how to install netscape java plugin? how to delete old plugins?
Why must we install this plugin?

If you use netscape 4.x and want to use e.g. swing classes or any other new class files that came with jdk/jre 1.2.x and 1.3.x, then you need to use the plugin (you also need to change the html page from where the user accesses your applet). Just keep in mind that if the user doesn't already have this plugin, it means he will have to download and install it (5-8MB I think).
The same goes for iexploder.

After installing the plug-in check in the Netscape browser Help(option)-->About Plug-in's whether 1.1 version is there or not. If it is there then I think it will support.

Netscape plugin failed communication to wls 5.10

We had an application stop responding to request. Both Netscape servers as well
as the 15 weblogic boxes were running. At some point in the day both netscape
servers restarted. Later in the day we noticed the weblogic servers stopped accepting
requests. We were able to deliver static content directly from the NetScape server
but could not access static page on weblogic thru the netscape plugin. The problem
was corrected by bringing down the weblogic boxes and restarting them. We were
not able to bring them down gracefully but had to stop the PID. Which was another
odd problem.
While the timing may be coincidental, it appears that when NetScape restarted,
communication between the plugin and the weblogic boxes stopped. Does anyone
know what happens to that connection when NetScape restarts. If this is the cause
of the problem we experienced, what can we do to minimize outage times in the
future?
Has anyone experienced something like this?????

Ok, I just had serious problems finding this expicitly stated in the docs. Other products
usually see backwards compatibility as an issue, running multiple versions in a relatively
complex environment is from my experience actually quite common.

or alternatively, if 5.1 plugin should work (also for sticky sessions)with a 6.1
deployment.

Netscape Plugin / Weblogic - response hangs

We just switched over to using the netscape nsapi plugin.with weblogic. At
some point in the chain from the appserver to the webserver to the browser,
the response is hanging, and the browser keeps trying to load the page even
though all the content is already there. The connection is staying open. We
tried the keep-alive in the .properties file but that didnt seem to work.
The delay is 30 seconds each time before the connection finally closes.
Anyone know about this? NES / WL5.1

Sun One (Netscape) Plugin: Losing HTTP Session Problem

Hi All,
We are having some trouble with HTTP sessions. Sometimes our browser will have a session cookie set but will be issued a new session cookie anyways. This seems to occur only one in every 10 attempts, and seems to occur more frequently on certain machines. When this occurs we lose all of the session data that we were previously using.
Our environment is as follows:
We have three load balanced Sun One Web Servers fronting 6 mananged 8.1 sp5 web logic instances. We've verified that multicast is working and that we've configured the plugin/application to have a unique cookie name already. We've also set the persistence type to 'replicated'
Only clue that we have so far comes from our plug-in logs. It seems to be complaining about connection pooling:

Check if your web app has the same cookie name (weblogic.xml) as defined in the obj.conf.

Netscape plugin, pathprepend in obj.conf

Environment - iPlanet 4.1, Weglogic 5.1 sp6 Issue - Is it possible to select the web root directory of iPlanet to be redirected to Weblogic root? Currently, the setting in iPlanet's obj.conf looks like this - Service method="(GET|HEAD|POST|PUT)" type="text/jsp" fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicHost="127.0.0.1" WebLogicPort="7001" PathPrepend="/acx"When executing on Weblogic it's as if the files are in the webroot, while in actuality, they're in webroot/acx. I also have the same problem. My problem is when the proxy is transferred to weblogic and even if I have the virtual mapping done on the iPlanet WS, the weblogic is looking for my data under the root of the weblogic server.

Java 1.4.2 Plugin doesn't work on Netscape 7.1 on Linux

Hi,
When I run the Java 1.4.2 plugin on Red Hat Linux 7.3, I get the following error when Netscape starts up:
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: No manager for initializing factory?
System error?:: Success
After that Netscape just quits. If I remove libjavaplugin_oji.so, then Netscape starts fine but doesn't have Java. Netscape 7.1 doesn't work with Java 1.4.1_03 on Linux either.
Netscape 7.02 does work with both versions of the Java plugin on Linux. Has anyone gotten Netscape 7.1 running with Java? Does anyone have suggestions?

It didn't work for me .... The applet started then netscape came back to the prompt with the following error. (System is Suse Linux 9.1 and Netscape is 7.2) Any Ideas??
I am also listing the sybolic link to the jre.

Sample plugins not working with Netscape 7 on Solaris 8.

I'm trying to build a scriptable plugin for deployment into Netscape 7
and Solaris 8.
I finally got mozilla 1.4.1 built under Solaris 8 and deployed the
plugin from modules/plugin/tools/sdk/samples/simple. By deployed I
mean that I copied the libnpsimple.so file to the netscape plugin
directory and copied the .xpt files to the netscape components
directory. I even removed the xpti.dat file from the netscape
components directory so that it will get regenerated when netscape 7
is started.
I started up netscape 7 and checked about plugins and I find the
simple plugin in the list of enabled plugins. So far, so good.
I open the test.html file in modules/plugin/tools/sdk/samples/simple
into the browser and click on the version button and I get an alert
box that displays "undefined". Also, if I reload the page netscape
crashes.
I also tried the scriptable sample plugin with essentially the same
result.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get a sample plugin to work with
Netscape 7 on Solaris 8.
Some help would be very much appreciated.

Netscape or Apache plugin for WebLogic

Hi,
The Netscape plugin for WebLogic is mentioned many time in on-line
documents for WebLogic servers. However, I can't find any information
with regard to how the plug-in is distributed, licensed. Could someone
please tell me if it is bundled in the server download? How do I install
this thing? Is there Apache plugin for Solaris platform?

Netscape 7.1 has java plugin problems, how to solve, part 2?

I have a Linux computer and in /usr/local/netscape/plugins,
I did
ln -s /home/xxx/j2sdk1.4.2_04/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so .
The netscape can starts, but my java applets were not able to be loaded,
and under Help->About Plug-ins, there is nothing indicating a java plug-ins.
So Please help. Thank you.

Java Plugin 1.3.1 on RedHat Linux 7.1

I downloaded and installed the Java SDK 1.3.1 for linux.
When I try to view an applet written in Netscape I get the following error message on the bottom left corner of the browser window:
ClassdefError javax.japplet not found.
However, I can see the applet in the appletviewer.
In order to install the plugin I did the following:
I removed the old plugin:
rm -fr $Home/.netscape/.java
rm $Home/.netscape/plugin/javaplugin.so
Then, to install the plugin I set the netscape environment variable :
export NPX_PLUGIN_Path = /usr/java/jdk1.3.1/jre/bin/plugin/ns4/javaplugin.so
How can I tell whether the netscape 4.7 browser is using this plugin??
Could someone please tell me what is causing the error?? Please be very specific, I am new to RH Linux.

Firefox 3.6.6 is not working in Facebook games links. I've checked adobe version and updates, and disabled hang protection, also installed windows flashplayer 10 plugin content debugger.

I am having trouble with firefox in facebook games links. Games do not load. Adobe flashplayer is the right version and is the latest for firefox. I have firefox 3.6.6. I have windows xp service pack 3 home edition. 2100 Mhz AMD processor, 512 MB memory, 2 GB virtual memory. adobe version is 10,0,42,34 I have adobe flashplayer 10 active x, adobe flashplayer 10 plugin, adobe reader 9.3, shockwave flash 10.1.53.64 with shockwave director 6.0.0.55 macromedia shockwave for director netscape plugin version 6.0, and shockwave director 11.0.3.470 adobe shockwave for director netscape plug-in, version 11.0. I have had problems with Adobe DLM version 1.6.2.63 as it is not compatable with firefox 3.6.6.

Turns out that although libjavaplugin_oji.so is still shipped with Java, it's only there to support older browsers.
With Firefox 3.6 and later, the link in plugins should instead point to jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so

Firefox "stops responding messages" frequently + not sure what the plugins listed under updated ones as "unknown plugin" and " ?research "mean

hi there...
1) firefox has been giving me problems for several months where it just stops responding, meaning I click on one of the 5 tabs open then it gives me msg "firefox not responding", also happens when I am working with xsitepro website builder development software stops me from moving around the xsitepro program and firefox again says firefox not responding
Note: However, when firefox gives me "not responding msg" it responds after a few minutes and gives me access the tab i clicked on but then happens again when i try to click on another tab
2) went to a page that firefox listed plugins http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ and there are several plugins listed that I do not know what it means below the ones it says it is updated, those are listed as " unknown plugin and ?research "
Not sure what does this mean as far as those plugins that are listed unknown and research. I did a search to see if I could find those plugins under addons but did not see them listed so are these plugins being used and installed on my firefox browswer and if so why are they hidden if they are installed or are they not installed at all

You're not the first person to report that the sessionstore.js or recovery.js file stopped updating with new activity. However, it's rare enough that I can't recall whether we have gotten to the bottom of it in a previous thread. I'll see whether I can search it up.
Meanwhile, someone might be able to come up with a way to watch for problems and extract some debug information, but I'm not personally familiar with such tools.

Linux, Netscape 7.01 and java plug-in how to install?

I have J2SE v 1.4.1_01 SDK installed in /usr/java/ directory. Some days ago I installed Netscape 7.0.1 on my RedHat 8.0 Linux. Now if I try to run my simple html page which calls simple java applet, I get message to install proper plug-in. "OK" button directs me to SUN's page where I can download J2SE. But I have one.
I still don't know how to install plug-in. Trying to create symbolic link:
ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so
in /root/.netscape/plugins and /root/.netscape6/plugins does not resolve the problem. As You see I work as root.
My Mozilla 1.3a browser works fine. It has java plug-in installed.
I saw Netscape uses /root/.mozilla directory for storing some information rather then /root/.netscape.

Unfortunately, this not resolved the problem.
More info about configuration and my activity:
I start Netscape by clicking on Netscape icon on my gnome desktop.
The icon has its file in /root/.gnome-desktop directory. File name is Netscape 7.01.desktop (like title under the icon). Line to launch executable has following contents:
Exec=/usr/local/netscape/netscape
I changed it to:
Exec=/usr/local/netscape/set_plugin_start_netscape.sh
and wrote set_plugin_start_netscape.sh file.
File /usr/local/netscape/set_plugin_start_netscape.sh has the following contents:
NPX_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610
set |grep NPX > /root/diag.log
/usr/local/netscape/netscape
Second line is used for diagnostic purpose.
I closed all Netscape windows.
After launch of the icon /root/diag.log file is created and looks as follows:
NPX_PLUGIN_PATH=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/plugin/i386/ns610
If I start my html file (which calls java applet), Netscape still displays message:
This page contains information of a type (application/x-java-vm) that can
only be viewed with the appropriatePlug-in.
Clisk OK to download Plugin.
