Network Audit

Hi,
I am planning for Network audit
Device: 7200 Router, 3845 router
Switch: 2960,3750,4500,4900M
ASA
I am mainly doing the audit on this perspective:
Vulnerablities
Perfomance
Bittleneck
Pls share some docuemnt/ppt/guidelines
Br/Subhojit

Hi,
there are many tools which you can use for doing the above task.
There is no generalized format or documents which you can find
if you want to do Vulernability Assessment:- Use Nipper Studio
If you want to do the Performance:- Use Manage Engine or Solar winds which usually works on SNMP based data collection.
Manageengine comes with IP SLA feature which test the SLA for the link and performance which can help you finding the Bottle neck.
Please rate if helpful
Thanks,
Nitesh

  • What is "Network Audit" on the WCS ?

I see a scheduled task for "Network Audit" but its disabled and not exactly sure what it is suppose to do.
Any have more details on this?

I have the Base+Location version of WCS and it is disabled by default.
I have heard from other members that the Base only version has this enabled by default.
Since it does not make any changes, it only reports on mismatches between controllers and WCS, why would it be off by default?
I am having issues keeping my controllers in sync with the WCS, was hoping this would help.
    But I guess not

  • Network Architecture & performance audit

Would like to get some information on network performace audit & architecture audit. I need some help on review of existing architecture, finding current choke points and proposing better network. It can be also from the bandwidth perspective.
It would be great if anyone can throw light on following aspects,
    1. Tools used for doing a bandwidth audit and network audit
    2. Any good documentation availiable on internet , which could help me in above.(Talking about best practices)
    3. Any case studies on this front.
    4. The process followed for a network audit which has the checklists, questionare, format for the reports etc. (any sample reports)

for a cisco network, a good option would be the CiscoWorks IPM.

  • Configuration Change Audit Report in Prime Infrastructure 2.1

Is there any plan to implement a Configuration Change Audit report in future releases of Prime Infrastructure (ie. 2.2)?  When I go into the Reporting area and run a Change Audit report under the Compliance section it doesn't give me any information in regards to configuration changes, only inventory changes.  There are managers who would like the ability to receive an e-mailed report of configuration changes within a 24 hours period.  Currently the only way I can tell that you can get this information is by logging into Cisco Prime and going to Network Audit under Operation / Device Work Center.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Configuration Change Management (with Baseline Compliance reporting) is projected for the next release after 2.2. As of now that's projected to be ca. April 2015.
On a side note, last I heard, 2.2 should be out in the next couple of weeks.

  • Security audit softw

    Hi All
Can somebody tell me wish are the 3 best security network audit software available in the market?
    attn
    Carlos

So something along the lines of Nessus (Tenable)?  It's probably one of the most well-reknown vulnerability scanners out there.  You can even combine something like that with something like RedSeal to evaluate potential exposure and more.
The following book may also prove valuable in terms of methodology and suggestions.  Chapter 4 in particular is centered around auditing tools and techniques:

  • Oracle user?

    Hi,
New to oracle, and to the forum.
A product I'm installing (Visionael Network Audit) requires Oracle to be installed beforehand.
I've successfully installed Oracle. Firstly, I do not have any user other than the administrator on the Windows Server machine. Also I did not configure or change anything prior to the Oracle installation. If i've erred here can you point me to some summarised howto document for oracle installation.
If thats fine, next I'm having problem with an SQL script (to which I'm new as well)
    The script
    SQL> create tablespace visionael_tempspace
    2 datafile 'c:\oracle\visionael_tmp01' size 10 M
    3 autoextend on next 10M
    4 default storage (

    6 next 50K
    7 minextents 1
    8 maxextents 121
    9 pctincrease 10
    10 ) temporary online;
    create tablespace visionael_tempspace
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-12913: Cannot create dictionary managed tablespace
orak is the name of the databse I created.
Will appreciate any help, have a deadline to meet with this product installation.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Sending with other IP address

    Hi,
I'm planning to develop an network audit tool and I'd like to know if it's possible to send udp datagrams using another IP address as the source address.
In relation with this: is this possible to do some "editing" in outbound ip packets?
    Thanks in advance,
    chabral

I could be wrong but I dont think java can manipulate lower OSI layers. I beleive java creates the packet and hands it off to the OS for processing, and THAT'S where the header info comes in.
Spoofing UDP is a trivial thing using c on a linux box.. Anyone ever successfully spoof TCP with ANY os/programming language thru a router using a current OSPF/RIP protocol? By successful, i mean you receive the ACK's AND don't knock the spoofed IP's owner off the network. THAT would be a noteworthy feat..

  • Does Photoshop Elements use the GPU?

I cannot find a difinitive statement as to whether Photoshop Elements uses the GPU or not. I am about to buy a new computer and I am trying to determine if I should spend the money to get a higher end graphics card or not. The two options in the computer I am looking at are the Nvidia Quadro K1000M and K2000M, both with 2Gb. The K2000M is $250 more and I need to decide if it will provide better performance with Elements. Thanks.

Some software use the computer’s GPU (addition to or in place of the CPU) in order to complete its given task in a shorter period of time. Photoshop is an example of one of these applications; it uses the GPU instead of the CPU to complete its tasks faster. 3DS Max is another example. It uses all available cores to render faster.
Now you might be thinking those all have to do with graphics... Well... Doesn’t imovie have to do with graphics, too? I mean utilizing the GPU to encode video is a good idea IMO. Even if you don’t associate iMovie with graphics, and somehow think it’s impossible for it to ever take advantage of a GPU, what about the other software that’s completely unrelated to graphics and video encoding? The legality or intentions of the software is questionable... (ie wireless network auditing) But regardless, it still takes advantage of the GPU to accelerate its tasks to incredible speeds. If stuff like that can do it, why can’t a program designed for processing video do it?
Anyway, I won’t be able to tell you if adobe makes NTSC discs or not. I already have toast 10 which I just discovered it burns NTSC DVD discs and even Blu Ray video discs without returning a demuxing error every other video. And to think it was only useful for burning data discs. It doesn’t use the GPU either, but it seems to encode DVD video considerably faster than iDVD.

  • Logs from Cisco Prime

    Hi Team,
I am using Cisco Prime Infra 2.0. I want to find the logs related to LWAP Templete. We have 4-5 templets created. few days back one templete has been modified and the templete was pushed to all the AP's.
So i need to know when,How and Who has modified  this templete.
I am trying to get logs from Admin-->Logging Page, But it has no info about this.
Please help me in getting this logs.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Satya.M

    Hi,
    I found answer for this....
    Viewing Audit Logs
Prime Infrastructure provides two types of audit logs:
•Application Audit logs—Logs events that pertain to the Prime Infrastructure features. For example, you can view the application audit log to see when a particular user logged in and what actions were taken.
•Network Audit logs—Logs events related to the devices in your network. For example, you can view the network audit logs to see which user deployed a specific template and the date and time the template was deployed
Hope it should be helpful to u as'll

  • Cisco prime syslog functionality

    Hello All,
I have added devices in cisco prime. I can see logging option in cisco prime under Administration > Logging .  I have given one server IP  (10.18.89.43) where I wanted logs to get saved but I am not sure whether prime is acting as a syslog server and if its really collecting those syslog. Also how do I know where its saving those logs on server. (See attached image)
Please help me with exact configuration.

Thanks Marvin for valuable reply. I can see Prime generated syslog message for one of added switch under Inventory > Device Management > Network Audit.
But it was just one message as follows:
    Syslog Message<189>92196: Apr 21 17:33:55: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by 5588648 on vty0 (10.18.83.170)
How do I configure Prime so i can increase buffer for these messages.

  • SNMP V3

    Hi all,
I am in the process of migrating some of our devices to SNMP V3 per a network audit. Some of our devices do not support V3 only V2, what is the proper way of doing this and still be able to effectively manage devices via Ciscoworks?

Nothing needs to be done really. LMS can completely support a mix of v3 and v2c. You just need to make sure the proper credentials are configured. Discovery can even try v3, then fallback to v2c then to v1 (LMS 3.2). Everything should be transparent to the end user.
