NetWeaver 2004s - Query Designer - Assign Attributes to characteristic

Dear specialists,
I try to find out, how I can restrict the attributes to the characteristics.
I have only the opportunity to restrict values or value variables.
This problem comes up with the new 2004s Release.
Are there other ways to restrict the atrributes to their characteristics

Hello Osman,
To make a Characteristics a Navigational Attribute,
- First identify the infoProvider for the Query, then
- Logon to your BW Back-end system (Not Bex Analyzer), execute transaction code RSA1, click on InfoProvider under "Modelling", locate your query infoprovider and double click on it to change it or right-click to display context menu and click on "Change".
- Open up the "NavAttribute", locate your characteristic and in the third column (i.e "On/Off" column), switch on the Navigational attribute by checking the box in front of the characteristic. Save your changes.
You can then go back to Bex Analyzer.

How do I use the option "table view" in NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer?

We have used NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer, We found a strange problem. The option to select table view is not available. It is greyed out. How can you select table view (tabular) in 2004s Query Designer?
I have read the help doc about tabular view of NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer, I check my query, it has only one structure . but the option is still greyed out. I rebuild the query with 3.x Query Designer in tabular view, and reopen it with 2004s Query Designer, So there is a tab named "tabular view" display, but the option to select table view is still not available, and when users view the query result in web , it is still not in tabular view display. So I am confused, is there a bug with NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer?

Query Design - Keyfigure attribute in the calculation

Hi,
I have an infoObject with "Standard Balance" (a key figure) as an attribute. InfoObject has been added to the InfoCube.
In my InfoCube I have another Keyfigure called "Actual balance".
Now, in the query I would like to check the difference between the two (Actual Balance - Standard Balance). If this difference is positive, then I would like to display the row, else, I don't want to display it at all...
Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated.

1- to capture the KF-attribute in the query, create a formula variable of type replacement path (go into the formula designer and create a new formula.. it's pretty straightforward)

3- use a condition to filter on your new CKF/formula from step 2 to show only the rows where this calculation is positive

Issues opening a BI 7.0 query in to 3.x query designer?

Hi,
I opened a 7.0 based query in to 3.x query designer. I have couple of concerns that are listed below:
1. First of all is it ok to open 7.0 query in 3.x query designer? if no what are the Consequences?
2. A warning message displayed saying that the infoprovider is inactive any idea?
3. Can use the 3.x browser for 7.0 queries? Do you think 3.x browser have all the cozy navigation options like 7.0.

Pls find some SAP notes:
1.Queries created or adapted with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer will still appear in the Open Dialog of the 3.x tool but they cannot be opened anymore.
2.For those scenarios where customers do not want to use the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer, SAP ships a 3.x version of the BEx Query Designer in addition to the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer.
3.New capabilities are only implemented in the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer.
4.Query Views that were created before will still run after a query has been changed with the new BEx Query Designer.
In general, query views do not need to be migrated.
5.The new BEx Analyzer gives access to InfoProviders, queries and query views but not to query views created with the new BEx Web Analyzer. On the other hand, query views created with the BEx Analyzer are available within the new BEx Web Analyzer.
6.Several Features of the new BEx Query Designer and BEx Web (e.g. in the area of exceptions and conditions) are not available in the new BEx Analyzer.
7.SAP does not recommend using NetWeaver 2004s queries and query views in the old 3.5 BEx Analyzer.

Cumulated Characteristic in Query Designer

I have a query in BEx 3.5 query design that has a characteristic in rows with a property of 'cumulated'.
I am trying to create similar query using BEx 7.0 Query Designer but don;t see the optino to set property of a characteristic to 'cu,ulative' anywhere.
(I don;t want to set on KF level.)
I have tried following correction from OSS note 1450906 but that doesn;t seem to be helping.
Is this possible in7.0 with latest patches? Where would i set for cumulative characteristic?

Problem with Queries Structures in Bex Query Designer and Universe Designer

I have a problem when i try to do a Universe from a Bex Query Designer.
When I use a Characteristic Restrictions in a Structure, the universe only show me the structure without the objects inside it.

Hi,
I assume that you are using BOE XI 3.1 SP2.
We have added an option in SP2 to generate or not the L00 level.
Unfortunately this option applies not only on characteristics but also on hierarchies, hierarchies variables and structures: that's the reason why you have no elements belonging to the structure generated.
I recommend to always generate L00 in order to have your structure generated correctly.
This issue will be fixed in SP3.

in that case you will have to use VBA.
just copy the code mentioned in the above links in Workbook->Tools->Macro
Create a macro with name SAPBEXonRefresh for the workbook in which the output is needed as " " in place of #.

Query Designer on Netweaver 2004s ABAP Sneak Preview

Hello Folks,
I have installed the ABAP sneakpreview, and have activated the BW on client 001.
Most things work well, but i am having problems with starting the Query Designer. I logon to the query designer, but nothing starts up.
In SM50 i see a lot of frontend objects being activated, but after this i do not see the Query Designer coming up. Does anyone have a clue.

Hi Dabre,
To work with BI 7 Query designer you have to downlaod latest patches of SAPGUI. Also you need to have MS OFFICE 2003 and .NEt framework installed.
Also check the blog to active your Bex settings in BI 7.

Application Help for Query Designer for Netweaver 2004S

Does anyone know how to install the Help Files for the Business Explorer Tool for Netweaver 2004S? When I click on the Help>>Applicaton Help from any of these tools, it states it can't find the files. I have it setup and working within ABAP.

The help dvd that came with upgrade explains how to setup for the ABAP side, not the Query Designer. Do you know the parameter settings? Does Query Designer help use the sapdoccd.ini file?

Hide a row or column for characteristic value # in Query Designer

Hi gurus,
I would if we could hide a result row / column if one of the characteristic value is #. The requirement is actually to remove the meaningless row / column from the whole result set. For example, I have a char Material Group in the column. Since not every Material is assigned to a Material Group, I will get the following layout:
Material_Group A
Material_Group B
Material_Group C
Is it possible to define in query designer so that the column with # will automatically not be displayed?

I guess we have the same users..
But there is one thing that is going to make a non sense on the report: if you do not display the "#" for material group, then the total of your query by material group will not be the summation of what is displayed on the screen...and if the user explort the information in Excel (pretty sure they will do so), you will have some calls that your query does not balance....
Based on that assumption, tell the users to assign a material group to the materials, so that this unassigned column disappears. You could even give them a control report listing all the parts that do not have a material group
If this is a standard business rule not to have a material group for all parts, then, what you could do is to change the text for empty rows for Material group, then the "#" will disappear and wil be under the text description you defined.
But keep in mind that your data is made of materials which do not have a material group in their definition, noraml or not ?

How to merge text attribute in query designer

Hi,
please does anybody know, how to merge, let say, two text attributes of one characteristic into one long text? I know, that it is possible with method, which is finally called in the Web Application Designer. But I need to proceed this on the query level. It means, when I display result of query in query designer, I need to have two attributes merged into one long text. Is there some exit, method or something else, where can I do it?

I don't think so we have string concatenation at query level.
You have to create / use existing info object and use string functions to achieve this.
Might be you could wait for some time to get more replies.

Attribute not visible in Query Designer

hi BI Gurus,
I could not see some InfoObjects(Attributes) which are marked Authorization Relevant, in the query designer. And the strange thing is, they are not visible even for the user with SAP_ALL and 0BI_ALL assigned. The authorizations for the cube in which the main char is used looks fine.
I have checked all the options in RSECADMIN, everything looks good.
pls help me in finding the solution..

check out with the info object screen in attribute tab, navigational attribute on/0f switch box, if u r using FF source system.
check out with the infocube whether u r checked the check boxes in navigational attribute tab.

Mandatory variable error of report design in Netweaver 2004s

Hi.
I have created a query contained a variable, this variable is provided by sap named 0I_FPER (Period/Fiscal Year (Interval Entry, Required)). I run this query by
BEX Analyzer, the system will popup a dialog to ask me input Fiscal Year/Period,
When i want to select some value to input, the system will give me an error message: "Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method : NCAUGHT_EXCEPTION".
Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

It is a Bug with SAP Netweaver 2004s. Correct the Coding error by applying the note:

Navigational Attributes Not Available in Query Designer

I don't see navigational attributes under Dimensions/DimensionA in Query Designer. Is there a switch to enable/disable nav attr. in BW?

Yes you need to switch on Navigational charateristics at DSO/CUBE and then add them to MultiProvider Dimension and assign then assign the fields.
