Network diagnostic tool won't run

Thought I'd run the NDT to see if if could tell me why my upload speed was 25 Mbps on a 75/75 connection.  It just says testing in progress and has 4 steps that say not started.  Nothing ever changes.  There is a mention of a Java applet however I never got prompted for installation of such an item.  Is that the issue??
Or is it possibly because the Verizon router isn't the gateway router to the network that the PC is on?

Yes, the issue is apparently Java.  More specifically Java and Chrome, according to the Oracle site Chrome won't run Java any more, at least that is what it said when I tried to update Java to 8 v45.  Update it in IE and NDT still wouldn't run in Chrome but runs OK in IE.
My upload speed looks even worse today, apparently am now 78/5
The top line of the web 110 detailed analysis is odd - 10Mbps Ethernet Link found
I'm guessing my upload issue is this
This connection is receiver limited 4.14% of the time.
This connection is sender limited 93.26% of the time.
Anybody know what sender limited means?

  • Network Diagnostic Service won't run, Symantec turned off, yellow triangles by all network devices

We have a Lenovo laptop that suddenly cannot connect to the network (Windows 2008 R2 domain). The o/s is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. The system tray icon shows that no network connections are available. When I run the troubleshooter, Windows detects that the Network
Diagnostic Service is not running, and when the troubleshooter attempts to fix it, nothing happens.
Looking in Device Manager, I see a Realtek LAN card, a Cisco wireless card, Teredo Tunneling adapter, and 5 WAN miniports. All are showing a yellow triangle. Under Unknown Devices, I have one device with a question mark and 5 with yellow triangles. I tried
uninstalling/reinstalling the network adapters, but it made no difference.
In addition, I got a message yesterday in the Action Center that Symantec Endpoitn Protection and Windows Firewall were both turned off. This made me suspect malware, but a Malwarebytes scan did not turn up anything. I am now trying a scan in Safe mode.
I've googled this extensively and have seen articles about Teredo Tunneling issues and Network Diagnostic Service issues, but I am not sure of the root of my problem. I don't want to try registry edit solutions or uninstall anything else if those solutions
    are not my specific issue.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello Peg2011,
Have you made any changes before the laptop can’t connect to the network?
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Update the network cards drivers from the manufacturer website
    2. If you still can’t connect to the network, please run the command ipconfig /all to check if the IP information is right and share us the result.
As this issue occur suddenly, you could try to use the system restore to return your PC's system files and programs to a time when everything was working fine.
For more information about system restore, please take a look at the following article.

  • Airport express for isolated network diagnostic tool.

I have many isolated IP networks that I maintain. I am amazed by the network scanning capabilities of my iPhone.  I use the various scanning tools when setting up wireless networks.  My question is:  can I use an Airport Express connected to an isolated network (no internet connection) via an Ethernet cable and connect my iPhone wirelessly to scan the wired network.  I have been reading that the Ethernet port is only active when extending an existing wireless network.  I would need to be able to set up a static IP address to get it into my network.  I'm hoping this would work, much quicker and portable than a bulky laptop and computer bag.

I have been reading that the Ethernet port is only active when extending an existing wireless network.
It would also be active (802.11n AirPort Express only) if the Express is configured as a wireless Ethernet bridge. Apple calls this mode ProxySTA. However, in this mode the Express would not provide a wireless signal.
To get around this, you would need to use a second Express connected to the ProxySTA by Ethernet. This second Express can then broadcast a wireless network for your iPhone to connect to.

  • WEP and network diagnostic

Every time I want to log on to my wireless network (which is locked to WEP), I have to use the network diagnostic tool. Nothing else works, I've tried to put $ and x0 in front of the password, I have saved the password diferent ways on the keychain, but the only way I can acces my network is by using the network diagnostic and write the password with 40/128 hex encrypting.
My iPhone can not acces the network at all, my internet provider say it's an Apple problem....
The router is a Allied telesis AT-iMG634W

I had a similar problem after updating to 10.5.3, wifi would disconnect every 20 seconds or so. I know it works fine with Apple's Airport Express router and with a Linksys 54G router, but it never worked with a Linksys WRT300N. Obviously since N is draft one little change by either side and unreliable connection is the result.
I had to roll my macbook back to 10.5.1 with an archive and install then update back to 10.5.2 and WIFI worked again. I hoped they would have fixed this in 10.5.4 patch but they didn't, so I'm still on 10.5.2 until I know for sure it works.
I believe the problem is the handshake between the airport card in your macbook and the 3rd party router. If you had a Apple router it would probably work fine. One way to check is take to the apple store if it works there then you know what the problem is.
I see now there is 10.5.5 update (reason I'm here) checking to see if anyone found it to work for this problem. Good luck.
My macbook is a late 2007 model.

  • HP p6230a runs slow after bios update - Getting error BIODHD-8 on Diagnostic Tools

After bios update my desktop runs so painfully slow it is unworkable.  Disk drive seems to be constantly hammered by processes that don't appear on task manager.  Running 64 bit windows 7 (sp1).  Running the diagnostic tools prior to boot up comes up with error code BIOHD-8 - A SMART test failed on the drive - please contact HP Support.  Ideally would like to get previous version of bios as machine was running well before update.

I will ask my HP Employee Expert colleagues about this internally. It will take a while for them to respond.
the BIODHD-8 error code means your harddrive is failing and must be replaced.
Back up everything that you possibly can before it fails and no longer boots up into Windows .

I can't figure out why the Times Reader won't run on my Mac (OS 10.8.5).  The application opens, but doesn't run.  Nothing shows up on the screen except the menu bar at the top.
I have reloaded the application, and uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Air, but neither has helped.

  • Wifi Diagnostic Tools

    Morning all,
I am looking to run a diagnostic tool to determine if my wireless setup is as best as it can be. What tool would allow me to do this?
    Thanks,

I suspect you will get a number of different answers, but here is mine: inSSIDer
    Link: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/
Here is what it will display:
Note that I covered up the actual name of my network and substituted my forum name. Also, I am currently not on my FiOS connection but on an AT&T DSL connection at our lake house, so you don't see any Actiontec routers, for example.  .
Several items I like to check:
    1) (Most important!) How many networks are using the same channel. In my case only my network is on Channel 1, but you can see there are several on channel 6, which can lead to conflict and a slowdown. Keep in mind that many of the channels overlap , the best channels to use are 1, 6, and 11, whichever one is the least used in your area.
    2) Verify that you are using good encryption (and see who isn't  ).
    3) The signal strength.
There are some additional graphs available, signal strength over time, etc. Overall this tool at least gives you some good info. And it is free!
    Hope this helps.

  • CS3 installs but won't run

Ok - not sure if this goes in this section or not.. but it's a technical question.
My b/f bought me a Dell Laptop last week. It has the recommended minimum of everything adobe says it needs for photoshop CS3 (see below for 1721 specs)
When I installed it on the laptop - it was slow, but said it installed. But when I go to open up Photoshop, it opens the screen - and then just hangs. After about 5 minutes it says not responding and I close it. Any of the other programs that came with won't even get that far. I click on them and it gives the little "thinking" circle (as I call it.. lol) and then nothing.
I have read that CS3 has issues with Vista - but their site says the home premium should work. I've also read about 64 bit issues.. but the OS is 32 bit - so it's capable of running 32bit systems... I guess.
I called adobe yesterday after installing and reinstalling CS3 15+ times... with the same issue. I was on the phone for about 2 hours with them. Basically - they have NO CLUE what it would be since it installs fine and opens with no error messages. I checked the log files and there is nothing in there I see that says any kind of error.
I have disable windows defender, uninstalled McAfee and google desktop (all are known to cause issues with CS3), I have ALL non MS startup services turned off.. I have turned off the MS users control.. all suggested by the adobe tech.
I have installed using the run as administrator. Nothing. Created a new admin account and installed on that user and opened on reg admin account. Nothing. (again typical things that correct cs3 install issues)
The last thing the guy said was that it might be a video issue. I checked and there aren't any issues mentioned and no driver updates listed.
We tryed installing this on my b/f's laptop. He bought the exact one I have (except his is red.. mine blue.. lol) and it does the EXACT same thing...
So today we called dell. they say it's a software issue and won't answer any questions for free. Apparently only hardware support is free... But they won't accept this is a hardware conflict with the software..
    errrrr
Anybody have any clues on this?

Rob - thanks for taking a stab at this.
I have tried installing from the DVD and also from the zip file. the zip file was extracted to the hard drive brfore I ran it - and I ran it as administrator.
And when it stalls - it gives the (NOT RESPONDING) tag on the window - which usually means that even if I leave it (and I have for up to 20 minutes) - still nothing.
Here's the update from my dealings with DEll today...
Dell tech support guy told me that it was a know issue that CS3 WON'T run on Vista and that Adobe is working the issue
Told them that I knew others that were running it on Vista and it worked fine. They had no answer.
Then I waited for the Technical support manger to call. This is after expressing my displeasure to the technical supervisor about them trying to pawn this issue off on anyone else but themselves. Why can't they go grab a 1721 off the shelf and replicate the issue and try to figure it out from there?!?!?!
I used to work on a network helpdesk.. if I tried to pull that crap answer without trying to replicate the issue and AT LEAST try to find an answer.. I wouldn't have lasted very long at all!!!!
The Tech manager told me to call customer support and ask for an OS swap (from vista to XP) because they don't know what the problem is and so it muct be a Vista compatibility issue
I call customer support. They say that they no longer will give out XP since it is a step backwards. And to install XP on the machine ourselves (even a liscensed copy) would void the warranty. They suggest I talk to sales about swapping the laptop out with a "more compatible" one. Which isn't a totally bad idea since I really do think it is an AMD/ATI conflict.
They transfer me to Sales.. ohh - you used the Employee Purchase program.. you need to talk to them.. and they transfer me.
The EPP people tell me.. ohhhh you didn't actually go through us since you bought it off the Dell Outlet store. So they transfer me.
The dell outlet store says they will be more than happy to swap me out to an Intel based machine.
Only catch is the Intels are more expensive. They don't have any for the price we paid for the amd's. Fot about $40 more I can get one with a slower processer, a gig less ram, no dvd writer, but with a 160gb hd. To get compatible to mine - would be about $150 more.
And they only have silver in the low end, and black or brown in the higher. Not that I really give a s@!t what the color is.. but it brings up the main reason I am sooo pissed abput all of this....
Why should I have to pay more money, settle on doing without option/features want/need.. just because THEY don't want to take the time to figure out what the real issue is?!?!?! Why isn't it them doing these calls and doing all this troubleshooting.. Why am I being peanilzed for THEM not wanting to do their jobs....
Told the B/F that I am done with Dell. That I don't want the laptop anymore and I don't want any other one from them. He says he'll pay the extra and get me the other one.. but that isn't the point....
Not sure what my next move is.

  • Issues configuring network-ups-tools with Powerware 5110

Been using Arch for about 24hrs now (It replaced RHEL5 which was running for 18mths) and I'm very impressed. Have found it very good for a new user, the extensive wiki's have been a huge help to get things going. Under RHEL I really needed to do a lot of google searching to get things working but have only had to do it twice for the same build under Arch. I was able to fix the first issue (wTorrent wiki missed install of php-sqlite) and now network-ups-tools.
I had it working 100% under RHEL so its not a device/hardware issue that I can see. But under Arch I keep getting connection lost messages after starting the ups daemon.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction to get this fixed. I did not install any packages manually, everything has been done via pacman (system is fully up to date as per the time of this post.)

Sure, it was put there by the package retrieved from the default repo by pacman as was everything else. All I did was modify a few files in /etc/ups so all user/permissions etc should be setup correctly by the package?

Things is, NUT is fairly simple to begin with, there is really only 3 items you need to get it to work that I can see. The UPS driver, upsd user and monitor line.

  • HP Update unable to install HP Printer Diagnostic Tools

Today the HP Update application prompted me to install three updates related to my Deskjet 3520. Two of them seemingly installed OK, but the third one ("HP Printer Diagnostic Tools") downloads but immediately fails after installation has started.
The manual download of the tool seems to run, but there is no success message, and HP Update still shows this one as missing afterwards. This is on Windows 8 Enterprise x64.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

That update is supposed to install a desktop shortcut to the diagnostics landing page.   You can find that here: www.hp.com/go/tools .
I don't know why the update is not working, but I would suggest selecting the  "Hide" option so it no longer shows up and adding the above link to your favorites if you wish to save it.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909a - setup can't find printer, HP Network Diagnostic does

    Windows XP SP3
    HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a CB022A
    DLM1FN1006BR
I have been fighting with this printer for the past week, put at least 40 hours into trying to fix this alone. I will never buy another HP product for my office again.
Windows can find the printer on the network. HP Network Diagnostic can find the printer on the network. But the latest version of the installation for the printer, that I downloaded from the website last week, refuses to find the printer on the network. I would do this without the HP software if I could but I need the functionality of hitting the scan button on the printer and it converting those scanned documents to PDF.
    Here's a list of things I've tried:
Finding the printer by IP in the setup (doesn't find it)
Using the HP Scrub tool for this printer at all levels (L1-L4) MULTIPLE times followed by deleting the files in %temp% and then reinstalled the full software package.
Disabled all services and startup items.
Disabled the Windows firewall. Tried with Windows firewall installed as well.
Restarted the HP services in services.msc
    Updated MSIEXEC.
    Un registered Re-registered the msiexec
    Re-registered ATL.dll
Ran subinacl to make sure all permissions are set properly.
What I don't understand is why the HP Network Diagnostic can find it and the install can't. It seems to me that without installing all the HP software, I have no way of using the scan button to scan documents - the scanner just says "Select Computer" followed by "No Scan Options".
Can anyone tell me what I've missed in troubleshooting?

Bump? Anyone have any sort of advice? Or is everyone seeing that I've followed every step in the HP Support site and nobody knows what else to suggest?

Thanks for any help you can provide. This has been a VERY frustrating problem. I’ve tried manual installs on three different PCs now.
We started at 10.1.3. All Standard PCs ran the 10.1.4 patch but won’t run the 10.1.5 patch.
Acrobat Pro 10.1.4 PCs ran the 10.1.5 patch no problem.

  • No start, blue screen. Diagnostic tools gives error code BIOME-1. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
My system does not start anymore. I use BIOS version 5.43 for my Pavilion 9190. Running Diagnostic tools gives an error code BIOME-1 in the memory test. What to do?
    Fred

Since that indicates a memory problem, it would seem that would be where to start.  First try to re-seat the memory modules (with the computer turned off).  If that does not help, make the Ultimate Boot CD (with another computer) and then boot to it.  Run the memory testing routines.  MemTest will tell you which module is failing, if you read the results properly as it runs the testing routine.
