Network Drives for All Users

I am looking to map a few network drives for any user that logs into our iMac.  Is there a way to do this?  I know how to do it on a per user level.  We just need a few drives to be mapped at all times. Thanks.

  • List mapped drives for all users

Is there a way to list all mapped drives for every user  in the domain? I'd like to export it out to csv.

    Hi Ctrl,
We can use "net use" or Wmi query "Get-WmiObject Win32_MappedLogicalDisk " in powershell, however,  these methods has some limitations, whether the current user which is used to remote access has Administrative privileges
to their computer can determine whether that returns anything or not.
For example, we can use Powershell Remoting to query the mapped drive from remote computers, beacause the mapped drive is to a specified user, so we also need to provide the computername and the relevant credential.
If you deployed the GPP Drive maps, you can refer to this script:
Get all GPP Drive maps in a Domain
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Mapping Network Drive for external user does not work

I want to map a beehiveonline.oracle.com network drive. I am using https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/content/dav/# as mentioned in the FAQ.
Using https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/content/dav/ (without the #) does not work either.
I am able to map this network drive when using [email protected] as user.
However when trying to do this for the user [email protected] I am not able to map the drive.
I am testing this in order to simulate the client to map the network drive.
Logging on the beehiveonline with the user id [email protected] works fine.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Ah, We have had one other case of this where an account can access BeehiveOnline OK but cannot get the webDAV to work.
I did notice a few login failuers stating your account did not exist on the system. This can sometimes happen if there is a conflict between username and loginid - I have set them to be the same and this may help.
Try again and let me know how it goes.

  • Mounting drives on the desktop for all users

    Hi
Is there a way of mounting drives ( like USB pens) on the desktop for all users please?
It's a causing a lot of confusion here... you think the USB drives aren't working when you can't see them being mounted in front of you.
I do realise you can set this in Finder/Preferences but I wondered if there were a way of just making it the default for any user that logs in ( whether locally or to the domain).
    Thanks for your assistance.

Hmmmm....why would anyone disable this basic thing?
Here's a reason. I don't use the Desktop, so why would I want the drives to pop up on my desktop.
They appear in my Sidebar in any Finder window.
That's why I turned it off on my system. You'd have to ask the 1000 users why they turned it off.
However, I'm not sure I understand what you want. If you mount a usb drive on your system, and share it out over the network, it is not a Hard Drive on any network user's desktop. It is a network share.

  • CP3525dn, networked -- default duplex for all users (embedded web server)

I want to set the default for all users on our networked CP3525dn to be duplex. I cannot find this option anywhere in the embedded web server. I have duplex turned on, of course, and users can set their own default to duplex, but I want it to be default for everyone--the default default, if you will.
Is this possible? I'm fairly certain it's possible if the printer is connected to a computer and shared on the network (but I don't remember the specifics) but I can't find out how to do it if it's on the network on its own.
    Thanks!

I don't believe you can.  It must be set for every user manually.

  • Setting Finder Sidebar Folders for all users on Windows Network.

    Morning All,
Have 15 iMacs and have joined them to Active Directory using Centrify.
Looking to customize the Finder Sidebar for all users that log on. We don't want to do this manually for all users. Specifically want to make sure the Home Folder is mapped and documents folder and all the other ones are not showing.
Is this possible to do at all? We have Centrify Group Policies we can apply on our Windows Network and a Mac Server we can use with Profile Manager if necessary as well.
    Hope you can help,

  • Mounting a Lacie Drive on Login for all users?

Here's the situation: I want to make my Mac users single sign-on to my Active Directory server (2003 Server). This part is easy and works great- users get their home directory mounted and of course have to authenticate against the AD server to logon on. What I can't have is them saving their huge multimedia files to our server- it doesn't have the HDD space!
Summary: I want users who authenticate to an AD server to be able to save small files to their home directories but larger files to the Lacie drive attached to a G5 tower. What would be the best way to do this?
    Thanks a million!

    Hi Paul,
I would, as an admin user, create one folder for each of your users on the LaCie drive and make each of them owner of his own folder (I guess this can be obtained from the "Get Info" window or the Unix way).
You still have to check that the FW drive mounts for all user sessions but I don't see why it wouldn't.

  • HT1660 how can I use one single library for all users on the same laptop?

how can I use one single library for all users on the same laptop?

You are most of the way there. Each user having access to hard drive is the key. If users are limited in file privileges this is harder.
Any files you add to your library and any files she adds to her library are available to the other. Just not automatically. Each user must add the files to their own library using the add file or add folder option from menu bar.
What I have done is set library location to a location outside of My Documents\My Music. On my network storage I have a folder names s:\itunes. Both accounts iTunes are set to use this location for the library.

  • Network drive and fast user switching OS 10.7

I have a shared network drive that I want all accounts on my Mac to be able to access. On my Mac I have a single admin account and several non-admin accounts. The problem is that once one account mounts the network drive when another user logs in (using fast user switching) the drive shows as being inaccessible (a folder icon with a "do not enter" icon on it) and must be unmounted and remounted. This is an issue because unmounting requires the admin password which is not known to all users.
Is there a way that I can make the mount available to all users on the machine without needing to remount for each user? Or is there a way that I can unmount without requiring the admin account?
    Thanks

System Preferences -> Users & Groups, click Login Options, you'll see it then.  You'll need to unlock that preference pane with the lock in the lower left corner of the window to change that setting.

I've just installed arch x64 on my Acer Aspire 5720ZG laptop and need to get networking setup so that it starts automatically with a choice of either wired or wireless, for all users.
Currently I have only managed to get wifi to start with NetworkManager once xfce has started and only for root.

  • How to embed fonts in document for all users

    Hello,
we are using a custom font for our documents. I know it's possible to embed fonts in document when saving.
Is there an option to enforce this setting with a policy?
I cannot find the right policy in the Office Policy templates.
We are using Office 2013 x86.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, the option is document-based, we can't control this on the Policy level.
If your request is to turn on this option for all new created documents. Since all new documents are based on the Normal.dotm template, a workaround is to create a new Normal.dotm template in which this option is checked:
Browse to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates, open Normal.dotm, tick the option and save it as Normal_1.dotm, save it in the same location.
Then rename the old Normal.dotm to Normal.old, rename Normal_1.dotm to Normal.dotm.
Open Word and create a new blank document, you will see this option is ticked.
To deploy this file for all users, we can write a startup script. The process is like: 1. Remove the old Normal.dotm, 2. Copy the new Normal.dotm template from a network shared location to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.
I hope the information is helpful to you.

  • Powershell script to search a network drive for .mdb files and export them to CSV file

    Hello all,
I'm trying to search one of our network drives for old .mdb files, I want to write the name, location and date last modified to a csv file.
    Get-WmiObject -Class CIM_DataFile -Filter "Drive='S:' And Extension='mdb'
     AND ObjFile.drive
     AND objFile.FileName
     AND objFile.FileSize
     AND objFile.LastWriteTime" |
    Export-CSV c:\mdb_search\mdbfiles.csv\
Obviously this isn't working or I wouldn't be posting.  I've tried many different examples from the net with no joy for now.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Thanks, that did the job.
    Cheers, you're welcome.
How do I get the powershell cursor to return to C:> ?
Should I use "exit" or "break" ?
Neither, the console will return to a prompt when the search has been completed.

  • Impact on roaming profile accounts if we Change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts

I want to understand if we change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts, then what would be the impact on existing profile. Whether we need to change it manualy or it will connect to same profiles in terminal
    session.
As i observed it create new profile after logon name changed to employee number where existing users profile settings get fails to load and prompt for new settings (such as outlook reconfiguration, share drive mapping etc.).
Kindly let me know the proper process to overcome with this, how to connect same existing roaming profile with employee number format change.

    Hi,
What if we change the user name of user account, will it have impact on roaming profiles.
Yes, it will affect roaming profiles. Please rename the roaming profile folder as the new user account name, in addition, change the profile path in ADUC.

  • How do I get the HDD to show on the desktop for all users?

I have found it by going to finder and preferences and show hard disks, but when another user logs in, it doesnt show. The Macs are networked and login using Active Directory, but as soon as I change the logon it doesnt show anymore.
I need this to show or a network share using SMB to be mapped for all users when they logon. I have software "Read and Write Gold 4 for Mac" and upon starting the software, it needs to look for a license file. I can either copy to all the Macs, or have one on a network share.
    Any ideas welcome.

Looking around, it seems that some people have changed the Launchpad key and want to go back.
If there's a way to go back, then there must be a way to change it completely?
In this thread, Fabien says that if you enter
    rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist
into Terminal, you can bring the Launchpad key back.
