the phone will ask wether to activate the power saving mode or not. When I choose "NO" the phone will automatically turn the power saving mode in the background without displaying an icon (the battery icon will appears as a "moon"). The big clock screen saver is set to NONE, the theme effects switch to "OFF" and the light time out will change from 30 seconds (default) to only 5 seconds.
    Any idea or help? ThanX!

  • Power saving problem

    Hi everybody
Is there a setting somewhere to prevent power saving while using quicktime?
Example, when I use Mplayer for video, the screen stays as is and never dims or goes blank. With quicktime it dims and goes blank if you don't move the mouse?

Is there a setting somewhere to prevent power saving while using quicktime?
I don't believe so. You can, however, change you Energy Saver settings on a temporary basis, reset the delay time for a longer period, or install a utility like "Sleepless" which allows you to override the Energy Saver settings with a simple menu bar click.

  • KDE and fglrx module - power saving

    Hello,
yesterday I switched from gnome to KDE 4.6 (stable) and have a problem regarding my graphics card driver:
I use the proprietary driver fglrx (11.3), which worked fine for me under gnome, but now with KDE the graphics card doesn't go into power-saving mode. So the fan is really loud all the time and with "aticonfig --odgc" I see that the core clock is at maximum. Under gnome the core frequency was not so high and the card managed to go into powersaving mode.
Has anybody the same problem and can help me?
    Thanks,
    Matse

    Hi,
this did not solve my problem. What helps is to change the "Composit Type" from "opengl" to "XRender" in system-settings "desktop effects" (or similar, translated on the fly from german). But this is no solution for me because with XRender kde is really slow even with all effects disabled and by the way do I really like the desktop effects
And "aticonfig --odgc" shows a GPU-load of "0%" but does not lower core clock or core voltage, that's really strange.
Any suggestions besides buying a nvidia card?
    bye

  • How do you turn off power saving mode on a Officejet 6000

I have 5 Officejet 6000 printer contected by using the ethernet port. They print fine when not in power saving mode. When they go into power saving mode and a print job is sent to them, they do not print. You have to power off and on the printer for the job to print. I need to turn off the power saving mode on these printers. Computers sending print jobs are XP and Window 7.

I am not aware of a way to turn that feature off completely since it does not have a front panel.
However, I suspect largely that the issue is with DHCP IP (automatic) settings.  Printers in general, with some routers, have issues with DHCP and standby where they no longer communicate using DHCP information.
I recommend setting static IP addresses for any printer on a network as it prevents most network issues with printers from occuring.
Print a network configuration page by holding the network button for 3 seconds and then releasing it.  A printout should be printed with the printers IP address.
Once that is done, enter that IP address into the browser on a computer as if you were going to a site.  Once that is entered, go to that site and the printer status page should be loaded.
There should be a Network option at the top.  Select that option.
On this page, somewhere on the left, there should be an IPv4 option in a wired section.  Select this and it will give the option for automatic or manual IP setup.
Select Manual IP setup.  Enter The IP address and subnet mask from the printout.  You can enter the gateway and the DNS servers, but they aren't really used since this printer does not have any web functions.
Click apply and you should get a success message.
At this point, the printer should have a static IP address and the issue of it not responding after entering standby should no longer be present.
PrintDoc's post has similar steps for a wireless version of the same printer.  The only step that would really be different is choosing Wired instead of Wireless on the setup page.

Would like to to know whether, aside from the quicker screen dimming, there are any substantial differences in how the phone operates when set to Power Saving mode?
I generally keep other specific settings in such as way as to minimize power usage (WLAN scanning, Bluetooth, GPS off, etc.).

    Steps:
    1. Video is correctly playing on youtube
    2. Since I'm just watching and not pressing any key or moving the mouse, the display will blank for power saving after some minutes
    3. I move the mouse to wake it
