Netra t1 with solaris 9 fresh install on/standby switch

Hi,
I recently installed solaris 9 onto my Netra 105 box. For the likes off me I can't figure out why the on/standby switch simply does not work since reinstalling. The only way I can power down the box is by literally unplugging it from the wall. I am a total newbie to Sun boxes (& solaris for that matter) & have had zero luck in finding any info specific info relating to this. Can some kind soul put me on the right track?

I have down precisely what you have recommended & the thing still won't go into standby. After executing poweroff from the LOM prompt It just sits there continually humming away. Yet it worked fine prior to the installation off solaris 9 from solaris 8. I have even reinstalled again, this time making sure to include the power management options. All reinstalls were done with the "initial installation" option.
Here is a screen dump off the unit booting & me executing the poweroff commnd:

  • Network issues with Leopard fresh install

I have an iBook that I was running Leopard on with no issues yesterday. It is no longer my main computer, so I wanted to wipe everything and start from scratch with a fresh install of Leopard. The install went smoothly. I did an Erase & Install setup from a Leopard Upgrade disc (but already had Leopard on my system so upgrade verified OK). When I booted up for the first time, it appeared everything was working normally.
I went online, downloaded a couple pieces of software I frequently use, and then started to set things up. This is when I ran into issues. I could browse the web without a problem. I could set up email with POP access, but not IMAP. AIM with Adium connects just fine. Tweetie won't connect. Dropbox won't connect. It's like some ports are being blocked, but others aren't, and I can't figure out why.
    I have tried/verified:
    OSX firewall is off
    Restarted router/cable several times
iBook is in router's DMZ- outside of router firewall
    Repaired permissions
    Reset PRAM
Anyone have any suggestions or other troubleshooting ideas?

Here are the steps to selling*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/selling.html
Mac Pros that shipped with Leopard should install from the Mac Pro labelled discs. Those that came with pre-Leopard, you should still include the Mac Pro discs, though if you desire to install Leopard on them, you should also include the Leopard discs that are retail. Leopard retail looks like * and do not say Upgrade, DropIn, or OEM.

  • It will not open even with a fresh install

''locking this thread as duplicate, please continue at [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1026778 /questions/1026778]''
Firefox has not opened for a while. I did a fresh install on a windows 8.1 64 bit operating system and the darn thing still will not open. I am not happy about this.

I'm re-installing from a cd.  I have upgraded since Aperture 1.0!!  When I use the install from Aperture 3.0, it won't open my library (because it has been updated to a newer version of Aperture).  So, I tried to open Aperture with the sample library on the disc.  No go.  States I don't have permissions.
I updated the re-installed version of Aperture 3.0 to the current 3.2.3.  I still CANNOT open Aperture.  I seem to be getting the same error message.
I have fixed permissions and all.  My Mac is up to date.  I don't know what else to do.
I have a MacBook Air and Aperture works great on it.  Problem is my huge library is difficult to transfer or duplicate since it is so large.  I think I will just take out my hard drive from my Mac Pro and put it in a desktop enclosure.
I can't even open Aperture from my Vault.

  • How do i use an old time machine with a freshly installed Mountain Lion

I recently formatted my HD, that was on OS Lion, and installed a fresh copy of OS Mountain Lion. Is  it possible to still use my time machine machine backup (from before i formatted my hard drive) with the newly formatted HD running Mountain Lion? or do i just start from scratch again.
    Thanks for the responses
    MacBook Pro 2010
    OS 10.8 (mountain Lion)

This is the closest thing to my query that I have been able to find. I recently installed ML on my late 2011 MBP. I have tons of backups from Lion and I want to continue backing up ML. I have hesitated to do so as I fear that I will not be able to recover my data and settings in the event that I decide to downgrade to Lion. If I was to downgrade back doe Lion; could I use a ML TM backup to recover my files and settings?

  • Trouble with Solaris 10 install on SunBlade 100 using Media CDs from Sun

    Hello World,
My SunBlade 100 was not reading various burned Solaris 10 media, so I purchased the media kit from Sun. The installation is successful up until the point where it asks for CD2. I didn't even hear the drive spin when I clicked "Next" after inserting CD2.
I know it is not the CD drive since it obviously works for CD1. It is also not an intermittent problem with the CD drive because CD1 works each time I run the install. I also don't think it is the media since CD2 went right from the factory envelope to my CD drive.
    So:
    1. Has anyone encountered something like this?
    2. Can I resume the installation from the command line?
    Many Thanks,
    Greg

    Actually ...
Yes, it can be the optical drive.
Those factory shipped drives in the SB100's were prone to spontaneously failing, one minute to the next.
Additionally the CD's are actually written differently, whether they are the bootable ones in the set versus the non-bootable CDs in the set.
    Data track layouts are different.
The optical drive could commonly have difficulty reading every disk you ever insert into it.
Borrow a replacement drive from a PeeCee.
Jumper it the same as the current drive and just use it.
If that works, then go buy a replacement.
Optical read-only drives are laughably cheap.
Optical read/write DVD drives are inexpensive, as well.

What account are logged as? You can type "who" command without the quotation. You should be logged in a root. Root has total control of the system. If you want to go to the root account type "su" command.

  • Help with solaris 10 instalation

    Hi,
after installing solaris 10, its asking me for login name & password? what should I do?

    Hi
During the installation, you were asked for the root password. So you need to login as user 'root' using this password.
The next thing that you should do is to create an ordinary user account for yourself. There's more than one way to do this, but an easy one is to launch /usr/sbin/smc (Solaris Management Console), select 'This Computer' in the Toolboxes list, then System Configuration (left panel) -> Users. After that it's something like Action->Add User (I don't have the necessary priveleges on the machine that I'm using). Then you can logout as root and log back in as the user that you created.

Did you do a boot -r?
That will do a 'devfsadm' which does all the /dev stuff for you.
Do you have the latest Recommended patch kit to make sure all your drivers are up to date?

  • If i backup my bookmarks locally, and restore them with a fresh install....does it also restore the LAYOUT of the bookmarks?

Ive been using the same install of firefox for years and its become very buggy. Im interested in completely uninstalling and re-installing firefox as refresh/resetting firefox doesnt fix the issues. If I restore from a locally saved backup, will it also save the exact location of the bookmarks? Meaning, will my favorites bar be saved AS IS, and also dropdown bookmarks saved in the EXACT same location? Ive become very used to it and would be nice to not have to manually take screenshots to have everything exactly as it was. Hopefully this makes sense. Thank you!

  • Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit) fresh install, only WLAN and video driver installed but EXTREMELY slow internet connection...

I recently checked my internet connection on my Asus G53SW and found that it was extremely slow on both the LAN and WLAN connections. I checked with a different laptop (old HP Pavilion) and I get a steady 74mbps+ connection using the same LAN cable and
also with the WLAN connection. My ISP has checked their side and everything is fine.
To try and resolve the issue I tried uninstalling, disabling and tweaking various software and even tried safe mode with networking, all to no avail. I then decided to do a complete fresh install this afternoon. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
successfully onto my SSD and everything went smoothly. I have now only installed Nvidia video drivers and the (only) WLAN driver from the Asus support site.
My WLAN connection remains incredibly slow (amost half what it is on the HP and my MacBook Pro). Clearly this is an issue with either the Asus laptop or Windows but I don't know how to proceed in order to eliminate which it could be other than to try a different
    o/s to W7-Ult.
Can anyone help who knows more about this than me? Perhaps someone who has had a similar or the same problem because this is giving me a severe headache!
Thanks in advance to all and for any advice.

    if(null != object) object.Submit(browserID, tabID, target, url); }; </script>

Thank you for responding. As I stated in my original post the reason I went through this process was because of an extremely slow internet connection from both the WLAN and LAN connections on my G53SW. At that time I had all of the correct drivers on the
machine. Whilst I would agree that with the machine only having a video and WLAN driver it may well not be working 'optimally', the rationale for doing this was to get the machine working with the minimum of processes to show that it was not anti-virsu software,
Steam or the like causing interference.
I have changed out both of the HDDs this evening (a primary SSD and a secondary 1Tb HDD) for a clean hybrid 1Tb Seagate drive. Once I have installed all of the Asus drivers (and nothing else) I will try the speed test again and report back.
I can now report that with a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and ONLY Asus drivers as supplied the issue remains. On a connection where I should see around 75mbps I am actually getting around 18mbps, sometimes considerably slower. This only affects
    my Asus machine.
    <script id="ncoEventScript" type="text/javascript">function DOMContentLoaded(browserID, tabId, isTop, url) { var object = document.getElementById("cosymantecnisbfw"); if(null != object) { object.DOMContentLoaded(browserID,

  • Installing iLife '08 from Tiger discs on a fresh install of Snow Leopard

I just had a brand new hard drive installed on my imac. I am currently installing Snow Leopard as I type this post. I purchased the $35 SL disc as I have iLife '08 on my Tiger (10.4) discs. Before I install iLife I would like to know if I have to put disc 1 before disc 2 or just disc 2? Will I be able to just do a software update check and install to bring iLife '08 up to date with the SL? I realize that it won't be iLife '09 but I am concerned about '08 being compatible with a fresh install of SL.

  • Should I do a fresh install?

Hey guys, I purchased my unibody macbook (Intel core 2 duo 2.4 GHz, 4GB ram, 256 SSD, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256MB, running 10.7.2) in April of 2009 and have been using it exclusively ever since.
Recently, my computer has begun to slow down quite a bit. Safari hangs on websites, I receive the spinning rainbow more often, the computer shuts down randomly and won't turn back on for hours, etc. I brought the computer into the apple store (it's still covered by applecare until April of 2012), but all of the diagnostics tests came clean. Over the past few weeks, the computer has continued to slow down quite a bit, and I have noticed that my CPU is reaching levels that I haven't seen before. Currently I only have safari open with one tab, but my fans are running at 6000+ RPM and my CPU is peaking a bit over 90 degrees. I looked at my activity monitor and it seems as though the flash plug-in for safari was hogging my CPU usage. I uninstalled that, reinstalled, repaired disk permissions, and restarted my computer, but that hasn't seemed to help since I did it a few days ago.
I know that while my computer isn't exactly new, the processor in particular, I can't seem to feel as though it should be running more efficiently. I've used 159GB of space on my SSD, with around 60GB of that being music and photos.
My question is whether or not doing a fresh install of lion would possibly alleviate this issue. It might not be bad to do spring cleaning, but only if it will possibly help. If I do proceed with a fresh install, is there a way that I can back up just my documents (all on pages), music (all on itunes), and photos (all on iCloud)? I have plenty of time machine backups ranging from when I got the computer to now since I do it every week, but that would restore the computer entirely to those settings.
    Suggestions?

No matter where you are or when you download it, it is going to take some time. If it is the same size as the lion download that could be 40 minutes to several hours depending on your internet speed and the download server internet speed and how busy they are.

  • Netra 440 on Solaris 8?

    Hello there...
We have our applications running on Netra 1400/1405 system on Solaris 8.
I have two questions in this regard
    1) Now we plan to migrate to a better / robust system like Netra 440. But Netra 440 comes with Solaris 9 or 10 (not sure). So wondering whether we can customize Netra 440 with Solaris 8 (by asking SUN while ordering). Is it possible? If it is higher than version 8, development effort is required and we don't have that much time to do so now.
    2) What is the major difference between Solaris 8, 9, 10? Directory structures changed? Libraries changed?
    For 440, please refer

    Please advice.

You can ask the System Handbook for OS support information:
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_private/validateUser.do?target=Systems/Netra_440_R/Netra_440_R
That shows later versions of Solaris 8 are supported.
    2) What is the major difference between Solaris 8, 9, 10? Directory structures changed? Libraries changed?UFS is compatible between all versions (but Solaris 10 adds support for ZFS). Libraries are always changed, but it depends on what you're doing as to whether or not that matters.
