Netware 6.5 + dos client
LS.
Situation is this. A client had a HD crash on his Novell 5.1 server. I
retrieved the data (restore backup) and placed this on a Netware 6.5 (sp3)
server. This server was already configured only with TCIP/IP protocol.
Now the dos clienst connect to the old server with ipx + netx.exe, now this
doesn't work to make connection to the netware 6.5 server.
I'm a little bit rusty on this.
how can I manully enable the spx protocol (frametype 802.3) on the server. I
cannot remember the syntax.
DIrk
Thanks, will check this. If there are entries in autoexec.ncf, is it still
posible to use the inetcfg?
(also, it mandatory to use 802.3 for netx?)

Can't Login to Netware 4 server using Client 3.4
Hi,
I have a small network with a dedicated server and two workstations
connected using a linksys switch. The dedicated server is running
netware 4.x (an old character based netware system). Both workstations
have Windows 98 and log in to the server using Novell Intranetware 4.11
software for Windows 95, which is several years old. Recently, I added a
workstation and downloaded client 3.4 to use to access the server rather
than install the Intranetware. It turns out that I can't get this
workstation to log into the server using client 3.4. I get the login
screen, but it reports it can't find a server or tree, even though I
entered them correctly. Does anybody know why it won't access the server
while the other workstations can?
Thanks very much.On Sun, 10 Jul 2005 17:58:38 GMT, [email protected] wrote:

It is a method for packaging data for transmital over IPX.

At the console enter the command CONFIG. The displayed output will
include the frame type. On the workstation, go into the Control
Panel, Network, and find the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBios Compatible
Transport Protocol, and open its properties. Set the frame type to
match the server. If more than one frame type was displayed on the
server, use 808.2 if it is listed.

These option are for the Microsoft client for NetWare, which is not
aware of NDS. Install the Novell Client for NetWare. Choose Custom
install, IPX only.

Abend trannta.nlm with dos client when tranferring ghost image
We are using Netware 6 for ghost image with pure IP DOS boot disk.
When we upload a image to Netware 6 for HP DC7600 workstation with Broadcom
57 card, it crashed with
a red windows "TRANNTA.NLM: TCPSENDACKEDCALLBACK() ACKED more data in
queue" during upload process.
We did "SET TCP DELAYED ACK = OFF" on the server but it does not help.I've never found a method of solving that crash. I leave IPX enabled
and use IPX just from my Ghost boot disks, not only because it's
faster anyway but because of this very issue you're reporting.
(The environment I remember seeing it in would have been Dell Optiplex
GX150s with 3C905 on-board NIC, for what it's worth, so I don't think
its exclusive to your hardware.)
Using a Windows PE boot CD & Ghost32 has been working successfully for
me too; so I suppose the day I'm forced to use IP-only pathways I'll
just use WinPE exclusively and drop the DOS boot.

Integrating DOS/client server apps through portal
Is there any partners out their that have developed any portlets that will integrate legacy client server or DOS through the portlet in a Citrix NFuse fashion?
There seems to be a few competitive portal providers out their who claim that this can be done. OBTree does this via Java wrapped emulation software which can be integrated over the web.
This would be very useful for legacy integration into one place without rewriting a front end etc.
Any ideas or recommendations?Any one got idea how to resolve this problem. We are facing this problem with applet based applications. Pleae let me know if any one know how to write netlet rules to make this app. work through portal.

IPrint with DOS 6.22 client
Hi,
I have one OES 1 SP2 Linux server and one client is an plain old DOS 6.22
connected via TCP/IP and Client32.
Any ideas how to print from this old DOS workstation to an iPrint printer?
WalterMarcel,
there is only one DOS workstation, to keep one server to support this DOS
workstation is not an very good option. So I wait for OES 2 and if there is
no other option we run Netware virtualized on Linux.
But I was hoping, that an LPR client exists for DOS.

How to config nfs client in netware 6 SP5
Hello, I'm with some problems to find some information. It becomes difficult to find on a system already without support. I need to access an NFS from NetWare 6 SP5, and the truth can not find anything, so some links are broken. Anyone have any idea.
The NFS documentation for NetWare 6.0 can be found:
Novell Documentation: NetWare 6 - Working with UNIX Machines
Now this is about th eNFS service.
From your message title, are you talking about connecting a NFS client to a NetWare server, or about using NetWare as an NFS client? In the later case, you would need tu purchase an extra product callled NetWare NFS gateway. -
Hi!
Where can I download Oracle Client for DOS to connect to Oracle Server version 7, 8, 9 or 10g?
Thank you for any advice.
Igor Shulgin
Chelyabinsk, JSC UralsvyazinformOracle hasn't produced a DOS client at least in the past 6 years. I'm not aware of a DOS client that has ever been produced, but I can't say that for sure. If there was a DOS client in the Oracle 6 or 7 days, getting it would be a challenge-- you'd have to contact Oracle support to see if that have an archive that goes back that far. Most likely, you'd have to find someone who still had the old media. Even if you did, though, an Oracle 6 or 7 client cannot connect to an Oracle 9i or 10g database. An Oracle 6 client can't even connect to an Oracle 8i database.
In other words, you probably can't connect from a DOS machine. If you install Windows, you can use the Windows client from a DOS window.

Dos printer capture on Windows XP
I have a client that is running an old database application on Btrieve.
It was set up originally on Netware 3.12 with DOS clients, and has been
ported to Netware 4.11 with Windows 98 clients.
The Netware 4.11 server is on the way out (old age) and we have it running
on a Netware 5.1 server with Pervasive 2000. We are getting performance
issues with Windows 98 clients but performance is excellent with Windows XP
clients except for one very significant problem, printing.
The application uses captured printers and I can find no way that works to
do this in Windows XP, even with the new client 4.91 SP 3.
When I print in the application, I get an error (error 8832h in
VLM_PrintRedirCancel), which, of course, is not found in the knowledgebase.
I tried the Microsoft-suggested net use command, and, once I figured out
the syntax errors in their instructions, I captured the printer but it
still did not work.
The printer in question is on a Windows 98 machine.
All mapping is done apparently with a Netware 3.12 script which I can't
access to change or correct or add mapped printers (no Netware 3.12 on the
system and I have no way of using syscon to access the bindery object).
Does anyone have any suggestions?

using the Microsoft net use command and I tried a couple of versions of

Fun experience with Novell Netware server install.
I had no clue where this belonged, since there's not a Netware Forum here...so here it is.
I just had an opportunity for a job interview today and the company uses Novell Netware, so I thought I'd install the server and network my computers with the Novell Client to refresh my memory on things. What a pain in the arse...
First of all I already had 3 OS's installed on my machine and since Netware installs in DOS, I had to figure out what I wanted to do...so I deleted Redhat 9 which I just installed, and in the process I deleted my extended partition which lost two logical drives which (my bad) I hadn't backed up yet...(No great loss...although there was some stuff there I wanted to keep I can recover it.) OK...what the heck...I figure...so I move all my partitions to the top of the drive to make room at the front to install DOS 6.22 and Netware, but alas it screwed up my Windows 2003 server (as noted in the MS forum). OK...nothing on there I critically need...so it gets nixed too! Now tons of free space and only Win98 which I don't want to delete because there is stuff on there I want to keep and backup first. (BTW - I'm using System Commander for partitioning and OS stuff).
OK...install...DOS 6.22..no probs...install CD-ROM drivers...no prob...Go to install Netware via DOS and gosh! It only recognizes 14 mb RAM available and needs 96. I have 128! What's up with that? I tried that a dozen different ways, still no joy. OK...so, maybe I should have tried my old instructor's suggestion first...Use Win98's Dos to install...OK...did it...Cool -- no more RAM issue, but I get to the Network card driver part of the install and what happens? The install proggy keeps assigning an "invalid interupt" to my Realtek Network card.
Now I have to go to my interview...that went well (I think - one can never be sure until you get the job offer)...
Come back and it's raining...that means I can't go play in my garden...that's OK though--got a thousand things to do on my computers.
In the meanwhile I bounce my idea off my old instructor to "force" the IRQ in POST -- so I changed PCI slot1 to IRQ 3 and PCI slot 2 to IRQ 5 (both were set to "auto" - I wasn't sure which slot I had my card in and didn't want to open my computer and change it so I just picked 'em both). Cool...blasted right through that part of the install. Ooops...now SYS volume won't load. Why? I don't know...I think I forgot to create the partition. So, we go back to System Commander, and get us a new partition for netware and run install again.
Now this part I couldn't figure out...made it through to the network card part and I can't believe it...it autorecognized a Kensington driver when I know for sure I have a Realtek network card. I ain't complaining...it worked...SYS volume loaded and I have a running Novell server.
Now let's see how many issues I can create trying to install the client on another Win 98 machine I need to use to type a thank you letter for the interview and get it printed! *lol
In case you missed it, there's no problem in the above post to try to help me figure out. I just thought some might enjoy the story.
It's amazing what one forgets, that he thinks he remembers...or forgot that he should have remembered...or something like that!

Novel Client for Windows 3.1
I recently was asked to support a windows 3.1 server with a Novel client

NetWare DOS Client
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/13555.html
Keep scrolling down past the link for dw271e.zip (which is the 32-bit
client for DOS and Windows 9x), and you'll get to the links for
vlm121_x.exe, which represent the Novell Client probably last used for
Windows 3.10.
Or, KEEP scrolling down and you can scroll right into 1994 and a link
to where NETX v3.32 PTF may be found.

Dúvida - Processo de validação de situação fiscal de clientes
Pessoal boa tarde,
Link http://www.fazenda.pr.gov.br/arquivos/File/FAQ/FAQ_NFe_PR_v4_4.pdf
Isso é tudo o que consegui encontrar sobre esse processo de validação da situação fiscal do destinatário.
Só não consegui encontrar nada sobre prazos.
Um abraço.

Windows 98 with NW Client 3.4
Dear All,
Most of Windows 98 users reported the NW Client always prompted the
following message.
Client32:Please wait while System retries request to <Server Name>
To stop waiting, press Enter
Netware will then return an error and try to reconnect in the background
After the user press <Enter>, sometimes the map drive can be accessed again,
but sometimes the map drive can't be accessed (although the map drive and
connection still exist - checked the Netware connection from Netware service
icon).
If we try to use Windows Explorer to map a network drive, the Netware Login
dialog will be prompted, after type in the password the message "The tree or
server cannot be found. Choose different tree or server". Finally, the
only way to solve this problem is restart the computer.
we have no this problem occurred in Windows 2000 with NW Client 4.83 or
above in the same LAN.
Moreover, our LAN running both Netware 4.11 (IPX) and Netware 6 (IP/IPX),
client enable both IP and IPX.
Any suggestion to solve this problem?
Thanks.

When using Microsoft Office with Crossover, if I access a mounted NetWare

The same action with an NCPFS mount works ok.
Of course I understand if having Office/Crossover working is not exactly a
priority but my company will need it if we are to migrate to NLDMalt,

I've been moving DHCP off our 2008r2 domain controllers to 2012r2 member servers and discovered that in our locations still running dos that those clients are not getting and ip address, any ideas?
yes it is authorized, (works for everything but some DOS clients)
No filtering
Logs say DHCP is functioning normally
no changes to subnets
Update - the location in question is the only location still using WINS. When I disable WINS I get no DOS leases, either on the new 2012R2 DHCP server OR the old 2008r2 DHCP server.
So I installed WINS on the 2012R2 DHCP server with some success however when I try to partner WINS 2012R2 see the 2008R2 server but 2008R2 says can't find network path. So until I can get replication I don't think I'll be 100%.
I have tried turning off both firewalls but that didn't change anything.
Any suggestions?
update - I was able to manually replicate the WINS servers, we'll see what happens now.
I wondering if these dos clients are setup with netbui and not tcpip. Checking into dos config disk. -
Upgrade Netware 4.11(IPX) Server to Netware 6.0 (IP) Upgrade
We have recently upgraded from Netware 4.11 with clients running IPX to Netware 6.0 with clients running IP on our Cisco Infrastructure. Since the upgrade have noticed a considerable degradation in performance over WAN links (10Mb Half Duplex). The degradation relates to the increase in time when opening files on NW 6.0 servers that reside on the LAN. Workstations on the LAN have no such issues. My question is - Does anyone know the possible cause of the degradation ?.
Have you looked at the WAN links for errors , utilization etc... Don't know what you have on each end of the WAN link , is it possible to make the WAN link at least 10/full on each end . Doesn't take much to fill a 10/half collision domain .
