  • SATA on K7N2 Delta Series

?(  I've been trying to get the SATA to work on the K7N2 Delta ILSR mainboard. I have 1 SATA drive connected to SER1 and 1 IDE ATA133 drive connected to IDE 3. In Fasttrak RAID setup, the only drive recognized is the SATA drive. Doesn't see the IDE ATA133 drive on IDE 3. Weird but there ya go.
Further in the Fastrack utility, I can not define or create a RAID-0 array, but I can create a performance arrary with just the SATA drive as a  * bootable array. However the BIOS does not recognize any drives.
Could this be a faulty board or a jumper setting I'm missing?
    Any suggestions?

Did what you suggested Deathstalker [you read David Gemmel?] and put the IDE drive on IDE1 and the SATA drive on SER1. BIOS detected the IDE drive. Installed Windoze 2000 on IDE HDD, installed drivers and Windoze does see the SATA drive but can not access it [unknown format]note: did format the SATA via Fdisk FAT32. Was able to get Fasttrak to recognize the IDE drive on IDE3 and create an array of the SATA drive and the IDE ATA133 drive after jumpering the drive to CS but not Master or Slave. BIOS still doesn't detect the created array by putting in RAID-0 bootable drive in boot sequence.
    basic system:
    MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR
    AMD XP 2400
    2 512MB Kingston PC2700
    Seagate 120 GB SATA HDD
    WD 30GB ATA-133 HD
    A whozits CD ROM drive
Not sure why the BIOS doesn't Pick up the SATA RAID array. I've setup 7 other systems [servers] with the IDE RAID with nadda a problem. First venture into Serial ATA drives.

  • MOVED: need help with my k7n2 delta series motherboard please

This topic has been moved to AMD SocketA based board.
need help with my k7n2 delta series motherboard please

"...the other memory ive been using is  memorymaxx 512mb ddr 3200..." If I understood right, your'e actually using both memories at same time so, your'e lucky if it works. We have said thousand times that mixing dif. brand/make/speed memories is a bad idea, most with this Mobo that is very picky about ram. If you want to avoid slowdown problems, stay with only one stick ( the better one ) until you can buy at same time in same store, 2 identical memories to replace the old one.

When problems occur go back to basics.  You stated D: is unreadable but C: partition is readable (if I understood right).
As sharp said use only one stick of ram.  Remove any additional PCI cards installed other than Video.  Do not plug in anything but the hard drive set to master.
Check to see if system will detect.
If at this point it properly detects your drive, check for a boot to windows.  If it boots then remove the hard drive and try just the CD-ROM for detection purposes.  If this detects try them together again, if they fail to detect you most likely have a power supply issue.  And yes, PSU issues can crop up very suddenly.
If this fails take the Hard Drive to a friend and have them test it along with the CD-RW/ROM drives.  If they work there and your issue still persists when you have eliminated all other possible points of failure you probably have a bad motherboard.
Sorry i forgot to tell that the harddisk that the D: cannot unreadable is i check it on other system as a slave.
Okay i will try your suggestion.
    Thanks for your comment

I boutght it the USA. I hope it is still under warranty....i hate to ask, but i cant figure out where the rma page is. can someone help me out please?
Oh, BTW, i looked around for some contact info for MSI, but all i could find was a link to their web site.....From INSIDE the site itself!!!!  The page listed all kinds of other companies, and thire addresses and phone numbers, but not MSI's. Anyone have any helpfull tips or hints?
Not to worry.  I think I can be of some assistance here.
You might want to print these directions out because its a little confusing and you won't have to switch back and forth between windows to follow all the complicated steps:
    1. Go to MSI USA Website
    2. On navigation bar, click where it says "Customer Service/RMA"
    3. See all the information you need right in front of you!

  • Run sata hard drive on K7N2 Delta series

wife had a hard drive crash on her computer which of course was the main drive running windows.  I tried to attach it to my trusty K7N2 board on my personal computer and do a check on the disk and see if I can get back any data which is very precious.  Western Digital WD500KS.   Plugged it into the SER1 on my board and booted up.  It did not recognize the drive.  Concern is the drive may be to large but I think I had larger drives on machine in the past.  I tried a Jumper on pin 1,2 to make it a slave (I did not think I had to put jumpers on for sata but tried anyway) with no luck.  Also took note the drive while plugged into power was very warm to the touch.  I just need to get it working so I can try a few programs I have to extract data off of bad hard drives.  My wife is in a panic and I told her to back up her  stuff but you know she did not.  I am guessing I need to change some settings to hopefully get board to recognize drive but not sure which ones.   Like always, any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I can't say thanks enough for all the help everyone has posted here to help me out with this issue.  Thinking I had to install a new drive no matter what, I bought a new sata drive and went into the array setup and was able to add it as a drive and recognize it.  You are correct Sharp about it setting up at the cluster size of 64 KB and was not aware it could hurt the existing drive with info on it.  I did take note having the new drive set up in an array and then taking it out again did not cause any issues and it looks like it will switch back and forth.  I did try the Ubuntu cd with ASUS and was impressed with it, but running computer with it, it showed drive but did not let me access it so it must be down for the count.   When trying to set it up for the raid on MSI it also showed it as being there but just not able to access it.  I think what will happen now is install windows again and then make the bad drive a second and use some type of data recovery program to try and get the data my wife needs back.
I do understand the professionalism of the site but also know we need some humor now and then but was not sure how far the line was drawn with all but I will say anyway, to bring some smiles, I was going to offer her up for the night to whoever could fix this problem    She is hot and I'm a lucky guy.  why would I be doing all this, right.
Anyway, again, thank you for all the help offered and putting up with this newbie and I learned a lot and hopefully  things learned from my experience can be used to help someone else.  You guys are really the best.

  • K7n2 delta series: bios settings & FSB

    Hello! All
    Happy Easter holidays!
Currently, I have my board fsb settings at 133 mhz and have an AMD 3000 Athlon, my question is: What settings should I have my FSB settings on? I would like to maximize my bios settings and I feel 133 mhz I am not maximizing system performance. Any help/direction would be appreciated.

    ReneH,
Your min FSB should be 166Mhz. Which flavor 3000+ do you have, since I think that one came in both 166Mhz (2.16GHz) and 200Mhz (2.1GHz) FSB's.
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. But with no specs on your comp and my Chrystal Ball in the shop for repairs, I can only take a spab in the dark.

  • Motherboard K7N2 Delta/ AMD XP 2.2

I have an AMD xp 2.2 processor fitted in the mother board that I bought recentle, exactly is K7N2 Delta series, MS-6570 (v1.X) ATX Mainboard and win xp prof as an operating system.
On my comp/propert the processor buss freq comes up as 1.35 GHZ, instead of 1.81Ghz that was coming up with the old motherboard.
I have checked the jumpers and they're optimized at 133mhz buss spead. I did change the bus spead from 100 mhz to 133 mhz in bios, but the op system became unstable and freezed up, so i had to decrease it to 100mhz again, and the system is noticeable slow, especially when i am doing video editing.
Now, this could be simple but I am quite a novice  and could really appreciate if you vould help me optimising my processor.
    Cheers

  • Odd USB Problem With K7N2 Delta-L

Hey all.  I have a bit of a weird problem here I'm wondering if people can give some insight on.  I have a K7N2 Delta-L mainboard that I've been using for two years now without the slightest problem.  However, recently I've started experiencing some odd USB related problems which culminated in a big moment of panic for me yesterday.  I'll start with what happened yesterday.
My system drive is 2x40GB PIDE drives running on an add-in Promise FastTrak133 controller.  Yesterday, I was given 2x160GB drives from a client that I decided to upgrade my RAID with.  I installed the drives and fired up my system, but had to reboot several times as the drives weren't jumpered right and not detecting on the Promise board.  After I finally got the drives working, I noticed my USB had completely died.  My USB keyboard and mouse didn't work and my TrueImage rescue disk (which I was going to use to restore my backup to the new RAID with) couldn't see the USB hard disk which contained the backup.  I panicked about this for a while, but eventually managed to restore the keyboard and USB drive by unplugging the system, pulling the battery, waiting 15 minutes, putting the battery back and starting up.  My mouse still didn't work, but once I got into Windows, it started to work after unplugging it and replugging it three times.  All these devices work immediately when plugged into my laptop so I know they are OK.
Also, for the last few months leading up to yesterday, I've been having a problem with some USB devices not detecting properly when I startup.  For example, the mouse will not respond until I either replug it (sometimes more than once) or on some occasions, just mash the buttons a few times at which point it kicks in.  I also find that sometimes if I switch the keyset on my Zboard (which resets its USB connection), sometimes it won't get recognized as attached to the system unless I disconnect it or reboot.  Both of these devices work perfectly in other systems I've tried them on and once I get them running in Windows, they don't kick out again unless the system is shut down (and they only fail to work on some boots, not all.)  Every other aspect of the system works flawlessly.
I was wondering, has anyone else seen this before and is it something I can correct?  Is this a sign that possibly the board is starting to die and I should look at upgrading?  If I install an add-in USB card and disable the on-board USB, will I still be able to boot from USB devices?  I cannot really afford a major upgrade right now, but I also can't afford to lose this system so I'll make the investment if this is a potential sign the board is failing.  Thanks for reading and any help you can provide.
P.S.  Here is a list of USB devices connected to my system, all of which I've tried disconnecting without fixing the problem:
Razer Copperhead Gaming Mouse (Latest Drivers & Firmware)
    Ideazon Zboard (Latest Drivers)
Artec e48U+ Scanner (Latest Drivers, Powered By USB)
iMex USB 2.0 External HDD Enclosure
HP Photosmart 7600 Photo Printer (Runs Through Zboard USB Hub)

the PSU looks fine and should be capable of providing more than enough power - unless it is faulty for some reason. is it clogged up with dust? do you have another one you can test with?
does your case have its own USB port(s), if so disconnect from motherboard and see if that makes any difference
also, try going to Device Manager, uninstalling all the Host Controllers listed under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then rebooting to reinstall the drivers
i presume you have already referred to this sticky topic: If you are having problems with USB ports, read this topic.

  • K7n2 delta has VIA chipset?

Can someone give me some advice in reference to what chipset the k7n2 delta series has? I was trying to get my usb ports to be recognized but I have not installed the chipset drivers. Does the board support the VIA or other firmware upgrade? Thanks in advance.

I see "Standard Enhanced Controller PCI to USB Host Controller." Also, I have 5 unknown devices under the USB Controllers in Device Manager. I dont see any ? or ! anywhere in device manager. The only usb device that is working is the printer. Tnanks for the prompt replies & help.
Also, which wire do I snip in regards to the blue JUSB2 blue colored plastic hub? There are 2, black wires pinned together, do I snip one of them?
One more thing, it seems that my usb devices, some, will work when they are plugged in and winxp is restarted only. What giives?

  • MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Bios v.7.6 ??When??

    Hello,
I just asked myself when MSI is going to publish a new Bios Update above the 7.6 for the K7N2 Delta ILSR mainboard !!! I think it's time for a new Bios update, because of the few problems with this mainboard !!!!

    Quote
He has confirmed the ports are present on the board....
I have seen this in earlier Nf2 Pre Delta boards where it was there but if you had disabled it, and then flashed the BIOS, it would dissapear. The only way to get it back was to flash to an earlier version, make sure it is enabled, then you can flash to the latest.
That is why I always clear the CMOS when starting a new build. You may have a board that may have been fiddled with, believe it or not, it does happen from time to time.
Have you tried the Default BIOS Settings Option in the BIOS? Perhaps you loaded the Performance option and that is why it is hiding?
    this worked, thx a lot
