Network C7280 through Mac Time Capsule with iMac Snow Leopard, MacBook Pro S and Compaq W7

The HP works fine with the iMac desktop, but the 2 laptops won't print, although they seem to be recognizing the network. Says printer not connected. The HP Photosmart C7200 Wireless Network Test Report and Configuration Page seem to be normal and functional.

If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall <<<< Scrubber Option
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
Restart your Mac
Now reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

I was just wondering if I can use time capsule with my iphone for both back up and to access the hard drive on the capsule?

I don't think backup is supported but you may be able to access the TC's internal drive, from the iPhone, with an application like: NetPortal
Note: I haven't actually tried this app, so if someone else has and was successful in accessing the TC's drive they can certainly chime in.
Follow-up. Just downloaded and installed this app ... and I can now verify that it, indeed, can access both my TC's internal and externally attached USB HDD.

What is best password AP to sync with Imac (Snow Leopard)?

Here are a few analog to digital devices and approaches I have had success with:
    1. Sony DA-2
    2. Most Name brand Firerwire or i.Link Minidv Camcorders with Digital Pass thru feature will suffice since more often than not this feature is also included ... But read the owner's manual or check online to make certain it's included.
    3. Canopus products work perfectly nearly 100% of the time and will keep the video and audio in synch much better than other devices. It can take the form of a pci card (if your mac is so equipped) and if not, then a canopus media converter box will also work (as already mentioned above):

    4. Another approach I use to simply "dump" mini dv or VHS tapes to Dvd-R is a DVD Player/Recorder like the one shown below with Digital inputs. In this case (i.Link / FW)):

  • If I use Migration Assistant to transfer files a second time from my iMac to my Macbook Pro, will I end up with doubles of files on my Macbook?

I used Migration Assistant from my Time Machine for my iMac to my Macbook Pro (I'm pretty sure) when setting up my new laptop to transfer files I wanted from my desktop; now I have new files on my iMac that I'd like to transfer, and I'm wondering if Migration Assistant will send files that I already transferred to my Macbook again, thus creating doubles of files on my Macbook

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Migration Assistant creates a new account to transfer files from another Mac, so you will end with doubles of files on the MacBook.
To avoid this, you can go with the easier way: get an external drive, copy all the files you have on your iMac to the external drive, connect it to the MacBook and copy the files on the external drive to the folder you want to.
Another way is to transfer them through your network. If you have OS X Lion or Mountain Lion on both Macs and they are connected to the same network, use AirDrop to transfer your files. Simply open a Finder window on the iMac and choose AirDrop in the sidebar. Then, drag the files you want to transfer to your MacBook Pro's icon.
Finally, if you have FireWire in both Macs, you can use Target Disk mode on your iMac (hold the T key while your iMac is starting), so your MacBook Pro will detect your iMac's hard drive as an external drive and you will be able to transfer whatever you need

  • Time Capsule with Backup unable to be connected to and restored

I have recently rebuilt my iMac to 10.6.8 - I was previously on the same OS but wanted a clean install.
My entire mac was backed up to a 3tb Time Capsule
Having rebuilt I would like to restore some data from the Time Capsule but the iMac is now refusing to see any data on the time capsule.  When I manage the Time Capsule from Airport Utility I can see that there is about 1gb used.  If I share the disc and allow connectivity I can even see the sparsebundle, but Time Machine and Migration Assistant do not see a valid Time Capsule with data that can be restored from.
I am not 100% that I have anything stored here that I can recover elsewhere.  The key data was stored in multiple places as I never like to rely on 1 - however I would like to get to the bottom of this as I want some confidence in this for the future.
    Any advice welcome.
    Paul

The problem is that Migration Assistant doesn't recognise ANY backup partitions on the Time Capsule.  I can see the Time Capsule drive and when I select them I have to provide a password but it fails to connect or fails to find a usable backup.  But as I mentioned if I manually connect I can see the sparsebundle.
I'm quite happy to start again, but really want to recover some of the data on the drive.  If I can't recover now under these circumstance (ie voluntary rebuild) I will have no confidence that the TC will be there when needed under an involuntary rebuild.
The machine has been rebuilt under exactly the same machine name and administrator names, although I guess these could both have unique identifiers.

  • Time Capsule to restore to new Macbook Pro

Okay...I'm pretty sure this will work...but just wanted to make sure before I pull the trigger.
I currently backup my Macbook to Timecapsule. I'm getting a new Macbook Pro soon and wanted to make sure that I can restore my current setup to the new laptop from my Time Capsule backups.
Thanks in advance for your sage advice.

Yes. Check out the following Apple support article: Restoring files from a Time Capsule backup, specifically the section, titled "Restoring an existing Time Capsule backup to a new Mac."

  • Opening Final Cut Studio 3 Projects on Mac Pro (Snow Leopard) & MacBook Pro (Lion)

    Hi Everyone,
Right i've been trawling the forums in regards to Lion's compatibility with Final Cut Studio 3. There seemed to be a mixed bag of reports, some running FCP fine on Lion, others having issues.
For this reason alone I decided to keep my main editing system, my Mac Pro, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and not upgrade to Lion.
More and more frequently i've thought I need to get myself a MacBook Pro, for data wrangling on location and for some cheeky edit sessions when i'm away on jobs.
The thing is, all new MacBook Pros ship with Lion as their OS.
My question is twofold really. Firstly, I've read that Final Cut Studio 3 installs and runs fine on Lion systems, can anyone confirm this?
Secondly, do any of you know if i'll be able to swap between, and freely work on projects across the two different systems, namely a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and a MacBook Pro running Lion? is this an issue at all?
The last thing I want to do is spend three grand on a MacBook and then realise I have issues opening or working on projects from my MacPro (or vise-vesa)
As ever, your help would be greatly appreciated...
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

I've read that Final Cut Studio 3 installs and runs fine on Lion systems, can anyone confirm this?
Yes, FCS 3 installs and runs without issue on my Lion system.
There are a couple of careats however  with the primary one being  DO A CLEAN INSTALL OF THE OS AND THE APPS. Upgrade installs over major version changes are problematic.
do any of you know if i'll be able to swap between, and freely work on projects across the two different systems, namely a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard and a MacBook Pro running Lion? is this an issue at all?
Again, not an issue in my world.

  • Scanning through the Time Capsule with a Canon MP610

I have searched the forums and seen plenty of posts about this very same topic. I can scan when my Canon MP610 is connected via USB to the iMac but I cannot scan when it is connected to my time capsule. Canon customer support said I should seek help via Apple and I havent been able to turn anything up. I wont be buying a new printer again for a while, so what can I do?
    Chris

Hello navyvet04. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Is there going to be an update that you know of or is this a hardware issue?
As far as I know Apple has not reported on, whether or not, they will provide an update that will support scanners or the scanning feature of multi-function printers on the AirPort USB ports.
If all else fails this will work with a networked printer through Ethernet?
Now that might be possible if the printer has the appropriate Ethernet capability and support network scanning.

  • Airport Time Capsule Problems Since Snow Leopard - Loses Connections

I did a straightforward install of Snow Leopard on the iMac 24 and it went fine. I have very few apps on it so nothing weird running to cause two issues:
1 - Time Machine backups to a Time Capsule have become slow and unreliable. Also, even 10-100 MB file transfers to a MacBook Pro 17", also on Snow Leopard, took the longest time.
2 - The Airport/WiFi icon will often go from being a static icon with full signal to one in which each curved concentric level bar flashes one by one up from the bottom dot to the topmost arc, and then back down, and back and forth. This often happens in the middle of Time Capsule backups. Holding down the mouse on the icon shows my network still connected, but the backup fails, and any web page attempted will also report there is no network.
I wonder if others have had similar problem(s).
    Imran

I am also having very strange problems with 10.6.1 and TC. The network disconnects for no apparent reason, frequently. It seems to be tying up both of the phone lines too, because once the TC reconnects to the network, the telephone no longer works (it says "line busy" and remains that way until and unless I unplug the TC). Plugging directly into the cable modem works fine, no problems at all with the telephones or with the network disconnecting at random. All three macs on my home network (macbook, MBPro and iMac) are updated to 10.6.1. At first I thought the problem might have been the modem itself but it works fine; it's only when the TC is connected that the weirdness happens.

  • Time Capsule assigns wrong IP to Macbook Pro upon wake

    Hi,
This is driving me nuts, I hope someone can help.
First off: I have latest OS 10.5.7, Airport, and Time Capsule updates available today. This problem has been occurring since before 10.5.7 came along, and before the last Time Capsule firmware update too.
Time Capsule is running in 5ghz N-only mode. The IP 10.0.1.37 is reserved/assigned by MAC address for the MBP.
About 40% of the time when I open the lid of the MBP to wake it, I have no internet access but can access the Time Capsule disk. When this happens, I check the IP of the MBP and it is assigned 10.0.1.101 which is incorrect. If I click the "renew DHCP" button from the TCP/IP tab in Network Settings, it immediately re-assigns 10.0.1.37 to the MBP and then internet works fine.
I previously did not have a static IP assigned to the MBP and it had the same problem.
I have tried both lengthening and shortening the DHCP lease time but still have this problem.
We have a black MacBook running the same OS purchased at the same time that does not experience this problem at all, and does not have an assigned IP.
An Airport Express with Xbox 360 attached is also on the TC wireless network with no problems.
I believe this issue started happening when I switched from N/G-compatible mode to N-only mode. I don't want to slow it back to G-compatible if possible.
    I welcome your suggestions. Thanks.

Time Capsule has now been assigning the MBP IP 10.0.1.105 now.
No one has any ideas on this?

  • Time capsule not accessible to my MacBook Pro.

    Hello.
My time capsule is not accessible to my MacBook Pro.
I have tried restarting the time capsule, checked it's connexions & pushing a pin in the back to re-set it. The light on the front is flashing orange.
    Unsure of my next step.
    Thank you for any assistance.

Plug the TC into the MBP by ethernet.
Press and hold the reset until the TC flashes rapidly and redo the setup.
This time use short names, no spaces, pure alphanumeric for everything.. give a different name to 5ghz as well.
    So for example
    TC name. TC
    TC 2.4ghz TC24ghz
    TC 5ghz TC5ghz
    Hard disk name.. TCdata
Fix the wireless at 2.4ghz to one of the available channels.. 1, 6, 11 (13 in UK).
You can try each in turn.
Set WPA2 Personal security with passkey.. 8-12 characters.. pure alphanumeric.
Then you can plug the TC back into the network.. I presume you are using the TC in bridge mode.
If you continue having issues. tell us what OS the computer is running.
This is not at all unusual on Mountain Lion.. and fairly normal even on Lion.
You have stated Snow Leopard in the profile.. but it seldom has this much difficulty with the TC.

  • Sprint 755p sync with iMac Snow Leopard using Missing Sync

I have a different problem.  I have been using Palm Desktop on my Mac for several years, syncing with my Sprint Palm Treo 755p.  I recently upgraded to a new iMac with Snow Leopard.  I noticed the warnings that the Hot Sync was no longer going to work.  I also noticed the glowing reports about Missing Sync.  Based on those reports I ordered Missing Sync from Mark/Space.  The first Sync went very well, except the wrong information was synced to my 755p!!!!!!!  I do not use the Apple iCal or iBook as extensively as I do the Palm DeskTop addresses, calendar, notes, & memos.  Unfortunately for me, the sync transferred ONLY my iCal & iBook information (approximately 80 contacts) onto my 755p instead of the contacts in my Palm Desktop (almost 5000 contacts).  Reviewing the Missing Sync information, this seems to be a result of the "conduits" selected.  But, I do not see the conduits to get the Palm Desktop information onto the 755p.  Can anyone help?
I can not find the answer on the Mark/Space web site.  I have called there support number and was very disappointed from their automated response.  There was no way to reach a "live" person to discuss the problem.  The automated response promised an email response in 4 days.  4 days!, is that "customer service"????  I have a MacBook Pro laptop as well.  I hoped to be able to sync the computers as well, even if I had to go through the 755p to Sync the MacBook with the iMac.  I ordered the "2 pack" version of Missing Sync, downloading the first copy on to my desktop computer with no problem.  I was assured that the code to download the second copy onto my laptop would be sent by email.  That was 7 days ago, and nothing has arrived yet!  I also registered with Mark/Space to be able to access technical support and submitted the proper on line forms.  No notification came back and it won't let me in!  I sure am getting frustrated with Mark/Space and Missing Sync.  Anybody have any other suggestions?

making an appleID to be able to access app store and itunes is required
for getting apps and using icloud (which is free)
other then that when you connect the ipad to the computer and start itunes on the computer
and click on the ipad under devices
and click on the info tab you can set it to sync calendar, contacts, mails, notes and bookmarks and the likes without having an appleID

    I keep receiving this message.

The backup disk image "/Volumes/Time Capsule/Karla Laura Smith's MacBookPro.sparsebundle" could not be accessed (error -1).
Can anyone help me clear this annoying message up?  Thanks for advance....

The unplugging was of power, if you were unplugging ethernet .. that will not do anything.
    The issue is explained here.
    C17 http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
If a restart of the TC is not adequate you maybe in the 2% that has other issues.. please try a full network restart in correct order.. with everything off.. modem.. then TC.. then clients.. with 2min gap to allow modem and TC to finish boot process.
