NetWeaver 2004s (BI-IP) liveCache Infrastructure Requirements

Team SAP,
One of my customers is interested in utilizing the liveCache option to manage their lock table for Integrated Planning (BI-IP).
Do we have any documentation and guidance we can provide on requirements and configuration scenarios. Some of the questions being asked include:
1) Can the liveCache be installed on the same box where BI-IP will be running (i.e. NetWeaver 2004s production box)
2) Is there a need to purchase new hardware, and what are the guidelines for sizing and configuration?
Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
-M

Hi Michael,
This functionality should documented. E.g. When you call transaction RSPLAN, there is a button "Manage Lock Server", on the first tab ("Lock Table"), there are "i"-buttons for a short introduction. For configuration information on live cache, please look at note 816730.
This technology is new with NW2004s, and we at SAP development are very much interested in your feedback. (customer scenario, numbers of concurring users, comparison to shared object based technology, etc.)
So, for best project support please involve your SAP ramp up coach in order to get into contact with the ramp up back office. This will garantuee you best support.

    Hi,
We have an SAP BW 3.0B system running at the moment and we are in the process of upgrading to SAP Netweaver 2004 (BW 3.5).
I'll like to know if there are any additional system requirements for upgrading the system to SAP Netweaver 2004 (BW 3.5). We do not intend to make use of the Java options for the meantime.
    Any documentations will be appreciated.

  • Technical configuration required to load SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI

    Hi TR,
There are a base requirements for installing the BW system and then it varies on how much data you are going to extract.  I suggest you start here http://service.sap.com/sizing  You will find a variety of information on how to determine what you need.  Then on the same site run the quicksizer.

  • Required clarificatrion about  Netweaver 2004s

    Hi All,
If anybody of you is having information about the following, please put it here.
    1. Need confirmation about 'Record Management System' (DMS?)
availability in base NetWeaver 2004s platform (not mySAP ERP or any other mySAP application)
    2. Possibility of integration of documents (word, pdf, excel) with a custom transaction /
Master data (also report if possible)
I know DMS module is avalable with ERP. but how do we use in NetWeaver 2004s -ABAP Custom transaction.
I proposed to use KM in EP, but can we KM in ABAP (I feel 'No')
    Your ideas are appriciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sireesha.B

    Hi,
The NetWeaver platform contains only the technologies behind the business. It has the WAS stack for instance, that enables the business modules to function.
The DMS that you are talking about, seems to be a module provided by SAP, and should be residing in the ERP stack. With just the NetWeaver 2004s, you will be able to create a custom transaction I suppose. But the business data has to come from the ERP addition.
The KM module needs a Portal installation. It cannot run on the ABAP stack.
    Hope this helps.

  • Web service in netweaver 2004s

    Dear experts,
I created a web service based an RFC function module and my bw system is Netweaver 2004s patch level 19,so this webservice can not be configured in transaction wsadmin and wsconfig.
And it can only be admined in new transaction SOAMANAGER or WSADMIN2. It said after patch level 14 new created webservice are hidden in wsadmin.
We did not configure J2EE server in our bw system and only have ABAP web, when I tried soamanager I got an error.
Is it possible that we can use soamanager to configure this webservice without installing J2EE enginee?
Or we have to use J2EE to configure web service after patch level 14.
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Fanchest

    Hi Fannie,
SOAMANAGER is a Web Dynpro for ABAP application. It does not require a J2EE stack to run.
Perhaps your ICM is not configured properly?
    Cheers

  • SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version on Windows Vista

    Hello everyone,
I have been trying to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version for three days now on Windows Vista Ultimate. Since Microsoft has a new security infrastructure implemented in Windows Vista, it is not that easy to install SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version. Windows Vista has some sort of User-account security. In summary, in Windows Vista, you are logged in as an administrator, but when it comes to change system files or do registry entries, you or respectivly third party programs (e.g. SAP NetWeaver 2004s Java Trial Version installer) has no rights to do things like registry entries. There is a possibility to rightclick on the setup.bat file and start it in administrative mode, but that doesn't change a thing.
I hope you guys get my problem.
    This is the error log:

Windows Vista isn't on the support matrix of SAP Netweaver 2004s!
you may play arround with regedit and chaning the security settings of SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DPS key. SAPinst is doing a KEY_ALL_ACCESS when enumerating the services registry.
Starting with Vista some registry values have special protection which do not allow administrators to open them with KEY_ALL_ACCESS.

    Hi Soujanya,
This is known issue in BEx tools in this latest release.
We got the same problem and still facing.
We are using BEx 3.5X to access all reports.
Install BEx 3.5 too. Then you get two sub menus to access BEX tools.
Make sure that you open reports in 3.5 BEx Analyser.
I think all reports, which you tried to open in BEx(BI 7.0) are corrupted. try to copy to your datatargets/install (if they are BI Content Reports).
    Good Luck,
    Anand.

  • System Landscape in Sap netweaver 2004s

We have installed SAP Netweaver 2004s in Dev server.
As per the requirement we are planning to create three clients in that server.
    client 212 for Dev
    client 312 for Sandbox
    client 412 for QA
Is that possible to have three clients in sapnetweaver 2004s in same instance?..
    Please advise..
    Thanks
    Soujanya

BW Objects are client-independent. IDs of master data as well as of dimensions are created from number ranges but the number range intervals are client-dependent. For example you can define different number range for master data “Busness Partner” in different OLTP systems which you may want to extract data to BW from. To avoid number range overlapping & because only one client can ensure unique ID, we do have only one client for BW.
Please assign points if you find it useful.

  • Implementierung des SAP Solution Managers 4.0 SR2 über SAP Netweaver 2004s

    Hallo Leute,
    MfG
    Ali

    Hi,
For how long the installation process has been running. Check the following.
    1. The virtual memory page size that you have assigned.
    2. The hard disk free space.
    3. The Virtual memory should be optimized size, should not be larger than the free space available.
    These are performance optimization settings.
I guess the installation would take around ten hours, I am not sure.
But one thing is sure <b>SAP</b> is not that bad to get aborted abruptly.
Keep Patience while installing. Before that take care that your system satisfies, requirements.
Hope I was clear. Feel free to get back, incase you face any problem.

  • Webdynpro Application is not Deploying into Netweaver 2004s From NWDS CE

    Hi,
I Developed Webdynpro Application in NWDS CE 7.1 SP5.
I Am using Netweaver 2004s AS JAVA .
After Deploying application i will get page can not be displayed and in the browser url is following below
    http://localhost:-1/webdynpro/dispatcher/demo.sap.com/firstapp/FirstApp?SAPtestId=2
my actual port is 50000 but it gives -1.
and also i need one clarification NWDS CE 7.1 Applications Supports the Netweaver 2004s or
it requires Netweaver CE 7.1 AS JAVA.
We have to develop applications using webdynpro, mobile perspectives in NWDS CE 7.1 SP5
    Is it Supports Netweaver 2004s.
    Thanks
    Subbarao

    Hi
NetWeaver CE 7.1 uses Java 5 and so does the NWDS CE 7.1 by default. The server you have is NW 2004s SP 9 which runs on Java 1.4. So you simply can not build with Java 5 and deploy it to a server with JRE 1.4, you will get a class unsupported version error.
Next you are using NWDS CE 7.1 to connect to server 2004s. The architecture of the Java servers in SAP is changed. 2004s has SDM and dispatcher and a server process at its simplest form. In CE theres an ICM and server. (SDM & Dispatcher combined). You no more give the message port number when you set up the JEE server of NWDS 7.1 instead you would use instance number. When you register a NW 2004s server with NWDS 7.1 (instance numbers are available for 7.0 servers as well), the studio fails to find the deploy mechanism (SDM or ICM) hence you see a port -1.
Lastly the architecture of WebDynpro is greatly changed from NW 7.0 to NW 7.1 so dont even think of deployment to previous versions.

  • How to upgrade NetWeaver 2004 SS19 to 2004s SPS10????

    Hi,
I cannot find any useful information on HOW to do this.  Some links I follow eventually lead me to this page:
    https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001130682005E
which say that if you're running NW2004 SS19, it must be upgraded to SPS10.
Furthermore, NW2004 uses SAPINST, but NW2004s uses JSPM.  I can find info on updating NW2004 and NW2004s installations, but how do i get the stack from NW2004 to NW2004s????
Any help would be MOST appreciated!
    Thanks!
    David

    Hello David,
The upgrade tools are able to include SP Stacks of your target release into the upgrade procedure:
    1. The tool checks your current SP Stack and gives you the information which minimum SP Stack level you should use for your target release (the so-called "equivalence Support Package level"). This Support Package must be included so that no data is lost in the upgrade.
    2. You download the required SP Stack level (or a higher level) from SAP Service Marketplace and enter in the GUI of the upgrade where your SP Stack files of SAP NetWeaver 2004s are located on your hard disk.
    3. The tool will then upgrade your system from SAP NetWeaver '04 to SAP NetWeaver 2004s and also apply the downloaded SP Stacks.
So, the result of the upgrade in your case would be an SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP Stack 10 system, no manual patching would be required as part of the upgrade.
For more information, see the upgrade guide for SAP NetWeaver 2004s (available at http://service.sap.com/upgradenw2004s). There, also the Upgrade Master Guide is available that provides further information concerning the planning of your upgrade.
I hope this information helps to get an idea of the overall procedure.
    Best regards,
    Boris
