Network Configuration Manager

Hi
I have just successfuly installed 9i R1 V901 Database (Enterprise Edition) and 9iDS V902 onto a single PC environment with MS Windows XP Pro OS.
When installing DS, I chose to close the Network Configuration Manager and do this at a later time. This I think was the wrong decision and now I cannot connect my Form (Forms Developer) to a database and am a little confused with how to hook this up. I'm a bit new in this area.
Would appreciate some direction/help.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards
Don C

  • Configuration Management Software

    Hi all,
    I'm putting it out there early. In two weeks (Dec 14th) I am going to release rConfig. This free and open source software has been over a year in the making and is specifically designed by a highly expereinced network engineer (Me!) for network engineers. And the best part IT'S FREE (oh yes, I mentioned that already).
    What is it? A Free, and Open Source, Network Configuration Management tool. Web based, fast, and customizable. Installs on Linux CentOS and written completely in PHP/MySQL.
    You can download the running-configs, cdp neighbor table, OSPF Neighbor table, BGP prefix table, routing table for routers, as well as show route for firewalls and show spanning-tree for switches easily... actually... whatever show command you care to choose for a given category of network devices.
    Why? Well, for me, a 'show run' and 'show start' from my network device configuration management tool wasn't enough. I needed more. I needed to see what my routers routing table looked like last week. I needed to know how many hits were on a particular ACL entry on my edge firewall two months ago and compare it to today. I wanted to know, which interface was the root bridge path (spanning-tree) on my one of my core switches yesterday. That's why!
    I am hoping to expand features as the community around this tool grows. It will be community led - I hope you can join early.
    Go check it out at www.rconfig.com, and if your interested, sign up for a beta release. I am still releasing content on the public site, so a video is due soon, and perhaps an online demo too. Any questions, just fire them back to me.
    Please forward to anyone you may think be interested
    Regards
    Stephen

    A free, open source network device configuration management tool, customizable to your needs!

    All,
    There has been some uptake and some great feedback on rConfig since I made this announcement two weeks ago. rConfig is offically released as Version1 today. Please login to www.rconfig.com and download a copy.
    You know, it takes less than 1 hour to install rConfig on Linux and more than 2 hours to get some of it's well known commercial counterparts up and running. There is even a complete, easy-to-follow Linux build document designed especially for the rConfig installation on www.rconfig.com. You'll be backing up Cisco configuration and show outputs in no time with rConfig. And even learning a bit of Linux along the way.
    And remember, it's free & open source.
    Regards
    Stephen

  • Management network configuration

    Hi,
    Oracle configuration worksheets suggest two option under table 5 : Management Network Configuration Worksheet :
    Select which network is used for the database server host name. The options are :
    admin network
    or
    client network.
    1) Regarding best practice which network i should choose ?
    2) If i choose "admin network" , is that mean that i will not have the option to run exadata/cluster/database command directly from the database host ?
    Thanks
    Edited by: Yoav on 07:02 13/05/2012

    robinsc wrote:
    Whenr they installed our system it took the admin host names by default. I did n't know there was a choice. So if you want to change the names at a later pointof time is there any standard way to do this or you have to live with what was there before...
    Or do you just edit /etc/hosts and /etc/sysconfig/network ?
    ThanksThis is a fairly recent change in the configuration worksheets. I wouldn't want to change the hostnames in a cluster, as it could lead to problems inside of grid infrastructure. When changing hostnames or IPs on an Exadata rack, you want to use the ipconf utility, not just change the values in /etc/sysconfig/...
    If you change the IP on a cell without ipconf, then you could run in to trouble when patching. We've seen cells that reset to the previous IP after patching when a customer changed the IP without using ipconf.

  • VSA Manager 5.1 stuck in "Validating VSA Cluster Network Configuration"

    Hi all!
    I am experiencing a problem with VSA Manager 5.1.3.0 running on a Win2008R2 server with vCenter 5.1 build 1123961. When I open the VSA Mananger tab in the VI Client it displays "Validating VSA Cluster Network Configuration".
    When trying to close the window it says:
    I have tried to open the VSA Manager tab on another server with the VI Client installed but the result is the same. I have also tried to upgrade the VSA Manager to 5.5 but it stayed the same.
    The cluster with the VSA nodes is working normally but I cannot manage VSA or upgrade the environment. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
    Best regards
    Kenneth

    Sorted with HP support, needed some extra tagging, jumbo frames and flow control.

  • Cry for help: a decent network profile manager

    Am I the only one that finds the default arch linux network profile management a bit.. lacking? Maybe I just don't have it set up right, but it only works for my ethernet connection and connecting to non-encrypted wireless networks. Problem is, I run WPA2-AES networks at home and at work. I finally got wpa_supplicant properly set up (I'm on wireless right now), but I can't just select the network profile from the menu and be on my way.
    Here is what I have to do to get connected right now:
    [root@cdl-magnesium chris]# wpa_supplicant -dw -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dmadwifi -iath0
    [root@cdl-magnesium chris]# dhcpcd ath0
    and I'm connected, everything working great. That's fairly simple, right? I'm thinking my network profile has a lot more in it than necessary.
    # Network Profile
    DESCRIPTION="57 May"
    # Network Settings
    INTERFACE=ath0
    #HOSTNAME=myhost
    # Interface Settings (use IFOPTS="dhcp" for DHCP)
    IFOPTS="dhcp"
    #GATEWAY=192.168.0.1
    # DNS Settings (optional)
    #DOMAIN=localdomain
    #DNS1=192.168.0.1
    #DNS2=
    # Wireless Settings (optional)
    ESSID="Galactica"
    #KEY=
    #IWOPTS="mode managed essid $ESSID channel 6 key restricted $KEY"
    WIFI_INTERFACE=wifi0 # use this if you have a special wireless interface
    # that is linked to the real $INTERFACE
    WIFI_WAIT=5 # seconds to wait for the wireless card to
    # associate before bringing the interface up
    USEWPA="yes" # start wpa_supplicant with the profile
    WPAOPTS="-D madwifi" # use "" for normal operation or specify additional
    # options (eg, "-D ipw")
    # see /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf for configuration
    #AUTOWPA="yes" # automatically configure WPA
    If I do a /etc/rc.d/network restart and select the profile from the menu, I get all sorts of errors about not being able to connect to wpa_supplicant (because for some reason it isn't running.. was I supposed to do something about that?).
    I'm a bit tired right now so pardon any incomprehensible sentences or questions
    ps: while we're on the subject, is there a way to re-sort the items in the network profile list? It always wants to connect to this broken wpa2 profile first, as I think it just goes in alphabetic order or somethin. I guess I should just turn off the timeout so it always waits for me to choose.

    i'm working on one.

  • Problems trying to install configuration manager.

    Hi I've been trying to install SCCM 2012 onto a 2012R2 server. It is the second server on the network. The first is the domain controller, DNS and DHCP server. First I try to enable the roles specified BITS etc.
    Then I install SQL server 2012.
    Then I install ADK 8.1.At this point I install SCCM configuration manager.
    The procedure fails here at the prerequisite check, stating that various elements are not installed for example User state migration tool. Windows deployment tools, windows pre-installation environment etc.
    All these programs are installed on the sytem yet config manager does not seem to see that the software is in fact installed.
    Would you have any pointers to a possible solution?
    Brian

    What version of ConfigMgr are you trying to install?  ConfigMgr 2012 R2 will require the Windows 8.1 ADK to install those components.  Make sure you have ConfigMgr 2012 R2 install media.
    I hope that helps,

  • XML Schema validation error in network configuration. Missing DnsRef

    When ever we try to make changes to a Virtual network we receive
    XML Schema validation
    error in network configuration. Missing DnsRef
    We can't make any changes to the Virtual network.
    The DNS ref exists as well.
    Considering exporting network config and re-importing however we have a lot of networks configured and want to be sure this is the correct way to proceed.
    Any feedback much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    We are having the same problem, so you are not alone.
    I had an extensive call with Azure premium support and we where able to determine that:
    - Nothing is missing or in the wrong place in my exported .xml file.
    - Any changes to the VNET's using the web gui interface of https://manage.windowsazure.com is not possible when you have dns servers and use an gateway
    - You can download the .xml configuration file of the network and make manual changes to it, then import it again , to add/remove dns servers and or subnet's.
    I am currently waiting for an solution,  i have let them lower the urgency from A to B (because i can make changes trough xml) and responded to the next support contact (saying he will continue with the issue) that the problems seems to be with azure and
    he should speak with the previous person helping me.  I have not heard from Azure support since.

    I hope microsoft is going to resolve this soon, as i do not want to edit my xml for little things like adding a subnet all the time. I have requested an status update in the issue.
    Should anyone have more information on this, please share it here.

  • Enrolling iOS devices "not shown in Configuration Manager console"

    After successfully enrolled my Windows RT I want to enroll my iOS devices (iPad 1 & iPhone 4). First step is completing the iOS configuration (uploading APN certificate). Next step I associated my devices by installing management
    profiles (https://manage.microsoft.com). All my application appears when starting the Company Portal App but my device will not appear in my Configuration Manager admin console.
    When I select the Support tile in the Company App it says "Name not yet available", I'm not sure if this is a normal behavior?
    Any thoughts/pointers are welcome.

    I'm trying to use the new Kerberos Configuration Manager for SQL Server tool that was released recently to verify SPN on several SQL Servers, but any time I attempt to connect to a server I get the following error in the log:
    6/24/2013 3:48:22 PM Info: Connect to WMI, \\<HOSTNAME>\root\cimv2
    6/24/2013 3:48:25 PM Error: Access of system information failed System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.PrincipalOperationException: An error (1332) occurred while enumerating the group membership.  The member's SID could not be resolved.

       at KerberosConfigMgr.Utility.Login(String serverName, String login, String password, Boolean isCmdLine, Form uiForm)
    Things I have tried to resolve this:
    1. Verified that my account is a Domain Admin.
    2. Attempt to connect locally without inputting any information for server/user/pw
    3. Attempt to connect remotely using server/user/pw
    I always receive the same error message and log: Access of system information failed!
    Has anyone else run into this issue?

    Update to this:
    There were some invalid user accounts added to the Local Administrators group only showing up as a GUID. This caused the enumeration of the group to fail and generate the error in my original post. Removing those user accounts from the Administrators group
    got past the enumeration error.
    However, now when attempting to connect to the servers (locally or remotely) I get this error:
    6/27/2013 10:24:24 AM Info: Connect to WMI, \root\cimv2
    6/27/2013 10:24:38 AM Error: Access of system information failed System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070035): The network path was not found.

  • Oracle Configuration Manager - No database target

    Hi,
    i've installed the latest version of the oracle configuration manager (10.3.3.1.0) in my database home and ran the installCCRSQL.sh script successfully against the database instance.
    Unfortunately i don't see any database instance target in the metalink system section nor if i run the "emCCR disable_target" command. A "Host", "Oracle Home" and a "Oracle Configuration Manager" target are available.
    For the installation, i set the following environment variables:
    ORACLE_CONFIG_HOME=/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1
    OLDPWD=/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/ccr/bin
    ORACLE_SID=MIST
    ORACLE_BASE=/oracle
    TNS_ADMIN=/oracle/admin/network
    HOME=/home/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1
    I'm running oracle enterprise linux 5.4 and oracle database 11.1.0.7.
    Can anyone tell me why I don't have a database instance target?

  • Re: Container Based Software Configuration Management

    I've read the overview of Container Based Software Configuration Management and
    have to admit that it is a nice concept. In fact, our SCM product SiberSafe Expert
    2.0 (www.siberlogic.www) almost literally follows the guidelines mentioned in
    the overview except that we call it Component Management.
    SiberSafe recognizes the fact that most of software projects consist of software
    components that have been inherited from and are being reused in other projects.
    SiberSafe was built on the premise that it is critical to be able to version components
    consisting of multiple files and folders so that a new project can be created
    out of particular versions of multiple exising
    components.
    SiberSafe also recognizes the fact that various versions of various components
    may be distributed not only across multiple projects, but also across multiple
    lines of development (we call them "development streams"). This is why SiberSafe
    makes the propagation of new versions of components from their "home" streams
    into other streams where they are used and reused
    as simple as a mouse button click.
    When a few projects have a few development lines (streams) each and there are
    tens or even hundreds of software components reused across these projects and
    streams, it becomes pretty difficult to keep track of what went where and when.
    What is the version of a specific java bean that our project currently uses? Is
    there a newer version for that bean available? What verson of that bean do other
    projects use? In order to provide users with
    clear answers to this kind of questions SiberSafe automatically generates a visual
    development flowchart that graphically shows relationships and interactions among
    various components, component versions, projects and lines of development.
    In fact, SiberSafe can easily generate such a flowchart even for a single file,
    showing the full "travel" history of that file across projects and streams.

    All,
    There has been some uptake and some great feedback on rConfig since I made this announcement two weeks ago. rConfig is offically released as Version1 today.

  • Support for Software Configuration Management(SCM) Tools

    Hi!,
    I am using JDevloper for my project.
    I want to maintain the versions of all files in the project.Also,if all are using one Workspace on network and someone updates a file then message box got dispalyed asking for reloading buffers again.
    So to avoid this and maintain versions I want to use Software Configuration Management (SCM)Tools.So does JDeveloper supports for SCM tools?If yes kindly tell me how to use it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The upcoming release of JDeveloper (3.2) has support for SCM. In this release, support has been integrated with Oracle's own SCM product, Oracle Repository. In future releases, other SCM products (e.g. CVS) will be supported.
    When JDeveloper 3.2 is released (should be available at the end of Nov / start of Dec), the installation guide will have full details on how to install the Oracle Repository and use the SCM integration in JDeveloper.
    In 3.1 or earlier, a custom addin exists for JDeveloper that can be used to support SCM systems (see JDeveloper documentation on OTN). However, this is not as tightly integrated as the new SCM support coming in 3.2.

  • SQL Server Configuration Manager (2012 SP1): "IP All" Setting Not Saving

    I have 4 SQL Server 2012 SP1 clusters, and under Network Configuration ->
    TCP/IP -> Protocol (tab), I am able to switch
    Listen All from Yes to No. However, when I hit
    OK (or Apply), I get the message:
    Any changes made will be saved; however they will not take effect until the service is stopped and restarted.
    OK, fine.
    Now, if I re-open the TCP/IP properties, Listen All is back to
    Yes.
    This happens even after I restart the SQL Server service, and it happens on all 4 instances.
    I have checked the version of Configuration Manager - 2011.0110.2100.060. I've compared this with a (non clustered) SQL Server 2012 where I can flip the
    IP All field at whim, the versions are the same (as are the SQL Server versions,
    11.0.3000.0 Build 7601).
    I've also ensured that under IP Addresses, the one that I want to use has
    Enabled = Yes, all other IPs have Enabled = No.
    Neither BOL nor Google have any useful information for me.
    Has anyone seen this before? Bug or WAD (and I'm doing something wrong)?

    Hi,
    Per
    Case 4: SQL Server is installed in a clustered environment:
    On cluster, you cannot configure SQL Server to listen on a specific IP addresses. You must chose IPALL. The IP addresses on which the cluster instance will be listening on is determined by cluster resources (configurable through Cluster Administrator,
    by adding IP Address resources under SQL Network Name resource).
    Here is a workaround:

  • Network configuration

    Hello,
    I have two hyper-v hosts (failover cluster on Win2012) with two 10 Gbps each.
    I'm using manual http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj735302.aspx#bkmk_2
    It says that I should set AllowManagementOS attribute to false
    New-VMSwitch “20GbE switch” –NetAdapterName “2x10GbE” –MinimumBandwidthMode Weight –AllowManagementOS $false
    but when I'm creating virtual nics it changes to true
    Is it normal and why should I set this option if it's not working ?
    What is the best practice for my configuration ?
    1. Use nic teaming for redudancy(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj735302.aspx#bkmk_2)
    2. Do not use teaming (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff428137%28WS.10%29.aspx)
    1st nic      Virtual machine access + Management
    2nd nic      Cluster,CSV + Live migration
    no nic redudancy
    Thank you

    is a good place to start to understand a lot of the recommendations for setting up Hyper-V.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40319 is a document you should read before
    you set up NIC teaming with Hyper-V.  This document was written by the Hyper-V networking product manager.
