Network connection good, explorer good, but no safari or mail

First post and could really use some help. I have been using a belking pre N wireless router to connect to my comcast cable internet account. The network is set up using my PC and I have an airport express card in my Imac. Everything was working fine for quite a while but about 6 months ago I lost the ability to connect to the internet from my mac. I get a strong network connection on the mac, I can get to the internet fine from my PC, but cannot get a connection through Safari or mail. Strange thing is, right now I'm accessing the internet wirelessly through my mac using an old version of Internet explorer. I've tried resetting/restarting all of my components but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea on what's going on? Thanks in advance for any help.

It's possible that the issue is with your ISP. Some folks have reported that they needed to change the MTU value (1500 to 1492) of their connection in order to access certain websites or their email.
Change MTU using Terminal

For a "permanent" solution, I suggest using Cocktail.

I got internet connexion through airport and my skype is working well. But I cannot open a web page with Safari or Firefox, or get/send email with Mail application. All three applications tell "you're not connected" !

It sounds as if your DNS server is either misconfigured or is not working properly.
Skype has the numerical IP addresses of servers it uses hard-coded into the program, so it doesn't need DNS to work properly, just an Internet connection.

Then it simply was NOT Brand New. Doesn't matter what the box looked like when you got it or if you went through the setup pages when you first turned it on. If it is registered to some other Apple ID then someone else had originally registered it and locked it to there ID.
Type in the serial number of the system into this page.

Then send it back to Amazon as Used.

Start with the first article to troubleshoot the issue of not getting mail on your iPad. When you get online using safari, check to see if you can log into webmail. Also keep in mind, depending on the account that mail sometimes might not come in if it is a POP account as it may have already been download elsewhere.

Airport network connected on full bars but "no internet connection" and missing lock icon!

this is really frustrating!
I'm using wireless in my house. when i click on my network it connects and it shows perfect connection which is full bars.
on Network Preferences it says that i'm connected to the Airport but when i go to Safari it shows "You are not connected to the Internet" so i click on Network Diagnostic where the 3 network status on top has the green indicator but the ISP, Internet and Server show red and failed.
I don't think there's anything wrong with my internet connection since I'm able to go online using my sister's computer and also on my iPhone.
There's also usually a Lock icon/symbol next to my network's name but when i'm connected to my network the Lock icon seems to be missing but it still shows full bars connection. I really don't get how it's possible to be connected to a network, but no internet connection, while i can access the internet on other devices.
Please help me out here. I've tried ways like going to library>preferences then put the system configuration into Trash, and going to Network Preferences and removing the Airport service and creating a new one.
and one more thing. all mentioned above are when i clicked on Advanced on network preferences then i clicked on TCP/IP and changed the Configure IPv4 from Using DHCP to Manually. When i'm back to using DHCP there's an exclamation point over the airport icon on the top bar and it says no internet connection.

Got my own question answered by a colleague.
He had me create another "Location" in the network pane of System Preferences, then choose it and click Apply. I created a new location which I called 'Airport', chose it and clicked Apply and sure enough, an IP address showed up and all is well.
Justin said it's a network bug in Leopard.

Connected to public wifi but still safari is not connected to internet

can someone help me to my iphone, i dont have a router at home, so that i always go to mall to connect to wifi but when im connected ti it and open my safari still says that im not connect to internet. im reseting the settings but still it doesnt work.. how will i fix this..? i cannot us my ipod touch capabilty..

Most public places require that you agree to their terms and conditions prior to allowing you full access. Next time you connect, tap Settings > WiFi > and then tap the blue ">" next to the network with a check mark. Tap Forget this Network.
Then tap Settings > WiFi and let the touch find the network. Tap on the name to connect and then wait for 20-30 seconds. If the network requires you to agree to Terms and Conditions, a Safari-like page will open up that allows you to do that.

MAC DVD player stops networks connections...no answers in Safari.

This is a constant and repetitive error.
Everytime that I play the any DVD in the DVD player (application version 5.0.3, system version 5.0.6) Safari goes down,. there is no answser if I continue browsing in Safari.I am connected via Airport, and there are no other users browsing -access by ethernet card-
If I remove the DVD and quit DVD player my network connections are restarted, and safari responds ok.
So I can not browse in safari or access internet if I am runing the MAC DVD Player...

I have the same problem.
Apparently, the "Digital Out" channel cannot be shared by multiple running applications, the first one starting takes it and keeps it. You have to stop it to allow an other (single) application to use it instead.
To me it is a bug : the front most application should take the Digital Out channel, and release it when an other one becomes front most, but this bug has apparently being going on for a long time, and Apple does not seem interested in its correction.

Macbook Pro connects to campus wifi but suddenly Safari/Mozilla will not load anymore.

I've had my MacBook Pro for a while now, it's still running Leopard, but that hasn't been a problem. I woke up yesterday morning and the Airport says its connected to the campus network, but when I open Safari/Mozilla/Mail, it will not load, and eventually says that the server will not respond.
I have connected to this network for over a year with no changes/problems
it literally happened overnight. I left my computer to sleep like I always do and when I woke it up in the morning, the internet wouldn't load.
internet works when I use an Ethernet cable
my roommate is sitting next to me with her newer macbook pro connected to the same network that is fucntioning just fine. So it's not the network (not that I could do anything to it if it was)
I've restarted, turned off Airport and turned it back on, deleted network preferences, put in the exact same IP address that my roommate has (hers is different from mine, but mine will not connect with the one she is connected to)...

I solved my issue and I believe it was router related. I have a router through Verizon and their Fios service. My router was old so I caled for a replacement. when I received thereplacement I switched it the router to only accept 802.11n and this did the trick. Problem solved, stupid router.

Sometimes firewalls cause trouble with Facetime, iMessage and other Apple apps - please try to open these ports from your router firewall (or ask somebody to do it if you don't know how).

TS4268 Is there a real fix to get iMessage and FaceTime working with iOS7 on my iPad? Tried that 8.8.8.8 and time rest thing but they don't. Everything else works.... Says the network connection is the problem but only for these two programs.

Apps are on my iPad and worked fine with iOS 6. When iOS7 was loaded, I can no longer sign in to these two apps using my Apple ID. These apps are on my phone and work fine. This problem is on on my iPad.

Have you tried restarting the phone? Hold both Home and Power buttons down until Apple logo appears and phone "reboots".
And have you tried resetting Network Settings?
Settings => General => Reset => Reset Network Settings
You will have to re-enter Wifi Passwords but it might help you get to a more solid connection on your phone.
