Network adapter replace

Hello,
I have a hp pavilion 15-p030nr PN G6R14UA. I just got a duel band router and I can't connect to 5ghz. I know now that this laptop can only connect to a 2.4. My question is can I replace the network card with a duel band card. And if so do you have any recommendations.
Thank you
This question was solved.

  • DM1 list of problems after 1 year - bad network adapter, touchpad, and headphone jack

I have a HP Pavilion DM1-3020 US laptop with Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium, 3 GB RAM.
After completing a factory re-install, I still have the following issues, after purchasing this computer only a year ago:
    1) The network adapter simply stopped working, not sure if it shorted out or what. The wifi works, but the computer cannot detect or connect to an ethernet cable
    2) The touchpad went off randomly and comes back on randomly. There is an orange light that indicates when it is off.
    3) If i plug in headphones, music still plays through the speakers as though it doesn't know there are headphones, or it comes in and out between the speakers/headphones.
This computer seems to be plagued with issues, and I would like the above issues addressed, and the computer fixed or replaced.

If you do not have a warranty with HP, they will not do anything for you unfortunately.
This is a user to user forum, contact HP directly if you feel they can do something for you, sorry about your troubles.

  • Windows 7 x64 Network Adapter Stops working on high load

My Network has been failing and it has been happening for about a month or so on Windows 7 x64.  I dont think that the system configuration is the problem as it is happening on 2 seperate machines.  One being a relatively beefed up "white" box, 4 gig OCZ ram, EVGA nForce 790I SLI Mobo, Q9600 Quad core processor, dual raid 1 - 150 Gig Raptors, 2 8800GTX SLI cards, Pure Power 800W PS.  The second machine is an IBM Netbook S10.  I use the Netbook as a media center connected to a Pioneer Elite 1050HD.  One thing is I have a PS3 and have several 1TB Esata drives connected to an IOGear 3132 Esata 3.0Gb pciX card to my desktop.
    My typical usages:
    1. FTP from a private server
    2. Streaming music via Winamp
    3. Streaming video 720, 1080 from pc to PS3 via the PS3 Media Server
    4. DLing demos or movies on the PS3
    5. Network streaming a movie from the Esata drives to the bedroom or kids rooms
    6. Streaming video from abc.com or southparkstudios.com from the Cox cable modem
    7. RDC over VPN to work machines
Now I have noticed that when I am streaming HEAVILY, from any 2 of the above mentioned, my network connections will simply stop working with a yellow exclamation mark on the task bar network icon after a few moments, nothing in the event logs, no logs or ANYTHING at all.  It will simply stop working no notifications or anything poof, gone.  I have EVERY single patch, driver anything I can think of installed.  Nothing works, the timing is completely random.  FYI I have a NETGEAR ProSafe VPN Firewall FVX538 with a cable modem connection on WAN 1 and a cellular connection on WAN2, these have no impact I feel on the connections because the PC may go down or the Netbook will go down depending on which one has the most load.  So this simply tells me that it it not a firewall router problem as I have tried using a cisco unmanaged 24 port 1GB switch and I get the same problems.  From analyzing the systems and layout I am led to believe that it is either a network adapter driver OR a Windows 7 problem (collisions, unhandled exception?), this NEVER happened with XP or Vista.  I have tried everything but a new network adapter, I have tried the secondary adapter card on the mobo, I have tried bridging the two, I have tried daisy chaining the switch and putting each machine on its own dedicated switch linked to each other with no change.  When the network goes down it is only that box effected, all other machines still connect to each other fine, only the one with load shuts down and the only ones that shut down are Windows 7.  These machines are all wired with commercial cat5e patch cables, they have all been swapped for new ones lately.  All networking and PC equipment are on UPS so I doubt voltage variations.  Windows Firewall is disabled I only use the hardware firewall, I do not use any antivirus.
I am completely out of options, can anyone recommend a new route?
In addition when I go to the command prompt and attempt to do an ipconfig /release.  I get an error saying that the adapter is not in a usable state.  Very irritating, this forces me to reboot, or right click disable/enable on the network adapter.  The right click route takes almost a minute to complete.
Tried update driver in nvidia control panel, no luck.  I have also turned off the networking power saver option in the adapter settings.

    Hi,
Considering this issue occurs on 2 different machines, I also think this issue may be more hardware related. You may also try the following:
    1.    If the computers are connecting to a router, please ensure the router’s firmware is up-to-date.
    2.    Please run the following command in an elevated command prompt in Windows 7:
netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
netsh int ip set global taskoffload=disabled
    3.    Disable SNP in Windows 7 by setting Registry as following:
Note: Please perform a full-system backup first.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]
    EnableTCPChimney=dword:00000000
    EnableTCPA=dword:00000000
    EnableRSS=dword:00000000
If the keys do not exist, please create them and assign the value.
An update to turn off default SNP features is available for Windows Server 2003-based and Small Business Server 2003-based computers
    4.    If the issue persists, please add another network adapter to this computer and see how it works.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi, I'm experiencing a simular problem here.
My PC was using Asus P5Q-E motherboard but exchanged it for Asus P5Q TURBO Pro because it loses 'connectivity ' after an interval between a few hrs to 26hrs. During this state, I can't browse or my Outlook to check emails. The only thing that can send/receive data is Vuze. Plus, the strange thing is that the network icon says there's nothing wrong at all (when it obviously there is). Even the currency desktop gadgets says the time elapsed since it 'lost connectivity '.
I initially thought P5Q-E was faulty so now I'm using the TURBO Pro. However, the problem still persisted.
I am using Win 7 Ultimate x64 with all the updates and drivers. Connected via LAN cable to the router and the firmware is the latest. My ISP sent me a replacement router to confirm that their equipment is not faulty, which is true.
I have tried the above methods 1-3.
Although I'm not sure if I implemented Method 3 correctly since I don't usually go to the registry but here's what it looks like after creating it:
    EnableRSS   REG_DWORD   0x00000001 (1)
    EnableTCPA   REG_DWORD   0x00000001 (1)
    EnableTCPChimey   REG_DWORD   0x00000001 (1)
There are 3 more PC's and 1 laptop in the house. 2 PCs use Win XP, 1 uses Win 7 Ultimate x64 and laptop uses Linux Ubuntu.
My PC has a second OS, Linux Ubuntu, I used it to time trial both motherboards (before and after switching) and found no problems at all even after 48hrs, so it confirms it's not a hardware issue.
The other PC's apart from mine are connected wirelessly. As far as I've been told, they don't experience the same issue I have.
I've been trying to tackle this problem for months now and I'm frustrated to reboot my PC every time it 'loses connection '.
I chatted with Asus about the issue when I still had the P5Q-E mobo, they said that they built a simular system to mine with the same mobo and said they couldn't reproduce the problem I'm having. THey even tested on other mobos with the same LAN chip and found nothing wrong. That's why I got the TURBO Pro that has a different LAN chip.
    Anyone got anymore suggestions???
    Thanks in advance.

When I create a new connection with sql developer, with the same hostname / IP (192.168.56.101), Port 1521 (didn't change that) and SID orcl, basic connection type, it can't even connect, throwing the error mentioned in the subject:
Status : Failure -Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
I have looked at various threads in the forums here but I'm still stymied why the connection seems to be ok, yet sql developer has problems with it. If I create an ssh tunnel so sql developer only has to connect to localhost it works:
    ssh -L 1521:192.168.56.101:1521 -l oracle 192.168.56.101

    Hi Ali,
This may be of varoius reasons..
Is the database that you are connecting on the same PC?
    You have specified Hostname: localhost.
If not please replace it with the IP of that server.
Else please check whether the database listener is started or not. if not please start the listener.
Check the SID by tnsping command.
    Hope this will help you..
    Thanks

If the OS is misconfigured, "nslookup" (or its replacement, "dig") will work just fine but you still won't get want you want, 'cause the OS won't attempt name resolution...
You should start your testing with "ping":
    ping [host name]
    ping [ip address]
(I think Solaris is one of the OS's where you have to use ctl-c [control key and c key at the same time] to get ping to stop).
Probably ip address will work and host name won't. If that's the case, it has nothing to do with your application or Java, the OS is misconfigured. Throw the problem at an experienced systems administrator if you can. While it's usually not hard, there are about a dozen possibilities.
If you can't, most likely the problem is in one of the files in the /etc directory; you will need root privileges to change them.
    On Solaris, common problems are:
    1. misconfigured nsswitch.conf
You probably want a line it to read:
hosts: files dnsalthough some people argue that dns should come before the (local host) files.. (I disagree)
    2. misconfigured resolv.conf
resolv.conf should contain the list of DNS servers you want this host to use to resolve names to IP addresses, as "nameserver" entries
It should also contain the default domain as a "domain" entry and any optional default domains as "search" entries. In other words, if you give the name as "foo" and want the machine "foo.bar.com" to be found, then you need an entry of either "domain bar.com" or "search bar.com"
    3. misconfigured /etc/hosts file
If and only if you are NOT using DNS, then you need to maintain a hostname/IP entry in this file. This is a big pain in the butt to maintain, and everybody who's anybody uses DNS, but maybe you're the exception... (Even if you are using DNS, you can stick an entry here as a quick and dirty fix, not recommended (and I once fired someone for "fixing" a problem that way and then lying about it - it was the last straw...), but it could be acceptable in your situation)
    Uncommon problems are:
bad routes - particularly if your DNS server is on a non-local subnet
bad subnetmask - particularly if your DNS server is on a non-local subnet
misconfigured network interface - most likely when you're using 2 different interfaces on 2 different networks

  • Yoga 2 did not detect a properly installed network adapter

Woke up this morning, turned my yoga 2 on, no WiFi.  So I used the troublsheeter and it told me there was no properly installed network adapter.  Does that mean my wifi card is dead?  Anyone else have an issue like this and find a solution (besides replacing a dead card?)
    I did:
    1) reinstalle drivers via usb from another machine
    2) used a system restore point from a few days ago
    Neither action had any effect.

Well I just set it to airplane mode and while I had no wifi it never told me that there was no network adapter cofigured.
Also, when you set it to airplane mode the wifi signal icon changes from bars to an airplane.
I think the adapter must have stopped working and then.. started working again.  I can't figure out what else it could be.

  • Network adapter does not work

How do I replace network adapter for Model p6370t, Product No. AZ210AV, Window 7 Professional operating system? It quit working after a power surge caused by a close lightning strike.  It appears that this was the only damage. I can get on the internet using a wireless adapter and router. I would like to use a wired connection.
    This question was solved.

You will have to purchase a PCI Express x1 network adapter card to install in one of the slots in your motherboard.
Tere are quite a few available on this web document at NewEgg.com. You should also be able to find one at any local PC or electronics store.

  • GX60 1AC-021US - Network adapter upgrade

    Hi all!
I've tried the search function before posting here, but didn't have any result. So here's my question!
I've bought an Intel Wireless-AC adapter to replace the Qualcomm Atheros adapter that comes pre-installed with the laptop. The thing is, after I uninstalled every drivers, format my system to re-install OS, it seems like the network adapter isn't working, giving me the "No network found" message while I'm accessing the connection nearby. I've tested an Ubuntu live CD and the adapter seems to work just fine. Is there anyway to make it works with Windows? I've tried the latest drivers from Intel, both for Win8 or Win8.1 and the previous version of the driver too, without success. The card worked 1 time, but after reboot, the same problem re-occured.
Any idea or advice I can get?
    Thanks!

Well....a quick google turns up these:
    https://communities.intel.com/thread/45592
    http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/303338-frequent-bsod-problem-3.html
How many sticks of memory do you have in your laptop? 2 or 3?
    Just wondering.....
Lastly, I saw your posts on Techinferno (I don't frequent there as much as I used to....). Honestly, the Killer Networks cards are just as much problems as many others. Go look at the GE/GT series users having a mess of a time with drivers with those cards. My GT70 took about 6 months until I got drivers that were BSoD free. Imagine that?
The best thing I can say, is I believe a few users 'upgraded' to the Intel 6235 and had good experience once they got the drivers sorted out.
    http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/centrino-advanced-n-6235.html
I don't have thread links atm (the search function isn't working right...), but they are here in this forum. You might have to go back 5 or 10 pages to find it, but it's there.
I have 2 RAM sticks, default. The only thing I tried to upgrade on the laptop is the network adapter...
Yeah, I've read almost all thread related to the card. Seems I'm not the only having trouble with that card, and since I installed the card myself, the people over at Intel won't offer me that much support. Anyway, I asked them and they sent me to the infos related to install latest drivers or try windows drivers. Nothing fits. I'll still look at that and if nothing good comes out, then I'll just be done with the card...  Thanks for your help!

  • Constantly required to reset my network adapter when booting

I have a HP Pavilion PC model a6430f which has a NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet built in to the motherboard.  There is no wireless ability.  When I turn the PC on, it boots fine, but is unable to connect to the internet.  After I reset my network adapter several times, it connects and works great until I turn it off and back on.  I am running Vista Home Prem. with service pack 2.  I did run "msinfo32" and have the nfo file available.
I can hopefully take care of this with just a setting change or a new driver.  If not, can I buy a new network adapter and just install it on the motherboard?  If so, do I have to do something to the adapter already installed?
    Thanks for your help,
    Regards, Gary

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion on finding a remedy to my problem with my network adapter.  I did follow the link you sent me and installed all of the updated drivers from the NVIDIA site.  Unfortunately, nothing changed with my network access problem.  I still get the following message:  ”Can not communicate with Primary DNS Server (192.168.1.254).  Reset the network adapter “Local Area Connection.”  When I reset the network adapter several times, I finally do get connected and it works fine until I turn the PC off and attempt to turn it back on.   I hate to replace the network adapter when it appears that it does work.  The problem may be a driver or something else.  Any other ideas?

  • Satellite C55DT network adapter problems

I purchased this Toshiba Satellite C55DT-B5208 laptop for my husband late August this year.  I've had two previous Toshiba laptops before and loved them, that's why I did not hesitate to purchase another Toshiba brand.  I am a very technical person and I work in IT, so I am familiar with networking and computer hardware very well.  We have a pretty robust home network.  I recently upgraded our router to the ASUS AC68u Gigabit router, which also serves as our media server.  All of our devices at home do not have any connection issues since I upgraded our router, so I know that when my husband's new Toshiba laptop keeps on disconnecting, it's is related to its network adapter, which is the Qualcomm Atheros AR956x.  I tried all of the following solutions with no success:
    1.  Reinstalled the latest driver
    2.  Reset the BIOS
    3.  Changed the channel bandwidth of our router from 20MHz to 40MHz (this increased the speed of the adapter to the router from 72 Mbps to 150 Mbps, but the Internet is still extremely slow and websites wouldn't load most of the time.)
    4.  Used a WiFi analyzer to check what surrounding frequencies are interferring with the connection, but I found none.
    5.  Finally, I reset the computer to its factory settings (this seemed to work only for a few hours. The Internet seemed to run fine then started to do what it did before I did the reset).
I called the tech support for this since it is still under warranty, and I was told to send it in for repair.  My husband needs a computer because he is now in school, and sending it in means he won't have any computer until he gets it back.  Are there any other solutions I am missing?  I was thinking of purchasing a replacement network card for it, but I am not sure what type of PCIe network card form factor it uses.  I cannot find any information on what type of PCIe card it uses.  Any information will be appreciated.

I have been having similar issues with this same model, purchased at best buy, for my wife. The wifi will suddenly seem to slow to a crawl, and eventually will not work at all. Though, it states it's connected, and there is a problem with the router connnecting to the internet. I have a standard Verizon issued MI424WR router that came with the services. I tried  returning to factory settings, updatind drivers, BIOS, uninstalled antivirus, tried with different antivirus products, firewall settings, etc. Nothing. It seems that when the laptop is taken away from the router, a mere 25 feet or so, it loses connectivity, but insists it's connected to the router, and the router is the one having trouble, though 2 other machines on the same network (1 wifi, 1 ethernet) are experiencing no issues. Really this is just a bump, hopefully someone out there can figure this out.

  • Server 2012 R2 - The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter

We seem to be having an issue recently after introducing new Windows Server 2012 R2 servers where they fail to register DNS correctly. The Windows Firewall is off and the servers are on the same VLAN with no firewalls between them.
When I do an ipconfig /registerdns or wait 24 hours for the system to try we get the following error:
The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter
    with settings:
               Adapter Name : {4A0ECF05-193F-4BEA-AA46-BEC593BA752B}
               Host Name : SRV-DATA
               Primary Domain Suffix : internal.local

    192.168.0.50, 192.168.0.42
Sent update to server : <?>
               IP Address(es) :
                 192.168.0.99
The reason the system could not register these RRs was because the DNS server contacted refused the update request. The reasons for this might be (a) you are not allowed to update the specified DNS domain name, or (b) because the DNS server authoritative
for this name does not support the DNS dynamic update protocol.
To register the DNS host (A or AAAA) resource records using the specific DNS domain name and IP addresses for this adapter, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator.
On our DNS server we have set for the internal.local zone Secure Updates only so that looks good because it is Active Directory that should be handling this authentication to update the record I assume. Just to mention that when also doing an ipconfig /regsiterdns
the update fails within a few seconds.

This issue is only affecting Windows Server 2012 R2 clients and testing with Windows Server 2008 R2 clients works no issues. So is this a mis-configuration or a bug with Windows 2012 R2? I have checked all DNS settings on client / server which all look good

As the title suggests, my laptop (Alienware m17x) is installed with the Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.  I have had several other driver incompatibility issues with Windows 7, but those I have slowly been able to resolve.  This however just cropped up after two months of successful use.  Yesterday it started failing to connect to the internet, telling me that no wireless connections are available.  I live in a dorm, and everyone else on my floor has successful wireless, including my Ipod Touch, PS3 and XBox 360.  I called Alienware/Dell Support and we spent hours trying to fix the problem and all look well until I rebooted my laptop this morning and the same issue reappeared.  When I reboot my laptop, all I get is a notification that no networks appear in range.  If I uninstall the broadcom chip and let windows install it after a boot up it works until the machine is rebooted a second time.  I have tried over a dozen windows 7 drivers for the chip, and about half a dozen vista drivers and they all have the same results, works on the first boot, fails every time after that

Just registered to say, on an Alienware M17x system as well running Windows 7 Ultimate, here is a link to a solution that worked exactly for me:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/436486-guide-properly-solve-wireless-connection-problems-m17x.html
All I did was section I.a. If the link is down, I copied the only section that I needed to follow out of this guide, in order to get my wireless to work repeatedly without having to uninstall the wireless driver every single reboot. Now it works perfectly,
already connected to a wireless network on startup.
I.a. Disable Device sleep on disconnect
Some newer Nvidia Ethernet drivers have a feature called Device sleep on disconnect. This is the culprit. Normally, it should only put the Ethernet adapter to sleep when the cable is disconnected, but it's buggy and thus kills the wireless connection as
    well.
Follow these steps to disable this feature on your Nvidia Ethernet Adapter:
    1. Open the Windows Device Manager by hitting Win+Pause, then click on Device Manager on the left side.
    2. Double-click on Network adapters.
    3. Double-click on NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (yes, that's the wired Ethernet adapter indeed).
    4. Click on the Advanced tab.
    5. Select Device sleep on disconnect.
    6. Set the Value to Disabled.
    7. Click OK and wireless should work again (might require a reboot afterwards, but probably not).

  • Apple's Adapter Replacement Program

    Hello,
Im having trouble with my charger works sometimes and sometimes does not. I saw this article about Apple's Adapter Replacement Program (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4127).
I have an L type charger and bought my MBP in 2010. Am I eligible for this replacement?
    Thanks

    It's pretty clear here:
    Resolution
Whether your product is in or out of warranty, you can take your adapter to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store for evaluation and replacement if necessary. Pending the results of evaluation, you may or may not be eligible for a replacement adapter free of charge. Signs of accidental damage would negate any coverage. Be sure to bring in the computer used with the adapter; it is required to process potential adapter replacements.
Apple Authorized Service Provider. Find one here.
Apple Technical Support. Contact us for local service options.
Apple Retail Store. Set up an appointment with a Genius.
For information about the cash payment for replacement adapters referred to in the notice, go to www.AdapterSettlement.com or call 1-888-332-0277.  You will be provided with a detailed notice and claim form package that contains everything you need.

    Hi,
We are using OWB 10.2 in our production environment.Actually we are using OWB only for development.
After deploying each mapping we will create scheduler job for execution of these mappings.
Recently our staging DBs port has been changed to 1522 from 1521 and i have gone throgh the below steps.
    1) Changed the port in tnsnames.ora file.
    2) In Start Control Centre Servioce ,i have changed the port to 1522 for owbownr user and started the service successfully.
    3) i have run the script UpdateLocation.sql from the OWBOWNR schema and updated the port number.
    4) I tried to run the UpdateControlCenter.sql in owbownr schema and staging schema also, but i am getting an error like below.
    SQL> @UpdateControlCenter.sql
This sql script sets the host:port:service parameters for a control center
    in the OWB Client Repository.
The connection type must be host:port:service and cannot be changed
    using this script.

    Hi Allan,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
I have checked in OWB\Locations\Database\Oracle\Location\DB Connectors and also in Control Center\Location\Connectors,seems like there is no connectors created.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Also i analyzed the UpdateControlCenter.sql in that
    select value into v_connectiontype from cmpstringpropertyvalue_v where logicalname = 'CMPLocation_ConnectionType' and propertyowner = v_elementid;
    the qry returns 'SQL*NET'.
    Any workaround for these???
    Please reply.

If you're sure that you have a Broadcom BCM57xx
device installed in the machine, then you should have a look at
"prtconf -pv" output, locate the Ethernet device, and check the
    "vendor-id" / "device-id" property for the NIC.
If the Broadcom device is compatible with Sun's "bge" driver, you
can try to install an addition driver binding entry for your device,
    using the update_drv(1M) command
update_drv -a -i '"pciVVVV,DDDD"' bge(where VVVV and DDDD is the pci vendor / device id found in
    prtconf -pv output).
