Network connection timeout

I recently installed the Iphone update 4 and lost all of my music because of it - it was not backed up.
I need to try and get it back.
So I right clicked on purchased and went to available downloads and then I got an error message saying "could not complete your itunes store request. The network connection timed out - please check networking settings" or words to that effect.
I can access itunes store through itunes so it is most strange.
I am using a 3 internet dongle if that is a problem in any way.
Please help

I have the same thing happen to me. My network is very good and only used by my family. Plus the internet connection is to broadband, so I should have this happen. Anything, is it can take up to 3 tries before podcast will download to iTunes. Also, the podcasts take a long time to download like 30 mins. for 4.5 MB, which should be happening either. So does anyone have any ideas what is going on?
Thanks.

  • Network Connection Timeout when "Chkng for available downloads" from iTunes

I have been struggling with this problem for weeks and have spent a significant amount of time trying to diagnose and fix without success.
When I select “Check for Available Downloads” through iTunes, I receive a “Network Connection Timeout” message and iTunes fails to download any information. It does ask me to validate my access with a password before it fails.
This problem initially occurred after I purchased the iTunes Plus updates for my music library. It backlogged about 70 updates that are now sitting in the queue to be downloaded to my local iTunes library. However, since I made that purchase, I have not successfully been able to do any downloads from the iTunes store. I suspect that the volume of items in the queue is related to the problem (as a trigger or the cause).
I have also tried to buy a single song. Although the purchase is successful (it charges my card and adds the song to the download queue), it doesn’t successfully download the song. I cannot, at this time, even get to a point where I can display a list of the queue for download. It always fails when trying to access that available download queue.
Podcast downloads still work fine through iTunes. I have never had problems with the store before and have done very large downloads (e.g. audio books) in the past. I have had no changes to my configuration leading up to this problem.
I am running a relatively new computer with a clean install of Windows 7, plenty of memory and very fast processors. I’ve got high capacity DSL. The connection is wired from the router into my network card (not wireless).
I have tried a number of things as noted below and the problem still occurs:
    1. Confirmed access to internet, and ability to download from other web sites without timeout
    2. Confirmed my ability to access the iTunes store, change my personal information, browse songs
    3. Confirmed ability to download podcasts
    4. Deactivated my windows firewall, antivirus and Net nanny content protection.
    5. Deactivated the router firewall, and placed my PC in the DMZ of the router (which means that it should be wide open to the external network).
    6. Swapped out the DSL modem for a different DSL modem and completely removed the router from the configuration.
    7. Checked my drivers on the network card and made sure they are up to date.
    8. Ran Windows 7 network diagnostics – no problems detected
    9. Ran iTunes network diagnostics – no problems detected
    10. Uninstalled all software related to iTunes and reinstalled most current versions (iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjur, etc.)
    Thoughts?

    have the same problem...still waiting

  • "network connection timeout" while downloading file or updating software

    Hello!
I have a MacBook pro with Lion 10.7.5 and I recently notices the error msg "network connection timeout" poping up everytime I download a file larger than 200mb or do an update on garageband!!! I use VPN at home (student) and downloading stuff goes smoothly on my windows computer. I do not have any sort of anivitus installed on my Mac, nor have I its firewall turned on!! I have tried downloading with both Safari and Chrome and get the same error with both. I have also used both cable and wifi, but no difference whatsoever!!  Any suggestion or help would be much appreciated!!! thank you!

Thanks for the advice. I already upgraded my own iPhone 3GS and yes there seems to be a big drain on my batt life.
What I'm more concerned for my friend is the updates in future future for her iPhone, say a better iOS 5 version?
Why is there such a connection time error when she tries to update via iTunes?

  • Airport does not detect wireless network; it says problem = [network]"connection timeout"

It is not a problem of signal strength, and my Airport detects other networks. It used to detect the network I want to connect to, for two years. It suddenly stopped detecting the network (which is WPA Personal password-protected). When I select choose other network and type in the password, it won't connect to it claiming "connection timeout."
This happened before. Then after several days, Airport was able to detect and connect to the network I want. Now it again won't detect the network, and this seems permanent short of taking measures to address the problem. Should I try connecting manually to the network, and hodo I got about that? Thank you to anyone out there ho might be able to help.

i have a macmini (OS 10.5) and use a belkin wireless router. When I turn on Mac address filtering on the router I have an Intermittent problem. The airport does not recognize the wireless network. On the network preferences panel there is a message that the airport is using a self assigned IP address. sometimes the message says the airport has no IP address. If I turn off the Mac address filtering and use a WAP password only the network is recognised and connects without a problem. How do I resolve this? I dont have the problem with a iBook using system 10.4. Is turning off the Mac address filtering secur?

  • When trying to update iPhone 4 to IOS 4.3, keep getting  "network connection timeout" message.  Help!

Using iTunes and my iPhone 4 IOS 4.1 I keep getting a "network connection timed out" message.  At a lost on what to due.
    Any help appreciated.

HUGELY FRUSTRATING!! Getting a "network connection timed out" error after waiting three hours for the download to complete is unacceptable.  Had this problem running Windows 7 on an HP wireless laptop, IE 8, and Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus.  I had  just updated my iTunes to the latest version so I didn't want to wipe out the whole thing and re-download as some boards suggested (I'd also tried that last year on another computer that did the same thing on an iPod update - didn't work).  I also did not want to totally disable my anti-virus program.
After reading many discussions online about the problem, here's what worked for me on the first try.  You need to add some Apple and Verisign addresses to your Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer:
In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options, Security tab.  Click on Trusted sites, then click the Sites button. I also unchecked the "disable server verification (https) for all sites in this zone" box (under the box that will show your trusted sites).  Here's what I added.  (The underlining here is not mine - done by this site reading my entries as internet addresses.  They won't underline  when you enter them in trusted sites):
    http://albert.apple.com
    http://ax.itunes.apple.com
    http://deimos3.apple.com
    http://evintl-ocsp.verisign.com
    http://evsecure-ocsp.verisign.com
    http://gs.apple.com
    http://itunes.apple.com
    http://phobos.apple.com
Worked like a charm!!  This list was culled from several posts from several different discussion forums. I then closed out IE, restarted my computer (just in case :-) ),and updated through iTunes without a problem!

  • Network Connection Timeout..after its downloaded.

This is ******* me off. I spend a useless $10 to babysit my computer because these morons running the servers can't seem to fix them. It amazes me that this happens EVERYTIME a new update is released and they fail to fix the problem. This is why the Zune is far superior. Anyway, I'm stuck with my piece of junk iPod and I made the mistake of buying the 3.0 update. Everytime it fully downloads, but at the end it says "Could not sync to iPod, network connection timed out." Or something like that.
    my firewall is off.
    antivirus on low settings.
    process manager off.
    brand new installed itunes.
    ipod is connected.
    network connection works.
network connection is not slow, nor is it timing out in real time.
    error code: err= -3259
    ipod is 2nd Gen
enough space on hard drive by far
Ive now tried to download this sht on four occasions, hours apart. this is getting ridiculous. I would call support but they are probably bogged down and I will probably have to pay to talk to some guy who barely speaks english. woopie.
So, in conclusion. Give me my update or give me a refund. I've been more than patient. Or, if someone has a solution to this problem, help me out!

Hi Jared...same happened to me last night. Were you able to fix the problem? Anybody???

  • Network connection timeout error

I have a new computer. I downloaded and installed itunes but when I try to log in to purchase music, I get a "Network is timing out. check your nerwork connection and try again" error. I am operating on Vista. I am able to log onto the internet and my internet provider claims it is not them. Help!!

Bridge Mode is the correct setting for your Time Capsule.
To aid in troubleshooting, I suggest that you temporarily move the Time Capsule close to the Uverse router and connect directly to one of the Ethernet ports on that device. Test to see if your wireless is working.
If yes, then move the Time Capsule again and this time temporarily connect to the Ethernet switch to test that way.
Keep working your way outward, testing as  you go. If the wireless works on the first test when you connect directly to the Uverse router, at some point, you will find the connection problem. It's almost always something simple, like an Ethernet cable that is not making a good connection with one of the Ethernet ports.

  • Network connection timeout during iPhone upgrade

This topic has been mentioned many times but it seems there are still many unresolved cases. So here's another appeal for help, maybe someone will go "AHA" !
I have disabled my firewall by stopping the service. I disable my anti virus software. My connection is hardwired. The connection is FiOs and very fast. The computer is pretty "vanilla" as I don't tinker with it. Another phone/computer in the household is able to upgrade.
The download appears to finish but fails in the processing file step. I assume there is some additional communication back to apple at this point that is timing out for some reason.
Can anyone suggest a workaround? Or perhaps a suggestion of some other windows or network settings that can cause this failure. Something on my system is clearly blocking the communication as I have never been able to upgrade on this computer.
    Thanks.

    Hi
I have the same problem. After waking up the MBP from sleep, my connection to my external Volume via AFP is lost. (ML 10.8.2.)
Though i checked a lot of forums, but didn't find out how to solve this problem.
I hope, somebody will find a solution …
    Cheers

  • 5ghz Network, connection timeout

    Hi all,
So up until today I was able to connect to my 5ghz and 2.4ghz networks just fine. Now today I get a message that the connection timed out whenever I try and connect to the 5ghz.
I have done a 30/30/30 reset, and still no joy. The one thing I haven't done yet is a 30/30/30 with a configuration from scratch. I will probably try that later. I've done the usual things like change the channel and all that, still no go. Anyway, I wanted to see if anyone had experienced anything like this on the new e4200v2.
Other things I've done, change the network name, change the MTU, restart my machine. However, this is happening on other devices as well. The 2.4ghz network, solid as a rock.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nevermind, I got it figured out. I did a factory reset and configured from scratch. Something in my config must have gotten corrupted.

  • Connection timeout while downloading iOS 5.01

Does anyone have such a problem that downloading of iOS 5.01 stops halfway through with this message "Network Connection Timeout"?
No matter how many times I tried the same happens when I tried to help my friend update her iPhone 3GS using iTunes.
How do you solve this problem?

I am getting a connection timeout occurred message on my mid-2009 macbook pro I am running mountain lion 10.8.2 but problem occured before and after update. The message only happens when i attempt to connect to the wifi at my university. It works normal at my home. This error just started last semester out the blue. I have read many forums and non have helped ive reset my pram a few times, ive deleted all my networks including my home network out of my system preferences<network and all that extra stuff. if anyone has a clue please help me because one of my classes requires me to take in class test over the internet. Thanks for reading. If anyone can help PLEASE help ive been trying to fix for last few months.

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.

  • Could not join "wifi network name".  A connection timeout occurred.

    Mac Pro running 10.7.5.
Whenever the computes wakes from sleep or logs in, it no longer automatically connects to my wifi network.  When I manually select the network for from the Wi-Fi status in the menu bar, I get the following message:  Could not join "wifi network name".  A connection timeout occurred.
Even though I get that message the machine joins the network with no other problems.  I am led to believe that is is on the Mac Pro as my Macbook and iPad/iPhone join the network with no issues.
I have tried deleting and restoring the preferred network, and remember networks is checked.  I have also restored my airport express base station.
    Any suggestions?

  • Connection Timeout on All networks

    Hello,
I recently purchased an imac, and am having some networking issues. The current set up is that the internet goes from a 2wire modem/wireless router, to a time capsule, which broadcasts the primary wireless network. It has a WPA2 Password on it. This set up works fine on all other computers (Windows). But on the imac, it detects the networks, but when attempting to connect to them, it gives a connection timeout every time on both networks (Time Capsule and Modem). Should I do a clean install of Leopard, or is there a shorter solution?

Sorry. The topic title got mucked up when I tried to paste in my System Information. And I can't paste it in using my iPhone without it going haywire. I can provide any details you need.

  • A friend brought her computer over signed into network and renamed the network so now I can't sign back into my own network. It keeps saying connection timeout..any ideas?

A PAL CTOAEME OVER SIGNED INTO MY COMCAST NETWORK RUN THROUGH ROUTER
NOW NETWORK KEEPS TELLING ME CONNECTION TIMEOUT
CANT SIGN BACK INTO BACK INTO THE NETWORK

If you have the original router details at hand simply reset the router to factory and reset the lan/wifi settings back to the way you like them.
    Cheers!

  • Connection timeout error trying to connect to wireless network

    Going nuts...
I have my Time Capsule plugged into an outlet that runs back to my switch (Netgear) which in turn goes into my modem (AT&T uverse).
(the switch runs out to about 6 ethernet outlets in my house)
Everything was working grand until I screwed something up, no idea what, of course!
I have set my Time Capsule set up...
    In the AirPort Utility
    AirPort tab
    Wireless mode:create a wireless network
    Connect using: Ethernet
    Internet tab
    Connect using: Ethernet
    Connection sharing: Off (Bridge mode)
From these settings I can see the wireless network I have set up, but I can't connect to it (get a 'connection timeout' error when trying to connect to the wireless network using my laptop)
When I try to change to Conenction Sharing to: 'share a public IP address' or 'distribute a range of IP address', then I get other errors... (DHCP Beginning and DHCP Ending Address Errors).
Any advice would be great - thanks!
