I would like to know how I can combine these skills to get a break in SAP. I am basically a network engineer.
I am not sure if this question is relevant in this forum. However I need some career advice and I appreciate all the help.

  • BPC Netweaver Landscape question

    Hi
    Technical question:
BPC NW has got two components  = A Netweaver server and a Windows server.
Does anyone know if you can run this all the same Windows server? e.g Netweaver is running on the .Net server that you're using for BPC.
Edited by: Wouter van Schalkwyk on May 15, 2009 4:20 AM

    Hi,
In general Netweaver needs 64 bit machine and BPC needs 32 bit machine, so need to have two servers. but with some settings in IIS (mentioned in Install guide) you can make BPC (.net server) work with 64 bit machine. So you can have both Netweaver and BPC in one 64 bit machine.

  • NetWeaver JavaStack - NetWeaver Upgrade Question

    Hello Gurus,
Please ignore I sound little uninitiated in this.
This is about the so called JavaStack upgrade after (?) the technical upgrade.
    - What exactly is the so called Javastack in netweaver? It is not same as 'Usage Type' Java? Is this AS Java?
    - What is the right time to do the JavaStack Upgrade? After technical upgrade?
    - How much after tech upgrade? 2-3 weeks are ok? Will the new features of BI 7 not be available till we upgrade the javastack?
    - Without upgrdaing to Javastack, will NONE of the new functionalities be available in BI 7.0?
    Please help.
    Regards
    Manish Madhav

    In continuation
To use any web based components, including the 2004s Web Application Designer, Report Designer, or Web Analyzer, you need to have BI-JAVA usage type installed.
You can still use the 2004s BEx Analyzer (Excel) without the BI-JAVA usage type.
When you install BI JAVA, it will have its own EP and AS JAVA usage types under it. You have no option with this as they are required to run BI JAVA (just like you have AS ABAP under the BI usage type).
It is recommended that you have all 4 usage types installed (AS-ABAP, AS-JAVA, EP, and BI-JAVA) as this is required for full functionality. These can be on a single system or can be 2 separate systems:
    1 system:
    System (AS-ABAP, AS-JAVA, BI-JAVA, EP)
    2 systems:
    System (AS-ABAP)
    System (AS-JAVA, BI-JAVA, EP)

  • Netweaver CE question.

    Hi everybdy,
Does the Netweaver CE have the Abap stack? or it only has the Java stack?
Which are the differences between Netweaver CE and Netweaver?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Fernando,
As you stated there's one central instance with one ore more Java instances which all share one database. Here's a brief architecture overview

  • How to do Post Install SAP Cryptographic in Netweaver CE 7.1 to enable SSL?

    Dear all,
I have install sap netweaver CE7.1 and SSM 7.5.
During installation netweaver CE7.1, i didn't tick install SAP Crytographic Library, and after that NWCE setup, now i want to install Crytographic file that i have download.
here picture during setup nwce: http://i54.tinypic.com/jio0as.png
So how to Install SAP Cryptographic in Netweaver CE 7.1 to enable SSL, without again reinstall NWCE 7.1?
    thank for any answers,

    Chamnap,
Even though NetWeaver CE is a required piece for running Strategy Management, for a specific NetWeaver CE question you need to go to the NetWeaver experts, not SSM.
I suggest that you close this question on this Forum and repost it on the
    NetWeaver Security Forum: Security
You might want to take a look through the other NetWeaver Forums - /community [original link is broken]
you can do a search to see if there are any postings that cover the same areas. I am just guessing that the Security Forum would be the best place. After reviewing the choices, you may see a better area.
Please don't repost this question on multiple Forums, as that is a violation of Forum rules.
And please close this question, as you can only have so many questions open at any one time.
    Regards,
    Bob

  • If I am able to Install NetWeaver, does it means I already pay for it?

I was working with business process documentation #132 Reporting with SAP Business Explorer, and it requires the activation of SAP NetWeaver
My question is if I do activate NetWeaver, SAP is going to charge me extra than we are already paying, or if the options are available to activate it in our current installation, does it mean we already pay for it?
    Thank you,
    Carlos

No is not charged extra, SAP wont charge extra for any configuration already available in your installation.

  • Netweaver Basics

    Hi Friends,
Iam very very new to Netweaver technology ........
So can anyone explain me in very basic terms to the following questions ...
    1. What is Netweaver ?
    2. What is the difference bet NW 2004 and NW2004s?
    3. Is it mandatory to know JAVA language to sustain with NW technologies? or ABAP itself is enough ?
    4. If JAVA is essential ...where to start with ?
Hmm .... yeah these are the questions as of now
    Expecting responses ...
    Cheers
    Kripa Rangachari .....
I dont know where to post the Netweaver general questions ;(

    2. What is the difference bet NW 2004 and NW2004s?

    3. Is it mandatory to know JAVA language to sustain with NW technologies? or ABAP itself is enough ?
Its all depend in which stack you want to fit. If you want to go into EP, then JAVA is must. In XI having knowledge of JAVA will be highly useful and in other Netweaver stack it will be an added advantage. Anyhow ABAP is not enough to sustain with NW technologies.
    <a href="http://www.sap.com/platform/netweaver/standardssupport/java.epx">Netweaver and JAVA</a>
    4. If JAVA is essential ...where to start with ?
Core JAVA, J2EE in full is needed for Netweaver. As where to start is concern you can start with core JAVA and consequencely go thorugh J2EE.
I hope this will help you out.

  • Some doubts using abap

    Dear experts,
I have used functionmodule as RFCs to fetch data from SAP
using java/jco.Here i realised that all work has to be done in sap itself.Java is just a platform to fetch that object and show me the data.
However i wish to know can i use native java platform itself
ie only  jdk installalation with jco to write reports and fetch output just as i work in se38.
Is there any separate java library for this where i can use joins ,pass querys just as i do in normal abap.
Am i close to netweaver ,these questions are alway budding in my mind
    Regards,
    Aditya Sharma

This is an area that I've gone changed my view on over the years.
When Netweaver was first introduced with it's dual stack (ABAP and Java) I was frustraited that you couldn't access the ABAP DB Schema from the Java side of the stack.  The architecture (which you can get aroudn if you really want to, but I wouldn't reccommend it) forces you to use either RFCs or WebService calls to access data on the ABAP stack from the Java stack.
As time has gone on though I have realized that this is actually a good setup from an architecture perspective because it forces you into a seperation of concerns where your ABAP modules are implimenting a buisenss object layer around the data in the ERP system.  Additionally if you are building a composite application that combines SAP functionality with that of services provided by other applications then this actaully keeps some architectural purity to it becuase the SAP ABAP system is treated the same as any other system that it is utilizing.
So my recomendation would be to stick with service calls accross the stacks and not direct DB access.  In the end you'll have applications that are architected better.

  • WRITE_BACK BADI for Parent Level Data Save

    Hi Experts,
I am using write back badi for Parent level data saving in BPC 10, but my requirement is to save data at parent level for time period 2007.Q1 without segregating at corresponding base members level.
Is it possible so? if yes , please suggest.

  • SAP Connections

I have been having some serious problems trying to get a connection to SAP from the SAPNetweaver.  I have done some research, but nothing solved my problem.  There are a lot of different notes out there, but no simple explanation on how to get it to work.
I would like this Message to be the "End All" for questions regarding SAP connections and I hope all of you can help.  "No Links", man am I tired of trying to follow the secondary links.  Just full explanations.  No links to the SAP Developers Manual, every description was just short of having enough information.
    PLEASE HELP.
    Here is the scenario:
I have applications that require connections to SAP BAPIs.  I want the people that are accessing these applications to run the BAPIs with there own credentials. I have the SAP Netweaver installed, but am using an older SAP EIS.  I was using Tomcat with the JCO classes.  I had to create a different connection for each call, but was able to pass the users credentials from a login page that I created.  Now I am porting the application to Netweaver.
    Questions:
    1) What is SAPs preferred connection to BAPIs if I want to pass the credentials of the user to run the BAPIs?
    JCO, JRA, Other?

sapjcorfc.dll already loaded in another classloader
I don't know if this is 100% accurate statement, but here it is anyway.
The error above came from me including the JCO.jar within my application as an "External JAR".  When I referenced it only, then I was able to use the JCO classes as I did when I was using TOMCAT.
To add to the post above, I ust wanted to give a step by step on adding the reference to JCO.jar to your application so that you can program using it, but not having it be added to your application JAR.
    Prerequisites:
    1)  Web Module Created
    Steps:
    1)  Right click on Web Module and select "Properties"
    2)  Within the "Java Build Path" selection on the left side, Choose the "Library" tab.
    3)  Click the "Add Variable" button.
    4)  Click the "WD_RUNTIME" folder once and then click on the "Extend" button.
    5)  Expand the following directories:
    ->com.sap.mw.jco
    ->lib
    6) Select the sapjco.jar and click on the "OK" button.

  • Urgent: Implement Workflow with BPM

    Dear Guru,
Currently using SAP R/3 V4.7, we are going to implement SAP Business Workflow (and integrates with external applications including Email) together with SAP Netweaver.
    Question:
Do I need to implement BPM Engine and SAP XI as part of the project? Please give me a clear explanation regard this matter. Which version of application would you recommend. Thank you very much.
    Best Regard,

    Hi Naveen,
Thank you for your answer.  Therefore, only SAP Business Workflow is enough for getting my job done, isn't it?  However, if I need more integration, apart from email, with external systems such as customer and partner systems, I must run SAP XI and BPM engine.  Do my understanding is correct from your answer?  So, what is the main purpose of BPM engine related to SAP Business Workflow?  Thank you very much.
    Best Regards,

  • Iview Height and vertical scroll

    Hello,
      EP 6.  NetWeaver 4 question.
We have several iviews on a page.  They are simple Dynpage with beans/JSP rendering HTML.  We would like to limit the Height of each Iview and then have a vertical scroll bar automatically appear to allow the user to scroll the the iview.
Had no trouble doing this in EP5.  Nothing we try seems to work in EP6.
      Any ideas?

    Hi Gary
What is your page setting for the Iviews is it fixed or full page or Automatic.
Select the Iview as fixed and set some value and preview the same in the Page. In the page only you will be able to see the iView size.
