Network Confirmation

Hi gurus.
If I confirm a network activity in tcode CN25, the field Actual Finish (time) will be filled with 240000. How can I change this value to the real actual finish time?

Hi,
If your UoM for duration(under scheduling in Internal tab of activity) is day then you wont get actual time field to enter in CN25, If you UoM for duration is Hr then you will see the actual time field.
But still you will get the option of entering actual time for UoM day in CN27(collective confirmation) but not in CN25.

Network confirmation cancell. thru CN29,when past posting period isnot open

Hi Gurus,
I have one query regarding netowrk confirmation. In our scnario, we are confirming network activity/element directly through CN27. Now after confirmation, due to some mistake we are trying to cancel that confimration through CN29 but system gives me error that "posting period is not open". As my network confirmation was done in the month of March'10 and i am trying to cancel it in April'10 that's why system is not allowing me to canel the confimration.
Now my query is that how to cancel the network confimmation without opening past posting period. I looked into the configuration for network confirmations but there is no setting available to allow cacellation of network confirmation done in posting period which is not open now.
however in CAT5, we have a option where we can enter cancellation posting date, and system allows to cancel time postring for that period also which is closed now (by putting cancellation posting date belonging to current posting period wihhc is open).

I have not verified the same on system, but It's quite good observation. I think it's standard behavior in system and could be possible, in CN29 you are not having option to put posting date, so, system is taking date of posting date on which it got posted for reversal. i.e. March 10, but period is closed for that date. so, system is giving you error that period is closed.
Now coming to CAT5 if you give posting date of March 10, and try to reverse this document system will give you same error of period close. but if you give posting date of period April 10 system will allow to post. Because current period is open. Reversal program works in SAP based on some logic for different documents.
If you wanted to check why system is behaving in that way in that case, compare both documents ( original posted and reversal document posted in CAT5, check after posting reversal document is there any change done by system to original documents , I understand mostly system put reversal tick mark or so, in original document and give reference document in new documents )
Please check and revert back.

What kind of additional information they want to record? Please be more specific.
There is a Text field, you can use that, other wise long text option is also there. But if you use the long text , it will not appear in the std. reports.

Transfer data after Network Confirmation to another Work Center?

Hi all,
let me explain my problem:
I've defined an activity with 3 activity elements(work). Every activity has it's own Work Center.
Normally a worker uses transaction CN25 or CN48N to enter a Network Confirmation by typing in Network, Activity and Element.
After this he types in his Personell Number and the Actual days or hours and confirms it.
If the user takes for example too much days and confirms it, normally i've to correct the Network Confirmation by using transaction CN29 and tell worker to retry his Confirmation. (Because there are only allowed maximum X hours...)
Is it possible to transfer this too much days to another Work Center by using an transaction???
Is it possible to transfer this entry to another Work Center???
Im not a Cost Specialist, please let me note if there are any Threads which discribe the same Problem...

First of all... There was a mistake in my explanation-it's not I've defined an activity with 3 activity elements(work) it's I've defined a network with 3 activity elements(work).
In our Company every Activity has it's own Work Center. I meant the Identification and view selection in Project Builder (CJ20N) tab Internal --> General Section and here: Work center.
Well, i think my main problem is that i do not know how to correct Network Confirmations without using the delete transaction CN29. For example: Worker confirms on Work Center of Activity A with CN25 oder CN48N, but should confirm on Work Center of Activity B.

Problems with goods movements cancelling network confirmations

Hello experts,
I'm having some problems with goods movement when cancelling network confirmations.
I assign a component for a operation in the project builder (CJ20N). Then when I execute a confirmation for that operation in CN25 everything works correctly, I can assign the time for the confirmation and SAP automatically carries the component assigned to the operation. Once I have done the confirmation the goods movements and the hours have a correct account assignment.
The problem is that if I cancel this confirmation, the hours are correctly cancelled but the component is still there. If I try to cancel the goods movement with MIGO it is no possible because the system says that must be cancelled with the corresponding transaction (CN29) but, as I have said, the system does not cancel it.
On the other hand, If the goods movement goes to COGI transaction and then I post-process the error, If later I cancel the confirmation, everything works correctly.
Does anybody know why this could happen?

I think this question was raised earlier also. The best way is to allot a fixed time slot for your users so as to avoid clash. I suppose i explained that the master data of any material is stored at one place only and if you schedule a background job for this then all your good movement transaction will be in que and performed in orderly manner.
If automatic posting is not possible then use the time slot method.

CATs timesheet - Network confirmations

We book time spent on a project through CATs timesheet. Once we book in the hrs in an HR client it gets transfered through IDOCs to the project residing in another client. the transfer creates a network confirmation document. Now due to some reason if there is a requirement to modify the time posted we have to delete the entire confirmation document and repost balance hrs to the project. I know that it is not possible to post -ve hrs in CATs. Also it is very difficult to correlate the time booked to its confirmation document, Is there a way out?

Normally, you can go back into the timesheet and cancel/delete the hours posted to the project and the cancellation is posted to the project automatically. You will need to make sure your data entry profile allows changing approved hours. However, I honestly don't know how the process works with IDocs.

Network confirmation with Personnel number

Hi,
In project systems, While confirming the Network with personnel number, the planned cost is calculating based on Activity rate maintained in KP26. However for actual costs, the calculation is from HR I assume. Am I right?
If it is from HR, where in HR the time sheet rate is maintained for the personnel number?

I got the answer.
FYI
If the network confirmation is entered with the personnel number, the system is looking for the "Position" in HR master and based on that it is picking the workcenter assigned with this resource. So the cost is from the activity assigned in the workcenter even though the network is confimed with a different work center.

Bapi for network confirmation

Hi all,
I am using BAPI_NETWORK_CONF_ADD to confirm actual duration against the network/activity. I am executing the BAPI in se 37 and I am getting successfully message i.e. confirmation has been posted for network xxxxxxxxxxx .
But it is not updated into database i.e. its is not visible in table AFRU.
Please can you tell what are necessary parameters to be passed for database updation?

Hi Sridhar,
Try in a simple program by passing your values into this BAPI and use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT after that and it will update the tables.

BAPI for Network activty confirmation.

Dear All,
I am using BAPI "BAPI_NETWORK_CONF_ADD" for network activity confirmation. When I am entering the activity data and running this function module, I am getting system message network confirmation is saved and also get a confirmation number. But when I look at AFRU (confirmaiton table), I can not see this number, also same is not reflected on the network activity.
Has anybody came across the error like this ? What can be the probalbe reasons for this ? I am using version 4.7 here.

Mahendra, there is a blog available on how to use BAPI in PS, it shows in steps what are the necessary step to be carried out for executing the BAPI like BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT evern with a sample code, you can search for it, the details are available.

I have Fios. I have the TC connected via ethernet to the Fios router. TC WAN port ethernet to Fios Lan port. Then I just have the TC create a wireless network that is different than the Fios wireless network. How do I set up an Airport Extreme to the TC?

The Airport Extreme is a 4th Gen unit. I just want to keep the TC wireless name to go further through my house.

The Ethernet connection will be from one of the LAN <-> ports on the TC to the WAN port (circle of dots icon) on the AirPort Extreme.
Then you can use AirPort Utility - Manual Setup to configure the AirPort Extreme as follows:
Click the Wireless tab located just below the row of icons
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network (Not "extend a wireless network" as many users incorrectly think)
Wireless Network Name = Same name as your TC network
No check mark needed next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Radio Mode = Automatic
Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Same setting as the TC network
Wireless Password = Same setting as the TC network
Confirm Password
Click the Internet icon
Click the Internet Connection tab
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and restart the entire network
Computers on the TC network will now be able to move to the area where the AirPort Extreme is located and not have to "switch" networks. This is known as a "roaming" network.

Cannot extend my network using AirPort Express

I just purchased a Time Capsule (2TB) and replaced my Airport Express WiFi. My intention was to expand my network, using the AirPort Express to expand the Time Capsule signal. I have tried several times and cannot get it to work.
Using AirPort Utility, I set up the Time Capsule successfully, making certain the "Allow the network to be expanded" box was checked off.
After resetting my AE, I plugged it in, it was detected by AirPort Utility, and I set the AE to expand the network, using the same network name, security, and password. When I save the settings and update, the AirPort Uitility returns an error stating that the AE unit could not be located. AE unit is flashing amber (slowly).
What DID work was connecting the AE to the Time Capsule with an ethernet cable, but this is not ideal, since I want to locate the AE away from the TC and wish to do it wirelessly.
Can someone offer some helpful suggestions that will work?
(Running MacBook Pro w/ OS X 10.7.2 and AirPort Utility 5.5.3.)

I would suggest the following:
Please move the AirPort Express (AX) to the same room as the Time Capsule and perform a Factory Default Reset as follows:
Pull the AX from power
Wait a few minutes
Hold in the reset button and continue to hold it in for an additional 8-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the AX back in to power
Release the reset button after the hold period, and allow 40-45 seconds for the AX to display a slow, blinking amber light
Temporarily, connect a spare Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to your AX
Open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab below the row of icons to name your AX, assign a device password and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab and adjust your settings as follows:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Nework Name = Same name as your Time Capsule wireless network
Enter a check mark next to Allow wirelss clients
Wireless Security = Same setting as your Time Capsule wireless network. You may need to refer to the Time Capsule settings if you are not sure what setting to use
Wireless Password = Same password as the Time Capsule wireless network
Confirm Password
Click Update to save your settings
Close AirPort Utility and disconnect the Ethernet cable as soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored successfully on the AX
Wait 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart and display a green light
You can now locate the AX where it is needed, assuming that it can receive a good wireless signal at its new location

MIxed Wifi and Powerline Network with Airport Express

Can anyone help set up a network using both wifi and ethernet?
I currently have a BT Home Hub ADSL router providing wifi throughout my house and 2 airport expresses to stream music from my iMac. The problem is that the sound occasionally drops out. I've tried most of the common fixes from the discussions but nothing seems to work reliably. My next step is to try and use powerline adapters. If possible I want to use the following configs simultaneously:
1. BT Home Hub (Broadband) to wifi throughout the house inc my iMac.
2. IMac to powerline adapter to powerline adapter(s) to airport express(es). I have 3 200Mbps adapters.

Each AirPort Express that is connected to the network using an Ethernet connection should be configured as follows:
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab located just below the row of icons
Assign a separate name to each AirPort Express
Assign a device password for each device
Adjust Time Zone settings
Remove the check mark (if present) next to "allow setup over WAN"
Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as your BT wireless network
No check mark needed next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Radio Mode = 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) a good choice
Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Exact same security setting as the BT wireless network. If settings are not exact, the network will not function correctly.
Wireless Password = Same password as the BT wireless network
Confirm Password
Click the Internet icon
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and allow the AirPort Express to restart
When all Express devices have been configured, power down the entire network....all devices...order is not important
Start the modem/hub first and let it run a few moments by itself
Start each AirPort Express one at a time about a minute apart
Sart each network device the same way until everything is powered back up

Confirmation CO11N - Activity Type

Hi Gurus
Is it possible to modify CO11N (Time Ticket) screen to include Activity Type while entering confirmation for the operation.
The reason Iam asking this is because I have a situation at my clients place that the same operation can be performed by Operator as well as Engineer. Since Operator and Engineer have different activity rates, is it possible that they can enter Activity Type while confirming the Operation.
Any solutions for this would be deeply Appreciated.
PS: I know this can be done if we have HR Module implemented where in we can link personnel number to capture cost, but right now client is not going for HR Module.

Thanks for the advise.I thought of this too and suggested client about this.
They were apprehensive that what if they didn't select the right activity type while confirmation, meaning to say that if Operator selects Engineers activity, it could have lot of repercussions from costing point of view.
One more point to clarify is that the Operation will be done either by Operator or Engineer but not by both at the same time.
So i was working on this line whether they can select activity type directly at CO11N rather than entering time in respective activity.
SAP has this kind of option for network confirmation(CN25 , Project System Module) where in they can select the activity type in the confirmation screen. I was looking for the same kind of option in CO11N.
Not sure why SAP has not given this option in CO11N, i don't see any contradiction of logic here.

Trying to set up Express to extend network. Had problems and now it does not show up in the Utility window? How can I overcome this?

It just blinks Yellow but will not show up in list so I can work with it. What do I do? Is it now a brick?

On the AirPort Extreme setup.....I assume that you did enter a check mark in the box next to "Allow this network to be extended"
Otherwise, the following instructions will be of no value.
Temporarily, connect the Ethenret cable from your computer to the AirPort Express (AX) and power up the AX in the same room or close proximity to the AirPort Extreme.
Open AirPort Utility, select the AX, and click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab just below the row of icons to name the AX, assign a device password (write that down) and adjust Time Zone settings
Click the Wireless tab next to the Base Station tab. Settings should look like this:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the AirPort Extreme wireless network
Check mark entered next to Allow Wireles Clients
Wireless Security = Same setting as the AirPort Exreme network
Wireless Password = Same password as the AirPort Extreme network
Confirm Password
Click Update
As soon as you see the message that the settings have been stored, close AirPort Utility and disconnect the Ethernet cable
Wait 40-45 seconds for the AX to restart and you should have a green light
Locate the AX approximately 1/2 the distance from the AirPort Extreme to the area that needs more wireless coverage and power it up
The AX should now be providing more wireless coverage
