Netware 6 /client win7 prof.

Hallo,

  • Silent install of netware client on Windows 7

    We want to upgrade all our Windows 7 computers to the newest version of the Netware client. I set the options in the Install.ini so that it does not display things like the dialog boxes, but it still prompts the user. What else do need to do so that I can do silent installations?
    Thanks....

    You might try asking in the client support forum.

  • Manually sign the netware client certificate

    We have Netware 6.5 SP8 and we want to upgrade our Windows 7 clients to "Netware client 2 SP3 for Windows 7 IR4". I have 2 questions:
    1) what is command line to digitally sign the client certificate? Or another way to ask it, what is the DOS command line to digitally sign the client certificate so that I do not have the popup box confirming the installation of the certificate?
    2) I can export the certificate from a computer, but what type of certificate is it? When I go into the certmgr.msc utility to export the certificate, there is a list of types to choose from and I don't which type to select?
    Thanks....

    Section 2.6.1 of the Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows Administration
    Guide[1] includes the following (note the two Microsoft links in the
    last paragraph):
    --begin--
    For the Novell Client, the certificate used for Authenticode signing is
    the Verisign public certificate for Novell, Inc. The best way to obtain
    the correct certificate for use in the Trusted Publishers list is to
    install the Novell Client on a Windows machine, then select the Always
    trust software from Novell, Inc. option when prompted. Then use the
    Microsoft Certificate Management Console (certmgr.msc) to export the
    Novell, Inc. certificate visible in this Windows machine's Trusted
    Publishers certificate list.
    The exported certificate can be used to pre-distribute Novell, Inc. as a
    Trusted Publishers certificate on Windows machines using any of the
    methods Microsoft makes available for pre-loading certificates used by
    Authenticode-signed software. This includes Microsoft support for
    distributing certificates during unattended installations of Windows, or
    through the use of Group Policies.
    For more information on the options provided by Microsoft Windows for
    distributing software publisher certificates, see the "Deploying
    Authenticode Digital Certificates in an Enterprise" section of Using
    Authenticode to Digitally Sign Driver Packages for Windows Server 2003
    (Authenticode.doc,

    Microsoft Windows Group Policy documentation

  • Netware client & WIndows 7 password sync

    We have Netware 6.5 SP8 and on our Windows 7 pc's we have "Netware Client 2 SP3 for Windows 7 IR4".
    We have problems with the Netware password and the Windows 7 password getting out of sync. Is there a setting in either the client or the Windows 7 that will automatically sync the Windows password with the new Netware password whenever the Netware password is changed?

    Hi,
    On the properties of your Novell Client | Advanced Login | what is your "login windows password synchronization" set to?

    Just an update.
    I believe some EVIL beings from some powerful organization has totally hijacked my Lenovo laptop.  Now the F1 key would not bring up the BIO setup menu, instead, it asked if I want to boot to Windows 7.  Windows update for .NET Framework 4 failed.  Previously I fixed.  Now it's gone again.
    These [mod edit] despicable evil beings are most likely from a government.  An individual would not have such motivation.

    Hello,
    My general rule of thumb when encountering these types of issues is to get on the phone with your anti-malware software vendor's technical support department.  They are likely best able to investigate and troubleshoot issues you think may be related to malware (whether from governments, criminal organizations or just garden-variety hackers).

  • Canned Report for Netware client verion?

    Is there a canned/ pre-configured report for Netware client version? I'd
    like to run a quick enterprise report showing which version of Netware
    client we have out there. Thanks in advance.
    hdavidt

    It's sort of crude, but this works:
    Reports->Software Applications->By Manufacturer->Novell
    If you scroll down, you'll find entries for all of the Novell Client
    versions.

  • Using Netware Client as Login Shell for NLD

    I am wondering if there is anyway to run the Novell client in place of the standard SUSE login screen on boot.
    I would like to set it up just like a Windows machine with the netware client. Machine is turned on, Novell Client come up, log in, away you go.
    Any help?
    Is this possible?
    Thanks,

    Until then you could use the directions in "integrating nld into a netware
    network" as a base login process then script NCL to launch at startup. both
    of these processes are discussed here and as cool solutions.

  • How can I authorize my new computer (win7 prof 64bit) on ADE 3.0 (previous Win XP; ADE 2.0)?

    how can I authorize my new computer (win7 prof 64bit) on ADE 3.0 (previous Win XP; ADE 2.0)?

    Two things worth trying ..
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~
    Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
    Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
    A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
    This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
    In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0.  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
    (You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
    Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.
  • "Out of memory" error using SmartView v11.1.1.3.500, MS Excel 2007 & MS Win7 Prof SP1 (all 32-bit)
    Hi All,
    A user is regularly experiencing "Out of memory" error messages while retrieving large MS Excel 2007 worksheets (ad-hoc analysis; approx 700 rows by 13 columns) connected to a Planning cube via 32-bit SmartView v11.1.1.3.500 (Build 008) on a 32-bit MS Windows 7 Prof (SP1) computer with 4GB of RAM. The same user is reporting experiencing a number of other issues (eg, TCP-related time-out, unable to connect to the APS, SmartView add-in disappearing, etc) at the same time.
    I could not locate any specific KB document from the My Oracle Support website which addressed these specific issues all at once but from various posts out there, the recommendations to address similar issues were as follows:
    Tick the Options > Display > Reduce Excel file size option;
    Tick the Options > Display > Improve metadata storage option;
    Rebuild the MS Excel workbook from scratch;
    Delete all temp files located in the C:\Users\USER NAME\AppData\Local\Temp directory;
    Disable auto-recovery for MS Excel;
    Add misc TCP-related registry entries (eg, TcpTimedWaitDelay, MaxUserPort, MaxFreeTcbs, etc) on both the client PC and server;
    Adjust MS Windows for best performance;
    Increase the page file by 25%-50% more than the physical amount of RAM installed on the client PC;
    Relocate the page file to a different drive as compared to the drive where MS Windows is installed on the client PC;
    On top of the above, are there any other recommendations anyone else would like to share to address the "Out of memory" issue?
    Many thanks in advance,
    JBM
    Monitor the Full GC in GC log and see if there is any gradual increase in the free memory retained after every Full GC over a period, if there is a gradual increase and if its reaching maximum specified heap over a period of time, that means there might be some slow leak from application or native libraries.
    Also please check if you have any pattern or request which might be triggering OOM all of the sudden.
    If its memory leak best way to investigate that is to capture JRA's at regular interval's and monitor top 10 objects and see which one is growing and consuming more % of heap over a period of time.
    You can also have this by captured by print_object_summary and print_memusage options in JRCMD command over a period of time.
    Hope this helps.
  • Vmware xp session and netware client under windows7
    I am beginning to migrate my netware 4.11 servers to 5.1
    I have an xp session installed under vmware.
    I have a 5.1 server set up with ip and ipx.
    I can connect to the 5.1 server on ip or ipx on an xp sp3 workstation.
    I setup a windows 7 workstation and installed the client for windows 7.
    I can attach to the server and map drives.
    I can run my database software under dosbox and mount the mapped drives.
    I would rather run the software under an xp session in vmware as the software is tried and true under xp.
    I have created the xp session.
    If I login and map drives under windows 7 they don't show up under the xp session.
    I installed the client for windows xp (4.91 sp5) ip only and it will not find the tree or server so I can't login from xp.
    I tried uninstalling the client from windows 7 and use the client under the xp session. It still doesn't find anything.
    How do I attach to the server under the vmware xp session?
    Should I have the client loaded under both 7 and the vmware xp session?
    Galtjunk,
    > I am beginning to migrate my netware 4.11 servers to 5.1
    Why not 6.5 or OES11?
    I would regard the Xp session as a completely separate machine and I
    doubt that the VMWare router will route IPX, so you need to configure
    the Xp machine for IP.
    Then try logging in, using the IP address of server in the server field
    and leave tree field blank.
  • GroupWise API and Netware Client dependency
    I am having some issues with protected memory violations in trying to use the GW API to use either the Connect() or ConnectByDN() methods so we can programmatically create a GW User account for an existing NDS user.
    From what I see, it would seem to me that the API requires an active login context for a user to work properly. Can any of you verify that a logged on Netware user session must be present in order to use the API?
    I don't see any option in the API to bind to NDS or GW using a logon method. If anyone knows of such a method in the API, please advise.
    On the box, install the Novell Client, and make sure you are logged in
    as to the context where you wants to add the user
  • The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) in Audition CC. Latest fix? Win7 Prof
    Another username, password later, ..., control handed over to Creative Cloud, install Audition.... then
    "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)" in Audition CC. So re-installed. I on't want to spend hours trying to get Adobe software to run.  This was my trial application download to see how it worked. ANd it didn't. And there are heaps of posts with complicated advice... ending with - go get a chat support person. And they are not available. aaaaggggghhhhh
    I am now worried that installing any other app from CCloud may cause problems on my PC with other Adobe SW.
    What is the latest (and hopefully simple) way of getting this program to run?
    I don't have ilivid,
    I do have:  CS5, Win 7 Prof, installed via some Adobe CCloud app that I was told to install and use to manage your CC account,
    Grateful for anyone who can wave the magic wand.
    Above linked gave this soln:
    1. please try to download a dll file from  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4eWI-NGpmnuTUxPQVIxYThSNlE/edit?usp=sharing
    2. The package contains the files msvcr100.dll and msvcr80.dll. Extract the package contents to the following location:
    I copied the 2 DLL files to the C:\program files\Adobe\audition cc 2014 folder and it worked. SIMPLE !!!!!! YEH.
  • Cannot install System Update 4 on Thinkpad W520 running Win7 Prof 64
    I am having problems installing system update 4. I originally installed it and had the problem with running it and getting the tvsu error message that is addressed in another thread.
    I uninstalled it then ran two registry optimizers and reinstalled .Net and now I can't even install it. When I do I get the following:
    This setup will perform an upgrade of '!@^'. Do you want to continue? Yes or No.
    I click Yes and it runs some more until this pops up:
    Error 2753. The File 'startsuservice.exe' is not marked for installation.
    Click OK then the installation program finishes but does not complete. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall the entire toolbox and that does not work.
    I have a W520 running Win7 64.
    Thanks for the thoughtful response. See my answers in bold.
    You opened this thread in June 2012, and Now you are back to give us an update.
    Slicing and dicing the registry is NOT the solution.  Why not, if you know what you are doing? Guess the MSI installer is not the answer. I would NEVER use a registry cleaner, EVer.  It over cleans. No argument there.
    (1) Does programs and features show System update installed? No IF so try to uninstall.
    (2) Install System Update 5.0.2 and post the results.  Won't install. If it did, what results would I post? Install on top of version 4 and see what happens. SU is not installed. Support of your laptop does NOT show version 4 available for download.
    (3)This  system was factory shipped win 7 (released feb 22,2011)  did system update ever work out of the box? No.
    (4) What version of . Net installed? v4 3.5 SP 1 is needed. NO need to uninstall/reinstall. You are overworking yourself. Agreed
    ===
    You state you used 2 registry cleaners, and from feb 2011  until your June 2012 post, was all well with your system? Yes, a couple of other problems were actually fixed but not this one. Based on all of the experts disdain for these cleaners, I guess I was lucky that they didn't cause more problems.
    I would backup your user data and factory install.  No, too much work. See foot, it has a hole in it. ?????
    When did you receive this laptop, like before June 2012? purchase date? June, 2011
    ==
    Your original post:
     I originally installed it and had the problem with running it and getting the tvsu error message that is addressed in another thread.
    When did you run registry cleaners?  Approx. between 6/11 and 6/12. After the tvsu error message that is addressed in another thread?  Yes
    ==
    Your most recent post referred to a workaround. This involves SU version 5. It wont reinstall, seems SU service (old) pointing to non existent folder.  New SU just released. You are version 4.  So? Any version I try to install fails with the same message.
    ==
    I do problem determination on main frames. Been doing it for 30 years.  I did the same early in my career. Gather the facts.  In your case, original, ,  System update msg error. Did something else occur(registry cleaner). Some times the interview points to the most simple solution. Oh, really? The easy fix would be to bypass the point in the install process that is pointing to a previous version that does not exist or find the offending registry entry that is deceiving the install process and delete it.  But I can't do that because I am not a MS/PC software engineer and I can't seem to find one who can help. OH, change parm=0 to parm =1 or install the newer version. Where? Simple. You over killing it.
    What I like to call tourist Information...(couch potato), .. so. bottom line,  in June 2012, version 4 SU gave me a error message. That is where we start. That would be nice but no one has ever solved the original problem in this forum.
