Netware 6.5 CIFS - connecting MAX OSX

Question

I'm trying connect a MAC OSX machine to Netware 6.5 SP8 Server
I've created a folder called 'cifs' and setup cifs using NPS
The Mac can see the cifs item but even though I've called it 'cifs' it sees
'Cifs'
and then complains 'The alias Cifs could not be opened, because the
origional item cannot be found'
offering to fix or delete the alias - neither works
WORKGROUP
Virtual servername is CIFS - both AFP & CIFS are enabled
share name 'cifsvol'
any ideas?

Which version of Mac OS X are you using?
How are you trying to connect from the Mac? Via the Finder (cmd+K) or in
Terminal?
So virtual server name is CIFS, what is actual NetWare server name? I ask
because virtual server name is usually NetWare server name with "-W"
appended.
How did you create the folder "cifs" on volume shared as "cifsvol"? Perhaps
from a Windows workstation?
