Network connection, which is better?

I will be adding a MAC Pro Tower, dual quad 8, to my wireless network this week. At present, I have one wired connection and 3 wireless connection on my d-link n-protocol network. My question is this:
Should I connect the MAC computer wirelessly or wire it to my router? I will realize faster download and upload times if I do it wirelessly (I think), but this is where I need expertise.

I tend to agree with "Fortuny". My Mac Pro is hard wired via an Ethernet port to my Airport Extreme base station while my MacBook Pro and my wife's iMac are using wireless connections to the internet. Although both are quite reliable in my area, there have been times when the wireless connection has been marginal but my Ethernet connection has always been solid as a rock.

FInally I got my AppleTV and connected it to my TV and network , sadly it took me hours until I succeed to activate airplay after finding out in some forum that I need to reset my network connections and the airplay icon will appear , happily it happend and I start looking for answers regarding the huge lag in mirroring stage ( which still huge problem that have to be solve after I will solve the airplay disappear issue) .
after 10 min the airplay icon disappear at my IPad and iPhone and even resetting the network connection is not helping , please please please some one help !!!

It's not necessary, but is a good troubleshooting step. How to do so varies from brand to brand. Look at the manufacturers website, they should have a manual available that explains how to access the settings and change it.

Statement / Connection Which is better

Howdee. Those that have been reading my posts will know what this is about ;-)
In this app I am updating a java.sql.Connection is created at the beginning of the appiication. A Statement object is created from that. That single Statement object is passed around to the elements of the application.
It is a single Thread environment ( as far as using the Statement Object).
Is it better to use that one Statement object over and over or should the application use the single Connection object and createStatement() for each call.
I would think the first option would be fine since you will be cutting down on method calls to create a new Statement() over and over.
Am I insane (again)

Keeping a statement object open will probably reserve some resources on the database server (depending on the database vendor). So i would only keep the statement object around for short bursts of work, and throw it out when you aren't going to use it right away, and recreate it.

Blackberry Desktop Software slows down Network Connectivity on Win 7 start up

Hi,
I am new so be gently..lol
I am running windows 7 64bit Home Premium. I recently noticed that on start up my PC was taking between 10 and 20 seconds to set up it's network connectivity, which previously was almost instant. There were no erros within the event logs to suggest why this was occuring. The last thing installed was the blackberry desktop manager. I uninstalled this, and found that my network connectivity was now occuring almost instantly again.
Is this a know issue with this software? I have searched the forum but cannot find anything simliar, only people saying it was slowing down start up as a whole which is not what is happening to me.

Typically, if you have installed the RIM DTM software to auto-start every time you boot your PC, the boot time will increase. Personally, I've found no reason to allow DTM to auto-start...I only launch it when I need it.

Is there a way to test for network connectivity (and a way to simulate it)

Is there a way to test for network connectivity, which API to look into? Also, is there a way to test that code in the simulator, that is, to turn off the network in the simulator.

Time capsule doesnt show up anymore but network connection works

I meant to make my user name i hate time capsule. Time machine, I actually like.
Here is the situation, and I am lost as to what to do, and nervous about rebooting or resetting the time capsule.
My network connections work fine. I have an iMAc and a macbookpro that both are getting excellent wireless connections.
The problem is that the time machine backups have stopped working because they cant see the drive anymore. (Initial backups worked fine.)
I did do the firmware upgrade to 7.3.1, but didnt notice anything strange immediately.
Airport Utility is useless. It claims there is no wireless device in range, even though it is using the wireless device to make a network connection.
Now, my first guess is that rebooting the device might help, but I worry that it will be the death of my network connection, which I dont want to do without the ability to commit a day to fixing it.
Any advice is appreciated.

I'm not techno-geek at all, but I had a similar problem when I did something and Airport Utility no longer could find Time Capsule. I tried one thing and TC wound up with the amber light blinking. Ultimately I just reset TC. Doing that shifts everything back to factory settings, so you have to go through the set up like new all over again, naming your network, re-entering passwords, etc. Between me and Keychain I was able to duplicate what I had entered previously. Airport Utility did it's job and TC has been working fine ever since. For all of this, I just followed the directions in the TC booklet.
You might want to wait for a few other posts to see if others advise the same, but maybe this will be helpful. Good luck.

Mountain Upgrade + Missing Network Connections

I just did the recent Mountain upgrade to 10.8.5 and all my printer network connections and my home network connection (which I paid to have set-up) are now missing. Please tell me there is an easy fix to this problem.

I can't tell you there is an easy fix because I don't know what's wrong. Requires troubleshooting.
Please start by doing a Safe Boot (it does some repair stuff in the process).
To do a Safe Boot, restart or turn on the computer. After hearing the gong sound, press and hold the Shift key until you see the progress indicator. Then you can release the shift key. Safe Boot will take longer - up to ten or 15 minutes. You can confirm you are in Safe mode by seeing the words Safe Boot at top of login dialog and top of Finder.
Test your internet while in Safe mode. Let us know that result.
Now, restart in normal mode by Not pressing shift.
Again check internet and tell us the result.
If still not working, go to System Preferences, Network prefs, and tell us every thing you see in that dialog box. (left side, what's listed and what color indicator dots by each, etc.)

HDMI is thje preferred digital replacemnt for older analog video standards, which your other choices use. It offers far higher signal and definition quality.
Apple has an adapter that is used with your Thunderbolt port/ Mini DisplayPort, if yours is equipped as such.
I've not had a problem with this. It is a Belkin.

Since you've tried the Apple Store, etc., even though you say your Apple ID and password are good, I suspect that's the likely issue.

(InDesign CS5) I have created hundreds of InDesign documents incorporating images stored on an external USB connected drive. I did a manual back-up to another drive at regular intervals but far from ideal.
I now have a network drive which is properly backed-up. I have copied all of the images and folder structure from the USB connected drive to this new drive.
My question is how I get all of the links in my indd files to point to the new drive. I am aware how to do it one file at a time, but is there a way of doing the same thing over many files/folders at a time?

It depends on how you organize your work. If you have one folder for images for a document, relinking one image should alert you that other missing images are in the same folder, but this assumes that images are missing. If the links window sees a clear path to the original location of the images, they aren't missing, so that won't work.
Another thing to try is to select all of the images in the links window and go to the fly-out menu and select Relink To Folder (navigate to the new folder, and you don't even have to select any images by name).
If you store your images in many different folders for the same document, you might want to either package the document to copy all of the images into one folder (you can specify to only copy images if you like) or use the fly-out in the links window (Utilities>Copy Links To…) and select or create a new images folder.

Canonir 2525i which is loosing network connection

I have canonir 2525i office printer which is loosing network connection. Every time that happens we restart the machine to enable it to start printing, this happens to 5 to 7 times a day. Its been running very well for the past two years just recently it began behavin life this. Its quiet frustrating working like this. I tried to change the network cable but yielded nothing. How do I get out of this problem?

Have you worked through the Troubleshooting iOS and WiFi knowledge base article? If not, see if there is info in there that might help.
Is the WiFi greyed out on all WiFi networks or just the one? If it does this on all then there may be a hardwaer problem that needs attention from the techs at an Apple store genius bar.
Before that, however, try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appears. That clears a lot of iOS hang ups that occur.
