Netscape 7.0.2 Error

Has anyone encountered an error where Netscape won't start up? It says it has unexpectedly quit and error type 2. We tried reinstalling it and restarting neither worked. Also none of the other computers are experiencing this problem. However, another office I talked to this morning is having this issue on two of their macs. We also used IE to make sure that we have internet connection. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated as I really don't want to have to pay $20 for support from Netscape and they don't have anything in their forums.
Thanks

You may want to try Mozilla 1.3.1, a special build from WaMCom.org
http://www.wamcom.org/
I believe the Netscape 7 code base is version 1.0.1 of Mozilla. So the WaMCom Mozilla is a few generations newer than the last Netscape that worked on Mac OS 9. The look and feel is almost identical between Mozilla and Netscape, so there will no learning curve.

  • error-page working in netscape but not in explorer

    Hi!
    I've a problem using I Explorer. I configured in my web.xml an error-
    page to manager errors of code 403, and it wasn't working, I keep
    getting an error from the browser and not the error page I
    specified... I thought it's was something about my app... but when I
    tested it with Netscape I got my error page ok.
    Does somebody knows why this happens in Explorer... how can I fix it.
    Thanks a lot!
    Abigail Garca

    Internet Explorer does that to save you from having to know what "Error 403" means. But you can turn that off: select menu Tools, option Internet Options. Select the "Advanced" tab, scroll down until you see "Show friendly HTTP error messages". Uncheck that and click OK.
    (That works in my IE 5.5; other versions may differ.)

    Does any one have solution for this? I'm using BO XI 3.1

    Hi Peter,
    try this solution oryginally posted by Craig Brandt in another topic.
    Firstly make sure you have no old Java installs or 'add ons' lingering about on your system, check in programs and features (assuming your using windows 7) and uninstall Java completely. Check the add ons in IE and show: 'All add ons' - remove manually if required. Do a clean up of the computers temp files and cache. I used a program called ccleaner. Also check c:\users\<username>\app data\locallow\ and delete the 'Sun' folder. Then reboot machine.
    - Install latest Java 1.7.0_51
    - Go to Java control panel in windows control panel
    - add the exception for your BOBJ server e.g. http://<SERVER>:8080
    - click continue
    - go to the advanced tab
    - scroll down and tick 'use TLS 1.2'
    - apply or OK to exit java control panel
    - open 'Internet Options'
    - go to the 'advanced' tab
    - scroll down and tick 'use TLS 1.2'
    - OK everything and close any IE windows
    Now try again, you will need to enable the 'add on' when prompted on opening IE for the first time.
    Also when accessing the BI Web I for the first time, I placed a tick in the 'do not show this again for apps from this publisher'
    Work for me!

    _checkLoad is contained in the MarlinCore.js file.  That file should be in cabo/jslib/ directory.
    Two things strike me odd about the generated HTML code with relation to JavaScript. First, I expect to see JavaScript source files declared in the head portion. Second, the source files is declared after the onload call is made to the _checkLoad function.
    The third thing that I can see possibly causing the error is that the MarlinCore.js file is not visible to the server and therefore not delivered to the browser. But I am not certain where to find the files used by the embedded OC4J server.
    Is this a bug in 9.0.3?
    The uix files follow. All three framed pages (topFrame.uix, centerFrame.uix and bottomFrame.uix) display nicely in the uix preview and run nicely in the embedded OC4J.

    Your assistance is appreciated,
    Bill

    Did you create the files with JDev 903 preview or JDEV 902? If you created with JDEV 902 and upgraded your project to
    903 you need to delete all the files in the cabo directory in your public_html directory. That should get rid of your
    javascript errors.

  • Java 1.4.2 Plugin doesn't work on Netscape 7.1 on Linux

    Hi,
    When I run the Java 1.4.2 plugin on Red Hat Linux 7.3, I get the following error when Netscape starts up:
    INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: No manager for initializing factory?
    System error?:: Success
    After that Netscape just quits. If I remove libjavaplugin_oji.so, then Netscape starts fine but doesn't have Java. Netscape 7.1 doesn't work with Java 1.4.1_03 on Linux either.
    Netscape 7.02 does work with both versions of the Java plugin on Linux. Has anyone gotten Netscape 7.1 running with Java? Does anyone have suggestions?

  • Unknow error in file upload:

    Hi,
    I am doing a file upload using a multi part form page and a servlet. I am also doing file size validation and redirecting the user to the same page with error message if size is more than 20 KBs.This is potentially to avoid users from trying to upload huge files and flood the system.
    But if the upload file size is more that 30 KBs, it looks like the server(weblogic 5.1) does something crazy.
    1) Netscape throws the following error message "Connection Reset By Peer".
    2) IE throws "Page cannot be displayed".
    The servlet size is 7 KBs.Is this something to do with the size or stream being forwarded back to the browser and the server not able to handle this?
    Any thoughts!

    get the book, "java for the web with servlets, jsp, and ejB: a developer's buide to j2ee solutions written by Budi Kurniawan which has one chapter specifically dedicated to doing file upload and download.

  • Funny problem with Netscape

    I am having an applet. When I removed all class files and place JAR file, Netscape started giving problem.
    Please note following
    1)On local intranet both IE / Netscape applet is running properly. (With Jar and with classfiles.)
    For LIVE :
    2)If I try to connect through direct dial-up connection to Live server, again both IE / Netscape are ok (With Jar and with classfiles.)
    3)If I connect through local intranet to LIVE server (my computer is behind the firewall) and put the class files then also for both IE / Netscape it is ok
    4)If I connect through local intranet to LIVE server (my computer is behind the firewall) AND WHEN I REMOVE ALL CLASS FILES AND REPLACE WITH JAR FILE, IE is still ok, Netscape is giving following error :
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at java.lang.StringBuffer.append(Compiled Code)
    * at netscape.applet.DerivedAppletFrame$LoadAppletEvent.dispatch(Compiled Code)
    at java.awt.EventDispatchThread$EventPump.dispatchEvents(Compiled Code)
    at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(Compiled Code)
    at netscape.applet.DerivedAppletFrame$AppletEventDispatchThread.run(Compiled Code)
    It is very obvious, problem is because of Firewall and Netscape security, but how to get around this problem ?
    manisha

    Hi,
    I don't know whether it is exactly a same problem or not, but, my applet had received the same error message at start time . What I did in previous revision is System.getProperty("user.dir") as applet's instance variable.
    class myApplet extends JApplet {
    private String currDir = System.getProperty("user.dir");
    //Other code goes here......
    Since my applet does some local file access, security code is already there in init(), so I moved getProperty() to the inside of the init(), like:
    class myApplet extends JApplet {
    private String currDir = null;
    public void init() {
    //Security permissions are here
    currDir = System.getProperty("user.dir");
    //Other codes goed here...
    Then problem gone.
    Because Netscape message does not indicate that this is a security related problem nor, problem is related to applet initialization, so I really think finding resolution is very much difficult.
    I believe other people who have this problem may have some security-related code in their applet...
    Worse, this problem does not happen in Internet Explorer (MSVM).
    If getting "user.dir" at initialization of the applet is a security violation, those VMs should report it so, I think...
    Anyway, this is my case. I hope this information will make any sense in your case as well.
    Regards,
    M.H.

    at java.lang.Integer.parseInt(Integer.java:397)
    // in my request page
    int quantity = Integer.parseInt(request.getParameter("quantity"));
    double price = Double.parseDouble(request.getParameter("price"));

    It appears that the parameter "quantity" is null. There could be several reasons for this, but most likely if it's working in IE and not Netscape, the problem is going to reside in the document containing that form. Something could be causing the quantity parameter to not be set properly.
    But, in any situation, when passing a value into Integer.parseInt() (or any other method) when you aren't sure what the value is going to be, then you should always check the data first. Check for null, and check for correct data (ie. no letters when using parseInt()) when appropriate.

  • Problem opening servlet generated PDF in browser

    This is the code i use to show the PDF in a browser
    ByteArrayOutputStream outStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    res.setContentType("application/pdf");
    res.setHeader("Content-Disposition","inline;Filename= " + file.getName());
    ServletOutputStream sos = res.getOutputStream();
                   outStream.writeTo(sos);
                   sos.flush();
                   outStream.close();
                   sos.close();
    In Netscape i get an error saying the filename does not start with %PDF and in IE the page just shows up blank. from the blank pagewhen i use the back button and then hit the forward button the pdf will show up in IE.
    I also tries using fileOuput stream instead of servletoutputstream
         FileOutputStream fout = new FileOutputStream( file );
                   outStream.writeTo(fout);
                   fout.close() ;
                   outStream.close() ;
    In this case IE does nothing but it works on netscape or mozilla
    This is running on websphere 5.0 , apache webserver on linux env
    But i need to get this worked on IE any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in Advance

  • Problem in displaying html page in JEditorPane....

    Hi All,
    i was trying to display a html page in a JEditorPane. i was able to do that when i'm displaying a html page from a local machine.. But when i try to get the page from some website, it giving me
    "exception access denied (java.net.SocketPermission www.java.sun.com resolve)"
    exception. But if i run the same code thru JBuilder, its working. But thru appletviewer or thru IE or Netscape its throwing the error.. Any suggestion or help is highly appreciated....
    Thanks
    Ragu

    Java Applets are very secure, what is good. Java applets are extremely secure
    what is bad. So Applet cannot open TCP connection to any host rather than its
    home host. So you cannot get the resources from any other server (what is common to
    HTTP).
    In JBuilder iit works cause JBuilder is used for development and security in deevelopment
    is not an issue. But it confuses then you see.

  • Upgrading online from v10.2 to 10.4 problems...

    I upgraded online from 10.2 to 10.4 but had been advised of the potential problems..
    Since the upgrade which I did online (therefore no disk), I have had good days and bad, and the difference is confusing, i.e. the Mac decides what mood it is in - One day smooth sailing, the others, the mac can not even connect to www using safari/netscape etc.
    The errors that appear on the screen every time I turn on since the upgrade are:
    Faxstf toolbox
    "could not load login file"
    can't make every item of 'class cfol'
    "library: Applications
    Support: SmithMicro:faxsefX:startup"
    of application "finder" info type
    String. -1700
    Norton AntiVirus Error
    Norton AntiVirus Auto Protect could not continue.
    Please reinstall NAV and restart.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated! This note being sent from a PC.

    Thanks for the comment. I've got full use of Tiger having done the upgrade and someone suggested I re-load the 10.4.4 combo which I have just done (started at 17:14 and completed at 19:19 - not bad!)
    The only errors I get now are:
    1. error - could not load login file
    2. The application Diagnostic quit unexpectedly
    3. Norton virus error (which I know about)
    Everything else seems to be in order from the web download and upgrade..
