Geeks,
Any idea where I can download NetWeaver Studio?
I learned that I may need a WebAS also to run a Netweaver studio.
Where can I get those?
I already have PDK 5.0 up and running in my laptop.
Pls help.

JsfOpenAdmin failed: object not found.
However I can start and stop the server from the management console.

Maybe when you are on netweaver studio, the instance number passed is the java one instead of the abap instance one :

Error while working in NetWeaver studio

Hi all,
While working in NetWeaver studio i am getting the following error.
"A SWT error has occured"
It is recommended to exit the workbench
Subsequent errors may happen and may terminate the workbench with out warning
See error log for more details
Exit Workspace "
Followed by Yes and No buttons
So the workbench is getting closed and interrupting my work.
Can anyone plz help me out

Hi Padma,
There is one folder named .metadata it is in uour workspace.
1. Close your NWDS.
2. copy .metadata folder from your workspace to somewhere else.
3. delete .metadata folder from your workspace.
4. start your NWDS.
this process will start configuring your NWDS from initial level.

Error in project creation using Netweaver studio

Hi all,
I am trying to create a new Composite Application Services project using Netweaver studio 7.011. When it came to the final step of the Project creation wizard, an error message pop-up saying "Problem when creating project".
I have tried the methods posted in the forums, but its doesn't work for me.

Can advise on how to resolve this?
I am currently using Java 1.4.10 and NW2004s SP11.

HTML page generated by Netweaver studio is very big

Hi,
Is there any way to make the generated HTML pages (when developing a web dynpro application from Netweaver studio) smaller in size ?
It appears to be big even for a very simple hello world page.

Import ess web dynpro to netweaver studio

Hi guys,
I want to import an web dynpro application, esstratre, to my netweaver studio. The source can be found in my WAS j2ee server, there are a zip file. But the zip file is not a valid netweaver studio project and can't import to netweaver studio directly, how can i import the source to my IDE?

Debug IPC using NetWeaver Studio

Hello,
Does anybody know how can I debug my local IPC using NetWeaver studio? I tried to launch dispatcher.bat or server.bat from NetWeaver but gives out the error.
I would really appreciate any inputs.

Hi, what exactly do you want to do ? I suppose that your IPC application is not meant to be run locally, so if you want to do this, you will need to create a new Java Class that can be run locally (so it needs to be a class that have the "public static void main(String[] args)" method in it). For more info, see Sun web site.
Then you should be able to call the different methods of the IPC application.
And to debug, you need to go to the Debug perspective, and create a new debug session for your application and place some breakpoint where needed.

Deployment with Netweaver Studio with firewall.

Hello to all.
I´m initiating in Netweaver world, and in the next 30 days, I´m going to do certify mysel as a J2EE netweaver developer. Right now, I´m having some issues do deploy my Java code from a computer through a firewall from outside my lan. I have opened all 50000-50020, I´m also opened ports 3201 and 3900 (message server). I tested everything with remote gui, and everything works fine.
Problem is, when I try to deploy something from my Netweaver Studio, I receive a message, telling me it´s not possible to connect to server . As long as I´m a newbie in SAP, I need some directions to perform such configuration.

first, this has absolutely nothing to do with the inclusion of the sources. Including the sources is only for providing the possibility for example for a customer to change the implementation (without decompiling etc). It has no technical meaning except the given.
Second, one can only mark an iView as iView template if one could create the iView! So also your second hint, Kirupanand, doesn not make any sense. A deployed portal app consists of components (and/or services), from which "instances" can be created (these are: iViews); such an instance can be marked as template. No iView, no template.
Third, the non-appearance may have the reason that the application has been restricted in it's permissions, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f6/2604e505fd11d7b84200047582c9f7/frameset.htm - "Administrator Permissions" "For portal components" - for details (you must have at least the read permission for the application in question; that means under System Administration - Permissions - Portal Permissions - Applications - <YourApp>).

Unable to deploy from Netweaver studio after changing hostname

Hi All,
After following the SAP note 757692 to change the hostname for J2EE Engine 6.40, we are getting error message " Error: There is no control instance running in the cluster" in the SDM log when trying to deploy an app from netweaver studio. We have change the setting in netweaver studior to point to the new server etc ...
1. We noticed that in the SDM log, it seem to still looking at the old hostname (clttst1) instead of the new host name (apple)
2. We have to change the hostname because of the cluster environment.
3. I checked the trace file dev_ms and found the following messge " MsHttpInit: full qualified hostname = clttst1.rta.nsw.gov.au" , i.e. still pointing back to the old hostname.
I have made all the neccessary changes base on the SAP note 757692, i.e. message server name etc ...
Any advices / help are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help, I can connect to SDMserver using RemoteGui fine, the default hostname in the login screen is my "new" hostname.
But when the developer try to deploy the apps from Netweaver studio, getting error and the SDM log indicating that it is still using the old hostname.

The error message in the SDM log as follow :

As you can see from the log, it is still looking at clttst1 ...

Can't create dictionary project in eclipse as in Netweaver Studio

Hi All,
I was able to create a dictionary project in netweaver studio of SAP. I was able to create tables and archive it to create SDA.
Similarly I want to create the same in eclipse. Do we need any special plugin for this in eclipse? Or do we have any option in creating this?

Have you set the JAVAFX_HOME environment variable as specified?
Maybe it should have been set by the JavaFX installer, but otherwise, I don't see that as a kludge from the Eclipse plug-in point of view, as if it is not set, I don't see how it could guess the location.
And well, if you are afraid of bugs and workarounds, you should avoid JavaFX, indeed, at least until next year... :-)
The platform is still a bit green; some even say it is still beta but I find it, and lot of other people too, already very usable.

BAPI Function module : Unable to search from Netweaver Studio

Hallo,
I developed a small BAPI Function module GetCarList etc using the tutorial <a href="http://www.sappoint.com/abap/bapiintro.pdf">Introduction to BAPIs</a> . This ofcourse is also available in help.sap.com for GetFlightList etc.
Steps Followed :
-o developed RFC based Function Module. (BAPI supported)
-o activated it, released it.
-o created a alias in the BAPI explorer, added API methods, parameters and released all of them
After i activated and released the function module, i could see it in the BAPI Explorer (Transaction SWO1) as released( ready to be used). But when i tried to search it from Netweaver Studio (to import it as a WebDynpro Model) i could not find it.
-o checked if the BAPI method is available or not in the BAPI Explorer list. (it is available and released)
-o Tried to import BAPI Func.Module - like 'GetFlightList' of Table SFLIGHT (comes with SAP examples), [ but could not] .
I have no idea what the problem could be. do let me know.

i did check the SE37 or SE80 transaction to find out whether the current module is Remote call enabled or not. Adn well it was already RFC set. I have no idea what had happened in the last week, today it works. Now i can import the function module into netweaver. anyways thanks Achim for the support.

Does SAP IDES 4.7 comes with SAP WAS ? If so, how to connect WAS through Netweaver studio?
I have installed Netweaver studio, do I need to install SAP J2ee Engine (WAS) ? or can i use the one which is packed along with SAP IDES 4.7 ?

When i execute the T.Code : SMICM, I could see Adminstration ->J2ee Server -> stop and restart options.
I could even see a http service running at 8010, but when i tried accessing http://localhost:8010 it is asking for SAP Web Application Server user crenditials. What is the default user credentials ? This make sence that WAS is intalled.

i am using SAP Netweaver Developer Studio.have created a normal java project and i want to create web service for one of the classes in this project. i used the Web Service Creation Wizard to create a web service for this class. but it says there's no methods available for VI. all my methods in this class are public, what should i do?

I guess there are other ways. But this is an easy way, if you find the right wizards.
Besides this it is good practise to define interface methods so that session bean implement these interface methods, and thus seperate the interface from the implementation.
In this approach you will need 3 projects:
An enterprise application project (will contain EJB Module)
An EJB Module project (will contain session bean)
A Java project (contains code that implements the session bean methods)
In my previous post I suggested to use a J2EE web mudule project. This was a mistake, it should be EJB module.
But it should be possible to do it in another way. It is up to you.

Unable to install JDT example plugins in NetWeaver Studio

I am using the SAP Web AS (Java 6.40) Sneak Preview Edition and am having a problem installing the JDT example plugins in the NetWeaver Developer Studio WorkBench.
I have followed the instructions given in the 'Java Development User Guide' of the WorkBench online help (Getting Started >>Basic Tutorial>>Preparing the Workbench >>Installing the JDT Example Plugins) :
1. I have downloaded the Examples zip file (eclipse-examples-2.1.2-win32.zip ) from www.eclipse.org/downloads
2. The zip file has been extracted to the root Eclipse directory, C:\Program Files\SAP\JDT\eclipse\ while ensuring that the WorkBench is not running.
3. However, after restarting the Workbench, there is no message indicating that the updates have been detected. Moreover, when I navigate to File > New > Example.. in the WorkBench, I don't see any examples which have been installed.
Please advise on the correct procedure for installing the JDT example plugins in the WorkBench.

Thanks for the reply. I have followed your instructions but am still unable to install the Eclipse plugins and examples. While importing, if I point to the Eclipse base folder where I have unzipped the downloaded file, none of the examples/plugins are recognized.
I would like to emphasize that the examples to which I was referring in my earlier note are not the standard examples which are delivered alongwith the SAP Web AS Sneak Preview installation. I am trying to install the examples which have been downloaded from the Eclipse website. These have been described in the WorkBench online help in the following section :
Platform plugin Developer Guide > Examples Guide > Installing examples manually..
The examples are Address Book, Clipboard, File Viewer etc.
I understand that the prerequisite for this is the installtion of the Eclipse plugins. As described in my earlier email, I have followed the instructions but the Workbench is not being updated with the Eclipse plugins.
