NetWeaver BPM and NetWeaver Business Workflow?

What is the difference between NetWeaver BPM and NetWeaver Business Workflow?

Hi
BPM
The new tools from SAP are aimed to provide the business process flexibility needed to enable customers to turn strategic business insight into real-world execution," stated SAP's announcement. "The addition of the planned capabilities will enable business process experts to design, model and immediately execute new or adapted business processes without having to develop code."
Business Workflow
SAP Business Workflow can be used to define business processes that are not yet mapped in the R/3 System. These may be simple release or approval procedures, or more complex business processes such as creating a material master and the associated coordination of the departments involved. SAP Business Workflow is particularly suitable for situations in which work processes have to be run through repeatedly, or situations in which the business process requires the involvement of a large number of agents in a specific sequence.
You can also use SAP Business Workflow to respond to errors and exceptions in other, existing business processes. You can start a workflow when predefined events occur, for example an event can be triggered if particular errors are found during an automatic check

  • Differences between Netweaver 2004 and Netweaver 2004s?

    Hi All,
Can anyone please explain me in details the major differences between Netweaver 2004 and Netweaver 2004s.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Henry

    Hi Henry,
This content i got from experts:
The code developed on 2004 will work on 2004s.
Some minor changes have been made refer to the documentation for specific details
SAP NW2004s is the mySAP Business Suite edition of SAP NW 2004.it is a minor release that delivers on specific needs of the mySAP and xapps solutions delivered by SAP in 2005. the "s" stands for "mySAP Business Suite Edition".
The next major release of NW will deliver on Business Process Platform(BPP) it will be released in 2006.
Few of the New capabilities in NW2004s
1)Developing a web based user interface with Web Dynpro fro ABAP.
    2)Enhancements to enabling B2B processes
    3)Enhancements to business task management
    4)Enhancements to business planning
    5)Enhancements to enterprise data warehousing
    6)mass setup of mobile devices
    7)implementing a global portal

NW04 is a 'Java version' which means you can develop applications using Java and export them to portal.
NW04s is a 'ABAP version'.Here you can develop ABAP reports and transactions and export them to portal. There you can create iViews using them.
Netweaver 04s, includes both the ABAP and Java stacks. The Sneak preview for NW04s is only for the ABAP stack, and the Sneak Preview NW04 SP15 is only the java stack. If you are using the sneak preview for ABAP, you can develop WDA applications and BSP applications, they run directly in the engine, not in a portal. But they can be embeded in an iView in some portal. You don't have to have a portal to run your application. If you are using the java side, you can develop WDJ applications and JSP applications. Same applies here, they run on the java engine, not in a portal, but can be embeded into an iView which runs on the portal. But you don't need a portal for your application to run. The portal is just a frontend UI, the apps themselves run on the underlying engine, whether its ABAP or JAVA.

  • Difference between NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 7.0 or 7.1

I am little confused and curious to know the recent changes happening in SAP.
Can you please tell me the differences between NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 7.0 or 7.1
NetWeaver 2004 is named because SAP has released it in 2004
and then we have XI 3.0, XI.7.0(that is PI right) , EP6.0 etc as individual components have different versions released in NewtWeaver suite.
But what is this NetWeaver 7.0.
We have EE5 or ECC6 and WebAs 6.4 or GUI 6.4 or recently GUI 7.o or WebAs 7.0.
How does all these differe, is individual component of NetWeaver upgraded with higher versions or total NetWever is upgraded with a higher version.
Can any one please tell me the exact difference between versions.
If some one has ECC6 installed in their environment does it mean that they have Netwaver components like XI, EP, MDM.. etc are installed or its only R/3, BI etc...
    How it works exactly?
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

Pretty much everything is explained in here:

  • Difference Between Netweaver 6 and Netweaver 7 and Netweaver 7.2

    Dear all,
Right now my company uses on SAP ECC 6.0.
can any body tell me that what is the difference between these versions of netweaver.
Plz. reply me or give me some links .
    i m new in netweaver.
    Thanx in advance

There is nothing like Netweaver 6. [There is only ECC 6.0]. Netwever is the technology Platform of SAP Business suite ( Coponents of it include ECC 6.0, CRM, SRM ). Hence, the underlying Technology platform of ECC6.0 is Netweaver 7.0.
As more capabilities are added to Netweaver 7.0, they (NW components like PI, MI, Portal) are versioned and released as NW7.1.
SAP NetWeaver 7.2, the next platform release delivering innovations for all major technology capabilities, including SAP NW BW, SAP NW Portal, SAP NW PI, and SAP NW BPM.

  • NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 2004s Certification

    Dear all,
Would like to take exam on NetWeaver 2004 Web AS for Oracle.
Going to take it in March or April.
Just wondering how long is this Netweaver 2004 going to last for? I saw from the marketplace that 2004 is the lastest certification you can get on Netweaver WEB AS. And when do we have 2004s WEB AS exam? Don't want to take the exam that is going to expire soon.
Appreciate if someone can tell something about this.
    Thank you.

  • Difference between NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 2005?

Although SAP is mentioning it in several presentations, no specific information is (public) available on NetWeaver 2005.
We are looking for arguments to wait with our strategy to switch to NetWeaver 2005, but this means that we have to wait to the beginning of 2006 (at least then we expect it to be GA).
Can anybody tell me if there is information on NetWeaver 2005 available, and if so, where I can get it?
    TIA,
    Jacques Dokter

The reason we are waiting is that we expect a seriously changed architecture. Currently, NetWeaver has only WAS 6.40 as the common component. All applications - in particular OLTP - is still connected using plug-in's.
We have heard that this will change in later releases of NetWeaver where XI will be the plug-in layer.
Also the ESA will be much more mature. But this is only what we have heard.
Up to now, there has not been an official document from SAP that can confirm this.
Oh, and John, NetWeaver 2005 was mentioned during the TechEd 2004 in Munich.

    Jacques

  • Lotus Notes 7.0.1/7.0.2 and SAP Business Workflow

    Hi Everyone!
    Please help me on this.
My client has received an email from IBM that they could have their SAP Connector free of charge if they are to upgrade their current <b>Lotus connector</b> ver5 to <b>version 7.0.2</b>.  This version has included Workflow Integration as part of IBM's integration points with SAP.
Does anyone have an experience on integrating the two?  Please share documents or procedures on how to integrate them.
My current configuration is intended for a <b>1-way communication integration</b>.
I used the report <b>RSWUWFML2</b> for sending notifications (though in my case, it <i>only sends a message that there were workitems present in the recipient's SAP inbox</i>).  The SMTP configuration works fine.  The client has not yet purchased the SAP connector.
If the SAP Connector is now available, the <b>2-way communication</b> will be imposed.
I am planning to configure a 1-way communication integration where it could <b>work either on a 1-way or 2-way communication</b>.  Is this possible?
Can I have a configuration (for sending of workitems to Lotus mail or internet mail) which could have a link that connects the recipient to the transaction for approval or workitem execution?
    Thank you very much experts!!!
    Best regards,
    Reymar

    Hi,
IBM Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions is a set of two technologies that can be used to integrate IBM Lotus Domino and SAP enterprise resource planning software.
Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions facilitates data transfer and access to SAP software from Lotus Domino.
Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions enables Lotus Notes mail users to receive summaries of SAP workflow items in their Lotus Notes in-boxes, from which the open work item can be launched with the click of a button.
The difference between IBM Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions and IBM Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 with MTA and Workflow is revision 1.7.2 of IBM Lotus Connector for SAP R/3 with MTA and Workflow.
Operating system platforms are supported by Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions with Lotus Domino 7 are supported on the following Lotus Domino 7 server platforms:
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server
Microsoft Windows 2003 Server and Server Enterprise Edition
    IBM AIX 5.2 and 5.3
    Sun Solaris 9.0
Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 and 9
    IBM i5/OS V5R3 and V5R4
Releases of Lotus Domino are supported with Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions are Lotus Domino 6.x and higher and Lotus Enterprise Integrator 6.x and higher are supported
Releases of SAP software are supported with Lotus Connector for SAP Solutions
is version 1.7.2 supports SAP R/3 4.6 and higher, including SAP R/3 4.7 Enterprise and SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) 5.0.

  • Lotus Notes and SAP Business Workflow

    Hi Experts!
If you have an experience or if you have SPECIFIC notes on Lotus Notes/SAP Workflow integration, please share some views on these following questions:
    1. The SAP version we are using is ECC6.  The client wants to upgrade their Lotus Notes client to V7.0.1 which caters Workflow integration. <b>Do we need to have the Lotus Connector for this</b>? (Workitem should be processed using the Lotus Notes client and there is a link where the apporover can process the workitem.)
    2. What are the essential technical specifications for this this integration?
        a. Domino Server Platform
        b. Client Platform
        c. Domino Release
        d. Lotus Notes Client version
        e. Product/connector for the link.
    3. What should I use for configuring the notification scenario?
        a. Extended Notifications
        b. RSWUWFML2
        c. SWN_SELSEN
    Please provide answers on these.
Thank you very much.  I'm generous in giving points.
    Regards,
    Reymar

    Hi Akshay!
Am I right to affirm that according to what you've said, <b>there is no Lotus Notes Connector needed</b>  for Lotus Notes and SAP Workflow integration?
I actually haven't tested yet the Extended Notification, but from your reply, I think you are confident enough to tell me that it is possible to have a link in the Lotus Notes mail and then this link could bring you to the Document and process it using,of course, the Extended Notification.
I'm very thankful. Have a nice day. And also, please share some notes on how too use the Extended Notification. (--,)

  • BPM, Workflow and Netweaver - Need Clarification

    Hi Guru,
I am new to workflow, BPM and Netweaver.  I have several questions about those concepts.
    1. What is/are the different between workflow and webflow.  Which scenario should take workflow into consideration? Which scenario webflow can be applied to?
    2. What is/are the different between workflow and BPM.  If I am going to implement workflow in a company, do I need to implement business workflow as well as BPM?
    3. I need clarification on Netweaver platform and concept.
    4. What is/are the different between workflow in R/3 and workflow under Netweaver?
    5. If I am going to implement workflow integrated with R/3 and Outlook email, do I need to buy new wrokflow for Netweaver and Netweaver platform or alternatively, I can use business workflow module under R/3 system?
Sorry for many questions asked. I am new to those products.  I am now working on software selection for workflow technology.  My company is going to implement new workflow to client.  Thank you very much.
    Cheers,

Please ask only one (or closely related) questions per thread. This makes it a lot easier to get a good structure in the database of previously answered questions. While we are on the subject of previously answered questions, I think you should have a look at them....
    My suggestion is therefore:
    1. Close this thread
    2. Read the Frequently Answered Questions. Before you ask (here are many workflow answers)
    3. Search the forum.
    4. Create new threads if you have questions afterwards.

  • How to access Views of ERP with Netweaver BPM?

    Hello,
i want to create an example-application with Netweaver BPM and Visual Composer.
For this, more employees should share the creation of a new Material in an ERP Backend.
Every emplyoee should enter data of a different View of MM01 ! (like Basic Data, Sales..., Purchasing., ..)
I thought about using the Service "Create Material Basic Data" but there are only little options for the data you can enter
    (only InternalID, Base Units, Description...).
So my question is, how can i get access to the usual views of MM01 with Netweaver BPM and Visual Composer?
Or how can i enter more Materialdata with Webservices?
    Thanks for your help,
    Oliver

What you could also do is make use of MDM Webdynpro Components since your intention is probably to update master data at the end you can use MDM Webynpro Components and then use them a webdynpro application. Use the webdynpro component in the BPM Process in return or use the option given in the previous reply as well.

  • Difference between SAP Business Workflow and CRM Workflow

    Hello guys,
Is there any difference between SAP Business Workflow and CRM Workflow?
Are there others workflows types in SAP?
In all SAP Workflow Courses (BIT600, BIT601, BIT603, BIT610) only was talked about SAP Business Workflow, and nothing about CRM Workflow.
    Thanks a lot!
    Kleber

    Hello Kleber,
There is not much of the differance between CRM workflows and SAP Business  workflows..
Workflows are esentially part of Basis (BC) components and hence its the same across all SAP products as all these products have components of Basis(BC) in them...
To Conclude, SAP Busines workflows and CRM workflows are the same things... However when you work on CRM, the BOR objects would be belonging to CRM and not to ECC... However conceptwise , there in no change at all.. If you learn BIT100......, you can also work on CRM workflows..
