Network access and internet

Is it possible to allow network acces to devices and to internet only for domain clients? So if someone brings his personal laptop to work and connect it by cable to network he can not acces nothing on network or internet?
Solution with proxy is not good for me, so I am searching for something else.
I never left an open problem....I search, dig and ask, until it's solved....

Hi,
>>Is there a way to lock just DNS to AD clients?
Before going further, how was our network set up? Do we use DHCP to automatically assign IP addresses to clients? If we use DHCP server to automatically assign IP addresses, the computers connected to the network will automatically get
their IP address and DNS server IP address if we don't have a network protection mechanism to restrict which computer can get IP address from DHCP server. In this situation, although we know that you don't want to use Network Access Protection to do this,
as far as I know, this should be the solution which can best meet our target.
Besides, for this is more related to network, in order to get better help, we can also ask for suggestions in the following network forum.

  • How can my network access the Internet?

    Hi all,
All in GNS3 lab scenario I created.
Hope anybody can shed light on this matter.  I have for example a multi area OSPF domain.  Like all of my remote sites are in area x, y, and z and all connects to area 0, in the area 0 I have this ASBR 7200 that has an EBGP peer to R1 (ISP) that connects to R2 and R2 connects to R3, which in turn R3 connects back to my ASBR 7200.
I would like to know how can I reach all of the BGP subnets being advertised by R1 (basically the internet) from my remote sites in area x, y and z?  As you can see in the topology I am using obviously RFC 1918 addresses on my network and I used all public IP addresses on the BGP routers.  I would like to know how I can reach all those for example all 500,000 routes in order for my remote sites to access the internet?  I can't redistribute BGP into my OSPF (since it will break).  I tried configuring the subnets on my remote sites on the ASBR 7200 using network command, and the BGP routers can see those subnets, but inside my network I cannot see the subnet that I have created in R3 (pretending it's an internet site).  What seems to be missing in my config in the ASBR?
    Please any inputs gladly appreciated.
Please remove configuration in 3RD_PARTY-7200-ASBR router, I would like to know how can my local sites see loopback 99.99.99.0 in R3 without redistribution into OSPF...
     redistribute bgp 65535 subnets

Yes you will need to NAT at some point to go from private to public address space. Here is a basic configuration if you are interested:
    interface F8
    ip nat inside
    interface G0
    ip nat outside
    ip access-list standard NAT
     permit 192.168.11.0 0.0.0.255
ip nat inside source list NAT interface G0 overload

  • Network profile and Internet sharing

    Hi,
In the network System preference applet there is the possibility to create network profiles for different environement, ex: Home, work, etc.
In sharing preferences includes the Internet sharing as well.
Is it possible to attach a Network profile to an Internet sharing configuration?
What I'm trying to do is to have an Internet sharing profile when I want to share my Airport card in ad-hoc mode (to share with my Newton), but when I'm finished, I do want to switch back to the normal Airport operation so I can use my PB in wireless mode.
So, I need a way to bind the 2 together without having to reconfigure all my network preferences all the time.
    Thanks

    Hi,
What you suggested, is exactly what I've been trying and is not working.
    I think your mistaken:
Location are great to create new network profiles, true. You can't access them from the Airport menu, but from the Apple menu in the submenu location.
The problem is that this does not include the Internet sharing preferences, located into the Sharing preferences pane. So, switching location does not switch Internet sharing preferences. You have to disable and enable them each time.
So, that's not the solution I'm searching for, unless you know some way to bind the 2 seting into a location.
    Thanks

  • RRAS VPN performance and Internet access which connecting to RRAS VPN

For the first time, I setup win2008R2 RRAS VPN(L2TP and SSTP ) in Azure VM for my client.
I am running Package Application which include SQL2008 in that  VM.
I plan that remote user connect from client application using RRAS VPN to Application server in Azure VM.
But I am worrying about the performance bottle net due to network speed reason.
I am not yet make sure network environment of my client ( my client is living in USA ).
    1
But if we decide to use RRAS VPN for that application , which kind of VPN(PPTP,L2TP,SSTP,IKE) will be better in network speed?
    2
I noticed that which connecting to RRAS VPN, I could not connect to the Internet from remote client PC.
Is there any way to enable RRAS VPN access and Internet access at same time ?

    Hi,
    1. PPTP is the easiest protocol to use for setting up VPN. And it have minimal security.
L2TP/IPSec, SSTP and IKEv2 was more security than PPTP.
IKEv2 can provide a secured uninterrupted ubiquitous VPN connectivity.
Here are good article about comparing four types of VPN,
Different VPN tunnel types in Windows - which one to use?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/rrasblog/archive/2009/01/30/different-vpn-tunnel-types-in-windows-which-one-to-use.aspx
    2. Two common scenarios cause the problem that connected client can’t browse the Internet. First, the VPN server might not let remote clients access the Internet when they have a connection. In this case, when we close the VPN connection,
the client can browse the Internet because the default gateway reverts to the gateway that ISP defines. Second, Windows might overwrite the ISP gateway with the VPN server-defined gateway when the client connects, so the client has no path to the Internet.
We may need to uncheck the use default gateway on remote network to solve this problem.

  • Homehub losing network access

    Good morning,
I recently took out a contract with BT for unlimited broadband - everything has been set up but i am having problems with my homehub.
When it works the speed is great but i am constantly losing network access. Initially i was connecting to the homehub wirelessly from my laptop. After doing some google research regarding the issue i have tried updating drivers, deleting network connections from windows 7 and doing a full reset of the homehub. I was still constantly losing network access, requiring multiple restarts of the router to get it back again.
I then decided to try using an ethernet cable on both my laptop and also my desktop. I am getting the exact same problem whereby i contantly lose network access and have to restart the router a few times to get it back. It will then lose access again, sometimes after 10mins, sometimes it can be a few hours.
I also tried using a Linksys router that i have but i cannot get internet access with it even though i think i have entered my bt broadband username correctly.
Any suggestions on other things i could try would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    James.

  • No network access-No access to save office products

I have a nice little problem with a laptop on our network. It will not let the end user open or save any office documents to the local laptop when logging in with her domain profile. It only occurs when she has no access to the domain controller. I have tried to remove her local profile and domain profile and no luck. We are using roaming profile and even tried to disable that and still no luck. I know it dont sound like a big problem but when this user is not in her office and needs to use this laptop on the road it will be a HUGE problem for me. Any suggestions would be awesome as to what i can try. The laptop even got rebuilt and still the same issue. Even tried to make the end user part of the local admin group and issue still remains. I will be more than happy to give more details if asked for. I just cant think of anything else...

    Hi there,
I seem to be having a very annoying issue with Windows 7 RC. Everytime I restart my PC I get the litte exclamation mark (!) and when I move my mouse over the icon it says "No Network Access" and sometimes unidentified connection.
Then, if I disable my network card and enable it again it works right away... so...
Last night I tried reinstalling because I did not have this problem at first so I thourgt maybe it was me that have done something wrong... However when I reinstalled it was working fine until I installed Microsoft updates and then office 2007 updates.
Could this have anything to do with the office updates?
My system info is as follows:
    GA-X48-DQ6 Motherboard
    8 GB Kingston HyperX RAM
    2x Realtek Gigabit 8111C Family
    x64-Bit Windows 7
Do Anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this?
Try to edit network address from:
Start\Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections then Right-Click on Local Area Connection then click on properties then choose Configure...
Under Property: in the Advanced tab choose Network Address then under Value: write down your MAC Address Which Appear while your Internet Connection Present then click on OK and see the result

  • "wake for network access" not working

    Hi guys,
I enabled System Preferences > Energy saver > Wake for network access
    and
System Preferences > Sharing > remote Login
These are the exact settings I had under Snow Leopard and it used to wake my iMac via 5GHz WiFi. I use a AirPort Extreme and didn't change a thing on its side. But neither with VNC nor with my iPad app "Screens" I am able to wake it under Lion. Screens tells me "Computer in sleep mode"...
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bado

I've been having problems with wake for network access on Lion as well. Similarly to others, if my iMac has recently gone into sleep mode, then it will wake up for Apple TV use or for file and screen sharing from another computer. After an extended period of time, however, all such functionality disappears.
I've been rooting around in System Profile and have found something that may be of interest. Under the Hardware section, in the Power menu, there is a parameter called 'PrioritizeNetworkReachabilityOverSleep'. On both my iMac and Macbook this is set to zero (i.e. 'no').
Does anybody have any idea what it means? And if there is any way to change it? If I had to guess, it sounds as though there is a setting somewhere in the system configuration (thought apparently not visible from the GUI) that sets the computer to remain in sleep mode rather than briefly waking to maintain its registration with the relevant Bonjour sleep proxies.
Hopefully we'll be able to get to the bottom of this, as over six months after Lion's release the problem has yet to be resolved by Apple through version updates, something that is especially frustrating given how excellent a feature wake on network access is when it can be reliably coupled with an Apple TV or Back to my Mac.

  • Is there a way to restrict the network access of an application?

Is there a way to restict the network access of an application? In other words, is there a way to guarantee that an application will only operate in offline mode?

Well, more than just knowing if an application will work in offline mode, I'm interested in whether there's a way to forcibly the revoke network access of an application. For example, I don't think something like an epub reader should have network access and I want to insure it does not communicate to an external server.

  • Air app-storage swf network access

I have an swf file that is saved in the app-storage
directory, and it’s compiled with “allow network
access”, and it reads an xml file from a webserver.
When I load this file into an swfloader in my air app, it
throws up the “this file is trying to connect”
    notification box.
Even if I add the path in the security settings, it refuses
    to work.
Is there any way to let it communicate and read the xml file?

It should be the application directory, not the storage directory.

  • Networks will "connect" over Wifi, but DNS resolution is impossible and I can't access the internet.

My OSX 10.7.5 iMac (late 2011) will connect to my university's wireless network and thinks it's connected to the internet, but cannot resolve any DNS - and cannot actually access the internet on any browser or internet-utilising app. My university has 2 networks, a regular wifi one and an eduroam one. I have the same problem on both networks. My MacBook, running Snow Leopard, and my iPad (latest software) both connect to both networks just fine.
Because it's my university's network, i can't reset my router or anything like that. I'm in halls. I don't think it's a network issue, because all my other devices are fine.
I've searched high and low on these forums but haven't found anyone having exactly the same problem as me - I've heard of odd few minutes of people losing their connections in this manner, but my computer's been down now for hours and nothing. I've restarted it many times, even once in "Recovery Mode" and I'm getting nothing. I've followed instructions to flush my DNS cache, renew DHCP leases, I've tried manually inputting various DNSes I've found (eg the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 google ones), none of which have worked.
Using terminal, I can't ping either an http:// domain, or an IP address. Both get "timed out" as a response. I can't access the internet on any browser (chrome, safari, firefox), my google mail notifier, Skype, or my twitter app. Or anything else.
I'm relatively computer literate, but I'm not particularly code-savvy, so I'd really appreciate it if I could get some step-by step help on here, bearing in mind what I've already tried. I'm really worried, because it all seems to have happened completely out of the blue. Last time I updated was some time a couple weeks ago; I update whenever my software update beeps at me.

  • I am currently having problems accessing a network connection.  I have reset my IPAD network connections and am still having a problem.  I know that it is not my network because I can access the internet on my laptop computer.

In any event, if your OS X version is 10.7.x, download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Lion:
    Lion: AirPort Utility 5.6.
If your OS X version is 10.5.x or 10.6.x, download and install AirPort Utility 5.5.3:
Leopard, Snow Leopard: AirPort Utility 5.5.3.
After you install the appropriate version of AirPort Utility, open it. The program will be located in your Utilities folder, which in turn is found in your Applications folder.
To open the Utilities folder, go to the Finder and select "Utilities" from the Go menu:

... but make sure you use the version of AirPort Utility you just downloaded.
Launch AirPort Utility and select your Time Capsule. Click Manual Setup, then the Guest Menu tab, then you can elect to disable the guest network, or to establish whatever security settings you want.
The window looks somewhat like this:
If your version of AirPort Utility does not look anything like that, you are probably not using the one you just downloaded. Find it and start over.
When you are finished configuring your Time Capsule, click Update and allow the Time Capsule to restart.
