Netscape Navigator

I have a LC 580 running Mac OS 7.6.1. It installed Netscape Navigator as part of the Mac OS 7.6.1 installation routine. Whenever I try to launch Netscape Navigator it unexpected quits with a error of Type 2. Cyberdog 2.0 almost works too but I keep getting Open Transport errors related to networking & memory. What do I need to do to get my LC 580 online? Should I consider downloading a newer version of Netscape Navigator? I have a Sonic Systems comm slot ethernet card installed & the LC 580 has 52 MB of RAM. I had to extract the comm slot ethernet driver from the Mac OS 7.6 Install Tome to even get this far by using TomeViewer. I also found a Apple Knowledge Base article related to the Netscape Navigator issue but none of the solutions in the article worked for me.

Are there any advantages to upgrading Netscape Navigator to 4.08? Does the latest version of NCSA Mosaic including NCSA Mosaic Beta 4 work correctly with Open Transport 1.1.2? I read in NCSA Mosaic's User Guide that it requires MacTCP but am wondering if that document is outdated & in need of updating anyway. How do I get Cyberdog to work reliably on 68030/68040 Macs? It runs after I install OpenDoc 1.2.1 & Cyberdog 2.0 itself. The main problem is I keep getting networking related errors about Open Transport malfunctioning somehow whenever I try to open the links to Apple's site from Cyberdog's Notebook. Is there a way to increase the memory allocated to the Open Transport extensions to prevent this? I read about the Netscape Defrost extension in the book Sad Mac, Bombs & Other Disasters And What to do about Them & was wondering how well it actually works or if it helps at all.

Display Arabic Character in NetScape Navigator

Hi
I am using Oracle Forms & Reports 10g R2. I call a report through a button in that report there are English and Arabic Character. When i see report in Netscape Navigator 9 English character show fine but Arabic Character does not showing properly.
If I check this report inside report builder Arabic Character show fine.
I also try by setting 'Character Encoding' = (ARABIC WINDOWS 1256) in NetScape Navigator 9, but no luck.
Please help me how to solve this issue.

Configuration of Netscape Navigator for Oracle Forms on Netscape 8.12 Ver.

I have the experience of confiugring the Internet Explorer for Oracle Forms Web-deployment. But I just want to know what are all the changes are required to configure the Netscape Navigator for Oracle Forms Web Deployment. I came to know that it needs some changes in .dlls. Please advice me any techincal refereneces in this regard.

I've a similar configuration: Sun Sparc Solaris 8, Forms 6i Patch 10 and Apache server which comes with Oracle 9i server.
Forms 6i is on his own Oracle home. I have Forms Listener Servlet working.
Take a look in ../Apache/Jserv/etc/jserv.conf Make sure ApJServMount /servlets /root and ApJServMount /servlet /root
are defined. If you want I could mail you my conf-files. My email-address is [email protected]

Configuration of Listener Servlet with patch 8 on Sun SPARC Solaris
I am trying to install and configure Forms6i Application Server for Sun SPARC Solaris 8 with Patch8.
I am installing application server in /home/oracle/home9iAS, and have set up the development environment in /home/oracle/forms6i.
1) First i install Forms Server and Reports Server, for that i need to define following env variables
$ORACLE_HOME is /home/oracle/forms6i
$ORACLE_BASE is /home/oracle
i am defining them in .profile file in oracle account.
2) Apply Patch 8
3) Install Application Server with Minimal Installation
4) Configure Forms Listener Servlet using http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/p8listenerservlet.pdf pdf file, i am following it to the letter.
When i try to access forms listener server using http://hostname:port/servlet/oracle.forms.servlet.ListenerServlet i get an error:
"Not Found
the requested URL /servlet/oracle.form.servlet.ListenerServlet was not found on this server."
What can be the reason?

Netscape Navigator or Explorer on 8330

A website that I use for work can only be accessed through Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. Can either of them be run on the Blackberry Curver 8330? If so, how can I get then on there?

Scroll down to browser identification, select Internet Explorer.
I haven't seen a Netscape option.

Netscape Navigator could not be started ?

I found this question from scooterbug on your system ...
"I have installed the Web Proxy Server 3 2004Q2 Update 6 sp5 for Windows (Win2000 Server OS). I then try to start the Netscape 7.0 Administration Server and get the following message : "NETSCAPE ADMINISTRATION SERVER Netscape Navigator could not be started. Try running Navigator manually , then restart this program." I start NN manually and try to start the Admin Server and get the same message. How do I resolve this issue?"

IE/ Netscape Navigator Usage

I need to watch a lecture for a class and when the page loads, it informs me that it needs Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer, Netscape Navigator 7.0 or newer or Internet Explorer 5.2.2 or newer for Mac. However the newest IE for Mac I can find is a 5.0.2 and Netscape Navigator crashes as soon as it loads (i downloaded version 9). Anyone have any experience with this or know some way around it? I was hoping to be able to finish this course using my new iMac however it's looking like I'll have to revert to my old Sony with Windows 7 unless I find a way around it!

Try to change your user agent to make the site think you are using one of the IE versions. At the worst the site won't work or draw a few things incorrectly.
If you are using Safari, open it's Preferences, Advanced. At the bottom is a checkbox for "Show Develop menu in menu bar". Check it and the Develop menu will appear in the menu bar. In the Develop menu you will see a User Agent menu item with a hierarchal menu that allows you to change the user agent to any one of the browser's listed. By doing this the sites you connect to will think you are using the browser you specified.
For Firefox there's add-ons to allow you to do the same thing. User Agent Switcher is one.
I'm pretty sure other browsers have user agent switching to, either built in as in safari or add ons (extensions) as with FF.

The only way to extend Navigator <5 is through plugins.

Cannot get slide show to come up in Netscape Navigator

My slide show works great in Safari and Firefox (Mac platform) but nothing shows up in Netscape Navigator. Any ideas?

I may have solved my problem. I was using an OLDER version of NN (7.2). When I downloaded the latest version (9.0b2) EVERYTHING WORKS! Hooray!

Applet runs in Netscape Navigator

I have a applet, when I run it on PC using IE, it is fine. but when I run it on Solaris using Navigator, it just can not be loaded.

It used to be that there was a different version of Java for each browser. This started because Java didn't have all the advaced features it does now and so different browsers would add new stuff to the language differently. Resently Sun Microsystems re-created Java and started forcing the Java enabled browsers to use their JRE. But IE stoped supporting Java, and only Netscape 6.0 or higher support Sun's JRE. This presents a problem for surffers because there are now 3 big different versions of Java that can be used, 2 of them are fading into the past though, but slowly.

Actually i am using JSObject call in my applet and trying to open a new indow when user select a particular option from my menu. Code hint is givin below.

I have oracle 8i, Developer 6 and OAS 4 installed with winNT on my pc. I can run my form when I press run form on web button. But can I use run that form with Navigator without installing web server. If not can I installed web server without web connection on my pc. if yes can anyone say me how.

Flash Player 9 works on Firefox 2 and Netscape Navigator 9, but NOT on Safari 3

After hours of uninstalls/reinstalls of the most recent
release of Flash Player, repairing of disk permissions, and a
number of other moves to fix Safari ... so Flash content would
play, I stumbled onto a semi-obvious fix. Safari's "Preferences..."
menu had been over looked. I did not go there and look under
Security > Web Content. There, I eventually looked and found
that "Enable plug-ins" was unchecked. With that simple preference
enabled, Flash media was again playing on Safari!. WS

I have the EXACT same problem. i cannot find a solution, this
is the first post ive read where someone has the exact same
problem. Mac powerbook g4, powerPC processor, OSX Tiger, Firefox.
Flash was working fine up until today for me.
Now movies give me the message;you must have adobe flash
player 9 installed'. when i try to install player it finishesthe
install then brings up Firefox Adobe page, which says additional
plugins are needed, when i click on the plugins install, it takes
me thru the install then says 'failed' with the option to install
manually, which takes me back to the original download page. i have
tried untinstalling, restarting, changing internet plug.
preferences.....anyone ...help????

Not all my bookmarks imported from Navigator(AOL Netscape) to Firefox

I just downloaded and installed Firefox 5.01. When I tried to import my bookmarks from Netscape Navigator (9.006) only a few would import.

Urgent Help Required !!!! For using Netscape to open Form on the Intranet

Hi ,
I am successfully able to open Form application in a seperate window using IE 5.0.
I would like to do the same with Netscape Navigator 4.7. The Navigator justshows a page which asks me to download the plugin and then even after I install the plugin it does the same thing over and over again.
Please help !!!!!
