Netra T1 (200) and Sun Storedge D1000

Following scenario:
I want to set up an Sun Cluster 3 enviroment. For that I have two Netra T1 (200) and two D1000.
The Netra T1 has only one SCSI interface on borad, so I added an PCI SCSI/Ethernet combocard in both server. Now I am able to write data from each server to each disk array.
But the following error occur:
After all parts were connected, I execute an "probe-scsi-all" on one server to see the disks in the D1000, but I cannot see any disks of the D1000.
On the second server I got the error message:
Nov 5 10:58:13 wapgw2 scsi: WARNING: /pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci@5/SUNW,isptwo@4 (isp0):
Nov 5 10:58:13 wapgw2 SCSI Cable/Connection problem.
Nov 5 10:58:13 wapgw2 scsi: Hardware/Firmware error.
Nov 5 10:58:13 wapgw2 scsi: WARNING: /pci@1f,0/pci@1/pci@5/SUNW,isptwo@4 (isp0):
Nov 5 10:58:13 wapgw2 Fatal error, resetting interface
I work with Solaris 8, patchlevel 24. The Prom was already updated (111991-06).
Can somebody help me?

Hello,
thanks for help.
In order to change the scsi initiator on one of the two machines, I need the path of both interfaces.
Since now I changed it not.
As I know you do the following:
- switch off one server
- set auto-boot? to false
- reset-all
- probe-scsi-all
after that you have the path of both scsi interfaces. With that info you perform a nvedit and set the id of one machine for example to 6.
But I thought that regardless of the scsi id, I should be able to do a probe-scsi-all.
Was this a mistake from me?

    Hi,
It seems to me that you have not created a proper sysidcfg file. From your post, it looks to me like your sysidcfg contains no entries. This is why it prompts you to enter the kernel path. Look on docs.sun.com for a guide to creating the sysidcfg file .

  • Sun netra t 200  please help

Hello and Hi to all members,
I am trying to install solaris 9 OS to my sun netra t 200, but the problem is i dont have any sun keyboard. I am currently using serial connection installing the OS. I have problem finding the command especially F2_standard.
please help me regarding the problem??I tried to search from the net but i still can find it?? please help me??
    thanks
    syafiq

During a serial installation, it asked for your terminal type. How did you respond?
During the serial installation it displays a message that function keys like [F2] can be replaced with the key sequence <ESC>-<2>. That should work fine with a 'vt100' connection.

  • Sun Storedge L9 command utility, need to load and unload tapes.

I am looking for a utility that will unload, and reload an L9 Sun storedge.
    I found:
    http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/jsp/descFile.jsp?url=descAll/l9ctl
This utility has some calls that either we don't have, or I can't find:
    loadmedia.cgi
    inloadmedia.cgi
Am I setting this up incorrectly?
Where is this stuff supposed to be?
    I am running on a sun ulta-5, Solaris 8.

    Hello!
Before use, You should small customize script:
    1) Change
    $LibraryHostName="http://l9"; - It's library hostname.
Or set this name in /etc/hosts
    $AdminPwd="12341234"; - password to Library
And, of course, before use this script - you should setup netwotk connection of L9.
Another way - use project MTX.
    http://freshmeat.net/projects/mtx/releases
This program use SCSI commands for control library.
    Regards.

    Hello All,
Are SUN StorEdge c2 and Sun Storagetek C2 the same ? or are they 2 different products.
    Thanks
    Venkat Jupalli

mmmmn, not sure about this one, but I would assume that moving from StorEdge to Storagetek is brand name related and came about from Sun Microsystems' acquisition of StorageTek late '05. Call marketing for more information.

    Have you used lom?
#. should get you to lom> prompt

Once you see what is faulty or repair it then you can

will get you back to Solaris.
Chapter 8 in the Netra T1 AC200 and DC200 Server User's Guide has great info on LOM - Lights Out Management Looks like manual is only available to contract sunsolve users:

This assumes you have SUNWlomr, SUNWlomu & SUNWlomm packages loaded & patched.

  • Sun StorEdge 3510

    Dears,
    Good day,
I need your support to guide me to configure Sun StorEdge 3510. I have 24 Disks and single controller. I is connected to one host. I want to configure it with the most biggest storage. I want to implement RAID 5 on 11 disks on the first enclosure and the same to the second enclosure with two disks spare each one in the same enclosure.
Can you guide me throw this?
    Thanks a lot.

Wow, it took me about 5 hours to set mine up from scratch and I'm a pretty strong storage guy. Here's an overview of what I did. Most of the info is in the 3510 documentation.
Step 1 is connectivity. Get your host to see the 3510 (FC).
Step 2 - use the cli utilities to setup the IP address on the controller (in-band).
Step 3 - ssh in, setup the RAID and presentation of the luns
Step 4 - rescan on the hosts to see the new luns

The L280 (or HP SureStore Autoloader 718) contains a DLT7000 drive. There is no reason why the generic SCSI tape driver doesn't support these drives.
If you're asking for software to control the autoloader, a similar software like Veritas NetBackup is required. Veritas supplies a replacement driver.
Now I see why your L280 doesn't work with your HP server. The L280 requires a HVD (High Voltage Differential) SCSI controller. The standard SCSI interface is SE (Single Ended) or LVD (Low Voltage Differential). Neither SE nor LVD are compatible with HVD. You won't see the device and can even damage the device and/or the controller.
Get a HVD SCSI controller (Symbios SYM22802, Part-No 375-0006) or Adaptec AHA-2944UW (not AHA-2940UW which is SE!!).
The Sun labeled HP Autoloaders (StorEdge L9, L280) use HVD SCSI while the original ones (SureStore 1/9, 718) use LVD or SE SCSI.

  • Veritas Volume manager 4.0 with Sun StorEdge 3310 D

I am running into a problem. The vxconfigd deamon always dump core when rebooting.
    Our environment is listed below.
    OS environemt.
         SunOS server1 5.8 Generic_117350-43 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240
    Software installed.
         Sun Cluster 3.0
         Veritas Volume Manager 4.0 MP2.
    Disk Array associated.
         Sun StorEdge 3310 D.
I looked up veritas.com and find Array Support Library (ASL) for Sun StorEdge 3xxx Series is recommended. But I didn't find this library is running on this server.
Please refer to this following link
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/277923
As our system is one of critical systems and I'd like to confirm that I can follow up this procedure without doing harm things to our system.
    Jeff

    No problem Jeff :)
I took a look at the Veritas doc and you're right it does seem to cover everthing.
Has the vxconfigd core dumped since the start? ie from the moment it was installed?
I have installed VXVM 4.0 with Solaris 8 but without the ASL and this worked ok, I know that's not much help to you but I am not sure the ASL will help. Mind you I have not installed it with Sun Cluster 3.0.

    Hi Surajsid
Do you still have a support contract for this Library ? If it's still showing the same issues after power cycling the drive I would log a call with Orcale/Sun.
Have you changed anything in your backup environment lately ?

  • Multi-initated LUNS on Sun StorEdge 3310

I recently received two Sun V20Zs and a StorEdge 3310, and I am asked to cluster these two machines with the 3310 as shared storage. 3310 came with two raid controllers.
My question is, could I create multi-initiaged LUNs and have these LUNs mapped by the V20Z. Reason behind having the multi-imitated LUNs is it will facilitate fail-over in case a one of the V20Z are unavailable.
V20Zs are running Fedora Core 3.
    Thanks for your help.

A good output that would give you a hint of a problem is iostat -En
This output reports anykind of errors to a particular disk since the last reboot. If you are seeing high error numbers, then you can move onto running a file system check - fsck - on the drive.
If you have anykind of RAID setup, check to see if any issues are being reported. Depending on what you are using to manage the RAID - Veritas Volume Manager or Solaris Disk Suite - they will most certainly tell you if there is an issue. A vxprint for Veritas and a metastat for DiskSuite will show you what you have setup and if there are any recognized disk issues.

  • Two servers with redundant connections for Sun StorEdge 3320 SCSI arrays

    Hello All,
I read in the "Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Installation, Operation and Service Manual" that it's possible to setup "two servers with redundant connections" but I never see a detailed schema to do this. I read also the "Best Pratices Guide" but this case is not mentioned. Is it really possible ?
My objective is to split a Sun StoreEdge 3320 SCSI array between two hosts with dual redundant scsi connection.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
    Francois.

At first this sounded easy, but looking at the parts listing for the 3320 seems to indicate otherwise. They're listing different part numbers for the chassis and midplane...
371-0105 chassis & midplane for JBOD
371-0106 chassis & midplane for RAID array
There are also different part numbers for the I/O boards....
    370-7655 RAID SCSI I/O module
    370-7713 JBOD SCSI I/O module
I can see what the difference is between the I/O modules, but am unsure of what differences if any are in the chassis and midplane. Seems like there's more involved here than what it would be worth to try and make it work. Perhaps the cost of a second HBA would be the lesser of two evils..........
