Network Camera Issue

Hello, looking for some help, I just purchased a TRENDNET TV-110W internet Camera server to monitor my home when I am away. I have also downloaded the EvoCam Program. I can not seem to configure the camera at all, I have a MAC G5 OS 10.4.11 , AirPort expess router. When the camera is hooked up all I get is the QUICKTIME logo on my screen. Does anyone have any info on this issue, Thank You.
Frank.

Hi, thanks for the response, I had seen on the trendnet websight the compatibility issue but after some research I had found other people had overcome it. I'm trying to contact them as well.
Thanks, Frank.

  • EA4500 – Smart Wi-Fi interface and Windows Network Map issues

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear!!!!! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation??????????
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless. Any known solutions for this, or is it as Windows suggests; an incompatible Router????
Thanks in advance for any insight or solutions. With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

thebluemamba_24; Thank you for your suggestion; I finally found time yesterday to perform an extensive evaluation before I return the Router. However, rather than trying to add devices manually, my rationale was if the EA4500 can’t process them correctly, automatically, it needs to be returned anyway, so I added devices normally letting the device an Router handle the process.
In thinking through this issue, all devices on our network are detected and identified by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 computers; except of course the Apple and Android devices (Apple TV, iPad, and Smartphone). So, I wondered if one of those three devices being added to the Router’s device list was somehow causing issues or interfering with Windows 7’s ability to generate a Network Map. Therefore, my approach was to turn off or disable all devices on our network, reset the Router to factory defaults, reestablish the Router to my custom Home Network configuration using a Windows 7 PC that has LAN and Wireless access to the Router, then add one device at a time and check with each addition to see if Windows 7 could still generate a Network Map.
With the Router reset and reestablishment complete; I began the process of adding one device at a time and checking to see if a Network Map was being generated. What I discovered was when a recent addition to the network, a Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, was connected (wirelessly), Windows 7 could no longer generate the Network Map and the failure was consistent. The only way to get the Network Map to work again was to remove power from the WD TV Live, although it remained in the EA4500’s Device List; simply turning it off didn’t help. Since I’d originally witnessed the Windows 7 Network Map working with the Linksys E2000 Router that the EA4500 replaced, I decided to test the WD TV Live with that Router. It worked initially, but it failed consistently after the first success. Interestingly, the failure indication was a little different, but nevertheless generation of the Network Map failed.
I’ve tried changing a few settings on the EA4500 as well as the WD TV Live, but nothing helped. There was a recent firmware update to the WD TV Live, so I might try rolling back the firmware to see if it makes a difference.
The Network Map issue might very well be an issue with the WD TV Live, not the Router, but after reading many threads on this Community I have reservations that the problems I’m experiencing with the Smart interface lockup will be fixed. I suspect new emerging replacement products will be the focus and these older products will be abandoned and no more firmware fixes will be forthcoming and I don’t want to spend more money for a new product just to fix old problems and get something that works properly. The Network Map issue is troublesome, but the lockup of the Router’s “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” interface is a serious matter to me. It appears that once it locks up, the only way to correct it is a power off restart; not practical if you’re traveling and trying to access settings remotely; the selling point for this feature.
Given the problems I’m experiencing with the EA4500 and AE3000, I guess I’ll return them. Too bad, because otherwise the EA4500 seems like it’s a good Router. I’ve been brand loyal since the Linksys WRT54G came out, but after reading this Community and with my personal experience with the EA4500 and AE3000, now I’ll probably give the NETGEAR N900 equivalents a try.

  • Network Camera

    Hello all -
Was wondering if I could get some advice.
I would like to make a network camera, that is currently connected to my LAN, available to the www.
I have a static IP address from my broadband supplier - and have set up a domain name with an external ISP that points to my static IP.
I am running DNS on my OS X Server and have made an entry so that the same domain name points to the fixed (internal) IP of my network camera (which is 10.0.1.5)
Portforwarding is set up on my airport express (which sits between my ADSL Modem (in bridge mode) and my server, to redirect all requests on port 80 / 8080 to my OS X Server (which is at 10.0.1.2)
Of course - as I imagine you have realised - this doesn't work from outside of my LAN. Requests get forwarded to my server - but stop there - and don't get passed onto the network camera.
I have tried embedding the image from the webcam in a webpage hosted on the server. Again, this works from inside the LAN, but from outside - the local address of the network camera does not get inside my LAN.
I have tried a redirect - but get the same issue.
I could setup a specific port - but want to keep the URL simple - without the user having to add a port number to the end.
Am I best off asking my broadband supplier for a second static IP address ? Happy to do that but keen to see if there is a better way first.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Thanks Camelot
    Really appreciate your help.
I did try the 'wrapper' solution - and it didn't work from outside the LAN (fine from inside the LAN, or outside with a VPN). Seems as if the remote users browser / machine is still looking for a private IP address - obviously without success. This surprised me as I thought it would work. I used an HTML page from the camera manufacturers website. Pasted below : (my camera IP is 10.0.1.5)
Don't think I'm brave enough to get under the hood of Apache - will check to see how much a 2nd Static IP address will cost.
    Thanks again,
    Andrew

  • Network cameras struggle to update video

I updated Safari to 6.0 a couple of nights ago...  I have four house security cameras (panasonic network cameras).  I have occasion to move one or more of them quite often so what I discovered tonight is very new, I am guessing since I updated Safari...  At first I thought the camera motor signals were messed up but now I've discovered the video update from any and all of the four cameras freezes often but only on Safari...  Firefox on the mac works fine and IE over on Windows 7 running under VMware Fusion works fine also...  In fact, I move a camera from Safari...  I see no change...  But I flip over and look at Firefox and the camera has clearly moved...
All the controls on Safari seem to be working fine including commanding the camera motors to move...  But it's the video feed from the camera to Safari that is messed up...  Any ideas why???  Is anyone else having similar problems with video cameras with the new version 6 of Safari???
Also, I just upgraded to OS X 10.8 last night but since Firefox still works fine with these cameras, I would guess the issue was with the Safari upgrade that I need the night before I upgraded to 10.8...  Thoughts????
    thanks... bob...

Thanks Jim, always appreciate your quick replies.
I still need a little help.
From the linked document, it would appear that the CPU is more likely to be the problem than the video card.  They speak of "video configuration."  What do the mean by that?
On the other hand, the forum is full of discussion about video cards and the need for an appropriate one.
One more question. When the video freezes on playback, if I wait for a minute or so, it restarts.  What is happening during this minute?  (Cleaning the cache doesn't change anything).
    Thanks again.

  • QT Streaming from Network Camera?

    Hi everyone!
We were wondering if we could do QT streaming via network cameras? We purchased a few AXIS 206W network cameras. We realised that they only produce MJPEG movies. Is it possible to do QT streaming with these cameras? Could you recommend some tools/documentations regarding this issue? Thank you.

As your trial has proved the start/stall playback means you've reached the bandwidth limits of your device. Lots of reasons why.

  • Port Forwarding For Network Cameras On Infinity

Basically if you have network cameras and want to access them remotely with BT Infinity, get rid of your BT Home Hub 3!
Whatever configuration they have inside for their infinity setup, the ports you open for your cameras will never be accessible. I was aware of this before the installation from reading about it online but these were old posts and hoped this problem may have been resolved by now.
Anyway sure enough once the installation was complete I setup the ports for access to my cameras and found them to be inaccessible. BT checked and confirmed I had configured the hub correctly but said there was nothing wrong with the equipment and it must be the line. Mean time I connected and setup my own router and sure enough the ports were accessible immediately which confirmed it was their hub/router and not the line. I told BT and they decided to send out another hub which in my mind I already knew wouldn't work (and it didn't). When I told them, the only answer their technical people could give me was to come on here and ask cause they were unable to comment on my findings and they could be of no further help with the issue. So save yourself the hassle of waiting for replacement routers and use your own. Doesn't need to be expensive, just a stand alone router and plug it into your BT Openreach modem and set your router's PPPOE user to: [email protected] and leave the password blank and you're done, the one I'm using cost me £29 a year ago and works a treat, no drop in speed and can now access all cameras remotely as before with ADSL.

  • The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".

The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".
My internet is fine: all other apps that do not rely on the Game Center work, as does my browser and other online functions; additionally, a friend's iPhone connects to his Game Center perfectly while he is sitting next to me.
Closing the Game Center app and then reopening it is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then logging back in, and then reopening the Game Center is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then reopening the Game Center app and logging back in from there is ineffective.
This issue has gone on for more than a month, and so the phone has gone through all variations of "turn it off then back on again, refresh the system, etc etc" that are the basic first suggestions for trouble shooting.
One game app, which required a Game Center profile to launch, stopped working entirely, and would return a message saying something like "connect to the Game Center". I eventually deleted it to free up space. Other games which can be linked to the Game Center to connect with friends simply fail to link, returning "Game Center unavailable". This is the aspect that is currently bothering me the most: I cannot play games with friends unless the app can also link to Facebook and connect to friends from there.
When I open the Game Center, I see the following screen. The bubbles float gently, and it seems as if I had the ability to update my "status". However doing so results in a message that has vanished once the app is reopened.
Upon tapping Games, either the bubble from the main screen or the option on the ribbon at the bottom, the following screen appears. Clicking on Challenges shows a message that achievements must be viewed to issue a challenge. Clicking achievements results in a message that games must be connected (and from my friend's phone I know I have several apps that should appear).
Upon tapping friends, it does show me a list of suggested friends pulled from Facebook, but attempting to send a friend request results in the following screen. After accepting the error box, the "send" button for the request is grayed out and unavailable regardless of adding or deleting friends and/or an accompanying message.
In short, the Game Center is completely unresponsive for no discernible reason, and this problem began with no warning and is now long term. Though my iPhone is older (a 4s), my friend's is even older (a regular 4) and works fine.

I am having the very same problem on my iPad running ios 7. All is fine on my iPhone it opens no problem - this is running on ios 8. I wish they would fix it.

  • Panasonic network cameras no longer work with new versions of Firefox.

I have been viewing my Panasonic Network camera, model BB-HCM381A using Firefox for several years.
Starting with Firefox version 15.0.1 and again with 16.0.1, 16.0.2 and 17.0.1 the browser begins to display the streaming video, but then drops the signal after maybe 20 seconds. Refreshing the page brings back the image for another 20 seconds, and then drops it again.
All previous versions of Firefox before version 15.0.1 worked great. Now I have to use Internet Explorer exclusively. It would be great if you could fix the problem.
Example of viewing the streaming video can be found at www.bandon.tv, which may require installing a plug-in from Panasonic.

I see the same happen, but it takes longer. It is possible that the server gets too many visitors and drops some of them. A right click and "This Frame > Reload This Frame" also works. I also notice that frames get blocked (it skips seconds), so you may need a faster server.

  • Is there anyone who can recommend a network Camera that works with OS X10.9

I just upgraded to Mavericks and love the OS.  I just updated my printer to an HP that is compatible with Macericks and it works wonderfully!  Now I am looking to add a network camera that allows multi camera viewing and can be viewed on my Iphone or Ipad or Macbook, etc.  Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what to try.  All the major brands that have high ratings are compatible with 10.6 or 10.7, but I see no mention of 10.9 - any suggestions would be great!

For what it's worth, I purchased the Axis 207W. Indeed it worked with Safari via Bonjour.
The setup took a while to figure out, but wasn't any more difficult than setting up a wireless router.
With things set properly I can view the camera from anywhere on the Internet and get e-mails sent when motion is detected by the camera.
All this and it works well with my Apple set up (laptops and Airports).

  • MacBook Air 2013 with Mavericks 10.9.1 has Facetime HD Camera issues

Hi, I've been using a new 2013 MacBook Air with 10.9.1 for the last 3 weeks (I used to have a 2010 Macbook Pro 15 with Mavericks) and the Facetime HD camera is having issues being detected by different applications.
In my case I mainly use Google Hangouts, Skype, and sometimes Facetime. The problem lies on that the camera sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't.
I usually reboot the camera with 'sudo killall AppleCameraAssistant' and that makes it work, but it shouldn't be like that.
Please note that this was not happening with my 2010 MacBook Pro with Mavericks. I changed to this new 2013 MacBook Air only 3 weeks ago. Nevertheless, people that I work with (who use retina macbooks with Mavericks) are not having this issue.
Last week I had to install a plugin (in chrome) for a new online site similar to Hangouts called BlueJeans. Bluejeans very seldomly recognizes the cam, only when I reboot it with the 'line' above or reboot the machine. The people I work with didn't have any issues, so I suspect this has to do with 2013 MacBook Air's Facetime HD cameras which might be different to the rest, or too new on the market.
It's as if when I start using it in Hangouts and then hang, later it might not work in Skype, or viceversa.
If you can help, that'll be great, and I appreciate it. Nevertheless, I feel Apple must take care of this in the next Mavericks update (many people are having camera issues).
    Jimmy

    Hi Jal1980
    I had the same pb...
On my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 I Had a problem with my video on skype, facetime, photoboot....
I have tried all the solution offered in every forum and never got to a satisfying result. I downgraded to mountain lion from mavericK without result. I reseted the Pram or SMC (I forgot), and other things, I played with the plugin /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/, I tried several version of skype.... NONE of this solution worked....
Until that day a friend came to my place and installed AppleJack for Mac, a free software (http://download.cnet.com/AppleJack/3000-2094_4-40293.html) that totally solved this issue amongst others...
Here is the full page of the program http://applejack.sourceforge.net/man.html
And here quick instructions on how to use the program. Have fun!
Restart your computer. After you hear the startup chime, press and hold down the
Cmd and s keys together (this will put you in single user mode). You should soon get a Terminal-type screen with a dramatic garble of indecipherable messages and a shell prompt that looks something like [root#]
    2. Now, type applejack at the prompt. (If you’ve installed applejack manually, or have not created an alias to applejack for the root user, you may have to enter the full path to the script at the prompt.) You will be guided through a series of steps that will repair your drive and delete possibly corrupted files. Options are selected by typing the number corresponding to the task you want to perform, and then hitting the return key. For example, when you see a few different options, like this:
[1] Option One [2] Do something else [3] Another task [4] A useful task
From time to time, in interactive mode, you will be asked to answer yes or no to a question. To answer yes, type y and hit the return key. To answer no, type n and hit the return key.
An advantage of using the interactive mode instead of auto mode is that you are given options for also cleaning out user-level caches and preference files. If you would like to clean out your main admin user caches, for example, you will need to use interactive mode.
    3. Auto mode: If you want to leave
applejack to do it’s own thing, just choose option [a] when the script starts. You can also start right up in auto mode by typing: applejack auto at the prompt. applejack will run through all the basic cleanup tasks in order. Alternatively, you can also type applejack auto restart which will tell applejack to do the cleanup tasks and then automatically restart your computer. Other options are: applejack auto shutdown which tells AppleJack to shut down the computer after running its tasks, or applejack AUTO shutdown which tells AppleJack to run automatically in "deep cleaning" mode (see above) and then shut down.
I hope this helps. It completely solved my issue.

  • Video Streaming from a network camera!

    Hi,
Does anybody have an idea how to go about streaming video from a network camera using applets? I know its possible in JMF, but I was wondering if its possible without that because I guess it needs the user to install JMF. Or a way with JMF but total platform independent?
    PLZ.

i am not sure about the archive stuff neither am i very good at java. I am just a trainee here and wa given this task. so I went up searching on google, found these sites and then when I wasnt able to run the applet, I researched about running jmf applet. the setting classpath and stuff is given in the jmf website and even an aaplet which tests if jmf is installed on your system. I was just trying to act as one of the users trying to run the application. i was just trying to find an easier way out but guess there isn't.
now if anybody of you would know how go about getting a video steam from the IP camera using JMF?

please help me i have a cabin in the mountains that is off the grid... and i use solar power... i have my internet access via wifi and an antenna... it goes to a d-link router in my electric room then from there via a cat 5 cable to a apple airport extreme base station... and i would like to plug the camera into the base station via a cat 5 cable....
i am trying to set up a network camera to via a airport extreme base station.... the tech support on the camera end (airlink 101 skyIP cam500 model aicn500) said to enable port 80 and to assign a IP address (which i have)... apple support has been unable to help me after almost 1 hour with tech support.... here is what the camera tech support page suggests....
You will now need to forward the Second HTTP Port through your router to the IP address of the camera. If you have an AirLink101 router, we have instructions in our knowledge base for port forwarding. If you have a router from another company, you will need to contact them for instructions on port forwarding.
When accessing the camera from a remote location you will need to open a browser and type in the internet IP address of your network (not the ip address of the camera) and the port into a web browser. The address and port will need to be typed in like this:
    http://x.x.x.x:port
    x.x.x.x = Internet IP address
    port = Second HTTP Port

  • Retina MBP Camera Issue?

I purchased a 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display around Christmas time in 2012, and right when I opened it up I noticed the camera was pretty bad. I searched online and found that others were having similar issues or it could've just been the lighting. Early January or a little after Christmas (I don't remember exactly when) I took my computer to the apple store in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and they told me it was "just fine." They looked at the camera and compared it to others in the store and said it was okay. This summer, a family member of mine purchased the 2013 13" Macbook Air and I noticed that the camera quality was very good and clear, especially compared to mine. The camera is slow to respond to movement, and has a low frame rate. The picture also just looks pretty bad and pixelated. Also, when I skype with a friend of mine I notice her camera quality looks much better than mine, and she is on a 2010 Macbook Pro. I paid around $1700 for this computer so I should be getting one that works perfectly fine. Is there anything I can do to fix the camera issue or is there any chance of getting it replaced by Apple? What makes me angry is the fact that the Apple Store told me it was fine when it clearly isn't.

Go to another apple store. Also tell them, if it looks fine in the store, take it into a darker room. These camera's have differen't ISO's and yours could be "fine" in the clear day light but may not be when it's sensor doesn't have enough light. This can be due to a number of factors. But they have to fix it because it's under a year old. You just got to find a way to prove it.
You need to find the situation where it looks at it's worse and see how the lighting is and show them that. If you hold shift command and 3 at the same time it'll take a screen shot of your camera. That makes a picture of it which you can show also.
There are different camera's in different year's models also though. For example, my thunderbolt display camera is much better than the camera on my MacBook pro, they are both from 2012.

  • Why can't I run the latest Java on Firefox to operate my network camera? It does not find Java. Please Help!!

I just installed a network camera in my home correctly and signed in to view what was on the camera. But after logging in , info comes up with" cannot find Java" with an install button. I have the latest update of Java and the Firefox browser. There is no red block in the search bar that asks me to allow the site to use Java nor does it ask me to allow the site. I did uncheck the box in the control panel as it tells me to do in Java so that it asks me to use Java. Nothing works. I am so tired of installing and uninstalling, clearing my cache. Opening and closing my browser and reading info to fix this. I just want to be able to view what my camera films. Nothing on the firefox site answers or solves my problem. And believe me I've tried til my head is spinning. Someone has to have an answer. I need a vacation after this...Lol...
    Thanks...

The Java plugin doesn't show in the System Details List.
Is 32 bit Java installed on your computer?
You can find the latest Java version on the Oracle website.<br />
See Java Platform > Java SE 7U45 (JRE Download)
You need the 32 bit JRE for Firefox.
