Network connection OK but Internet connection lost on laptop

I successfully installed 10.6 on my desktop first. Although I was connected to the network, I had no Internet connection. I fiddled around and did something that fixed the problem (not sure what). Then I installed on my laptop (family pack) and had the same problem: network connection OK, Internet connection not OK. Fiddled some more, but no joy. I've spent hours trying to get to the bottom of this, to no avail. Ran disk utility and network utility just for the heck of it. Anyone know what setting must have changed to knock off my lap top Internet connection? (I have Airport and WiFi through AT&T U-verse.)

In my case the DNS address is greyed out so I cannot select it. What worked for me - occasionally - is changing the Network location to 'Automatic'. I had it set on a custom setting. Unfortunately this is sporadic. It will start to display content then just stops. I can jump-start it by fiddling with location but not always. The Airport range seems to be reduced too but I think that is just the flakiness of the connection.

I'm getting a "Network connection lost" error shortly after the installation of a downloaded app is started. The status bar gets to about 15% and then the installation is interrupted.
I've tried using WiFi and non-WiFi connections, but the result remains the same.
I've noticed other threads on this forum about a somewhat similar issue but no real solution appears in any of them.
My N8-00 was upgraded to the Belle OS over the weekend and it caused most of the apps to be uninstalled. Now I'm trying to get them back but fail to do so because of the error.
Are there any working solutions for this very annoying error?
Or do i have to wait for Symbian Clara (or whatever name they give it) to be installed?

Performing hard reset will set the phone to its default setting. You may have to check the settings of your phone again.  To define the your access points, go to settings> connectivity> settings> network destinations> Internet> options> new access point> Automatically check for available access point> yes. You can choose GPRS connection first and then run the same steps and then set up your WLAN.

  • ARC3: RFS network connection lost at host 'stdbhost'

    Hi there,
having oracle 8.1.7.4 64 bit on Aix 4.3.3 replicating on a twin machine.
While archiving many logs within few minutes i'm having this error:
ARC3: RFS network connection lost at host 'stdbhost'
ARC3: Error 3113 creating standby archivelog file at host 'STDBIDIP.IDI.IT'
ARC3: Error 3113 creating archivelog file 'stdbhost'
Then after few seconds it retries and succeded. My clause in the primary db is:
    SERVICE=stdbhost OPTIONAL REOPEN=180
The problem is that sometimes it does not succeed so i loose some archives and there's a gap sequence. Unfortunately i loose some archives that after the backup of the primary are deleted so i can't apply get them. The only way is to restore those files. But i can't every time do this!
My database was replicating from about two months without problems. Then we activate it for test and now i rebuilt it but now having problems i mentioned above.
I have followed the same procedure.
I was guessing why i'm getting that error. How can it be solved? I see that on the primary site sometimes more than one archive processes are activated. I was wondering if on the standby site on rfs process was enough to handle all archives arriving at the same time. If not is it possible to activate more rfs'?Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

I am willing to bet it is not linksys. Most likely it is your service provider blocking p2p.
This is a major battle with service providers. If you do some research on this you will see what I am talking about.

  • ITunes network connection lost

I have for the last couple of days, after updating to the new itunes in countered a problem. Every time I check for available downloads I get an error message.
"Unable to check for available downloads. The network connection was lost". I have tested my partners itunes and his seems to be working fine, we share the same  iMac but have different logins, so I'm sure it's not got anything to do with my internet connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Safari network connection lost iOS 7... Only happens on some websites.

I just updated to iOS 7. Safari is working xcept it refuses to load a certain forum. It will start to load it, I can even see the first part of the page that has loaded, then it stops & I get a page that says: Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost. Yet I am able to immediately load other websites, the connection to the internet did not drop. I can use other browsers to view the website. But I would prefer to be able to use Safari as my first choice of web browser. How can this be fixed?
I have already cleared history, cookies, advanced clear website data, turned my iPad off then on. Safari still refuses to load that particular website. Other browsers load that website just fine on the same iPad with the same wifi internet connection. Why won't Safari work properly?

    reset network settings
settings- general- reset - reset network settings
    now reconnect to wifi
settings - wifi- click network name - enter password - join

  • InDesign quits after network connection lost error

InDesign all of a sudden is crashing with the following error:
"The network connection was lost for the file InDesign SavedData, or the file was modified by another process"
    followed by:
Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents." (button) "Return to Finder"
    then:
"InDesign quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."
Then I get the Adobe Crash Report.
Restarting InDesign gives the same results, both opening a file and opening the application directly.
I have trashed InDesign Preferences and tried throwing away the InDesign Recovery folder, but no change.
    Specifics:
    -InDesign CS5, ver 7.0.4.553
    -iMac Core i7, OS 10.7.4
-I am not in a network environment—all InDesign documents are local.
    -InDesign CS4 works okay.
Here is the the crash report:  http://pastebin.com/1ZvvSJCa
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Adobe support tells me Adobe does not support saving files to a server.
Neema: i understand that,InDesign does crashes on server.we have very limited support on servers
Neema: Please try to save the file locally on machine and see the behaviour of indesign.
Jack: I've worked with indesign since the beginning and i never had that problem... only when inadvertently pulling the plug from my computer
Jack: Having files locally is not an option
Jack: Can you tell me what the line in the crash log means?
    Jack: 2 DataBaseLib.dylib 0x000000010efb048a SUIDS::HandleLostNetConnect(IDFile const&) + 74
    Jack: this part specifically:
    Jack: HandleLostNetConnect(IDFile const&) + 74
Jack: I have done extensive searches for this error (specifically with the + 74 at the end. I find many with a different number. Each number means a different reason why the network connection was lost, but there is no mention anywhere of 74
Neema: i do apologize for the inconvenience Jack.Adobe donot recommend saving or opening files from server.
Neema: we donot have support on servers. And cannot commit on its behavior on server
    Jack: That is disappointing!!
Jack: I still need to know the meaning of HandleLostNetConnect(IDFile const&) + 74
Neema: We understand that. But application behaves differently on servers.
Neema: we apologize but we donot know the exact meaning of the error you received. As stated this varies from server to server

  • InDesign Crashing on file open - Missing Font / Network Connection Lost

For starters I am using InDesign 5.5  When I open the file, either by clicking on the file through finder or or opening it through indesign I get the following error message:
The document "file name.indd" uses one or more fonts which are not currently available on your system.
I can't press either Find Font or OK - wheel spins then after 30 seconds or so and then I get the message:
The network connection was lost for the file "file name.indd", or the file was modified by another process.
Press OK. Nothing happens. Activity monitor says Indesign is using 100% of the cpu and not responding. The file is on my local machine and nothing has changed on it since the last time I opened it without issues 3 days ago. I'm not running anything that could be using the file or any of the images the file uses.  I have downloaded and installed the font that was missing and the error message hasn't changed.  Any ideas?

Try the option: save a copy for duplicate a file
    Hope,it works

  • Blinking amber, "no wireless networks found", rescanning, but internet work

OK - so, everything was fine at home with my airport extreme, hardwired to the modem and my Mac Pro. Wireless worked fine on laptop & iPhone. Today I bought an Airport Express so I can stream music to my stereo. Ran Airport Utility and POOF - blinking amber lights everywhere, utility asking me to rescan over and over because it says I now no longer have any wireless networks - even though the internet works fine. Blinking yellow on base station, blinking yellow on express, yet utility just tells me to rescan, and everything else is grayed out. Banging my head against a wall. Anyone have an idea?

You configure the Express via AirPort Utility. If you cannot see the Express when you open the AU app, click on the AirPort icon (of your Mac) on the upper menu. See if the Express network shows up there. If so, log into that network and open AU again to configure it. If that does not work, get an ethernet cable and connect the Express to your computer. If the Express still does not show up on AU, do a hard reset and try again. Once in AU, you can configure it to try and join or extend your network.

  • Airport network connection lost...but I got it back.  What's going on?

I'm connected via AirPort. We use an original Base Station (the 802.11b kind) even though my card is *.g enabled. This works fine.
I have all recent updates applied, including J2SE 5.0 Release 3 and AirPort Update 2005-001.
I lost the connection earlier today. When I tried to get it back, I got "Looking for PPPoE host". After using Network Utility, Network in System Preferences, and Network Diagnostics, I gave up. (I knew it wasn't a problem with the base station because other computers got to the network and Internet fine.)
On a hunch, I thought my preferences may have become corrupted (I found this to be the case after installing 10.4.2) and so I deleted com.apple.NetworkConfig.plist. I then used Network Setup Assistant, which got the network back fine (I've been connected for 5h 45m as I type this, though three hours of it I couldn't find the base station.)
Everything's normal now...but I still want to know what happened.

Turns out the network gets flaky at times. And the HP Toolbox software with my laserjet 1320 caused loss of connection. I got it back by removing the software...

  • Network connection lost after waking from sleep

    iMac (27" late 2013) running Yosemite 10.10.
Ethernet connection direct to the computer from the FIOS router.
Upon waking from sleep, the computer is not connected to the internet.
After about 20 seconds it finally reconnects.
Under Mavericks it never lost the connection by sleeping - was instantly connected upon wake up.
I tried creating a new location under the network system preferences and ordered it so that Ethernet was the first to connect.
    That didn't change anything.
Any suggestions how to fix this?  I don't want to have to wait every time I wake up the computer.
    Really bugging me.

    Update on my situation.
I have tried many things to get this fixed including:
SMC reset (for an iMac this means unplugging it, waiting, and plugging back in)
    PRAM reset
    deleted the "system configuration" folder
Still no luck.  Upon freshly booting the machine, it gets to the desktop and opens up mail for me, but the internet is not connected right away.  Still takes an additional 15seconds or so after Mail boots up to get a connection.  Then everything works fine.  If the computer sleeps, it doesn't have internet upon waking, but again will establish a connection (self assign an IP address) after about 15-20 seconds.
So while not crippling, these 15-20 second waits are very annoying.
Interestingly, this is ONLY with a wired Ethernet connection.  If I use WiFi everything connects right away.  But my WiFi is slower than the wired connection and I prefer to use the wired connection.
    Any further suggestions are welcome.
    Chris

  • InDesign network connection lost.

    Hello all,
I've got a serious problem with my InDesign. When I edit or create documents in InDesign it randomly says (after 5 - 10 minutes) "The network connecion was lost for the file '...indd' or the file was modified by another process.
Here is a screenshot of the error message
After I click on OK, InDesign shut's down. When I reopen InDesign nothing is lost usually, and then after 5 - 10 minutes the same problem.
    I've allready tried several thins to solve this problem;
    - I tried a wierd connection but that diddnt solve the problem (Usually im working wireless)
    - I did make sure that I was the only one wokring with these folders. So nobody els could modify or edit the files.
    - Cancel to recover the document after InDesign shuts down also diddnt solve the problem.
    - When working home, the same problem occurs
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this frustrating problem?
The mac I work on is a MacBook Pro form mid 2010.
Running os X 10.7.2 (aka lion)
    Thank you in advance,
    Roel Swanenberg

    Sorry forgot to mention.
Were working here with a simple domain network ( 10 - 12 users in the domain )
We have one file server, thats were the InDesign documents are saved.
And we got one email sever.
This is mainly a windows network, we got 2 macs connected. (where my macbook is 1 of the 2)
I connect with my macbook to the file server via smb://servername
Never had a problem with that, worked 100% fine for the last year.
And this problem doesnt occur with other files that are stored on the file server (Think of Photoshop documents and Illustrator documents)

  • Afp network connection lost

Powerbook & Macbook Pro sitting next to each other on my desk. I used to have a connection for file sharing, but it ceased to work last week, & I have no idea why. I have tried the Finder/Go/Connect to server etc but that gives me the 'Connection Failed' error message, and I don't have a recollection of having altered the Network System preferences. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Obviously my internet connection via Airport works. I can use the get-around of using the Public file (or even emailing files to myself sometimes) but it doesn't have the functionality of just being able to get into the other computer's files.

Sorry. Some confusion here - probably mine. Just to clarify, where do I find the IP address of the computers themselves? In PB System Profile/Network/Airport Card the IPv4 Address is 10.0.1.3; the router 10.0.1.1; the DNS Server 10.0.1.1 & Server Identifier 10.0.1.1
On the MB System profile/network/Airport Card the IPv4 address is 10.0.1.2; the router is 10.0.1.1 & the DNS & SI are also 10.0.1.1
Are these IPv4 addresses the computers' IP or the Airport's IP?
In Go>Connect to Servers from the PB I'm typing afp://10.0.1.2 which gets the Cannot Connect message.
In Go>Connect to Servers from the MB I'm typing afp://10.0.1.3 which gives me the PB Public folder.
