Hi Everybody,
I have a small doubt plz clarify it,
1.In netweaver stack at lower level we have ABAP and JAVA
what is the use of this in real time ? and how does these two come in to picture in real time ?

Netweaver AS doubts

Any body please resolve these doubts..Thank you so much in advance
a)A configuration like below is possible
a host with only message server configured.(no instance..(dispatcher etc))?Does it work?Can it(this particular server) be called an application server then?
a)logon load balancing is optional?users can login in directly to dispatcher bypassing messg.server?When does such a scenario arises?Is it still possible when we have multiple instances?
c)In JAVA runtime,is there this logon load balancing.If so how does it happen?JAVA Message service performs the same?
d)Do spool and enqueue process too connected to abap DB schema ?If yes,why?They never communicate with db rite.?

Ans : I think it is not possible

Ans : Yes, Users can directly logon to a specific dispatcher, they need to give the IP address & Instance number in SAPGUI of that instance...there can be many scenarios..for instance..say ..a set of users need to run heavy reports, we can give a single application to those users & change the parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time to 0 of that instance. This is possible even if you have multiple instances.

Ans : Yes , it happens the same way...you can either use sapwebdispacher (Server based Load balancing) or use the standard message server (Client Based load balancing) to distribute the load.

Ans : In ABAP all the info is only in the database so spool wp needs to connect to the database in order to print the requested data

Is their roadmap for the next major release of Netweaver stack?

In the ERP area, I found this link that mentions a roadmap for mySAP ERP2005 and beyond.
Is there a corresponding "beyond NW04s" roadmap? Or is the next major release of Netweaver targeted for 2010 as is the next major mySAP ERP release mentioned in the above mentioned roadmap?

Tobi, I can't go too far into it, but I can assure you that the next major release of Netweaver will not be in 2010. The idea is that you will be able to upgrade your Netweaver layer without upgrading the core(ECC). That means that you can stay current with technology while your business stays the same. So there will be Netweaver releases every so often before 2010.

Installing KM 6.0 SP4 using SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP4 NetWeaver Stack 2

Hi,
I have sucessfully installed Web AS 6.40 and patched it to SP5.
I have also installed EP 6.0 SP4.
Now when i am trying to install KM 6.0 SP4, it hangs at the last step : DEPLOY CM PAR FILES(POST PROCESSING). It doesnt give me any error there on the window but at the same time, there is nothing being processes either.
I waited for almost 30 mins and then killed the process sapinst.exe. I retarted the sapinst.exe and it again stops at the same step.
It does not give me any error in the log files.
Any idea why this happens.

Ok guys, we found it at last !
you do NOT take into account what happens (when installation freezes) and go on your way normaly.
Just Upgrade your KM to SP7 as if nothing happenned.
Then it works ! We found it in note 693969 "Central Note - Installing EP 6.0 SP3 with SAP NW 04 "
I assume it is because every NW components have to have the same level.
Content Management and Collaboration Errors
If during the installation sequence, Knowledge Management and Collaboration has a lower Support Package Stack version than the Portal Platform, the following exception appears on all the Content Management iViews:
"java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.sapportals.wdf.ControllerD ynPage.(Lcom/ssapportals/wdf/ParameterConfiguration;Ljava/lang/Object;)V at com.sapportals.wcm.app.controller.ControllerServlet.getPage(Controlle rServlet.java:64)".
The errors should not appear when Content Management and Collaboration is upgraded to the same Support Package version as the portal.

Support Package Stack NetWeaver vs. ERP

When I use Maintenance Optimizer to get the latest Support Package Stack (13) from my ERP system (ECC 6.0), it does not get the latest kernel and Basis support packages. After applying, the Early Watch report still shows the kernel is out of date. However, if I go through Service Marketplace and get the latest NetWeaver Stack (16), it gets the latest kernel and Basis package. After applying, Early Watch states that the Kernel is up to date. How should the support package stacks for an ECC 6.0 system be applied - both ERP and NetWeaver stacks or ERP stack only which is not the latest?

Hi,
Its Your requirement, So its better you should opt it for.
Mostly the ecc6 would contain all the components even like sap_hr and others,
but your nw stack doesn't have this.
Also you have to select the kernal like you have to make the appropriate settings in the selection page
which will get you the kernal files in the stack.

SAP NetWeaver is a SAP technology platform. In fact it is a bundle of technology components - see list above. Each new release of SAP NetWeaver will contain new versions of these components, it means synchronized release of SAP NetWeaver components. Support Packs are synchronized too, so we have Support Packs stacks including patches of NW components.

Java and ABAP Stack

I am still not clear about role/function of java and abap stack in XI.
Can anybody explain?

Tha ABAP stack consists of the Integration Server which in turn contains your Integration Engine and Business Process Engine.
The J2EE stack contains the Adapter Engine and your IR and ID run on the J2EE engine.
Most of XI pipelines happens in the ABAP stack.
All messsages picked by the Adapter Framework running on the J2EE engine are passed to the Integration Engine, which does the routing. The mapping program again gets executed on the Java stack and the rest of the pipeline servies are executed again on the ABAP stack and so on.

But did you tried http://<HOST Name- FULL FQDN>:50100 ?
Check whether this is working alright if not then it is related to either firewall or some network config issue (e.g. DNS or IP resolution issue).

I am trying to build a proof of concept box (pc cube or laptop) to run in VMWARE for demonstration purposes only.
I am planning to install the following:
+ Solution Manager 4.0
+ ERP 2004 : ECC 5.0
+ Netweaver 7.0 Stack
+ Netweaver Mobile 7.1
+ xMAM 3.0
I still need to do full a sizing investigation, but I need to know the following before I start:
+ Can the ERP and the Netweaver stack be installed in the same VM
+ What version of VMWARE is best for the task?
+ Can I use VMWARE Workstation or Server?
+ RAM allocation for the VM (rough guide)
+ HDD requirements for the VM (rough guide)

SAP Netweaver mobile 7.1 is using the same DVDs as SAP Netweaver PI 7.1. Only difference is that you choose the option for Mobile System when starting the installation in SAPinst.
Everything is included in the installation and no separate installation is required.

NW Mobile 7.10 also called as the Data Orchestration Engine(DOE) is altogether a new platform that is slated to be the successor of MI 7.0. You should be able to see the NW Mobile 7.10 installation in the SAP service market place and its part of SAP_BASIS 7.10 packaging. It is now generally available in market.
We mean that SAP NETWEAVER AS ABAP 7.1 is released and in the same netweaver stack , Netweaver mobile 7.1 is also available.
To install an SAP system or parts of an SAP system , SAP NETWEAVER AS ABAP 7.1 DVD is available .Usage type Mobile requires Application Server ABAP and there isnt any seperate installation unit for DOE(server side) alone.
But if you want to use the default mobile client with DOE, then additional installable units are required(SAP GUI for windows/ SAP GUI for Java,netweaver developer studio(part of nw CE 7.1) and sap netweaver mobile client 7.1 )
NW mobile 7.1 is seen as a product with stable archietecture that is scalable .
