Hi,
Does anybody have any info about:
1. Comparison between NetWeaver's Content Management and FileNet's Web Content Management.
2. Integration between Netweaver and FileNet's Web Content Management.

This reply may be a little old but someone else may find this helpful. Answers to your questions.
1. FileNet's Enterprise Content Management (as oppose to Web) is far superior content management when compared to NW Content Management. Below are just a few points.
- Better version control
- Ability to create unique document and folder classes
- Metadata (master data) not limited to SAP standards
- Document based workflows as opposed to business process workflows
2. Integration can be achieved via FileNets web service or Java API. FileNet normally recommend FileNet ACSAP (application connector for SAP) but please consider this carefully. It'll only work for basic archivelink integration for some modules of R/3 only. Try it with anything else and you'll hit a wall with FileNet when it comes to support. They won't support it.
Last tip. There is very little information about ACSAP out there. Don't listen to what your FileNet sales rep tells you. Speak to an ACSAP developer if you can.

Hi! All,
We have a requirement at work which is to create PO attachments at the PO Item level. I'm new to DMS and I've read that DMS can be integrated with Filenet via SAP Archivelink and we already made several config changes in Archivelink and DMS. Here are my questions:
1) I noticed that business documents can be attached via "Services for Object" in the DMS txn (CV01N and CV02N). Id this the proper way? Also, the document is always in ALF format. How can this be changed to DOC or XLS?
2) Any ideas on how to attach a document to PO item level using DMS and Filenet?

Acsap is used to connect the filnet, this is the filenet component for SAP - you have to pay it extra.

Kinldy make clear cut query before you look for an answer to that!
To check for the WAS-J2EE Stack installation - kindly use the following link to access your WAS j22 Start page "http://hostname:5XX00" where XX will be the System No. for SAP System.
Incase if you want to find out that you have a EP installed: goto:-
"http://hostname:5XX00/irj"
For XI , you can go to "http://hostname:5XX00/rep"
Incase the links work properly the software component is installed.
PREREQUISITE for the above CHECKS:
1) The system number should be correct.
2) The Fully qualified domain name should be used for the hostname.
3) The Software components and the J2EE Stack should be operational.
(ON the SAP SERVER)On OS level --> you can Go and have a look for the following directories existence --->
1) usr/sap/SID/DV*.../j2ee,
2) usr/sap/SID/DV*.../SDM
This means that you have atleast the Java Stack installed on your SAP Server.
Next in the task manager(WINDOWS) / process level(UNIX) you can check if you have process "jlaunch process under the sidadm owner".
In SAP Frontend-GUI :
You can login and go to T-Code ST11 and check for the log files
dev_disp, dev_dispatcher, dev_server0, dev_jcontrol, dev_bootstrapID.......,
these file will give you info regarding the J2ee stack and its components....

Netweaver and Tendering with shipments

Hi,
I have problem which I need more background information how to solve it.
We make shipments and deliveries when transporting goods from consolidation points to end customer. Tendering Tab in shipment is not so familiar for me. I have now resolved that we can make freight cost shipment and transportation order for one shipment, but how that Tendering Tab works with Netweaver? If we send request of quotation from shipment into Netweaver and our TSP have rights to Netweaver and they make actions there how it show into shipment? Or have in SAP some other transactions how to tender transportation costs and comparing quotations between different TSP's.

SAP don't recommend directly access to the database tables, you need to use the functions modules called RFC and BAPI to access and change data into SAP System.

NetWeaver is a SOA plattform. It allows to build business application with the services and the tools, which are released by the SAP. Enough said about that, you can find so much information about NetWeaver in the internet and of course of the SAP websites and here in the SDN. NetWeaver is the future for business applications.
Visual Composer is part of the SAP Portal, which is part of the NetWeaver.

Installing Netweaver and mySap

Hello Everybody,
I need to install mySap, but the problem is that after installing SolMan 4.0 and using many features to configure the MaxDB database.
=> I can't configure Solman(do I need FrontEnd)
I don't really knows how I could install Netweaver 2004s and mySap ECC 6.0.
I checked the huge quantity of ínformation(seeing all the Guides that Sap could offer)
The problem is that every Guide links you to another.
It's like every road goes to Rom but which one is the short one?
Please Guys help me,
I have spend three Months installing Solman4.0 because of many buggy Bugs.
And I really don't want to spend this Summer doing that.
I used Vmware and the only version that works Java 1.4.2_09.
Database is MaxDB.
The Installation is on Central Server.
I'll be greatfull if you have a good tutorial for the first Step of Installation.
Please tell me how should I start.

Btw, if you are using VMWare you must have sufficiently large RAM in order to be sucessfull installation.

NetWeaver and Clientside Code

hi all,
as stated in the subject, i am looking for a way to execute code from my netweaver app. looking through the forums, the closest approach i found was to create a parent frame which has two childs, one nw app and one custom page containing my html/javascript code.
i must say this is not a very satisfying solution. and, sorry for me being new to netweaver, is it even possible to have a dynpro app navigate an external frame to another page or, if not, call a specific javascript function within that frame? is the only way to execute local code to write additional client software that does required work, being controlled from the server on demand?

What you mean to say is when you click on a button you would like to call a JSP applciation from the web Dynpro application. Vice versa Back to Web Dynpro application from JSP page.

Which SAP products require Netweaver and which do not

Hello, does anyone have slides or a link that shows which SAP products run on Netweaver? For example, some Sybase solutions do not run on NW but I'm not sure which may and which may not. Things like Aleri and probably some other components don't require NW. How about Business Objects, does that require NW or run on NW. A nice diagram showing what were would be great.
SAP Event Insight is shown as one server but I know Sybase CEP (Aleri) is part of it, so, I believe that one server can be solely NW.

Connection with Netweaver and ECC6 how to??

I am doing research at the possibilities of SAP Netweaver CE 7.1, I want to set up a small "Live Demo" where my netweaver is connected with my ECC6
For example, i made a process with some validations where i want to insert new employee data, like address Name, Last Name.
How can i connect with my ECC6 so that the data I fill in is saved in SAP, I don't have much experience with SAP, I know I need a web service to make the connection if I'm right, how can I make / generate the web service.
Can you give me some directions,

at sender you can use Webservice or File or any source to provide data to PI..
lets take
Webservice -->SAP PI 7.1 -->ECC 6.0
At sender(Webservice ) you will use SOAP sender adapter and reciever (ECC 6.0) you can use either RFC(Remote function call) or ABAP Proxy..
to have communication between PI 7.1 and ECC6.0 you should have the following..
RFC Connections in SAP PI7.1
SAP ECC6.0 -ABAP connection User: IDOC_BASIS
INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI- HTTP connection to ABAP system - user: PIISUSER
INTEGRATION_SERVER - User: PIAPPLUSER

in netweaver we have BI and BI also separate we are using, what is the main deffirence normal BI , netweaver BI, in netweaver portal concept there, in normal BI bex analyzer also we have broadcasting , we can publish reports into portal also, what the main use in netweaver BI?

Actually you can assume Netweaver as a package which integrates different systems.You have Different Sections in Netweaver.
1.First one is People Integration which includes Portal and Multi Channel Access.
2.Second one is Information Integration where our BI stands.Along with BI there are other two areas.They are Knowledge Management and Collobaration(these two alone also called as SAP Knowledge Management).Also Masterdata Management comes under this Information Integration.
3.Next comes Process Integration.Here you have Integration Broker and BPM(Business process management).SAP XI,SAP WAS will come under this area.
4.Next is Application Platform.Entire application will work based on this area.This os some thing like OS to the system.
